This place has heart.
The Orange County swing dance website lead us here on a Monday night. Arriving, we tentatively popped our heads in dismayed by the lack of vintage sound. This melted away as we were sincerely greeted by a patron to come on in. Â Soon after, we were introduced to the owner, Bonnie. We told her our story and she apologetically said the posting on the OC swing dance website was dated.
It turns out Monday night is now Karaoke night. Bonnie immediately went up to the karaoke DJ and requested a swing tune for us. She took us over to the new dance floor. I've never seen such a gorgeous floor! Blond, smooth and shiny. Heaven.
It turns out they had Monday swing nights a few months back. Started off well but fizzled. We hope it'll come back. It would be a shame to waste such a gorgeous floor. She's going to consider re-launching it.
They have a nice L-shape bar and a casual dining area. The dance area feels more like a dance studio (I'm still thinking about the amazing floor.) I'm curious about their other dance nights. We went on a karaoke night, so the lighting was moderately light.
They also offer a menu of California-American food, i.e. seafood, steak, cheese & fruit platter, empanadas and plantains. We tried the plantains. Pretty tasty.
Check out their events calendar.
This place feels like a locals scene. Everyone was friendly and seemed like they knew each other. Like the characters in one of my favorite shows, Northern Exposure.
I hope this place does well.
