Xcala Lounge

What a pleasant surprise!  I was actually looking for somewhere else when I stumbled upon this place but I saw the banner for karaoke so I had to investigate.  From I saw of the outside, I thought Xcala would be a Mexican bar but it turns out that it's actually a kind of hybrid euro-lounge / Irish pub.

All the staff and most of the patrons were friendly. There was at least one other random Karaoke-seeker who came in to investigate based  upon sheer curiosity.  While she and I were comparing karaoke notes, the server asked if I was drinking... and since I was not, the server gave my fellow karaoke-goer a free shot.  (Of what, I don't know... but she seemed to like it!)

Last night drew about 30 people consisting mostly of 20-somethings to 30-somethings with a few random folks who defied the median age.  There were only a couple really obnoxious folks who managed to go outside for most of whatever unpleasantness was going on.

Xcala has karaoke on Tuesday and Thursday.  When I went last night a gentleman name Rob was doing a great job with his karaoke show.  I look forward to returning soon for karaoke or to see what's going on during another night.
