McMahon's Brownstone Ale House

I am surprised at all the 3+ star reviews. This place baffles me a little bit. It is an awesome space, great front windows, exposed brick, high ceilings, pretty good location (not far from turtle and 10th & willow) BUT there's never a soul in there. It's as if the staff and management could care less if anyone is in there or not and it shows. The times I go in, no one is there which is fine but the music is non existent, the bartender is reading a newspaper or sitting on the opposite side of the bar eating.. And within 10 min I feel uncomfortable or like I'm the bother..see ya.

The space has such potential but it doesn't seem like anyone cares to make an effort. Which is a real shame.

No frills here! If you need a beer and want to be left alone it's great during the week. Francis, the owner,  has said he owes me a beer about 6 times but I haven't called him on it yet. The crowd can be pretty interesting and the other bartenders are nice even though they might not be the most attentive or might throw your beer out thinking you've left.

My favorite bar of all time! The staff is incredibly friendly and I always feel like I'm part of the family. One of the best kept secrets in Hoboken for sure.
