Came here when I was visiting the city for the weekend on a Saturday night.
This was a super grungy hipster venue.  Maybe we just came on an off night but the crowd was interesting to say the least.  Looked like the cold NY night brought in a throng of randoms from the streets.  

The bar was crowded, the venue was crowded and worst of all the 3 stall co-ed bathroom had longer lines than Disneyland.  

I came here on recommendation from a friend who djs in the city and we were completely thrown off.  Maybe I wasn't drunk enough, although I honestly dont think any number of drinks could make the funky music something you could dance to.

Great music...long lines for the bathroom.  Fun crowd, makes me feel ok about skipping a shower

UPDATE 9/2011: Shut down.  Good music, affordable drinks  & not too crowded?  Of course it was shut down.

Do I have to give this place any stars? I wouldn't even say I had an experience here because the so called "partner" Max basically stood outside the completely empty venue shaking his head no when trying to get in. First things first .. I can semi understand a doorman with an ego problem but to call yourself a partner in running an establishment you should at least learn how to deal with PAYING CONSUMERS. When finally let in later in the night I refused to spend a penny of my hard earned money at this hole in the wall dark drab spot that smelled like moth balls. If I am paying for that type of atmosphere I'll head to my favorite dive bar where the owner knows my name and doesn't act as if his empty bar is the hottest spot in Manhattan. All in all if you want a cool atmosphere head over to 1534 or Mullberry Project where you can at least have a proper cocktail made and you are not surrounded by a disgusting egotistical short man whose bar will be dead before I have time to finish this post.
