1) I know Delirium Tremens, I've had it on tap in Brussels in addition to many other places. It was dead flat and sour here.
2) Apparently if you are Caucasian you have to argue with the manager to get chopsticks. Some things never change.
3) Beef rib yakitori is lame grizzle with five spice and some sugar cooked over a grill that needs to be cleaned.
I had my boyfriend's birthday party here. The staff was very accommodating and the room was pretty cheap. We had about 13 people in a small room with no bathroom and it was fun and we all had a good time. The food was included in the room price so the room kind of paid for itself. We ended up paying about 15 bucks each. The only complaint I have is the variety of song choices. There should be just a tad bit more variety but what counted was the prompt and friendly service as well as the room and the price. I will definitely hold another party here.
Review Source:This is my first time here, therefore I only give it 4 stars. I had the Taiwanese salt and pepper fried chicken with one of their specialty exotic drink. I like the drink. It was a perfect mix of alcohol and fruit juices. The chicken was pretty good. A bit on the salty side but that may be due to the fact that I normally eat bland food. I would like to go there to try their hot pot (shabu shabu).
Review Source:Honestly the nicest looking karaoke venue I've ever been to, and the fact that they have hot pot, a sports bar area, and karaoke rolled into 1 location is pretty darn appealing. I've spent most of my time at the bar, and the bartenders have been very nice and attentive, they even give you a free bowl of edamame when you order a drink! They have the best draft selection in the Flushing area, with favorites such as Goose Island, Magic Hat, Guinness, and there's even Delirium(!!!). No way in hell you'll find Delirium anywhere else in Flushing. There's even a little space dug into the bar where you can place your drink on ice to keep it cold, I've never seen that before.
The TV's are also top notch and the perfect size for the area. The couches in the karaoke rooms are super comfy, and the sound system is awesome. The highlight of this place are the bathrooms! There's glass that is clear when it isn't occupied, and they "fog up" when the door is shut and locked. Mind. Blown.
Writing from purely a KTV standpoint (A Chinese one), Zebra Lounge 2 has one of the most updated song databases in Flushing. You can find some of the most recent Cantonese and Mandarin songs released. From Mag Lam to Alfred Hui in canto-pop to the cool Taiwanese hits of Mayday and Jay Chou, Zebra never falls behind with their songs. Also they don't fail to have the oldies that our parents listened to like Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau.
It could get a little pricey but this is one of the higher end places and you pay for quality. Apparently there is a 3 hour minimum rule during weekends and prices range from $30/$60 for a small room to $70/$100 for a large depending on the day, with weekends being the higher.
This place was my very first KTV style lounge I have ever been to and I must admit that I had a great time. We reserved a private room a few days before hand and they were able to accommodate are party size without any issues. As for the Private room. AWESOME! Ultra clean, Modern, Private Bathroom, Great selection of music, and good service. We stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and spent $260 between 10 ppl. I thought that was a pretty good price for mixed drinks, Beer, Green Tea, and a bottle of Johnny Black. Will be doing this again in the near future for sure.
Review Source:My go to bar for sports. They give peas! not boring peanuts but only one bowl per group. PER GROUP i say. I had a group of 6 people and they gave me only 1 bowl. I come with one other person and they give me only 1 bowl. so come separately. They have an island bar surrounding a lot of TVS. They also have stalls so you can private it up with friends. Service is slow in the stalls though and they can be forgetful. Beer is cheap and there is a huge selection of imported beer. Its a great place for first timers who want to try uncommon beer. They have a deal were you can sample 4 of the tap. They don't have a lot on tap but then again, they don't have common ones on tap either so you can expand your knowledge, so get fancy.
Review Source:I'm a fan of this place. There aren't many places in Flushing where you can get a drink and a bite to eat and sit comfortably.
On the hot pot: I will never go back to Minni's. The service is much better here, as is the presentation from the plates of meat to the covers on top of each of the sauce tins.
On the bar: I like the square structure with TVs all around. I think their drink pricing was typical. They also had a food menu. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back during football season to have a few beers and some Taiwanese beef noodle soup while watching Eli make these faces: http://deadspin.com/5878…
I was so impressed during our yelp elite event I just had to come back. ANDDDDD I was disappointed. =(
Firstly the bottom floor has pretty close to no reception. Secondly - the fruit plate that they offer you - don't take it - they charge you like $15-25 for it. WITHOUT EVEN TELLING YOU!!! I mean forreals - fruit for $15. That's straight up robbery - at least wait until we're drunk to offer us a fruit plate.
If you make reservations - minimum stay is 3hrs. And for $50 per hour...that's a pretty hefty charge. We figured we would be able to make it worth it when we order drinks and such but with a group of 5 people and if we each order drinks - that basically makes up the first hour and half charge. You have to be careful with how much you order because it is definitely not worth it to go above that when you can easily go to PAM (albeit they're older and grosser) it'll be more worth it. For food we tried their wings, sweet potato fries, dumplings, chicken and shrimp skewers, calamari and one of their noodle options. My favorite was definitely the dumplings and the sweet potato fries. I could probably eat the sweet potato fries all day everyday if I wanted to. The calamari was extremely salty and every bite I took I had to take a huge sip of my drink. Not all that impressive.
Their lychee martini however - and I'm pretty sure I say this all the time.... is simply crack. I love that they give me 3 lychees on a stick - the sweetness from the drink definitely comes from the lychees. It's almost like lychee juice - the alcohol takes a very laid back spot and you really don't taste it unless you chug it one after another. If I go back it will definitely be one of my starter drinks.
Also the layout of the place is just really pretty and super modern. Almost all of the rooms have private bathrooms. PRIVATE bathrooms. Who wouldn't love the place just for that? Also the mics are new which is a big plus for all of the aspiring singers out there.
I've been to a few ktv places and really - if you didn't have all of the music videos and some more current songs I wouldn't give it a second thought to come here but I'll admit if I'm in Flushing I would pick this spot over the other ktv locations.
~happy singing!! =)
This lounge has the best stereo system and cool ambient, so I'm giving 2 stars. Otherwise, here are the cons:
1. Bad ventilation on the main floor where the hot pot dinning area is, but good within my private room.
2. Very expensive cocktails, $14 a glass of martini, plus 9% tax and 20% gratuity, it comes up about $17 each, small and watered down.
3. Appetizers and main courses (mainly noodle soup) are ordinary dishes but doubled the price.
4. Customers are smoking within the venue.
5. Waiting services need improvement, they are poor besides Mandarin.
6. Misleading web menu, prices are actually higher.
My bill came up $1600 for 5 hours of room time, divided by 20 people which was $80 each. I enjoyed my night there but very likely won't go back.
This place was incredible! I did my birthday party there We reserved the large room for four hours and thought it would be too much karaoke... WRONG!! We ended up partying for six hours till the place closed! Everyone of us had a blast! The sound system and TV looked and sounded awesome. It was like we were in our own personal club. The service was on point through out the whole night. We were able to comfortably fit 17 people in the large room. We only ordered chicken fingers to eat and they were delicious. I will definitely be returning to this spot and so will my friends who attended. And I would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested.
Review Source:Zebra Lounge has come closer to the subway!
- Choose your seating: Bar, Shabu, Lounge area, or Karaoke.
- See-through public restrooms. Frost up when you close it. Karaoke room rates listed on the door.
- Best cocktails in Flushing. Recommended: Lychee Martini.
- Chic Taiwanese snacks. Recommended: Taiwanese sausages and sliders. Edamame is always complimentary.
- Karaoke music selection: choose European for English songs. There's no way to browse for new songs in English. Just type in a name and hope for the best. Sometimes it's easier to type song name because they misspelled the artist's name. Â
- Work in Flushing? Happy Hour until 8pm.
Came here last week for Yelps KTV madness, an elite event bringing all of us crazy yelpers together, to mingle, drink, eat, and most importantly to SING!
When I first walked in i was surprised at how big it was. A nice open bar filled the center, tables and chairs off to the right to eat, and then lounging areas, with TVs, plus karaoke rooms filled the rest of this lounge/sports bar.
The thing that I liked about Zebra Two is how comfortable it is. I mean The rooms itself to do the karaoke are obviously going to offer a decent amount of privacy, but I mean even the lounging area is fairly intimate. I say this because me and my two friends, after the event, decided to get some munchers, and after the guy brought us out food he pretty much left us to chill, and wasn't all up in our business. I mean he was very attentive, but he knew when to check up on us. The lounging area, where you don't don't do karaoke, is equipped with TVs so that the current sports games can be on (the owner explained this to us). The owner was an absolute doll. Not only did he make sure to walk around to greet and thank everyone, but he also took the time out to talk to me and my friends, joke around, and even buy us this gianormous beer that he was raving about. He was really a pleasure to deal with, and that in itself would bring me back to zebra two.
Now because I came here for a yelp event, it didn't cost me anything that particular time. I don't know the pricing, or how much it is to do karaoke, but I do know the pricing of the food (couldn't help myself, but to eat in glut), and it's very reasonable for it's delicious-ness. We had calarmi balls, French fries, fried plantains, popcorn shrimp, and mozzarella sticks- all absolutely friggen delicious!
As it was getting late, my friend actually started to doze off, on the comfy leather Seating. They didn't even bother us! There was no pressure to leave or pay right away, which is why we're able to enjoy the whole entire night.
Even though i didn't experience the karaoke here, it just made it that much better as a justifiable means to chill out here, even if I don't feel like singing!
KTV, Hotpot, Bar and Lounge all in one place? You're looking at that here! First time I came here with some coworkers I was thoroughly impressed by the decor. Granted it is quite new, this place has such a clean and pristine look I just really enjoy it!
Had the hotpot - it was alright for ~ $13 (order a plate of meat and you get assorted veggies, egg, tofu etc) but then we also grabbed a bottle of soju (mu) and it was such a nice addition ~$60. The staff don't rush you and its quite comfortable, everyone with their individual pots.
Wrap around bar. YES i love the look and the bottles are front and center. I'm no alcoholic but I just thought this was such a nice set up for the bar area. Seating looks comfortable and everyone seems to enjoy themselves there!
Lounge. SO COMFORTABLE. It's relaxing and there's giant TV screens hanging , pillows, and smaller private areas too for parties of like 6-8. We sat right in long stretch area (4 of us) and it was completely fine. You can see all the other areas but you feel like you have your own private area too.
Criticisms: We tried a few of their drinks after the soju: notably the cookie monster, jello shooters and lychee martini. The Jello Shooter (granted yea you don't normally get it outside) and cookie monster were so tiny for $6! Jelly Shooter didn't feel like it had any alcohol in it and the cookie monster was in the tiniest shot glass and not ignited! We had to ask the waitress to light it for us. The lychee martini - tasted like juice...because that;s probably all that was in it! I was a little upset, I could have downed it in one gulp and that's definitely not how a martini should be made. My coworker had to ask if she could have more alcohol in her drink or a new drink because it literally felt like there was nothing in it.
Overall: Great atmosphere, love the set-up, lounge oh and did i mention the see through bathrooms? (it's cool don't worry, it dims once you close the door). Service and shabushabu is pretty satisfactory, but the DRINKS oh my gosh. lol please please make them better and stronger! We spent a real decent amount there and felt that nothing but the bottle of soju satisfied us! Â We're definitely coming back so be readyy! haha
~chow!
I came here for a yelp event and lingered wayyyy past the time the event was supposed to end for many reasons.
Reason numbero Uno:
The little sections are so cozy and the couches are so comfy there is no way you can resist! Televisions everywhere. If you have a game you need to watch you won't miss it. Nice size TVs too. Not huge to the point you can't ignore them if you're not interested but perfect that if you do want to watch you totally can see them from anywhere.
2:
The bathrooms are spotless (downstairs). The ones upstairs are not spotless but definitely clean and so cool because the glass is see through and then you close the doors and watch the magic happen! Awesome. I was truly intrigued. After a few glasses of Ciroc you would be too!
3: Â
The food here is delicious! Perfect for ordering a whole bunch of different things and sharing. We ordered...
Crispy squid balls- They burst in your mouth! I can't even explain how scrumptious these little guys are. Nice and crisp outside. Perfectly soft on the innerds!
Sweet potato fries- This dish is tricky. When you order it you're expecting French fries just made out of sweet potatoes. Instead you get delicious white sweet potato chips. More crispy outside. Soft inside. And sweet yet savory in every little delectable circle. Served with soy sauce. So yummy!
French fries- steak cut! Not too greasy and perfectly salted. Comes with a cute little ketchup server
Mozzarella sticks- crispy outside and pully-apart inside like I like it. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the marinara sauce. It had Tabasco in it. I love everything the spicier the better BUT I'm just not a fan of the taste of Tabasco. Of course this didn't stop me from dipping everything into the marinara.
Crunchy shrimp- We got two orders and I'm glad we did. Not that it's a small serving. More that it's so delicious you'll want two. Little bite size pieces of shrimp.
Zebra has definitely mastered the art of crispness on the outside and delicious and succulent insides. Everything was tasty and I was nice and full but of course I had room to devour the steak fries.
*Based on the catfish samples I had during the yelp event and what we ordered after, this place is awesome when it comes to food. Â Everything was like 7$ which isn't expensive at all and everything was delicious. I couldn't believe it.
4:
The staff is wonderful. Super nice and totally not annoying like the staff can be at some spots. They came when we needed them and brought our orders out in a timely fashion.
The only things that sucked about this place is that it's way in the heart of Flushing and that it was freezing while I was curled up on the couch trying to get my nap on. I also wish they had some kind of curtains or something for a bit more privacy and also the lighting needs to be dimmer. Â It's a really intimate set up and would be a lot cooler with low lights and perhaps a few candles. Other than that this place is great. If in the area or just looking for a cool karaoke/sport bar spot I'd def be coming in here.
3rd time at Zebra Lounge 2 and it just gets better and better!
I chose this venue for a friend's birthday after party intending to just grab some drinks at the bar. We ended up getting a karaoke room for $50/hour (Friday night) between 9 of us; for 3 hours, it was only $22 each, with the drinks comped (included in the price of the room, like most Chinese karaoke places do).
The sound system is amazing and the song selections are pretty up to date, more so than any other I've been to. And I've been to a lot.
I think this place is a great combo, sports bar and karaoke lounge. The place is huge, has a lot of different rooms all equip with flat screens and comfy chairs. If you dont come with a large group there is also a big bar and lounge chair in the front.
This is the perfect place for a night of karaoke or to watch any sporting event.
BEEF NOODLE SOUP
FISH CHIN
SHABU
MINCED PORK OVER RICE
LIQUOR
MICROPHONE
I will be fairly entertained for quite a while. Their songs are all updated, yes, still on the radio! Everything is NEW! The food is delicious, so yummy, you'll forget it's a bar/louge and assume its a restaurant. Oh, and its opened at like 3 am when you have the munchies!
Spent my New Year's Eve counting down here at the bar, singing to my hearts content in the VIP Â room, and filling up my tummy all night long. It's like a one stop destination for all our celebrations. Why migrate to a bar after dinner, when you can just have dinner there! The guys can watch sports while I sing too!
First time here the other night for a gathering/birthday event. I was pleasantly surprised by the venue!
Food: there were complaints from my friends that some of their items were slightly high in salinity, specifically the noodles, but I was very impressed by everything else. The "Yan Su Ji" or Taiwanese Style Fried Chicken "Nuggets" are so good here that they rival some of the neighborhood authentic Taiwanese places! The fried dumplings or "guo tae" ("pot sticking/stickers") as per Elsie W.'s review, are phenomenal! Portions are smaller than I had hoped for, however. We made up for it by ordering multiples of each item. I must say that the Blue Moon Beer on tap here seemed very watered down. This made it lose one star.
Service: extremely responsive! It took me a while to figure it out, but I could pick up the phone, press the middle button and tell the server(s) precisely what I needed. This is perhaps better than a system of pressing the "call" button and expecting the server to come in and hear your order over the KTV system.
Decor: the small room for $60 (rate on weekends and Friday evenings) was probably large enough to fit 10 people. It's a great deal, until you realize that the food prices are slightly high. However, you get what you pay for. The bottles are on par with other competitors in Flushing. The sound system is amazing, though I found that there is a bit of a learning curve because the Karaoke song selection system is unlike anywhere I've been to. The bar area is slightly odd in the sense that there is hot pot being cooked at the restaurant very close by. It's an interesting mix, not sure how I feel about it. I need to spend more time at this bar to soak up the atmosphere (and the smell of cooking hot pots).Oh, and I must mention that Jando bought me a shot of Jameson for my birthday at this bar! He's the man!
This will now become my go-to KTV place in Flushing. Since Zebra Lounge 1 is under construction and this is a significantly safer area to be in anyway, I may just drop Zebra 1. Kindly note that prices are slightly higher than competitors in the area but again, you get what you pay for (generally speaking).
2 things that this place will always be associated with...
1) Crazy CMYE Â (if you are a Yelper you should know what this is. Â If you're not well then you are missing out on the PARTAY :D)
2) Odds of running into college friends who's sole purpose is to get you white girl WASTED. 100%.
Forget to check in? Â Check.
The decor is sleek and very modern. Â It must have had some crazy nights already before last night as there was a bouncer checking ids. Â
The giant square bar area made it convenient to check out the bartender both in drink prep, service and derriere. Â And even easier for my college friends mentioned earlier to come and made sure I was completed intoxicated by bringing over more bottles. Â I think I stumbled out or crawled. Â Couldn't recall. Â Good times?
There are two bathrooms, 1 per gender for general usage. Â I've been told that there are bathrooms within EACH KARAOKE ROOM as well to help alleviate the congestion of the main 2 restrooms. Â
I noticed that the service was not perfect but I've never been one to just wait for attention, I grab it by the horns. Â But if I was someone who did wait then I would have been very irked. Â Especially, if there is 2 bartenders whom can easily split the attention primarily on EITHER side of the square for better service.
I did get to try the Yelp deal drink specials after the CM had to ask for the menu as it was NOT prominently displayed for YELP DRINKS WEEK?! Â I was not amused.
I ordered the Ephemere draft which was a medium bodied with strong finishes towards the last sips. Â Wasn't my type of beer but it was very drinkable. Â
Please do note : Â the lights around the bar could be dimmer. Â It is not only distracting after the 4th or 5th drink BUT I'm sure no one is in there to read a newspaper. It would. definitely help in providing a more seductive presence that differentiates the other sections (karaoke, dining) of the venue.
P.S. - I will come back to try the SHABU. Â YES, they have a separate SHABU area within this place. Â = ).
I have been to both zebra; I enjoy this one better due to Shabu Shabu the bar. I am a big hot pot and sport fan. With zebra lounge 2; I get the best of both world.. Cheeeeers.
The place looks fresh and neat. Â Bathroom has that special effect when the door closes..the door become dark so no one outside can see through... Cool:)
I went during the Super Bowl . There were many ravens fan at the bar ( I guess those folks bet on the ravens that day so defacto ravens fan). Cheers were loud like a real sport bar. It was crowded.
The rooms look spacious and has that cool factor. The service is actually good. I cannot wait for football season next year so I can go to zebra to enjoy hot pot and football..hoooorray:)
Zebra Lounge two has only been open for a month, and I have been here ugh 3 times, and that was just within the first month of it opening. Â Like the original Zebra Lounge, there is a good assortment of beer and real cocktails, making this one of the only bars in Flushing that knows what they are doing. Â Can't say the drinks are incredible, but honestly if you have been to other bars in Flushing, and are sick of the Johnny Black, Chivas Regal, Hennesy VSOP, Heinekein, Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light and Corona, you should probably stop by this place. Â It's clean, smoke free, has a wide assortment of liquor and beer and food too.
I really liked Zebra Lounge 1 but I am also a fan of Zebra Lounge 2 since it is closer to the main area of Flushing. Â I dare even say that Zebra Lounge 1 and 2 are the best bars in Flushing. Â They play by the rules and they offer what a real bar should offer.
I came here for my birthday bash over the weekend. I booked the large room which fits my party of 15 comfortably. I love the private bathroom in the room because alcohol makes you wanna go like every 10 minutes. The room is super clean, new couches, nice walls and good quality sound system. The song selection remote was kinda confusing to select songs. I don't like the layout of it because it's not user friendly. But overall the service was good and they were attentive and they take out garbage and empty bottles away to make more space. They have dices & cups available in the room for your entertainment and drinking games.
I would most likely come back to Zebra Lounge 2 for future celebrations.
I have never been so impressed with a Karaoke place. The private rooms are super clean, super spacious, and super sound proof. Everything from the microphones to the huge TV's look brand-spanking new. Â The drinks were pricey, but really good, (and you can't wrong since the price of drinks and food is deducted from the room fee). My friend and I found the song list a bit difficult to navigate. (Sometimes, I miss the books). But they had a good variety of new and old songs, so can't complain much there either.
If it wasn't for the difficulty in figuring their song list system, i would give this place 5 stars!
This is officially my new go-to place!
I am only reviewing the karaoke bar, although the shabu area looked nice when we passed through, lined with TVs.
This is my first time in Zebra Lounge 2, as Zebra Lounge was all booked, our birthday party for 3 was booked here in their Large room. Our group of 22 fit in there comfortably, and the great thing is, there was a bathroom right in the room! The price was $100/hour, and any food or drinks ordered can be deducted from the room charge, which is a great deal. Since we ordered a few bottles & some food and the room paid for itself.
The song selection was good as well, Â Zebra Lounge and Zebra Lounge 2 had the actual music videos of the artists for American songs, unlike some other places I've been to that had either a video of some lady waving a silk scarf in the air at the beach or just a blue screen with the lyrics on there.
There was an intercom in the room to get service, the wait staff very attentive.
Had a great time here, will definitely return.
Couldn't believe that Flushing has such a upscale Lounge. I was impressed with the low dim light and what makes it more fancy is they have a large island bar with all the liquor stock in the middle. They have total of 8 TV surrounding the bar showing different kind of sports.
Alright enough with the nice decor. Lets move on to the food and drinks menu. I couldn't believe they have such variety of cocktails/beers/liquor!!! My favorite was Avatar Jasmine IPA and 60 Minutes IPA. My friend had a glass of Peach Delight and Zebra Iced Tea which was really great. The bartender was nice and attentive and when I order the beer they filled the little bucket with ice and water and put it in front of us so we could enjoy our cold beer at all time. After the drinks I notice they had Karaoke room at the back so I ask one of the waiter to give a tour. They have 4 different type of room, Small, Medium, Large, VIP. All of their room has a private bathroom which is clean and convenient . I was really obsessed with one of their VIP room that has 4x 60inch TV mounted to the wall and their song navigation was very easy to use and they actually have the original music video for the song.
After I was done touring I've decided to go to the bathroom. At first glimpse I was like why is the window showing the toilet and I ask one of the waiter to check if there was any problem with the bathroom. Then magic happen... Once you closed the door the film will automatically shut off and you can't see through unless the door is open and the film will automatically reopen again.
I will definitely come back and try out their Karaoke Room.!!
A review about the bar, and less about karaoke & shabu shabu
----------------------------
I really want to like this joint, but it just ain't doing it for me.
This bar has a lot of merits ..I like the atmosphere - the dark wood matched with the quirky lighting, the long island bar (hah see what I did there), the somewhat closed off bars, and the loungey down tempo electronic music (by pandora- which should be premium to avoid the commercials.. come on.. it's like $20 a year to not have commercials!). Â It's a kind of environment you don't see in Flushing's gritty ghetto Asian bars.
There's also a large selection of beverages you won't find in the area or at least not all together like they have set up... like Dark rum, a selection of fine whisky's/single malt's (they have Macallan 12, 18, 50!), great tap beer selection (Delerium Tremens, Guinness, Goose Island Matilda/Seasonal, Magic Hat #9), a wide selection of bottled beers, sake, wine options, and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks including a homemade ginger ale.
Sounds all dandy and amazing for a bar set up right? Yes, but unfortunately the place isn't equipped with a decent cocktail program and/or knowledgable bartenders of the craft. Â Their cocktail program is 80% vodka drinks, the rest are sweet drinks that may or may note be creamy. Â This may be fine, but I think they can do so so much more with their variety. Â Call me a liquor snob in the wrong part of town, but I think there's so much potential here.
To play the devil's advocate for a moment. I suppose they don't believe they need a cocktail program with their impressive variety in the area. possibly short market for a better one, and drunk karaoke people don't need a jilt of class in their drinks before they get crazy with the mic, but it seems they're trying to be this jack of all entertainment kind of place like how modern consoles strive to be your HDMI port 1 for your all access entertainment. Â You've got shabu shabu in the dining area, a large well equipped bar for the neighborhood, karaoke rooms all around, and a very cozy atmosphere. Â Why not also make them the only cats in town that will have the best drinks in town?
Props to the staff for dealing with my "out of the ordinary" drink requests. Â They tried their best to fulfill my requests for drinks off the menu, but I suppose I'm barking up the wrong tree here right? Â
Call me picky, call me pretentious, call me a cocktail geek (no don't, that sounds dorky- cocktail drinking extraordinaire sounds cooler) call me spoiled due to frequenting some of the best bars in NY, call me what you want, I'm probably a mix of all of that, and perhaps not the target market for the joint but I'd like to come here more often if they can improve. Â At the moment, I really have no reason to go here for tipple over a place like... Dutch kills which isn't too far away and has a cocktail program a million times better than Zebra lounge. Â (I'm not saying to see the quality of drinks at Dutch Kills at Zebra lounge, but something to contend would be nice.) Â Unfortunately this place is just a nice looking lounge where I can have a beer or sip a whisky, nothing more, I don't see many reasons I'd go here besides being lazy to travel.
This is the second Zebra Lounge in Flushing opened by the owner of Minnie's Shabu Shabu next door. This location has similar decor and has a large island bar. There are two lounge areas where you can sit and relax with your friends. The karaoke rooms are more spacious. I rented out a big room for 10 for about $108 an hour. Like all Flushing karaoke joints the food and drinks are credited with the monies spent on the room. The English song selection is much better than the other Zebra Lounge location. My only complaint was that there was some feedback in the sound system but I managed to adjust it out after a couple of tries. There was a private bathroom but no fridge or coffee maker in the karaoke room. At the front of the house they offer hotpot similar to the hotpot offered at Minnie's. This is the swankiest lounge in Downtown Flushing as of today. Definitely will be back. There was a line out the door the night I was here.
Review Source:Zebra Lounge 2, I really wanted to love you. I really really wanted to. But compared to the original Zebra Lounge, it just isn't the same.
The newest karaoke/bar is right next to a shabu shabu restaurant, which is definitely convenient. But what I loved about the original Zebra is that when you walk in, there's a "wow" factor, with the dim lighting, the low seats and comfy sofas and the bar setup with the TV screens. It was the "posh"-esque feel in an area that doesn't really do lounges very well. When I walked into the new lounge, the bar is to the right of the main hallway and all of the karaoke rooms to the left and downstairs. The service was fine - no complaints. From what I saw from just one visit, the rooms are spacious and clean with quite an extensive selection of songs, which is important.
I do like the food and the drink selection but it is exactly the same as the original. I guess I was hoping that Zebra would do something a little different, especially in a new location that is much closer to the major transportation hubs. I definitely had a great time with friends but I think I'll stick with the original one for now.
