This place used to be alot better than it is now. Went here Fri with a couple of friends, beer on draft was NOT cold although glasses were, also there was no live entertainment(there used to be) and we ordered the spinach dip which came in a very small cup for $8.95. Server was nice but not very outgoing. There was not alot of people in there as it used to be packed with standing room only, maybe they have new mgmt but this place has gone down hill. We left and went somewhere else.
Review Source:An attractive, cozy English style pub smack dab in the middle of a tired strip center on Johnson Ferry Rd. It has a nice vibe to it, a break from the traffic just a few feet away. Good selection of beer on tap and in bottles.
They have a surprisingly good black bean burger. I will admit that ordering a black bean burger with Pico de Gallo and Chipotle ranch in a English pub sounds as weird to me as it might to you, but it worked! The only let down were the salt and vinegar potato chips. They were "meh" at best, with varying degrees of sogginess and oiliness. I am sure it is a matter of what batch you get, and i got the short end of the stick this time.
Prices here are a little too high to make me a regular, lunch for two is about $30 conservatively, and there are too many other place to spend those shillings.
Sadly, I frequent B&B quite regularly, haha. This is the spot for the softball teams that play at Blackburn and Keswick Parks, and we often go before AND after a game. We've been doing that for the past 2 years or so that I've been playing there.
Food is decent, somewhat pricey, but you can get specials that are usually about right. I love going on Tuesdays for Tapas Tuesdays, a different selection each week of yummy munchies. Their burgers are delicious, and as for appetizers, the triple dip is a must! The olive tampenade (spelling?) isn't for everyone. We usually order it sans the olive junk and substitute more of the goat cheese.
For dinner I actually order off-menu and get a special wrap that is absolutely delicious, but you have to know to ask for it (philly steak or chicken, cheese, queso and lettuce). I've had almost everything on the menu, and the only thing I've ever had an issue with is the clam chowder. It is meh in my opinion, and I love clam chowder.
Drinks can be pricey, but they usually have great specials. Avoid the house white wine though, bleh! Ask for a Texas Margarita and you'll be in love. The bartender knows what he is doing, and is extremely friendly. We were there last night, and he made special drinks for some of the people in our party, and came over and talked with us.
Waitstaff has had some issues in the past, but they have gotten tons better. They know us and talk with us, and will even come out and join us on their nights off. Â They are extremely accommodating, even getting us bags of ice for injuries, etc. A couple of times we have celebrated birthdays and special events there, and they were nice and willing to hide everything and bring out the cake all lit up for us. Â
Maybe it is because we are there so often, but I really like this place. Not a place I normally would frequent by myself, but I don't mind here. Decor is nice, although the location is a little small and difficult to traverse through, but most patrons are nice enough to move. Booths, bar, patio and high tops are available. The other patrons are polite most of the time, mostly male. During the early evening, usually business types for happy hour, and later in the evening more relaxed persons.
Trivia on Tuesdays is fun, though it doesn't start til late, since it is considered "adult trivia" although there have only been a couple of adult-themed questions. Easy way to make some house cash and have fun with friends. We usually joke around with other teams and make it competitive but fun.
So in general, typical delicious pub food, good selection of beers, full bar, great bartender, good waitstaff and great crowd of people.
I wanted Bat & Ball to knock it out of the park. This pub is only a few minutes away from our house and we decided to pop in for a bite before a movie (another Date Night with me & Kevin P.) On Friday night at 8 p.m. the house was packed. We got our beers at the bar while we waited for a table.
For an English-style pub set in the South, I've got to give props to the beer list. All the right players were stocked on draft. I had a Sweetwater 420 and Kevin P. had a Guinness. We clinked glasses, sipped our cold pints, then a server cleared off one of the high tops for us. Our wait time was maybe 5 minutes.
Editor's Note: girls, do not wear a skirt. There's no easy way to sit on one of those stools. It's not really a skirt kind of establishment anyways but hell, it was Date Night. To keep it simple and make it to our movie in time we both got burgers. Mine was quite tasty. The meat was perfectly cooked at medium well with crispy bacon and melted cheese. Bat & Ball allows you a choice for sides so a fresh salad made me feel better about the calorie count for the beer and burger.
Our meal was great and we made it out in time to get Junior Mints at Walgeen's next door before our movie. For the price point it wasn't a great ROI. At the end of the meal 2 beers and 2 burgers set us back about $35 before tip. Maybe consider a special, Bar & Ball?
The pubs in England will offer a deal: 5 quid will get you a burger AND a brew. Granted there's the exchange rate to consider but I can't say we'll be going back to Bat & Ball anytime soon since we're on a budget. I'm glad we had a gift card to Regal Cinemas or else it would have been a pricey date night.
After being loyal customers for years, I've vowed never to return to Bat and Ball. Â In one night the owner yelled at two separate people in my group with no provocation. He slammed the bathroom door in one person's face twice within 10 minutes, accused another person of not having enough money to be a patron of his restaurant, and demanded a tip for the DJ-on-hire (though no cover charge was advertised or requested at the door). Â Even though I've enjoyed this place in the past, I just can't support a business run by an inappropriate and rude person. Â We won't be returning.
Review Source:Sadly I am finding myself here once every two weeks if not more. If I gain weight because of their burgers, I'm gonna have to make myself walk the trail in Blackburn Park immediately upon leaving the restaurant.
They'll make the burgers exactly as you want them and they are happy to do it. The fried onions are piled a mile high!
The servers are all very friendly. I have started to feel like a character on Cheers visiting the neighborhood bar. Most of the time, I'm only going for the food. So there!
No pretense here, folks. Just an old fashioned watering hole with good food as well.
Great place for a happy hour meet up. I was there last Thursday, which happened to be Taco Thursday... WTF is what I thought, but ok not bad. I tried all four tacos and I gotta say the pork one was my favorite. The food is a little expensive in this place, but the atmosphere is good. Kinda like a smaller more hole in the wall Ship and Anchor. It being the same company and all.
Review Source:#Yelp #Yelp365 30 - I wish I could give this place a higher rating, but no such luck. The menu attempts to be a UK Pub menu but misses that. I just had returned from London, tough comparison by any means.
Our waitress seemed a bit disturbed, the pretzels and cheese was delivered, and then she asked how is it, before a bite but never again. The BBQ chicken pizza was basic, like crackers with cheese, BBQ sauce and chicken. My friend had the Reuben which was very large, to go was required.
The booths are not nailed the floor, if you lean forward, and are on the end by the server station, be ready for it to tip forward each time. I would have to pass in the future
I had high expectations for this gastro pub, but left deflated. We stopped in for dinner I ordered fish and chips, and my friend had a sandwich. The fish lacked flavor it was really bland, thank goodness for tartar sauce. The batter looked only to be flour and nothing more. The fries were frozen from a bag, it would have been nice if the hand cut. The service was good and the staff checked in frequently. The food came pretty quick.
Review Source:We stopped by this bar for drinks after having dinner at Derby's Sports bar.  It was on our way home and my boyfriend and I wanted to check this place out. Our waitress was pleasant and our overall experience was great. Had we not had dinner beforehand, we totally would've checked out their bar menu.  I really like the dark wood and dim lighting.  It's a cozy bar and I'm sure we'll return for more drinks and possibly food in the future.  I can definitely see this place as a neighborhood hangout.  We did go on a Sunday evening and I'm sure the crowd is quite different on a Thursday or Saturday night.  Just saw Andy M.'s review  about their nachos so I must make a point to return to check those out as well!
Review Source:This place is typically where me and co-workers will go for a drink after work. Its a nice little pub with a real pub atmosphere. They have outdoor seating as well as bar booths and high tables so you have a lot of options.
FOOD: The food here you simply cant go wrong with. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I order. I always leave happy. And i LOVE the nachos..holy absinthe that stuff is amazing. AND AWESOME CLAM CHOWDER!!! The food is SLIGHTLY expensive for a pub, but in my opinion fully worth it.
BEER: They have a great beer selection on draft. Not ALOT of options but all good options which is all I need. Also when you order a beer they fill it to the brim almost every time. No head = more BEER! :)
Whenever I am asked to go to Bat and Ball I never decline and it's my go to place for a drink and munchies after work.

Yeah, I dig it. Â I've been here lots of times and it's always a good place to hang. Â The service is good. Â The food is pretty good actually; and the atmosphere is laid back and quaint. Â All the dark wood is nice too.
If you are looking for a good place to go have a drink after work with friends or co-workers or if you are looking to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch or dinner, I can recommend this place as an option.
I don't go there to drink. Â I take my teenage boys there to eat about once every other week or so. Â The cold salmon app is very good. Â The fried artichoke hearts app is also nice. Â They smoke the salmon at the Dunwoody store and I occasionally have them smoke a side of salmon for me for parties. Â
The salad with lamb (cooked rare) with Greek dressing is also very good. Â My sons LOVE the meatloaf and the rueben sandwich. Â The salmon BLT is good and the burgers have been good. Â The fries are standard frozen, but the onion rings are ab/fab. Â The asian steak tips are good also. Â Â
The staff has always been friendly and accomidating. Â They will substitute ANYTHING on the menu and do it with a smile.
As everyone else has pointed out, this is a really cozy bar with great service. Â Both visits were during lunch during the week. Â They are fast, but not so fast that they bring your check before you've taken your first bite. Â I've had both the Asian Steak Tips and the Mexicana Grilled Chicken Tortizza and loved both. Â Can't comment on the drinks b/c going back to work drunk is not a good look. Â I'll definitely be back.
Review Source:Our local pub is dark, cozy and warm - perfect place to hang out and drink with friends. The food is good  hearty pub food. My only complaint is that they stick with the English Pub theme a bit too strictly when it comes to their beer selection. Besides Sweetwater 420 and their IPA, most everything else is typical English beers. I wish they would mix it up a bit - if only they knew how many beer fans there are right near by. Have some beer dinners or have some cool brewers/distributors come in every now and then, and they would be perfect.
Review Source:We need more places like this. Â Small. Â One bar, one row of high tops, one row of booth. Â Therefore, comfortable and friendly. Â You are in the same room with everyone, as opposed to being a huge hall. Â EXCELLENT and friendly service. Â Good menu for a basically a tavern ... they do have the normal wings, nachos, etc., but also run very deep in terms of selection....stews, sandwiches, soups, etc. Â Its true advantage over comparable places is its coziness. Â You go there and you are in a den, a living room, whatever.
Review Source:I really like this place. Â Good beers. Â Great service. It's in the United Nations of strip malls, that would include; a Japanese, a Chinese, an Indian and Thai restaurants, also a Wing place restaurant and this, an English pub. Â And strangest of all, one of the BEST reuben sandwiches I have ever had. Â Usually the food at an Irish or English themed place is awful, just like in the UK, but yum! Â Razor thin corned beef, piping hot and HUGE.
Review Source:A very pleasant hole in the wall, getting 3.5 Stars in my book but I rounded UP cause they're deserving.
My first visit for lunch here today was very nice. Â The staff was very attentive (though very few customer were in the place) and very personable. Â A buddy and I, who hadn't seen each other in quite a while, went there to catch-up. Â We sat in a booth just talking for a good while and the young lady came by several times for our order. Â I took that, being lunchtime, as being very attentive (expecting people would be wanting a quick lunch) and in No Way pestering.
I had the Cuban sandwich and my buddy the Gyro. Â Exactly why I would order a Cuban from a "Pub", I wondered myself after doing so but I was not disappointed. Â It was certainly was no 'Little Havana' sandwich but it was quite tasty in it's own right. Â The Cuban and a couple Bass drafts made for a perfect Friday lunch, then back to the office!
The prices seemed typical, maybe a bit high but certainly not outrageous. Â I would certainly go back for lunch, as it seemed like a nice relaxing hangout for a Friday afternoon.
THis place has really gone downhill. Â The prices are way up there with a "trendy, hot" place, which this place once may have been, but now it is just tired and more and more boring. Â The food is typical pub grub, over priced, but with good sized portions.
the wait and bar staff are very nice, friendly and efficient but Steve the manager can be obnoxious -- he would fit right in to the hottest bar in NYC -- the snooty ones with the ropes and the lines outside -- but alas this is just an over-priced neighborhood joint.
If you've been to other Dunwoody Group establishments (Dunwoody Tavern, Royal Oak, etc.) the menu here is the same.  The food here  is solid english-style pub-grub and worth a stop in if you are in the mood for this type of faire.  The service staff is excellent.  I could walk to this place in 5 minutes from my place, however I choose not to because:
1.  Prices on Alcohol, especially liquor, are absurd.  Particularly on liquor, this place charges well-above other DRG establishments, as well as other bars in nearby Perimeter Mall area.  I paid more for beers & bourbon whisky  here than I did at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead on New Years eve!  Not worth it!  A strip-mall bar charging strip-club drink prices?  C'mon!!
2. Â Personally, I feel this place really is not where I feel comfortable hanging out. Â As stated in other reviews, I agree its a local spot and not really a destination. Â I personally don't "get" the crowd that frequents this place. Â I guess you'd have to stop in to see if this type of crowd is where you feel comfortable. Â
Bottom-line is I'd stop in for a quick bite if I was not drinking.  I'd get the fish/chips, stews, shepards pie, etc. if I wanted a decent meal and not drinking/not in the mood for a drink.  I drink  1/2 & 1/2 unsweet tea  & lemonade -- "Arnold Palmers" if I go out & eat when not drinking.  I'd probably not linger too long aftwards, tho.
First of all, I don't think there are any other bars within a mile radius of Bat & Ball, so props for that. Â The decor is a lot nicer than you would expect for where it is (like a miniaturized strip mall), they have a decent beer selection and a lot of pub grub. Â I didn't get a chance to try the food, but I had some Sam Smith beers that were tasty and reasonably priced. Â It's easy to see the huge HD screens and they have an outdoor area for those nice days.
Review Source:Darn! I was hoping to be the first to review this place! I just discovered this hidden spot. Â It's a very dark and cozy pub with pretty darn good food. I actually had my first home-cooked meal in a long time. Meat loaf and mashed potatoes in a pub? Â Very friendly and prompt service. I went on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Masters, and there were plenty of HD TV's with it on. The only reason why it's 4 and not 5 stars is because it seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. Nothing's around except a pizza place across the street!
Review Source:My husband and I came here last Friday night around 8 pm for the first time and we were hard pressed to find a seat. We vultured some folks at the bar and waited patiently (about 10 minutes) for them to move. It worked! The crowd at this place speaks to the huge demand  in the Chamblee/Brookhaven area.
Very cozy place w/ lots of nice lighting and comfy decor. It is not a big place so it obviously gets crowded fast. For you Guinness snobs out there, don't bother. We watched in horror as the bartender poured in one straight shot. She was attentive however not a clue how to pull a pint. We quickly switched to smithwicks. I ordered a Tuscan sandwich w/ fries. Quite good and my husband enjoed a chicken pizza/quesidilla.
