    Happy Hour!

In case you haven't figured this one out, cause it is confusing, Zio's is separated from Tony P's (formerly Pasquinis) by a doorway. One side is the family friendly pizza joint, the other is the darker deadhead bar which serves the same food. Guess which one I went to?

You're looking for crazy cheep beer and a slice in lohi? Hard to come by these days as the Northwest part of town gets more trendy but here it is.

Phish and Dead on the speakers, awesome staff, GREAT drink specials, and eggplant rotoli FTW!!! I'm not as much of a regular as I'd like to be!

This place is great!  I go here when I want to hang out and grab a slice.  You cannot beat their happy hour special - $2 slices with up to 3 toppings!  And the slices are BIG.

The ambience is nice for a small bar.  Make sure you look up and check out the Barbie dolls hanging off the lights.

It can get crowded so get there early or plan to stand until a seat opens up.

I like this place.  It's our friend's neighborhood haunt since he lives a few streets away.  Every time I've come here I'm already a bit tipsy but they are a great place for night caps.  Their drinks are STIFF and the beer is moderately priced, in comparison to Denver's Downtown bars.

They have live music sometimes and you can also order pizzas next door until last call!  What a lifesaver.

Worth checking out if you are in the area!

Rodney and Quinn are the best bartenders in Denver.  Dead Night!  That's all I have to say.

We met up with a big group of friends here on a Friday night, and it was great. Our server was fantastic, very amicable and efficient, and most impressively, was able to keep all of our tabs individually even though we all kept changing seats. They have a great selection of beers, and the sangria is AMAZING! All of this, and great prices too. A carafe of sangria for $7!?! I'm in.

This little joint is sandwiched next to Pasquini's.  They have a lot of bottled and canned beers and great nightly specials and happy hour.  Even though this part is just a bar you can order anything you want to eat from Pasquini's which was nice.

What's better than the Highland Happy Meal? Slice of pizza, PBR and a shot. Zio's is a great spot for a cheap happy hour.

I'm not a fan of sitting in the restaurant area of Pasquini's since the tables are so crowded and the service is usually lackluster, but Zio Romolo's is a great neighborhood hang out. The happy hour deals for food and drinks are amazing AND it's damn near all day on Saturday and Sunday! I love coming here for the comfy booths, friendly servers and bartenders, great music and cheap beers.

We're just visiting Denver, co to do a performance, and are used to Portland, OR where it's easy to find gluten & potato free snacks just about anywhere. In addition to the incredibly helpful & friendly bartenders, the manager floored us with his awesomeness. Being an pizza & calzone kind of restaurant, there was no food on the menu for celiac ladies. The manager came to where we were sitting and listened intently to our food sensitivities and then darted off with a glimmer in his eye. The cook came out with the most creative-but-still-bar-food-style snack we ever had! A great experience :)

Zios is a great place - mostly because of the happy hour - which runs twice a day. The drink specials are amazing - $3 draft (mircobrews) and wells and you can't beat the happy meal: a slice of pizza, a shot, and a beer for $5. I have only ever been for happy hour, but I do love me some Pasquini's so the fact that they serve Pasquini's food will bring me back.

The only down side? This place is small! It was literally built in an alley (they have since expanded into the store front next door) but it is still a TIGHT squeeze. Get there early if you don't want to spend the night moving out of the way.

A friend suggested we meet here for drinks and I had to google it, tried Yelp first but had the spelling all wrong! So whats up with this place, its a long skinny room with a bar in it and a high top table in the front window. Not sure why it needs it own name as its connected to Pasqunis with an open doorway and even the receipt says Pasquinis Bar and Pizzeria.
They had Left Hands Milk stout and Ellie's Brown ale on tap and obviously you can order pizza. The music was kinda loud but at least it was good. It doesn't take many people to fill up the place but it seems like a decent neighborhood bar tho I wouldn't make a special trip again.

Neeener, neener, NEENER!! This is my local bar. Gawd, I love this place. Let me count the ways:

    1. Moscow Mule Mondays ($3) ... need I say more? I once saw a girl so shity that Rodney had to call a cab and shove her in it while she whinnied about how her ex cheated on her (he was sitting at the bar too)
    2. Hungry? They serve Pasquini's full menu.
    3. I love Quin and the email he sends each Tuesday to inspire all the Deadheads to come in for whiskey and to hear a live set played by GD (also switched up with some Phish, Loyd or Widespread)
    4. Super Happy Hour? Yes, yes! Check out the 'Happy Meal' too
    5. I love Jenna with her sass and skill at keeping all my friends hydrated during Thursday trivia.
    6. Saturday wine specials. I've seen $15 bottles and $5 discounts on bottles
    7. Live music many nights and more frequent the warmer the weather gets.
    8. Speaking of good weather, they have those awesome garage door windows so you can have a cocktail and feel the breeze
    9. Yahtzee!!!! Go to the bar and ask to roll the dice. $1 per roll with a chance to win the pot.
    10. Local loyalty. They open early for Broncos games and US Soccer too.

Well, I think you get the point. Zio's Rocks.

Cool place - I can definitely see why a lot of people would like it, but it's not my number one for sure.

The happy hour specials are awesome - really awesome. I think that is a big draw (it's certainly why we stepped in) but it does lead to what was for me the biggest detractor. This was packed. I mean if we weren't sliding sideways, we were standing ballsack to buttcheek with someone else. This is compounded by the fact that there is some significant foot-traffic from the restaurant next door as well by the waitstaff making their way back and forth to the bar.

Obviously, this means this place is loud; which doesn't bother me but certainly will some people (who I don't really even care to know.) As a bonus, the music ends up being pretty loud, and it was good. The dude behind the bar who was running it off of his iPod had some fantastic taste.

Cool place, if you don't mind crowds you'd probably like it quite a bit. If you don't, shoot for some times where a lot of other people might not be out drinking. Sure, you might look like a bitter, lonely drunk, but who says that's a bad thing?

Great place to grab a drink or nine (Don't judge me) in the Highlands. Pizza is very good, and the staff and crowd are generally always really cool. Fun place to go.

It's really nice before the crowds start to show up, Yeah whatever I like supper at 4 pm.

Holy Moses, Mary and Joseph, this places happy hour is ridiculous good!!!  Stumbled on in here on a hair of the dog type Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to say the least.  The PBR's were a $1, the one topping slices of Pasquini's were $1 and the shot of beam was $3...whoa, whoa, whoa!!!

This is a must stop for the frugal boozer!  I recommend anyone and everyone to head over to the bar.  This bar has awesome service, great food and spectacular drinks, I say GO HERE IMMEDIATELY!

I have decided that I love this place. I wish I lived next door to such a perfect bar. For all my Horseshoe Girls, this is the Hi-lands equivalent of the shoe, but not so dirty. The interior is totally welcoming in a nostalgic college-days sort of way. It could be any campus bar in Anywhere, USA.
    Live music, always a bonus.
    Great cocktails.
    Classy staff.
    Well done!

As others have mentioned: LOUD LOUD LOUD music. Don't expect to hold a conversation here. They really should re-think this concept. The acoustics here just magnify everything. I could see where this could bring on a headache. It was just annoying.

It was okay......I was expecting more somehow. I thought the front bar was set up kinda weird too...with your back to the door.. Too bad the window don't open up to the sidewalk; that would make it seem less claustophonic. Service was good. $2 BPRs. We watched the bartender shine his flashlight on bases of all the liquor bottles....???

I could see repeat visits here if you live close by but otherwise I don't know if make the trip.

bleh. Mediocre Goombah Italian food. I've tried it about 10 times now and the food is always a pile of bread and cheese with nothing else to remark about aside from the morning after greasy cheese bomb. Also, not once have I had good service here. When they are busy I can never find the person who is ignoring me. When they are slow that same person is never to be found no matter what their name is that day.

Good happy hour, nice beer & wine selection, very friendly & helpful staff.  If you have a small group of people, the adjoining room works out great for having drinks and a bite to eat.  Zio Romolo's shares the Pasquini's kitchen, so fill up on some pizza if you're looking for a bite to eat with your beverage!
Great place to come if you're not in the mood to get dolled up or pay $12 for a cocktail.

Good entertainment in a very small, rather akward bar.

So, first off, this is NOT the place to bring a large group. We shoved 8 people into one booth and it was not so comfortable. This is more a place to check out with a friend or two.

The live music was great, a band called "Better than Bacon". While I agree that they were quite good and had us groovin' along and some rather tipsy ladies dancing along, I cannot confirm their claim. I am not sure that there is anything better than bacon (except for the bacon donut at The Hole on Tennyson), but these guys made a valiant attempt. But, another complaint about the seating, none of it seemed oriented to watch the band. And, the music there is very, very loud. So, watching the band is about all you can do, because you sure can't carry on a conversation at your table.

We had a great time downing some shots of Jager and wishing our friend a happy birthday, but it was just a bit akward. I think they really could do something great with this place if they would re-think the furniture and its arrangement. I do love the garage-door-style windows that lift to the patio, though.

So, overall, mixed feelings about this place. If I was in the area with just one or two friends, I might head on in. But, I don't think it would come to mind as a great place to hang on a Saturday night, you know?

I'll admit it: I am in love with this bar's happy hour.  I don't know why- maybe because it reminds me of a bar I went to in college.  Cheap drinks, made well, simple, comfortable atmosphere.

The food- well, I had a slice of pizza the first time, not so great, but the second time, free breadsticks that were to die for, at least for me.  I don't know if I can stomach the pizza again- sorry Pasquini's, but the drinks are just perfect.

I have always been a fan of this place! Nice, relaxed and easy to order. Why the five star -- show up and 20-30 mins before closing and they typically have 2-3 pizzas floating around the bar for anyone :)

While they don't have outdoor seating -- with the garage doors open during the summer -- it does give you that feeling.

    Late night cool!?

This place is attached to one of the best italian restaurants in Denver. Drink prices are great but bar staff is hit miss. When they hit, it's a home run. When they miss, walk away. No one likes long drink times or feeling like staff that have just got off, and sitting at the bar, are more important than the patrons. It doesn't happen to often but when it does, you're better off walking to one of the other drinking holes close by.  That being said, if you like the extreme tattoo attitude seen, you'll love this place. If that's not your flavor, try somewhere else.

Over all they're a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

Cute location, garage door windows, loud loud bands, cool bar.

Been here once for din din and happy hour - yeah!
Server was a friend of our dining companion and made sure we got in one last glass of wine before happy hour ended. Eggplant Sandwich was ok, pizza looked amazing.

Visiting again late night for a friends B-day. A cute band was playing, but it was loud and nearly impossible to chat.

I'd go early evening to enjoy the location, the weather and time with friends!

Wow, quite literally you feel like you are drinking in a freaking small alley, but a nice alley at that. I came for a quick drink with a friend and the music was so loud I couldn't even hear him talking sitting next to me. Sure it was Grateful dead night, but did the music have to be so loud? Or is this what happens as I get older, I complain about the music?!?!?

Otherwise, cool spot, connected to Pasquini's on 32nd and Zuni. They also no longer serve pizza shots to my dismay.

    Hoooooooooooooraaaaay!!! A fine establishment!
Great daily specials! We got a pitcher of (great!! not gross sour mix) margaritas for $12!! AND, we were newbies and as soon as we sat down both the bartenders came over to say howdy and introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood bar. OH MY!! I LOVE me some good customer service.
Not only will we be back, we may just become regulars. So there!!

I would have gone with 4 stars if the music weren't so loud. It was so loud it gave me a headache along with my first drink of the night. I'm tempted to give two stars because the music was so loud, but Zio Romolo's Alley Bar is so aesthetically pleasing it ALMOST makes up for how cacophonously irritating it is.

The bar itself is very cool looking, with the exposed brick wall, tin ceiling tiles, and classic behind the bar furniture. The staff was friendly. So friendly that they kept hugging each other. Maybe they were mother and son.

They seem to have excellent specials every night of the week. I'll be sure to tell my token hippie friend about their Grateful Dead night. He likes music so loud that you can't think. He'll love this bar.

Maybe you will too, if you're hard of hearing. I would have loved the Alley Bar if I were deaf.

This bar is really close to my apartment, so I am there a lot. The staff have gone the distance and made an effort to remember my name and chat with me when I come in as opposed to acting like they've never seen me before, which some other places do.

As for the food, it's pasquinis, so the Pasquinis reviews cover that. The atmosphere is comfortable, and they do a good job to make sure you're taken care of whether you're eating or just there for drinks. They usually have some sort of good drink deal going on.

Overall, I really like having a place like Zios so close. It's become "the bar" the my friends and I.

Little did I know I've been sitting in Zio Romolo's Alley Bar almost every time I go to Pasquini's! That explains the excellent beer specials. For example, yesterday you could get 3 bottles of Sessions in a bucket for $6. Last night we were treated to a live bluegrass band as well as $3 shots of Jameson (both every Wednesday - all night). Not to mention, I'm pretty sure we each received a 3-oz pour. Great way to start off a Wednesday evening, as well as ensuring I was in bed asleep by 9pm. I'll concern myself with their happy hour on my next visit, but for those who never seem to make it out early enough for HH, their other specials each night of the week will take good care of you.

Just found this great bar in my new 'hood! This place is fantastic: Jackie is the best! Zio's is a clean, warm, friendly bar at which to chat with neighbors while sip'n $3 Jameson (Wed. night special). I didn't try the food, but it looked and smelled yummy. Also, they just started bringing in live music: Hats off to the Gristle Gals (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpages%2FThe-Gristle-Gals%2F214405165166%3Fv%3Dinfo&s=3fcb6e04cb10121078d5e638fe46c36538711f1e1f9e9904c1ad3e49497fb5b0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.facebook.com/…</a>) who played Alabama Song for us after I bought 'em shots of said $3 Jameson ("Big Spender!"). Best neighborhood bar in Denver!

Quinn and Rodney are the best friends a barhound can have... cheap PBR's and refreshing sangria.  Jen the server is terrific and friendly!  With Pasquini's next door, grab a delicious bite to eat (pizzas are always consistently good).  And on Tuesday nights, come by and meet some cool people of the neighborhood, jamming along to the great-full sounds of the Grateful Dead!  I rarely miss a show!

Nowadays, I don't go anywhere else...  the Alley Bar ROCKS!

This is totally my neighborhood bar.  Occasionally the bar tender is a little slow getting the drinks out, but only because it's such a fun, friendly, family-like atmosphere (family-like in the sense of a family of drunks).  They treat everyone here like a local.

I love the alley sized bar and mechanic shop theme.  Plus, Pasquini's is right next door, so you can order a slice of pizza when you've had one too many beers.

I love love love this bar... or adult lounge, or alley bar, or whatever it is.  It's attached to Pasquini's Pizzeria, so you can order their delicious pizza while knocking back a few drinks.  They even have something called a "pizza shot", which tastes exactly like... you guessed it... pizza.  It's a shot of vodka infused with Italian seasonings, with a parmesan cheese rim, and pepperoni chaser (think salt, tequila, lime... but cheese, vodka, pepperoni).

The bartender is one of the best... can't remember his name, just that he's from Vermont.  Very personable and someone you just want to hang out all night with.  The atmosphere is very cool too: an Art Deco theme.  It once was an actual working alleyway, and still has the original 1940's coca-cola painted brick wall, along with original antiques, as a tribute to the history of the building and that time period.

And the best part is, this bar has the best drink specials!  Their happy hour runs everyday from 4-7pm with $2.50 premium well drinks, Bud Light drafts, and select Red and White wine glasses.  And then each day of the week has a different special that runs all night:

Sunday: PBR & Pizza slice $4
Monday: PBR & Well shot $5
Tuesday: Margarita Pitchers $12, Glasses $3
Wednesday: 3 Fat Tire Cans for $5, or 1 Fat Tire Can for $1
Thursday: Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night, 18" Pizza 3-toppings $16.99
Friday: Harp & Guiness Pints $4
Saturday: 15 Select bottles of wine for $15

Along with the great drink specials, pizza, and trivia night, they also have Grateful Dead Tuesdays, when they play a classic live show.  How cool is that?  Is it bad that a really want to go there right now? (it's 9:25am)  So Yes, this bar is that cool.  Go there.

Terrific for Happy Hour and $5 pitchers of Sangria on Thursdays (if they still do that... I forgot to note when I was there to see if that's still a special they run).

But happy hour: $3 pints of the house beer (something light she said [not my thing]), $3 glasses of house red/white wine, and $3 wells (which I was told is a "premium well").  It runs from 4-7pm (that extra hour makes it especially nice), and they also have daily specials along side the standard HH.  I was there on a Friday night, and their chalkboard said "Irish Pint Night"... but I'm not sure what that means.

There is the main bar area which is relatively small with very few available seats pretty much every time I've gone in, but they have a regular seating area between the actual bar and the Pasquini's restaurant side which is first-come seating, but with table service.  You can have just drinks but it's also the ideal spot to eat from Pasquini's because you're not bumping elbows with the patron next to your barstool.

The booth/table side of the bar is very dim and rustic with the original brick wall still in place, but it was LOUD last night.  Like... some grody bar in LoDo loud.  I guess all the 30-something Highlands-ers were verbally competing over who drove the better Audi or something, or maybe whose toddler was getting the best early learning experience, but I found myself having to yell to the three others at my booth to be heard.  Still, I will definitely be back (maybe with earplugs and a bullhorn) because the drinks were cheap and the Chevre pizetta from Pasquini's was very delicious.

Wednesday: $5 buckets of fat tire. $2 cans of fat tire.

You can order from Pasquini's next door. Cozy as all get out. They just put up some walls in an alley and then BAM! It's a bar.

Tender slightly messed up our order but he was super nice so I will excuse it.

There are specials everyday and they aren't just happy hour, it's all day.
