I've always enjoyed this place for it's craft beer selection. I mean they've got something for everyone in here, even if you don't know it yet! Can't speak to the food much, although I did enjoy the wings here.
All I know is, happy hour at Anthony's is well worth it if you're a beer snob!
The Harrisburg area is certainly lacking in a few things, but great happy hours for cheap craft beer is not one of them. This is one of the couple of places downtown that do half off craft beer during happy hour EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. And yes, that includes Saturdays and Sundays. And not only do they have happy hour on Saturday and Sunday, they serve you free pizza while they serve you cheap, high quality beer. Is there anything better than drinking three Hopslams, eating decent enough pizza, and closing your tab for a total of $12 with tip? If there is, I have yet to find it.
The bartenders are extremely friendly and keep beer in your glass even when things start to get extremely busy, which is very impressive considering there is usually only one bartender on. The gentleman who makes pizza in the back is also a really nice guy.
Not a bad environment to watch a game either, overall just a really great place for happy hour.
I love this place! Hubby and I often go on Sundays for happy hour (from 4-6 PM) with friends. It's a great way to end a weekend. So many beer choices to try (constantly changing) and they're half price during happy hour. We can usually get a seat at the bar and the bartenders we've dealt with are personable--with a bit of an attitude in an entertaining way. Sometimes music is playing on the jukebox and sometimes you can just watch the latest game on the TVs. We've never had trouble carrying on a conversation, though if it was packed it might be a problem. Pizza is good (not fantastic) but they have wing specials on Sunday nights--really good though I wish they had celery to go with them. A few times we've asked for them they've already been sold out, so try ordering them early. If you want to try some interesting beers in a relaxed atmosphere, I recommend this place!
Review Source:This place has an amazing beer selection - 72 beers on tap. There is no list online though, but they have something for everyone. I am a cider lover, and they have three types (woodchuck, original sin, and a local one called something jacks) and a god variety of wheat beers (my other love, both hefeweizens and fruit wheat beers). Apparently they have free pizza until 6 or something, but I avoid that kind of thing. Because I was there during free pizza time, it was crazy crowded.
My main complaint is the loud, too much bass music that makes talking a mess. I just don't want a bar I am going to to sound like a dance club.
Other than that, had a nice time here, great for drinks with a friend!
We were in Harrisburg and were looking for a good place to stop for dinner. Tried Troegs and discovered it's moved to Hershey. Appalachian was closed temporarily, leaving us with no other brewery choices, so we sought out Anthony's and are so glad we did! The 72 beers on tap offer something for everyone and lucky us, we got there during happy hour! Not only were they cheaper than normal, the last one my hubby ordered was on the house. Not too shabby for out-of-towners!
We also ordered a tomato and bacon pizza that was phenomenal! The guy who made it was so nice and speedy. Just as Shannon, the bartender, was!
Special Note: After HH, we watched the crowd dissipate quickly. It went from one extreme to the other, so if you're looking for people watching, go between 4-6, if not, go before or after!
Not bad...if you are starving. Near starvation and it being one of the only places open today is what caused me to give Anthony's another try this evening. The service was ridiculously slow despite the bar not being full.  And when we did get our food, it wasn't what I ordered due to the bartender not knowing the menu.  Doh!  We watched other plates of food make multiple trips around the room before finding their proper places,  and meanwhile another employee sat, drank, and did paperwork (?) a few stools away, without offering assistance when it was obviously needed. The bartender did comp the sandwich I hadn't ordered, but then took a literal eternity to collect the payment and return the change.  I honestly wasn't expecting fine dining service, but the bartender was much more interested in socializing than taking my order, remembering my order, or any other aspect of  service.  Add to that my friend's cheesesteak was the the saddest, school lunch style sandwich ever.  So much bread, so little meat.  This place might not be awful for beer, but pack your own  food, and be prepared to wait a loooong time.
Review Source:Verrrry good beer selection. But not as varied as I was hoping it would be. It is a really chill environment and nice to unwind. Still, I was hoping for micro's from far and wide, but it seems sorta basic. I am a beer nerd though, so don't let that stop you from trying it out. I will definitely being going back again because there aren't many places like this around Harrisburg. I just wisssssh for a more geographically varied selection.
Review Source:I was here on a snowy Saturday evening so down town was far from hopping. Â Anthony's was a nice chill change of pace from a lot of the other craziness in other locales. Â They had a fantastic selection of brews from all over the Northeast, Â They were very accomodating with samples and the staff was extremely friendlyu and prompt. Â I ordered a slice of pizza which was good but I was here to try some different beers and not the food. Â I'll definitely return if I'm downtown again.
