This was an inspiring meal and I'd go back for sure. The highs were incredible high but the lows were pretty low. The beef tartar, the bone marrow and the pork cheek were amazing. I'm talking goosebumps amazing. The bread is some of the best I've had. The cheesecake was light and creamy, almost a custard texture. On the down side, the tongue and sweetbreads were ok, the snapper and octopus were a miss. The cherry pie was wonderful and made with fresh cherries, but it didn't change my life. The service was really wonderful. If I could do it over again, I'd order a ton of different appetizers and maybe split an entree. We went to Prepkitchen in Del Mar the next night and while the highs weren't as high, it was a much more consistent experience. These folks know what they're doing.
Review Source:If you want small portions, high prices, no ambiance, and noisy surroundings ---this is the place for you. Portions are too small for the price. Scallops are 9.33 each and you get nothing else on the dish. The lasagna was mostly noodles with no sauce.the ahi appetizer was OK. The bread was good. The waiter should have told us there was a $4.50 charge for splitting a dish. we found out after.
The manager did come over after we complained and did the right thing, by comping one meal.so, that was a very nice gesture.
