Food has never been their strong point. Place has a nice setup and very comfortable feel, but that might be all the good that can be said. The half price wine has taken a jump in price to make up for the special, now they have a $10 or less bottles on the menu for $25 to $30. Drinking  $7 bottle of wine that was marked up to $26 is not a good deal even at half price. The food is nothing to rave about either. Asked for a recommendation and waiter says "it wouldn't be on the menu if it wasn't good", well I know for a fact I had 3 things here that I would never get again and last trip two people sent their food back and just wanted a refund. We tried the beef satay for I think $9, which was a joke when it came to the table. Two extremely thin strips of beef that were literally one bite each. The flat bread was ordered by a friend who was only able to eat it after drowning it with almond sauce that came with the satay. We decided to leave and go get something to eat.
Review Source:I ffinally went after a friend told me about her great experiences (and the great drinks) at 60 West. Â We went on a $5 martini night. There are so many options, I have got to go back to try more. Â Kentucky Peach and Taste the Rainbow were both delicious. I also had a salmon burger and sweet potato fries (one of my weaknesses in life). The food was good too! Â I had no problems with the service as a few others detailed, though it was a pretty slow Thursday when we went. The interior and decor are charming as well. Â It's the the type of place I will definitely encourage friends to visit, especially if they're into trying new drinks.
Review Source:My first time here was for a bachelorette party a year ago. I've been back many a time since and without fail, there always seems to be a bachelorette party going on. A testament to the fact that this is a perfect stop for a ladies night.
The 60 in their name refers to their list of 60 + martinis. I haven't loved every single one I've had, but I do absolutely love Taste the Rainbow and the Sunday Bloody Sunday. No joke, I seriously find myself daydreaming about the Taste the Rainbow on random occasions. It's my sweet tooth, not the alcohol that I crave :) If I did have a drinking problem, $5 martinis on special during various hours of the week and practically all day/night Thursday and Saturday would be quite the enabler.
Service has been speedy and helpful every time I've been, but it does tend to get really crowded and slightly claustrophobic with people standing around the bar on Saturday nights.
Tonight was our first time at 60 West, and I'm only sorry we haven't come in before! Â Great atmosphere, lovely service (thank you Lauren!) and a yummy menu. Â It was just our luck that we came in on a Wednesday, which just happens to be half priced bottles of wine - Yay! Â We'll be sure to be back.
Review Source:I came to Louisville for the 2011 Kentucky Derby. I took my mom - mother's day weekend - and we ended up coming to 60 West twice. I can't tell if it was because the place was so good or because I couldn't really find anything good around the city, otherwise. Either way, it was a good place for a martini and the meals were pretty good, too. Nothing too amazing, to be honest, though I liked it enough.
On the day before the derby, our bill came to $88.88 - not only that, but I ordered a martini called the Flux Capacitor. Really! I took it as a sign from the Almighty and I bet $80 on the #8 horse in the derby the next day. And you know what? I lost.
Apparently they have a new chef since I previously left a review. I can't say much about the drinks since I rarely drink, but their food has become infinitely better. In my last visits since my review, I've had the pizzas, crab queso (awesome!), thai chicken lettuce wraps and they're all awesome!
Review Source:60 West is a favorite of the hubs and I. Friday nights are 1/2 price bottles of wine. Saturday nights are 1/2 price martinis. A great date night location.
We always sit at the bar and have never had any problems with service. The bread is super tasty, as is the goat cheese/roasted garlic appetizer. Â I ****loved**** the risoto too, and hubs really enjoyed the short ribs and the pork belly....
Hula girl martini is my fav (has a tropical taste with a cinnamon rim!). Mr Bazzler is the hubs favorite (somthing with bourbon in it). There is a GIANT martini list. And they divide them up (Ie: Vodka martinis, Gin Martinis, Rum martinis, After Dinner martinis, etc)
Very reasonable for date night. I would NEVER bring my kids here, as it is not a family style restautant.
60 West has been one of my favorite spots in town. The food is great and the drinks are good. Depending on which night of the week you go there is a special like $5 dollar martinis or half priced bottles of wine.
The last few times I was there I had a bad experience with the service. They were unable to accommodate my dinner group and it took 3 hours to get my meal and two martinis. Last night when I was there the sever made a remake about how long my friend and I were sitting at the bar since we had only ordered one drink and then he sort of tossed the check at us when we asked to close out. Â Ill still go back, but I'm hoping the service will improve!
Shaken, stirred or extra dirty - however you like your Martini, 60 West will hit the spot. Â
With an extensive drink menu and wide variety of accompanying appetizers and bistro fare, the perfect meal begins with one of their signature martinis and ends with a stomach full of Flat Bread Pizza (my favorite) or an order of seabass. Â Service is fast, especially the wait from placing an order to receiving food. Â The ambience is decent, but feels more wide open bistro than cozy martini bar, especially if you are seated in one of the areas facing Shelbyville Rd. Â
Still, the martini menu cannot be beat and the selection of food has enough variety to make every visit to 60 West feel like a meal at a new restaurant. Â I'm a fan!
The food I have gotten here has been pretty delicious. And the martinis are great. I am happy with their martini happy hours.
The reason this has only 3 stars is the service I experienced when I was there a couple times was pretty subpar. I'll go back for martini specials, and maybe even the food....but I'll have to find a good time to go when they can pay attention to their patrons.
My wife and I came here for drinks so I will not comment on the food or the wait staff. Service at the bar was typical. I didn't expect anything special based on us sitting at the bar. The TVs were on at the bar. That confused me since it is advertised as a Bistro and Martini bar. I was expecting a nice quiet place where my wife and I could enjoy time together when it reality in mirrored it's neighbor Drakes and Molly Malone's as just another bar in Louisville. There was nothing that really stood out in this place for me. The wood work of the restaurant was nice, but the loudness and overall atmosphere still does not fit the name of the restaurant itself. The martini looking sign also made me think that it would be a little more upscale and classy but it turned out to be your run of the mill Louisville bar but instead of for 20 somethings, it catered more to the 30-40 something crowd which I guess is a plus.
While this is not the greatest review, I wouldn't slam the place and say do not go there. I would just have to say you cannot tell this book by it's cover.
60 West was stop we used to kill time before heading to an event in St. Matthew's this past weekend and I was not overwhelmed, I was not underwhelmed, I was merely whelmed. Â The service was slow and the place was very crowded. Â All the tables were full and there really is no place to stand in the entire bar. Â
The drinks were amazing, I will give it that! Â The extensive choices were fantastic and it seemed as we passed the martinis around the table that each one was better than the one before. Â I would go there again for a tasty martini, but I would have to want a martini really badly to put up with the poor service.
Two visits in and I am still on the fence here. Definitely good food and an AMAZING martini list, but not so keen on it being so slam packed, no standing room, and meh service so far. Don't get me wrong, everyone is nice, but be ready to be patient.
So on to the good part. $5 martinis all day Thursday and Saturday. I feel certain that I will go back for these. And for all those guys that are too masculine for martinis, they aren't all frufru. There are also Mantinis, made with gin or bourbon. Yum.
So far, I must say the Caramel Apple was sweet but a nice sour balance as well, the cherry limeade was STOUT surprisingly, the Cucumber one wasn't my fave, the Lemon Blues was really nice - strong, but not too sweet. And the Purple Nurple was kind of like a less tart pixi stix.
Our table was covered in sticky from the folks before us, and no matter how careful the waitresses were it just got worse, but hey, it's all about the cocktail!
This place is amazing! You go for the martini's you stay for the food. We had the pleasure to celebrate a birthday here and we all ordered a different martini and let it circle the table. Most martini bars would never offer discounts on a busy night like Saturday, but here is $5 all day! It was the perfect first stop to our St. Matthews bar hop. Â
I had the scallops and they were cleaned perfectly and very savory.
Saturday night light dinner and drinks. Never been here before so thought I'd give it a shot. Â I was happy. Â Good selection of tasty Martinis and we just did the Lounge Plates; Â which were all very nice. Â Mini Osso Bucco, Wasabi Oysters and Calamari. Â My only wish..... more comfortable seating and the ambiance was a bit harsh the room is hard surfaces and the tables and chairs not comfy. Â Wish you could cozy it up and cool it up a bit.
Review Source:Five stars for the food, not service. Everything I have ever tried is amazing. The scallops are perfectly cooked and delicate. The baked brie was bubbly and came with a fun assortment of crackers. All of their salads are well balanced and a lot more filling than they look like they even can be. The martinis are mostly great but a little sweet for my tastes. Good thing they have wine! ;)
