We had a nice leisurely meal here on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress was attentive but didn't rush us. The menu is so big we were over-whelmed, but enjoyed the four horseman sampler and the peanut butter pie. In addition to this they made our three well behaved dogs very welcome! We'll definitely come again! :) The wings sounded great, but we were too full to try them!
Review Source:We went here on a late Saturday afternoon. Â This was not our first time here, but it will probably be our last unless Arooga's responds to a complaint via email I sent them about this visit.
I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with no bleu cheese, as I'm 5 months pregnant and bleu cheese is on my list of foods not to eat. Â
Well, the waiter didn't write down our order, so I'm not sure who dropped the ball, but my wrap came out with bleu cheese crammed in it. Â When the waiter came back to check on us, I let him know about the mistake and he offered to make a new one and said it wasn't a big deal because " if you can't eat it, then you can't eat it".
When he brought my new wrap 5-10 minutes later, I was so disappointed to see that the same order of loaded fries were on my plate from the plate I sent back...so they were cold and the cheese was hard. Â It's as if I was being punished with old fries for their mistake! Â Onto the wrap...I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure the kitchen took a new wrap and used the old chicken and heated it up, which caused the chicken to dry out. Â And they removed all of my lettuce! Â I never asked for no lettuce! Â So I ended up paying almost $13 for a dry chicken wrap with buffalo sauce, no veggies, and cold dry fries. Â
I couldn't even send it back again, I was scared about what I'd end up with this time. Â
Overall, I was so disappointed. Â You put your trust in a restaurant to serve you safe food, and someone can't even remember to hold one item that I can't eat right now.
I wouldn't even give them 1 star based on this visit.
Great location for a drink on a sunny afternoon. Â Unfortunately, that's it for the good news. Â Service is very slow, hence only two stars. Â Them seem consistently understaffed. Â It's not unusual for the bar area to be handled by a single, overwhelmed bartender. Â I can't comment on the food because I've never had anything to eat there.
Review Source:This place is really not a great place to eat. The beer selection is decent and the wings are hit or miss. When they are good they are great, but they can be awful at times. The service is generally poor, which seems to be par for the course for all Arooga's. The wing sauces are probably the best thing about the place.
Review Source:I used to come here when they were known as Spice and that was solely to hit the dance floor.
I went here with my lady for Christmas vacation and was thoroughly impressed with the selection of beer and with the food. I ordered a burger or something to that effect and all I can remember is that the food was on point.
They have an extensive list of libations to choose from.
If you are downtown Harrisburg, give this place a try.
Who comes to a sports bar expecting shrimp and wine.... Not me! For a bar, Aroogas has a great selection of beer and the sandwiches are great, creative and flavorful. I had the "Three Rivers Chicken Sandwedge"! It was yummy, but I would have left the wing sauce off, which made the sandwich a bit salty. The angry orchard cider was fresh and crisp. Â Overall, I would return to this location and enjoy late night snacks and drinks!
P.S. I sat at the bar and received speedy service.
Great beer selection. Reasonably good wine list too. Hope they figure out that they shouldn't refrigerate reds.
Encouraged that a sports bar offers a dish of brown rice, broccoli, chicken and shrimp. Â Except that the brown rice was smashed on the plate and seemed to be five days old.
The Pittsburgher was solid...even if the tomato was mushy.
Dog friendly (after a brief confrontation/discussion) and pretty mellow. Could do without the smokers puffing on the patio.
This is your typical neighborhood sports bar. The location is great though, located right in the middle of all the happening places in Harrisburg.
The place has too many flatscreens to count, ample seating (indoor and outdoor), and the servers appear stressed but competent enough.
The menu offers your classic assorted pub fare including wings, sliders, calamari, chicken tenders, nachos, etc...
We decided on SHARING the pulled pork nachos to save room for our priority: drinking.

Utterly disappointed with this bar. Â Went on a Saturday night with two friends to watch the NASCAR night race at Bristol. Â We arrived around 7:30 and were seated quickly. Â I requested that they put the race on two of the televisions around our booth and they filled my request quickly. Â That's when everything started a rapid, downhill slide. Â
First the service. Â It took about 15 minutes for our server to realize that they had seated someone in her section. Â We were seated in a corner booth, so OK, maybe I could buy that. Â But then she was conspicuously missing throughout the night. Â The server aside, the coordination of our meals was awful. Â My friends both ordered wings and I ordered a sandwich. Â The first wings came out, followed by the second order 15 minutes later and then my sandwich 15 minutes after that. Â For fast and easy "bar food" that is unacceptable.
Onto the food. Â I can usually overlook bad service for exceptional food, but the food left much to be desired. Â As an appetizer, we ordered the Aroogas Baseballs. Â They're essentially mini strombolis about the size of a baseball and you get three flavors; stromboli, buffalo chicken and cheeseburger. Â They were good, but not great and the cheeseburger tasted like dough filled with ground beef. Â Meh. Â The wings were well cooked but sauces were not as good as they sounded on the menu. Â I tried the "almost everything" sauce which was good but overpowering. Â I also had the "Rhino" sauce which I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Â Its advertised as "totally different hot sauce with 8 secret spices". Â Apparently the first four of those spices is Old Bay because that was the only one you could taste. Â Its so intense that its hard to finish the wings. Â Awful. Â The sandwich I ordered was the Pittsburgh Pretzel which is based on Primanti Bros everything on the sandwich style. Â After waiting 30 minutes after the first order of wings arrived, I was ready to eat. Â They put the sandwich down and voila, no pretzel roll, but a hamburger bun. Â I was starving and not about to send it back so I let it slide, but come on, the word pretzel is in the name! Â The toppings had all fallen off the top of the mountain of ham on the sandwich so I had to reconstruct it on my plate before eating. Â At this point, I wish they would have let me go to the kitchen to make it myself, at least it would have had the right ingredients and been on time!
We all left feeling bloated and disappointed. Â Can not say I'll ever be making a stop in an Aroogas again.
We were looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat before heading over to a baseball game. Â After searching around it seemed like 2nd street in Harrisburg was the place to just drive and see what catches our eye. Â So after our drive out from Philly we happened on Aroogas. Â With the open air style and outside seating it looked good to us. Â For a Saturday at 4:00 they were pretty busy, yet we were seated right away. Â Our table was right in the middle of all of the TVs so we could watch the Phillis, Mets, and even some bowling. Â We ordered their loaded fries with Arooga sauce. Â They were great, cheese through out and just the right amount of bacon on top. Â The sauce that the serve on the side and charge for, was ok, Â tasted to me like ranch mixed with thousand island and some Tabasco. We decided to try some of the wings, nice thing here is that they have a small order of 5 so it was just a taste. Â They have alot of sauces, and I'm not going to pretend to remember them all. In truth I don't remember what one we got, but it was great. Â Huge wings and lots of sauce so you dunk it if you wanted more. We also got burgers, not that impressed. Â The patties were small and tasteless, also undercooked. Â
Our waitress was great, very attentive and never let our sodas go dry. Â On a side note, they only have Pepsi, so if you are looking for coke you are out of luck. Â Also we did not drink while there, but the bar looked very stocked and no one seemed to be complaining.
Just another nice thing about this place, I left my credit card in the payment book when we left and didn't notice it until we were back in the car. Â We went back about 15 min. later and as soon as I walk in our waitress saw me and said "You left your card" Â She then walked over to the bar and got it for me, and yes she did ask my name to be sure it was really my card.
Over all good place would go back again if I find myself back in Harrisburg.
A long journey always requires a well-deserved pit-stop. So, I decided to stop by here on my drive back from Pittsburgh to Jersey for some food and a break from the monotony of the turnpike. Â Aroogas is your typical sports bar with multiple flat screens, bar food and waiters/waitresses in umpire uniforms. Â However, their beer selection is what really stands out compared to most. Â Any bar that has a one-page draft list is never bad in my book.
As far as the food, I decided to try their "Hot Ranch" wings. Wow, very good and very hot, just how I like them. I also enjoyed a Rogue Chocolate Stout while I watched the Pirates and Brewers game showing above the bar. Overall, Aroogas was a very decent choice to break-up my long day of driving across the Keystone State.
I have been here on several occasions.
The first time I stopped in, I was looking for a late dinner on a weeknight and thought they would probably serve food after 9pm. Good news they do! Bad news- it'll take your server 20 minutes of forgetting to even bring the menu when you asked twice to just leave money for the beer and walk out.
The second time was for a hungover lunch - Our service this time around was actually very good. The only downside was the lukewarm, soggy boneless wings and the fact that the establishment did not have Tabasco for my Bloody Mary (WTF WHY?!)
The third time was during Cinco de Mayo. It wasn't a bad time per say, but I bought a "personal cocktail pitcher" and I left the place more sober than I have went in....was it just one shot of liquor with a pitcher of soda?
In search of a beer and a plate of nachos (yes, Saturday night went late...) we walked past Aroogas and the open air bar on one side of the building. Â There were lots of outdoor tables, but we needed to be out of the bright light of the sun, so we ventured indoors. Â
They have a great draft beet list, and a huge menu, from wings to deep fried hot dogs... We shared a plate of buffalo chicken nachos, because, I mean, why not combine the two? Â Spicy and delicious, cheesy, and hit the spot. Â My meal was the cheese steak wrap with provolone, my friend had the chicken caesar wrap, and both were decent. Â This is bar food, not fine dining, so we got exactly what we expected. Â The food didn't wow us, but it was hot and it did the trick. Â My cheesesteak was hot and had lots of cheese which I love, and a good amount of peppers and onions in the wrap too. Â My friend's onion rings looked tasty too.
We were there right before a Flyers game, and I think the deal on Sundays was $5 pitchers of MIller Light or Bud Light...
The service was great! Food was horrible, ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken was not even 1/4 inches thick, roll was dry and crumbled, fries were cold. We had a party of six my husband who got hotdogs and son got wings said there food was good. Would go back for expensive beer and wings.
Review Source:Food is decent like all Aroogas locations but service here was not great. Waiter was good but the manager ignored us for 30 minutes and 2 requests to put the hockey game on.... Hello this is a sports bar with tons of tv's and the manager couldn't put on a hockey game! It's sid's first game back!
