I used a Groupon here and was greeted by a very friendly hostess/waitress named Dina (maybe spelled that wrong). She was super nice and friendly! The tapas we ordered were out of this world, SOOO GOOD. I had my doubts going into the place because their menu doesnt have a very wide selection and it didnt seem as authentic as other tapas places ive been to, but every dish we ordered was amazing and perfect. Also, the guacamole is amazing and they definitely don't skimp. I'd recommend this place for sure.
Review Source:Last night a friend and I headed to Wrigleyville to play some trivia, upon arrival the bar was packed and there was no where to sit so we headed back out into the cold winter's night in search of some libations and good eats.
We meandered down the street and ended up at Bar Celona, drawn in by the great specials they had to offer ($12 fishbowls of sangria, $5 calamari, $5 quesadillas, $5 martinis and $3.5 coors lights). Â
Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the bar's very friendly manager. As soon as we were seated they gave us chips and salsa (their salsa is out of this world!). We noshed on those and made our first round of choices, an order of calamari and a white sangria fish bowl. The sangria was light and refreshing and the calamari was very unique and tasty. I was especially impressed by the homemade red wine sauce that came with the calamari.
Other friends joined us as the evening progressed. Many of them sampled the martinis which were the only complaint of the evening. The common consensus was that they were pretty watered down but no one was too upset about this because of the great price of the drinks and the fact that we were all given complimentary bombs (can't beat that!).
I also have to note how great the service was. Our waitress was a constant fixture at our table and unbelievably helpful and friendly. She also said she'd only been there a week so we were extremely impressed.
I'd definitely recommend Bar Celona. Great deals, great staff, a great place all around.
I was there for a private party downstairs. This was my first time in this bar. It was a lot of fun. The owner (I believe it was the owner, although it could have been the manager...I don't know, I was drunk) came downstairs to say hi to all of us and to make sure we were happy, which was awesome. That never happens in bars. (Except at kings, which you can read about in my review of them.) ANYWAY, we had wristbands for all you can drink for $25.00. Our bartender, Melissa, was a gem. She was so nice, fun, talkative, and patient. She's one of those rare hot girls who are also cool. You don't find those very often, ya know? So yeah, this place was awesome. Upstairs was really crowded, and it looked like everyone was having a good time. I know we definitely had fun downstairs! Woo! Oh, 1 thing.... I hate the cubs and I hate wrigleyville. The Bar Celona is the only reason I'd ever go back there. :)
