This is a great place to hit up on Sundays. I have never gone on other days but it is half price rolls and it gets pretty busy in here. You will want to try to time your visit as you could be waiting for a while if you do not. They also have ok drink specials. The staff has always been great, though the service can take a bit because of how busy they are.

I have been here many times before and will go many more. You really should check this place out.

    Great place for Sunday sushi
The service and food are both always amazing here. To boot Sunday is half price rolls so you can't beat it. Try the new Rock and Roll

Good sushi. Half off Sundays (yay). No tap beers (boo).  Our waiter was top notch.  The host was sub par.

I have been here 3x now and while the sushi is great, super original rolls, I am very unimpressed by the service. I have been alone both times and neither bartender/server has paid barely any attention to me.  Is it that hard for them to even be friendly or start a conversation when I am the only person at the bar.  It comes across as pretentious or snobby and there is nothing worse than giving a restaurant your business and the servers a great tip when it seems like the staff could care less. I would give it 3.5 stars b/c ultimately the sushi is very good, always super fresh. I just wish the staff were more approachable and friendly. I think that goes a long way in a restaurant etc. hope this helps and if you do have a suggestion of a better sushi place, I would love to hear it!!

I've been to 45 Degrees two times, both on Half-price nights, & both times I've loved it!  If you eat just 1 roll, make it The Playboy. Not only does it come lit on fire, it literally is a fire of flavor in your mouth. I also have had their California Roll, nothing too special about it. The edamame is really fresh, & the house salad is to die for.

Half priced Sundays are probably what keeps this place in business. Uber trendy vibe, which is cool, funky art everywhere. Drinks are awesome. I wouldn't ever pay full price for the sushi though. Some other things are the menu are pretty good, particularly recommend the octopus salad.

I love this place. The service is consistent, though I have only had one server with personality, maybe my luck, but solid nonetheless. The sushi is excellent, salads and apps are great and dessert...well, let's just say don't try the white chocolate squares. It's flavorless, hard and boring. Definitely needs work.

I like to come here for their half price sushi. I have to say it is not necessarily the best sushi I have ever had but when it is half price I feel like it is now worth what I pay for it. The service is sometimes very slow so I usually try to go when I know I have loads of time and nothing better to do. The bartenders are usually very nice and polite and the drinks are pretty great. They released a new menu recently which looks interesting but I have not yet tried it. I can't say that I would never go again but in all the times I have gone I've never had a "WOW" experience. Needless to say I've never had a horrible experience which would deter me from returning for 1/2 price sushi on Sundays.

This place is a rip-off!  I've eaten here in the restaurant several times as well as delivery from A-la-carte.  Just ordered the Hamachi 3 Way.  The cooked hamachi is WAY overdone (it's really not that hard to cook tuna folks!).  Not to mention that on their A la carte menu, they say you get potatoes, asparagus and a 45 degree salad.  When that wasn't delivered with the entree, A la carte called the restaurant for me.  They told the girl it doesn't come with that stuff.  Really?!  A $21 ENTREE doesn't come with something you have on the menu?  The food is really not that great to keep me coming back and it's ridiculously overpriced!  This is not Manhattan or Chicago people!

The sushi on Sundays sounds like a great idea! Actually, you can't take any of the sushi that you ordered home because of the half-price deal and you cannot order out the half-price sushi. It is also pretty pricey -- California roll is $8.00.

Great place for food, drinks or both!  They have Half-Priced sushi on Sundays and the food is probably the best sushi you will find downtown.

Very busy on Friday and Saturday nights as this place also has a DJ.  Very reminiscent of the New York type restaurant as this can also be considered a "mini-club" in my opinion.

Service is always great and more often than not, the owner is usually there interacting with the guests, which I find rare!

They also have Half-Priced Martini's on Thursdays and their selection of unique cocktails is quite extensive.

Definitely a must try for first timers.

My tip:  The Playboy Roll is literally on fire and I could eat them everyday if I could.  And the Banana Split martini is delicious!

Once again experiencing this Mass Ave area and all that it has to offer, which doesn't seem much, my sister and I came here for sushi. We ordered 3 rolls which were of good size but one little flaw.......there was a bug crawling on our Pennsylvania roll. We didn't tell the waiter or anyone else, I just got rid of it with my chop stick and then asked for a new set. I typically don't have a problem with such things but I was sure my sister would freak out however she didn't. We still ate the other rolls leaving the one that had the bug on it. Generally it was ok but the prices are very high! Our bills where $42+ even though we split the rolls and we each had 3 martinis.  A little to high for my liking.  Thankfully the service was good.

The ambience here has certainly improved and 1/2 price sushi Sundays can't be beat.   They have a good sushi/roll selection so if you are a sushi fan then there will certainly be something that you like here - it's just a matter of trying them all to find it.  Given that I'm in the neighborhood, I'd certainly revisit to take advantage to the Sunday special.

I really enjoyed my experience at 45 Degrees. The food, while pricy, was enjoyable. The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. I didn't try the sushi which seems to be the focus of several complaints. I would definitely go back again.

This place has always been on my mediocre list. But the owner (Bill) has been making great strides over the past year to change up the place from a weird ultra-lounge vibe, to more of a restaurant/bar/sushi vibe. This place has definitely improved, in my opinion.

And on Sundays they do half-priced sushi. The quality of their sushi has gotten better as well. Looking forward to spending more time here.

The service was good. That's about where things end. Miso soup and edamame were ok, but the sushi rolls had way too high a rice to filling ratio. Maybe it's because we went on half price roll night, but it was just too much.

The roll ideas were good - Thai Kiss was an interesting fusion - but I probably wouldn't go back, even on half price night.

I absolutely love the ambiance and vibe of this place. I went here on a Friday night, just happening to stroll by and the moment I walked in I loved the coolness of this place. They had great martinis, a little on the pricey side, 8 bucks! I didn't try any of the sushi, but next time I'll go I'll be definitely be trying it.This place works for me coming from California, all our nightlife vibe is exactly like this.

Solid plate presentation but a little retro gay Miami for my liking after 9pm but pre-sunset and tight man-capris... You'll find a variety of patrons.  No matter what your taste... You can't BEAT half price sushi rolls on SUNDAY.  Get some... Seriously... No seriously .... Get some

    Nothing special about 45 degrees...

Had date night with the hubby here last night. I had the spicy tuna and soft crab rolls. The Tuna roll was OK but I prefer my spice sauce in the roll, not on top. Good nonetheless. The soft crab roll as recommend on Yelp was much better and very much enjoyed. Hubby, a non sushi eater, ordered the chicken Cesar salad which he said there was nothing outstanding about the dish, but good. There some spice to it which I enjoyed from what he shared. We both had a little bit of sticker shock from the prices of the non sushi entrees.  Nevertheless, the decor was very nice, service was alright. I loved seating on the patio on a nice day office end of Mass Ave.

I would not go out of my way to eat here. Not sure if we will be back. Overall, the food was just OK.

The sushi menu is fairly wide with some really great options.  Sundays provide the same options but at half price.  As I'm a big fan of spicy, sweet Thai sauce, the Thai Kiss will always be my favorite roll, but there are a wide variety of other rolls that I enjoy grabbing off of my friend's plates and ordering as a second option.

For the non-sushi lovers, this place also has a wide number of non-Asian options to enjoy as well.  As I'm a sushi-lover, I am unable to provide you with a review of these items as I have never tried anything from that menu.  I doubt I will ever try anything from that menu as if I come here, it's for the sushi.

The patio is a fun place to be on First Fridays during the summer.  It is definitely among my favorite places to kick off First Friday, before heading over to the Art Bank and other nearby art studios.

The place is a bit over-priced.  The sushi rolls should all be priced a few dollars lower than they are and so I will likely make most of my visits here on Sundays.  There are many other sushi restaurants in the city that are a much better bargain for the sushi quality.  Thus it is better to consider the other attributes of this place, such as the atmosphere and great drink list, when making the decision of whether to come here.

The drink menu here is fun and the design of the interior of this place is unique and modern.  For these reasons, it's great place if you are looking for a chic location to eat a Playboy Roll.

I've been to Forty Five about 10 times in the last year.  Overall, I have found the sushi to be decent, and the staff sometimes pretentious and sometimes friendly, and the vibe a bit of a turnoff.  It was a nice change-up so I still came back.  I won't be coming back again.

The service on my last trip was terrible.  After being ignored for an hour waiting on 3 rolls, I asked what the status was.  I was told I was next, which is odd considering I was watching people show up and be served in the interim.15 minutes later I asked the front desk to cancel my order (because I couldn't find my server again).  Instead of cancelling it, they found my rolls and delivered them.  I sent them back anyway, paid the drink tab (which was substantial being we had waited so long), and left.

My server then told me they were 'under-staffed" because people had called in.  This information would have been good to have before I placed my order.  Having known the wait, I could have made an informed decision.  It wasn't overly crowded.  Instead, they lost a customer.

The vibe is a bit Electro clubby, a bit Sci-Fi Star Trek ish.  Been there twice and never tried their food, would be interesting to try their sushi one day just to see how it compares and if there are any decent Sushi places in Indy.  On the road a lot so I'm a tough sale.

Drinks are good, a bit pricy for area.  Booth seating was not very comfortable.  Never busy when I've been there and most don't order food, just drinks -- which might say something about their food.  People tend to go in small groups. They turn into a martini bar later in the night..  Younger crowd.  I think I will save my fanfare for Chicago or NYC thanks... A bit overpriced for Indy when everyone else is serving $2-4 drinks.  Granted not martinis, but hey you get the buzz just the same.

    Don't drink and drive Indy!

Imagine if the Jetsons designed a restaurant and decided to serve pasta alongside sushi and, in effect, you have 45 degrees.  Planted at the corner of mass ave and college is one of the most distinct-looking restaurants in Indianapolis for sure.  It's essentially triangular-shaped and has this tomorrowland interior.  You'll either find it jarring and kitschy or space-age cool.  I personally like it.

They have a diverse selection of entrees and I'll admit, I've only had a few pasta dishes but I had no complaints.  Nothing special but nothing heinous either.  The real draw is half-price sushi on Sundays.  ANY sushi for half-price--tell me of a better deal in Indianapolis?  Even my cheapskate friends make it here on Sundays as a result.  The sushi selection is one of the best in Indy and although probably not authentic, it's still tasty.  If you want a great martini, they have half-price martinis on Wednesdays when it becomes a club at night.  Decent atmosphere but not my thing personally. I'd rather just grab a beer at a pub.

The service has been consistently good for me and my girlfriend loves to ogle the waiters, even if they are mostly gay she seemed to appreciate that.

Although I probably wouldn't come here outside of Wednesday and Sunday, 45 degrees offers a truly unique atmosphere that would certainly appeal to a specific clientele.  Not my cup of tea, but it's a signature place for Mass Ave and I hope Indy has more cutting-edge, adventurous places like this.

    Miami vibe in the Midwest...

I was getting ready to deploy overseas when I realized that my last dinner in the US just HAD to be sushi.  Armed with a rental car and 2 friends, we headed here on a reccomendation in an attempt to satisfy what could be a year's worth of sushi cravings (and alcohol, too)

The restaurant is called 45 degrees for a reason, it is at the corner of 2 streets (Mass Ave and N. College Ave).  The entire inside of the restaurant is decked out like a cool Miami lounge with raised booths along the ceiling to floor windows and some seating for 4 at tables in the middle.  The DJ is raised against the wall caddy to the bar and is spinning fun, but relatively loud music in the evenings.  It was definitely a cool place to go to if you don't plan on trying to get to know someone over dinner - you definitely wouldn't hear the whole conversation.

While we were mistaken to think this place was a classic sushi place, the fish was surprisingly fresh for a fusion restaurant =)

We had a bunch of rolls and sashimi and an appetizer:

    Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops  -
Wrapped with bacon, these jumbo scallops are served atop a basil pesto sauce and garnished with sun-dried tomato tortilla strips.
    - these were amazing.  Although they only came with 4 or 5 (don't remember) the sauces were perfectly matched to this already perfect combo.  The scallops were seared and the bacon was crispy

Corona Roll - Tuna, jalapeno, avocado, cilantro, topped with white tuna and lime.
This was one of their newer rolls, but it was amazing!  The lime perfectly matched what was needed in this roll

Zen - 8pc Yellowtail, jalapeno, cilantro, cucumbers, tobiko and ponzu sauce.
Spicy, creamy to match the buttery taste of yellowtail with the crunch of cucumber and cilantro to add that extra savory/deep flavor..YUMM

Island -  8pc Tuna, asparagus, tempura and jalapeno. Topped with white tuna, avocado, tobiko and eel sauce.
    - MMM give me anything with tempura in it and it taste great!

Mount Fuji - (fc) 10pc Shrimp tempura, asparagus, spicy crab, cream cheese, tempura fried and topped with volcano sauce.
    ALSO very good.

I was happy that the rice wasn't SMASHED into the nori and that the fish to rice ratio was 1:10 - i hate when rice is overloaded into rolls.

i also ordered a cocktail, but when I found out that here was half and half in it, i didn't even have to tell the server, he just took it back and replaced my drink.. =)  The martini's are good here, try them out

overall - Fun, trendy place with a lounge feel, good location (Mass Ave is filled with fun stores/restaurants and artsy culture) - Good sushi

DOWNSIDE... parking is hard and it can get loud -
Pricing - not sure because i have DC and NYC prices in mind when i think of sushi, but it may have been overpriced.. someone else can clarify that for me.

check it out.. i was happy i made it my last dinner in the states.

Have you ever eaten a meal that could be described as sushi, cajun, and italian all at the same time...with LASERS??? Well, now I have. Wee.

I had sushi and my companion had Cajun pasta. The pasta was slightly overcooked angel hair but there was plenty of slightly spicy cream sauce covering it...tasted great. I ordered miso soup (yum), an eel roll, and a philly roll. The sushi was very tasty and extremely well made. Fillings were centered, pieces were the right size to get into your mouth, and wrapped tight so nothing fell apart. However, I did find a hair in my eel roll, which kinda grossed me out.

Overall, this place MIGHT be a bit too trendy for me, what with the blue lights, the molded white plastic chairs, the DJ booth, and the lasers. The booths are huge though, so if you want to come with a large group of friends and drink martinis, it just might be ideal for you. Also, a very good option for those sushi eaters who have no sushi-eatin' friends. Our server gave us very good service, she checked back often and was friendly without being fake.

So I guess if you're not a gay man you don't get the best service. I went there for half price sushi (I know I shouldn't expect five star service on a night like that), however I didn't expect what we did receive. There were four of us and we arrived at about 8pm. We were sat right away and our order was taken promptly. Yay right? Well not so much. It took forever to get our food. About two hours before we ate. Tables were eating and leaving while we were struggling to keep the last drop of water in our glass since our waiter was no where to be found. Oh wait, yes that's right, he was hanging out with the tables full of men. On three separate occasions we said, "sir, sir, sir, si... uhhhhh". He continued to walk on ignoring our requests. I had to go inside and ask him were our food was and his response was that they were busy and he thought we were coming up soon; nervous chuckle. Yeah that's fine by me, but don't serve everyone else that came in after us. Not cool, sucky service.

The food on the other hand was very good, 4 stars for that, or maybe it was that we were so hungry we would have ate wood.

Went last night for Devour Downtown.   We made a reservation online which the rud-ish host apparently did not get, but they sat us anyway at the smallest possible table despite there being only one other couple in the entire place.   Our waitress was a sweetheart and let us move to a table that she said was not even reserved anyway.  My boyfriend hated the dinky "trendy" plastic chairs and complained about it all night.  I kind of like the cheesy modern look though.

The Philly roll was good, so were the many different half price martinis we downed.  I would go back just for those.   My salad was good as well, and so were the lobster wontons we got in addition to the Devour menu.   The Godzilla roll was awesome, but the Playboy roll sucked royally and, being the last thing we had, left a bad taste in my mouth about the experience - literally.  It tasted honestly like the toppings of a Totino's pizza melted onto a sushi roll.  Icky.

The sushi isn't bad, and the other food I have had from their menu has been decent -- not especially memorable, but perfectly fine.  Sunday is half-price sushi night.  It seems a little expensive, but sushi always seems expensive to me.

But the bar itself it very fun.  Nice friendly bartenders, well prepared drinks, and 1/2 price martinis on Thursdays is super fun.  There's something a little cold and sterile about the decor, but the patio is a fun place to sit and watch the people go by.

The sushi was awful, the tuna tartare was alright, the drinks were expensive and the ambiance wasn't worth it... it just feels like it's trying too hard rather than a smooth luxurious lounge it wants to be. The liquor selection wasn't great. The service was lacking. I was highly disappointed. Sorry!! but I do not recommend.

I've been here a few times when I'm in a sushi mood. I would definitely recommend coming on a Sunday (half-price sushi). I've always left this place remembering how much I love sushi and they make a mean Spider Roll ((fc) 5pc Soft shell crab, spicy crab mix, avocado, cucumber and eel Sauce). However, the Philadelphia (8pc Smoked Salmon, cream cheese and cucumber) may be my new favorite, but I seem to have a new favorite every time I go, so take that comment with a grain of salt.

Anyway I have to agree with some of the earlier reviews that it definitely has a lounge feel to it (go to their website and you'll figure it out pretty quickly), which can be a good or a bad thing depending on what you are looking for. It usually doesn't bother me too much, but the music can get pretty loud, and if you are looking for a date, I wouldn't recommend it. If you are looking to get your swerve on a little bit while in the Mass Ave district.

Good martinis and decent sushi.  They lean a little more towards the novelty side of rolls (there's even one your server sets on fire for you) but overall they are tasty.  I just wish it had less of an ultra lounge feel inside and more of the fun mass ave vibe that the patio has outside.  The servers also seem disinterested and are slower than other sushi places in town.

I do think it's fun to go out for cocktails and sushi while getting a little dressed up and this place fits the bill for someone looking for that experience!

This was a good experience- different, but good.

I didn't see a single Japanese person in the place- which is a bit odd for a sushi place. But it was good none-the-less.

This is more like a quality martini bar, that happens to serve sushi. I was tempted to stay in the hotel- but Yelped forty five and spotted the "1/2 price sunday" and I immediately headed for the car.

i sat at the bar and got a martini- delicious. Ordered a round of sushi and had to wait a spell- but what is the appropriate wait for sushi? It seemed longer than normal, but I won't complain about that.

The sushi could have been beefier and larger rolls- but at 1/2 price, they gotta make it back somewhere. I enjoyed myself. All-in-all it was an awesome experience that I'll hit next time I'm in town. Cool part of town too!

Service was friendly and speedy- at the bar, I'd expect nothing less. The music was loud, more like a true bar than a sushi bar.

    3 martini's and 5 rolls- $58.00

So I will admit right off that Forty Five is not my favorite sushi place in the city (Sakura, Ocean World, Sensu all have better roll selection, and the first two at far more reasonable prices), but if we're hanging out downtown and develop a sushi craving, we could definitely do worse. There are good options on rolls, there are some drinks that are pretty good (though almost everything on the cocktail menu is tropical...consider expanding the specialties a bit), I love being able to sit outside, and being an electronic music fan, the ambiance is always to my liking.

So this past Friday was the start of Fringe Festival and the last weekend for Devour Downtown, and we found ourselves on the outdoor patio of 45. The Devour Downtown menu was the best price I've ever had for their food before, getting three big rolls plus a salad for each of us for $30. We decided to branch out from our normal selections there that are always slightly disappointing (soft shell crab roll and spicy tuna roll are not nearly as good as they are at Sakura, for instance). This time we started with the Spicy Yellowtail roll, which was fresh, simple, and much tastier than I remembered. For the main course, we had the Thai Kiss and Godzilla rolls. Both rolls far exceeded our expectations by not only being innovative, but also being fresh and delicious.

Service was very good this time, though I would say it's never been consistent. Of the 10 times or so I've eaten there, service has been mostly friendly, but normally extremely slow, and at times I've been treated like I wasn't even there. One time a few months ago, we were going to see a show and told our server we were going to see a show and needed to be relatively quick about it (we actually had 90 minutes before the show, but just to be sure...). Each time he left the table, he wouldn't return for 20 minutes or more. The sushi was taking forever to arrive, and with about 10 minutes left before the show, we told him to cancel the order because we were going to be late. He was really annoyed and rude, and he said we should have told him we were in a hurry from the start. D'oh! He still works there.

Overall, I would give this place 3-1/2 stars instead of 4, but 3 is too low given the fact that I like to see this place thrive in its location. They do a lot of good for the business community on Mass Ave, they support every festival that takes place around there, and they support social causes. As long as they don't fall into Agio's pitfall of never updating their menu (food and drinks), don't get too big for their britches, and focus on service, I look forward to visiting them for years to come...when I don't feel like driving to Sakura. :)

Sushi was fantastic. Edimami (sp?) was great! We got it with the Tequila and salt for $2 extra.

Service was wonderful, but everything seemed to cost "extra" ... soup, salads, toppings.

Atmosphere was cool ... we were the only ones there Friday night at 6:00.

EXPENSIVE! Even their basic rolls were $7-$8 dollars and their special rolls were $12-$16. So depending how much you want to spend ... order accordingly.

    EXPENSIVE.

I am not getting the HATIN' for this place, people!

My girlfriend and I were on Mass Ave on Sunday evening, seeing what was open. We passed by here, and I asked a guy if it was good. Yes, he said, it's half-price sushi on Sundays.

I was UP for that. Now listen to this:

I lived in Japan for eight years. I've had some of the best sushi and some of the worst. And a lot of just average. In the *home* of sushi, you dig? I think being in Japan and experiencing sushi as *ordinary food* instead of trendy fare gives one the perspective needed to really judge the stuff. The people dissing this restaurant sound like a bunch of sushi snobs who probably wouldn't know the good stuff anyway.

    So...

My gf was trying sushi for the first time. I ordered two eternal classics: maguro (tuna) and hamachi (yellowtail).

I am actually not a huge maguro fan. Great maguro is truly great, but mediocre maguro is not worth eating. But it is truly *the* archetypal sushi, and I ordered it specifically to see what this place was about.

Hamachi, on the other hand, is my personal favorite sushi. I wanted to see how well the joint could please ME.

Guess what? Both were excellent. They may have been previously frozen, I don't know. If they were, however, they sure thawed them out pretty well.

I ain't gonna say they blew my mind. But they would surely pass muster in Japan. The size of the fish slices was generous, too.

The crab nigirizushi was also excellent. The eel roll was well-constructed. Could have had a bit more fish in it, but it was tasty with a nice tare (sauce). The soft shell crab roll was generous with the crab and had a bunch of juicy crab bits on top as bonus.

And at half price, it was the SHIZZLE, people!

I also liked the atmosphere of the place, too. They had club music playing, kinda loud, but not *too loud*, and it was fun. The staff was cool, and the clientele was very diverse. It's a fun joint.

I will definitely be back for half-price sushi night, and I'd like to try some other stuff on the menu, too.

That's FAIR, don't you think, PEOPLE!?

As Metromix wrote about this place, "If you ever wanted to have a cocktail on the Starship Enterprise, Forty-Five Degrees' space-age feel is the closest you'll get." This quote is hilariously accurate. Yes, the ambiance is unique. The cool blue lighting reminds of a dance club, with too-loud music to match. It made dinner conversation difficult. And my party of 8 and I were in a very oddly shaped booth - every time our waitress brought us food our drinks it was hard to reach. But she seemed pretty bewildered anyway - never smiled and always seemed slighty dubious when we ordered things.

We came for Devour Downtown, and I'm glad I didn't pay full price for food. The menu is so strange - sushi AND Italian pasta dishes? The sushi was utterly mediocre and wimpy - go to Naked Tchopsticks if you want awesome sushi in town. Our pasta entrees were also uninspired. They came with sliced toasted bread on the plates that actually made up a good portion of the meal. I've never really seen this before at a restaurant - it struck me as cheap.

The martinis were pretty good, and they have an interesting selection, so go here for the martinis and the atmosphere, but not the food.

Pretend you're a character in a Bret Easton Ellis novel at this Mass Ave. resto bar! FortyFive exudes a kind of stereotyped modern charm, with its moving water lights, white plastic chairs, loud electronic music and geometrically-shaped plates. However, it was actually more friendly and comfortable than I would have thought. They make an excellent dirty martini, and even offer blue cheese-stuffed olives (though the quality of the cheese was not great). I ordered the one veggie roll they offer and seaweed salad, and they were both tasty and not terribly overpriced. The service was very good.

Eating and drinking at a place like FortyFive, I think, is what makes some people felt like they've really "gone out" for the night. It justifies the dressed up, vaguely slutty outfit you've put together or the new button-down shirt, fancy jeans and hair gel. Considering that, though, it really wasn't that bad on a Wednesday before a long holiday weekend.

We hit up 45 degrees a couple months ago after a ComedySportz match.

The rolls were decent, but the half price martinis on Thursday night was a WIN!

Also- Cool Hand Lex spinning tunes was quite fun. That man has skillz.

We were quite underdressed for the rest of the meat market crowd, but the servers were very polite with no attitude about it. Maybe the 12 martinis's we ordered helped?

Either way, I'll be back. It was fun!

Sushi in Indy? a little scary to me, coming from the NY/Boston scene. this place was ok overall. Modern decor is cool and has potential to be a happening spot, but doesn't really match the neighborhood vibe..i felt way overdressed without jeans and a colts t shirt on. we thought it might be hopping on dj sunday night, but we were almost the only ones in there.  good thing it was 1/2 price sushi! the fact that they're open late is nice tho.
Food was ok--true, rolls were fairly small. Interesting options. Fish portions on the sushi/nigiri were pretty skimpy and thin. Almost all the rolls seemed to have cream cheese--big no no for sushi to me. didn't quite fix the sushi crave, but probably an ok place for first time sushi experimenters.

A group of us went to Forty Five Degrees this weekend for dinner.  We went to have sushi but tried a few appetizers as well.  As far as appetizers are concerned, we got the edamame, the spinach & artichoke dip, the calamari and some buffalo chicken egg rolls.  All were good.  I think the consensus was that the calamari was the best.  Instead of usual deep fried calamari, this was pan seared in garlic & herbs and served with a spicy mayo dip.  Very good!

For dinner, we all had sushi.  Definitely not the best sushi I've ever had but they had some creative rolls as well as the usual standard fare.  Most of the fish seemed fresh with the exception of the red snapper and the spicy tuna rolls.

I'd go back to check out the other items on the menu.  They had A LOT of options which actually makes me question whether or not they are trying to do too much with their menu.  I guess we'll see next time we check it out.

Forty Five Degrees is a cross between a sushi bar, a Mediterranean/Cajun restaurant and a swank downtown club. The fact that it's at the end of Mass Ave., under Michael Andretti's place, says a lot.

I always taste spicy tuna to gauge a sushi joint's worthiness. I was impressed: It was fresh. I also had some prawns on crostini with portabella mushrooms in a Cajun sauce that could have been spicier. The shrimp was good, though.

The decor is a bit interesting: Everything is turned to a 45 degree angle, and done up in ice blue and gray colors, but then some of the booths kinda have a diner look to them. It's pretty eclectic.
