I just moved to Rogers Park a few months ago and have criminally underpatronized taqueria row on Clark, so I decided to head down Farwell and stop at the first I came across. Â Despite not having a noticeable sign and sharing space with a mercado, I decided this was my stop for the evening.
The interior was nice and painted in that kind of Mexicagoan orange-pink so common up here. Â For a Saturday night it was relatively empty, but I decided to get a take-out taco dinner. Â I got one Al Pastor, one Barbacoa and one Chorizo. Â Sadly for me, I ate the Al Pastor first which was amazing. Â I'm a native south Texan and this was one of the most flavorful Al Pastor tacos I've ever had. Â The chorizo was also very good, while the Barbacoa was fresh if a little bland. Â I had both the salsa verde and their unique orange cream salsa and both were very spicy and delicious, although the orange may be too hot for some. Â The refried beans and rice that came with the dinner were both fresh although essentially unadulterated. Â Perfect for salsa and lime, with which this dinner came two wedges. Â
I'm happy to have hit upon a real winner of a taqueria already up here in Rogers Park as my first experience at the restaurant on Morse was a severe disappointment. Â I intend to continue my tacqueria expedicion on Clark, but I'll definitely return, especially now that Yelp has told me the name of the place! Â Highly recommended.

We were not expecting much from this humble looking taqueria, but were very pleasantly surprised.
The interior is bright with two big flat-screen TVs, both tuned to some sort of Mexcian Soap Opera.
We started with an app called 'Queso de Mexicana.' Wow. Really good. The closest thing we've found to queso dip on Clark. It was just a big plate of Chihuahua cheese littered with onions and jalapenos and tomato, served with chips. Delicious!
I had the tacos dorado (fried), which were really just flautas. I tried the chicken and potato. The potato was pretty boring, but the chicken was really flavorful. Makes me want to come back and try their roasted chicken dinner.
Husband got the chile rellenos. He got two. Strangely, the first was undercooked, so the cheese was still hard, as was the pepper. Yuck. But he said the second, smaller chili was lovely. Hmm.
Both of our dinners were served with really tasty rice. Just straight up rice, no peas or carrots or other things some taquerias like to add.
The beans were good, too. Really thick and rich.
The salsas were fine. The red was bleh but the green was creamy and almost white in color.
Their horchada was fine, not memorable.
I would certainly go back.
