I used to be a pool rat, and this was always my go-to place. This was my hangout when smoking was still allowed indoors, so I always went home in the wee hours smelling like the actual cigarette. Friendly people, cheap drinks, oh and I guess I'm a bit biased because I know the owner. But still! I love this place! This is where I learned how to play the game. This is where I came to hang out during that major blackout a few years ago, during the heat of summer and Willow's was the only air conditioned locale near my apt. It was awesome.

Came back here again this weekend, after being MIA for years, only to find out that the place was sold!!!!! @#$%&*!!!!!  Sad, sad news. You have no idea.

Nice tables. Cues are in decent shape. Drinks are cheap. No major complaints. Never to busy which is nice.

This is def a place to go if you want a quick drink and dont care what you look like.

Im not an expert pool player in any means so the tables to me were great. Not bad priced and didnt have to wait.

As for drinks beer selection is alright however for mixed drinks they have a shot counter so you only get one shot per drink so not very strong.

I just shot in a trick shot tournament there this past weekend and it's a nice place for a pool hall. Eleven Brunswick Gold Crown 3s, most with Simonis cloth, in the back and two more 9-fters in the front. It's not the most spacious place, but they didn't try to fit too many tables in the space.

Parking was the biggest issue. Metered parking was out front and as long as you keep putting quarters in, you're ok. If you happen upon a meter maid, talk them up and see when their rounds are and when they're off. We were there all day, but the guy said his last check would be around 3pm, so we let the meter run out after that. Otherwise, there were parking garages around the corner at $30/day.

They don't serve food, but have menus from local places that will deliver. Oddly, the sign on the front door says something about 'No Food', but they were cool with it.

When my boyfriend and I moved to JC from Boston post college, we were looking for a decent pool place and maybe even a league to join as both of us enjoys playing pool (it's actually how we met). Hoboken is not too far away, so we decided to give it a go. Upon entering, it was league night, really packed, but the vibe was really off. The atmosphere was uninviting and people stared us down. We truly felt like outsiders, we tried to converse with the front desk guy but to no avail. It got very awkward, so we left. A few times we did play there, the tables are in good condition. Not sure about the cues as I bring my own. Parking is always tough too, especially since they changed all the street parking around to residential parking permit only.

Nice place! and not costly like others. If you just want to hangout for beer with your friends, this is a nice place.

An ok place...the tables were even and the cues were not all warped. Service was good. Beer was cold. Everything was very reasonable - we played for probably just over an hour and it was like 15 bucks.

UPDATE....we went by this past Friday to play....WOW - PACKED TO THE GILLS @ 10:00pm! Couldnt even get in.

Willow... ah yes, now this is where I play pool.  First real date with The Wife was here... actually it was all over Hoboken but this is where it got really interesting.  Couple points to consider:

The pool tables are usually in very good condition, as are the house cue sticks.  Still, if you play you should bring your own.  They used to rent lockers, so that might be an option.

The place serves very good draught beer, i.e. the Bass was a real pint and real cold.  This also keeps out the underage crowd just in case you actually want to concentrate on your shots.

The layout does not attempt to cram 18 tables where 11 can go.  Eleven tables are well-placed.  I suggest the one near the front window, so you can keep an eye on your illegally parked car.
