Terrible service. I am under the impression that BarFly might be going out of business because they couldn't serve dinner. We had reservations for 7:30pm, ordered drinks at 7:40 & chips and guacamole. Server didn't come back until 8:00p and still no chips. Ordered dinner at 8:00p (filet, bass, and etc). Chips came out at 8:20...almost 40 minutes after we ordered. The manager explained that they were under staffed and behind. We ended up canceling our dinner order when we were told it wouldn't make the table until after 9pm. We went somewhere else. Common courtesy would be to close your doors if you don't have staff to serve or at least communicate that it may be a 3 hour dining experience. Wasted night at a horrible place. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Review Source:Went here since it was one of the few restaurants that actually services lunch food on a Sunday, instead of forcing me to eat brunch.
The calamari was alright.
The hummus and falafel wrap was decent.
The acoustic guitar player sounded like Stevie Nicks, and was probably the only good thing about this place.
The couches inside are probably cool if you want to watch a sports game on the tv.
Everything on the menu sounds delicious, but in reality, a place that doesn't focus on one food, usually does okay on everything rather than great in one particular category.
I'm not sure where else to go for lunch on a Sunday in La Jolla, but I definitely know on a Saturday I'd check out someplace else.
