AMF Rose Bowl Lanes - North

This bowling alley may be a bit rundown but its fairly cheap and we usually have a fun time.  The weekend night glow bowling makes me feel like I'm back in high school complete with loud dance type music.  I can always find a nice light 6 pound ball to use which I greatly appreciate because I'm sort of a wimp.  There is normally not too big of a crowd which I also like and the pitchers of beer aren't too expensive either.  They also provide frosty mugs with the pitchers instead of just regular glasses.  The bathrooms could use some attention and I'd probably skip the snack bar unless you love microwaved food but overall it's a decent bowling alley. After all you go there to bowl not to eat.  We will definitely be back next time we feel nostalgic for that high school glow bowl experience!

If you want a throwback to glow bowl/ black light bowling whatever you call it, this makes for a pretty fun night. My friends and I decided to go bowling last weekend and so around 9 my boyfriend and I start driving to Vernon Lanes until I get a call from another friend who just showed up to Vernon and realized our group was actually going somewhere else: the AMF Rose Bowl Lanes. Whaaaaaaaaat? I had kind of forgotten other bowling alleys existed in Louisville, but sure enough there are more than the great Vernon.

It's a cookie cutter bowling alley, but it wasn't crowded at all on a Friday night so that was pretty awesome. This place definitely doesn't have a very appealing atmosphere and features ridiculous advertising signage like "eat like you mean it" with pictures of fried everything. But in the end, atmosphere is not my foremost concern at a bowling alley. When it comes down to it, the important part of the experience is all about having fun with the people you're with and throwing heavy balls at pins in the dark.

After 10pm bowling costs $14 bucks instead of the regular $16. Most liquor drinks are $5 and wells are $3.50.

We went bowling here pretty late on a Sunday night, but that still doesn't mean the people working here couldn't be friendly.  Anyway, this is definitely an older AMF (not as slick as the one near us in Massachusetts) and there are no cool graphics on the score screens.  It's kind of sad.  

I like that they have a separate bar in this location, where you can watch a few different sporting events.  

This bowling center is pretty much equal to Ten Pin lanes.  They're not the nicest bowling alleys, but they're decent for the price.
