The Otheroom

i'm all for good date bars, but this place is too loud (music wise), too dark, and not cozy enough seatings.

I went there on a Friday night, looking for a cozy after dinner date spot but nothing sleazy as many cozy bars are.

It looked crowded but the small space is misleading, there weren't more than 25 people inside and the back room was half empty. It stayed fairly peaceful, which is why I didn't take away a star for the lack of a full bar.

Ambiance: Very date-y and romantic, dark with lots of candles. Classy and sophisticated but laid back at the same time. Music is a bit too loud.

Prices: A bit on the higher side but nothing too crazy for the West Village.

I agree with other Yelpers that Otheroom is an amazing date spot.  The bar is very dimly lit, yet stylish.  Looking around the room, I saw nothing but couples sitting closely and chatting. The only downside is that the bar does not have hard alcohol, so no specialty cocktails here.  But the wine and beer selections were good.  Some may say that the Otheroom is tiny.  I would say it's cozy. And cozy is not a bad quality when it comes to getting drinks on a date.
