Baby Grand

This three star rating reflects my mixed feelings about Baby Grand. It could be great, but there's just too many niggling little things that are annoying.

For starters, it's a really really tiny bar, so it gets really crowded really quickly. Sometimes  you have to wait a really long time before you get to sing. The drinks are also overpriced. I think the beers are like $8 (possibly $7?), but they are bottles, not pints, which I think is a bit of a rip. Of course, the bartenders are nice and they have some slightly unusual/interesting beers on offer, but when you're also paying $2 per song, the cost can add up pretty quickly.

Song selection is huge, and yet I had one or two instances where a (totally not obscure) song I wanted to sing was not in their playbook. The sound is good in the bar and the stage is small and barely elevated from the other patrons, so it's not too intimidating to sing up there, but honestly I've found the crowd to be fairly ambivalent, even when the singers are actually good. God dammit, I've carefully selected this Captain and Tennille song to best highlight my limited vocal range, and the least you can do is cheer when I'm finished! ...so maybe I just need to find a karaoke bar with patrons more willing to feed my tender ego.

Went here for an afternoon whiskey and wanted to leave as soon as I sat down - here's why:

It's too TINY
it's really BORING (for happy hour)
It's fairly OVERPRICED

Cool little spot that we happened to hit up when no one else was in there. Tiny, neat decor, and a rad chica working there.

This definitely is one of those spots that feels like a hidden treasure.
