Unpretentious, authentic, friendly, karaoke!!!
Winnie's was such an amazing find. Super mellow vibe, eclectic interior that looks like you are singing in someone's basement, good drink prices.
Seriously, I am not a karaoke-er. But my boyfriend loves it and I have to humor him occasionally. We came here with friends and had the best time.
The place is super strange in a time-forgot-me way. It's on a street off canal and you'd never find it if you weren't looking. The regulars will clap for you and are super friendly. It's like the Chinese Cheers.
And the 80's videos that go with the songs are A-Mazing.
Growing up in Chinatown, this bar has been around since forever. As most of the reviews mentioned, its a dive bar. I've had a few memories here when I was younger. Haven't been back in God knows how long, my friend and I decided to go grab a drink for old time sake.
The decor as I remember is the same, haven't changed at all. The live/open karaoke is still popular. Now onto the drinks, the bartenders were friendly, but my friend did not like any of the drinks they made. I stuck to wine.
It's one of those places that given it's location and that it's been around for so long it's worth checking out at least once. The decor ...
Great little bar. It's somewhat divey, though not especially so for its surroundings given that it's in Chinatown, and it's actually quite spacious by Chinatown standards.
I had a Tsingtao and a lychee cocktail, which were good but a bit pricey for a dive bar ($6.50 and $10, respectively). I also sang a song for $1.
