This place is a straight up dump with seating for 20 or so people and huge empty spaces. Are we all just supposed to stand around and hold our drinks? How about some high tops to at least rest a beer on?
Good local beer selection (and cheap!), but that doesn't redeem the poorly utilized space, ambiance and unclean bathroom.
Asheville's newest brewery is also one of its more entertaining.
While on the Brews Cruise, we were able to be among the first to sample some of their offerings.
The beer was tasty, but admittedly it was at the end of the tour so I can't tell you much about what I had.
The space itself was very cool. Spacious and open, with foos ball and cornhall to be played, this could definitely be a great bar just by itself.
Makes me wish Cincinnati had a similar venue.
Love Love LOVE this place. Â We went in the middle of the day on a Saturday, and in the evening on a Sunday. Â Both times there were only a few people there, and we had our choice of places to sit. Â On Saturday we sat at the bar (with our 2 year old niece - she drank water), and on Sunday we sat outside. Â The beers were delicious, and the selection of bourbon was amazing. Â We thought the bartenders were great, and this will be a go to when we're visiting Asheville.
Review Source:Get off the beaten path and check out this hipster brewery in West Asheville. Â Sure they don't have their own brews...yet. Â But they offer a big open space, friendly bartenders, live music and games. Â They've done a great job keeping the space simple but fun. Speaking of fun, check out their creative cocktails like a bloody mary that features beef jerky, now we're talking!
Review Source:Gave this place another shot last week and it just doesn't really do it for me. Â Feels like you are drinking in a sectioned off part of a stark warehouse. Â There is a ping-pong table and foosball, so maybe its more akin your parent's garage. Â No jukebox, and indifferent staff make this kind of a last resort while in West Asheville. Â Certainly not the worst bar I have been in, but there are much better options in this cool neighborhood that have more personality.
Review Source:You know how sometimes you sit around with your buddies and talk about opening a bar? Â If you're like me, the conversation goes something like this, "it will be great. Â We'll put good beer on draft, have a bunch of games, put some kayaks, bikes, and skis around and invite all of our friends. Â It won't even have to be that nice--hell, we can put it in a garage for all I care. Eventually, we'll even have our own stuff on draft,"
Turns out someone actually followed through with that plan. Â The Altamont is a laid-back bar located in an old garage in West Asheville with a decent draft selection and a bunch of outdoor gear around. Â There's even a disc golf basket in the middle of the place in case it wasn't W. Asheville enough to start with.
They've got the beginnings of a small brewing system but right now it looks like one fermenter and a few bright tanks, but not much else. Â The bartender said they'd be up and running in March and if that's true, I'll be sure to review again after I've tried the beer.
