Backstreet Kitchen

Located in a business center, its a nice quick lunch stop for those of us who work in the golden triangle.  They offer everything from paninis to hot dogs.  Food isn't anything great and the prices are a tad bit on the high side, but the location is EXTREMELY convenient.  I'd rather drive 2-3 blocks to eat here than drive into Prairie Center for lunch.  Ample seating with a quiet enough atmosphere that you can carry a conversation.  TVs running the news are a nice feature for those dining alone.

Had lunch there today in house for the first time.  A couple of us tried the "Mexican Buffet" for 8.95.   Let's start with the highlight:  The ribs.   They were tender, hot, and pretty darn tasty.   That alone was worth the 8.95.

The remainder of the food was just so-so, but some minor changes could get this to 4 or 5 stars EASY..   The torillias were dried out - just putting a cover on the them and steaming them would keep them hot & soft.   The brownies, while tasty were dried out and hard and I have a hard time believing they were freshly made.

Finally, the only other advice I can give is - do not be afraid of seasoning!   The food was pretty bland, we had to add salt to almost everything.....must be a common problem because there were about a dozen pepper & salt shakers at our table.   If your going to serve Mexican food, then it should fill the part and have as much flavor as possible.

As this is close to the office, I'm planning to try it again.
