This place has great outdoor space & atmosphere! It's a great place for the craft beer lover with many beers (local too!) on tap, inside & outside! We went on a tuesday, so we had good taco Tuesday night and $2 off beer all night Tuesday! I can't speak of any specials on other nights, but I know there are some & live music too.
Review Source:Small but well picked selection of draft beer. The food is very good - not your normal pub fare. The owner smokes the pork on the premises (actually in the parking lot just behind the Beer Garden) and it is excellent. They have live music in the early evenings and half price beer weekday afternoons. Go in good weather and sit outside!
Review Source:Cyndy's Bottom Line: Â A great place to unwind and have a beer with the yummy double fried french fries!
The bartender is very attentive in providing tastings of beer in order to find a beer of you like!
Love the Abita Light!
Monday is half price burgers.
Family oriented. Â Lot's of young families.
The Westover Beer Garden, on the side of the building, was actually very "gemütlich". It reminded me of sitting at such an establishment on a spring afternoon in München. There's indoor seating as well. Family friendly place - many folks there with kids, but the kids were not annoyance as they can sometimes be. Networked system ensures outside tab and inside tab are the same; you can get drinks from either bar without issue.
And a very nice beer selection. About 6 on tap outside, and twice as much inside at any time, but rotational, so be sure to ask for good suggestions from the knowledgeable staff. Friendly staff too - the whole place has a friendly, family atmosphere to it. This is a gem for beer drinkers in the Arlington and NoVA area.
Are you a beer omnivore? Don't want the same beer every week? This is your neighborhood friendly, happy beer-lovers place to be. Firepits outside in the evenings. Good, hearty food, try the daily wild burger ( buffalo, elk, kangaroo) or the Cubano sandwich, or the Tuesday night steak tacos. A fun place and kid friendly in daytime. Live music sometimes too.
Come on down to the friendly neighborhood hangout out in Westover Village!
If you're familiar with Westover Market but not Westover Bier Garden & Haus, it's probably because you just haven't noticed it. It's a little hidden, being tucked around the side of the building. But if you're a craft, draft beer fan, you're sure to love it here. They have 10 rotating taps inside and 6 in the outdoor seating area. Breweries you know (or don't) and love make their appearances: Bell's, Southern Tier, Sierra Nevada, Great Lakes, Troegs, Flying Dog, Left Hand, Ballast Point, Schlafly, DC Brau, Lagunitas, and that's just off the top of my head. The staff are knowledgeable and seem happy to make recommendations based on your tastes.
My recent visit was during the Bell's Hopslam event. If you're not familiar, this is a highly sought-after seasonal IPA that beer lovers love to hunt for. Westover tapped a keg of it on a week night, and the place was packed. Still, we only had to wait a few minutes to be served, and everything went off without a hitch. In the Spring, they have live music in the garden area and they also host brewery-specific events on a very regular basis. This place is easily in my top 2 or 3 (along with Fire Works Pizza and Rustico) havens for beer enthusiasts in Arlington.
Well you think of the Westover Market first. Â Then you see the massive patio on the side of the building and you think to yourself, "Self, what on Earth is that?" Upon investigating you find that it's a beer garden! Â A small bar with a few taps on the patio with flat screen TV's to watch the game or news. Fantastic idea!
You sit down and order some food and the one thing that sticks in my mind are the French Fries. Â My goodness! Â Those are quite possibly the best fries you've ever had in your life and I"m willing to bet the tab on it.
The other main stay is of course the beers. Â You see the style, ABV, plato, and price on every beer they have on tap and of course you think to yourself, "Self, I'm in heaven." Â Because you might as well be.
Great experience, friendly staff, and a good time. Â Will definitely come here again.
I have been here too many times to count and there is a reason for that. To start, their beer garden is awesome! They have an unbelievable number of beers in their beer garden. What I usually do is come here and get a six pack of a new beer that I want to try. The prices are pretty normal - some six packs/bottles are obviously more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for. You can also create your own six pack which is something I thought was pretty cool. I really enjoy this place for their large selection of beer. I cannot vouch for their food, though. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try new and delicious beer.
Review Source:Great 'hole in the wall" kinda place! Solid beer selection, though not a huge amount on any given night. They list where the beer is made and alcohol content. limited, but also good food selection. Big screen TV for games. It is small if you stick to the inside for cold weather but great for a group on warmer nights. Looking forward to going back soon, so glad they are close by. Nothing fancy but stopping by for a burger and beer with a firend? Perfect.
Review Source:One of the best beer bars in the area that is also very friendly to families. Â My wife and I consistently take our four year old there who enjoys the music, chalk and ice cream while we can have a few great beers at reasonable prices. Â Devin and team make this such a consistent experience that we visit on a weekly basis, even during the cold months!
Review Source:I am definitely a fan of the Beer Garden. Â I went on a Tuesday for happy hour and dinner with a friend who is a regular at Westover Beer Garden. Â The weather was nice so we were able to sit outside. Â But as the sun went down it began to get colder and it was so awesome to have multiple fire pits that visitors could sit around. Â Also the tvs mounted on the wall would make this place awesome to watch a Sunday game. Â The patio was beautifully decorated with plenty of trees making a nice (almost) divider from the street traffic. Â I appreciated the kid friendly environment as they do not allow smoking on the patio before 8 pm. Â
The guys working were awesome. Â The main bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Â I had the venison burger which had awesome flavor. Â The bartender recommended ordering the meat a little more rare than a regular burger. Â He was right...We ordered medium-well and it was bordering on dry. Â I would definitely recommend going with medium. Â I also tried the tacos which were juicy and good!
The bartender let me sample some of the different beers (which was nice!) as I am a Miller lite girl so it's difficult for me to find a new beer that I liked. Â I definitely enjoyed most of the beer I had but unfortunately cannot remember the names. Â
Prices were great, bathrooms were clean! I love how it is attached to the grocery store making this a great local hangout and supermarket all-in-one spot! Â (You can even buy smore stuff to make over the fire pits! #heaven) Â I met some of the other locals that hang out there regularly and they were all awesome making a great environment (not crazy or loud) for other visitors. Â Parking seemed like it could be tough on a busy night though. Â I got a spot very close to the entrance; however, my friend had to park across the street in the neighborhood. Â Still not bad though. Also, I can't remember if the patio was covered but if it rains there is an inside eating area and bar that you could move to.
One strange thing was that the entrance to the Beer Garden is either through the grocery store or outside around the fenced in area. Â It's not a long walk and I think it is to prevent people from walking in/out with drinks. Â
This was definitely an awesome visit and I look forward to going back very soon!
