Good food seems to have got lost in the woods.

Restaurant week can bring out the weaknesses of any restaurant.  Prix fixe is not and should not be every restaurant's forte. That said, a restaurant that attempts restaurant week is obligated to try to remain a good restaurant during this event.    Beatrice & Woodsley should either stop trying or try much ... much harder.

Our restaurant week meal was simply bad.  Underwhelmed by the choices on the 5280 menu, we ordered 'Oh My Cod'.  The description was great.  The meal was not.   The fish was mealy, oily, and disturbingly bland.  The waiter seemed excited by the ingredients; yet all those ingredients were apparently blanched away and replaced by butter prior to plating.    The result was greasy, messy, and unmemorable,  The server seemed aware that the meal was bad and avoided not only discussing the food but also  making eye contact during his infrequent visits to our table,

To be fair, we went back two days later for brunch.  The Sunday morning pace of the place seemed calm and the space remained beautiful.  I was hopeful that our Friday night dinner was a fluke.  Sadly, it wasn't.  Our ordering the 'Salmon's Lot' was preceded by earnest endorsement by the server.   The description, again, was great.  The meal, again, was abysmal.  The smoked salmon had the flavor and consistency of a fish flavored gummy bear.  It was tough and cloying - nothing that is usually associated with salmon.  The kale was inedibly salty.  The bread was soggy with a dreary smear of something wet and white.  There was, however, a perfect runny poached egg.  A couple noxious bites made me long for some decent lox.  I'd suggest stopping by a decent deli on the way to brunch and simply ordering that terrific poached egg.

The server was very nice and removed the meal from our bill.  She said that the chef had tasted our returned food and agreed that it was not good. It is disconcerting that the chef didn't discover this by tasting the food prior to serving it.

B & W seems to be struggle being anything but a very nice room - a good illusion of woods and a poor illusion of a good restaurant.

The place is beautiful inside. Very small, personal setting. Staff is friendly and well informed on wine, menu, etc. A great place to bring a client, parent or visiting friends. Food is a little bit pricey and the cocktails are very expensive. Not a good restaurant in terms of menu size or for alternative diets (i.e. gluten free/vegetarian).

Overall, a very nice place to visit and one of the more unique restaurants in Denver.

Beautiful restaraunt in Downtown Denver.  Food was delicious!

Took my girlfriend here  a couple days ago for her birthday.  We dressed nice, but not overly so.  Quick take: upscale food and decor, but needs to be a little better for the price.

Good: Wine, beer, and entrees.  I had the Trippel seasonal; I forget the name.  I like Trippel style beer, so that's good.  We also ordered a half bottle of the Chilean Moscato; it was delicious and not too expensive.

For dinner my GF got the buffalo steak.  It was expensive ($34), but she really liked it.  I'm a veggie, so I passed.  But from what I could tell, her meal looked lovely and came with many different sides.  Presentation was excellent.  I had the Creme Fraiche Rissotto ($20) - it was really tasty!  It felt weird ordering something with Creme Fraiche, since south Park made so much fun of it, but now I'm over it  ^__^

Meh: My GF wanted a creme brule, so we got one.  It came with a little fruit and some brown stuff on the side.  I had gone to the bathroom, and when I came back, she already sampled everything and said she didn't like any of it.  I was too full to try any, but I could see the top didn't look quite normal.  Creme brule is supposed to be lightly toasted on the whole top layer, this one looked like sprinkled brown sugar.  She also mentioned the fruit wasn't fresh.

Bad: service!  My GF ordered steak... but didn't get a steak knife.  I had to get up and walk to the end of the bar to ask the waiter for one; strike one, not a huge deal.  She also wanted some salt, and I flagged down another server to get that as well, strike two - where's my waiter?  Lastly, when we voiced our displeasure about the dessert, the waiter didn't take it off the bill; strike three - you're out.  Overall, our waiter didn't check on us that much, even though the place was half empty on a Monday.  I noticed him chatting away at the end of the bar more often than not.  I make a point of not making a fuss over things and am pretty understanding when it comes to service, but either this guy was new or just took the night off, oh well.

Overall, nice decor and reputation, nice entrees, disappointing service.  For what I paid, they need to make sure and give their best effort every time.  If I go back, it won't be for a special occasion and I won't make a reservation, I'll probably try to grab a seat at the bar.

All I can say is: Amazingly Brilliant!

The decor is beautiful and elegant. Brunch was delicious!

But Dinner was really the best food I've had to-date in Denver. The best is to go with a small group so you can share the small plates. The Pork Belly was delicious, cauliflower soup (which I didn't think I would like) surprised me, the meatless meatballs "steel cut oats" were also surprising and delicious, the CRAWFISH BEIGNETS were fantastic. Last but not least, the scallop dish was unforgettable and I'm still having dreams about the vegetable risotto!

You will absolutely not be disappointed. Portions were a generous size and service was friendly.

This is an incredibly well-designed place. Think Texas Chainsaw massacre before the massacre...and if he had an art degree. Incredible wood decorating, great place for a date, and friendly service.

Just observe someone wash their hands before you venture into the bathroom. It's a unique faucet and is pretty much a mini-IQ test!

Beautiful atmosphere indeed. Delicious Old Fashion cocktails. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I had the Colorado Braised Lamb shank, which was more than a generous portion of tender meat.  Oh what a wonderful dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you!

What a great brunch spot! I feel like it must be uber romantic for dinner, but the seating for two is just so adorable, the romantic vibe showed through even at 10AM. Its a beautiful space, and if you want to make an impression this is the place.

When it comes to the actual food, it was decent, not the best ever, but for the atmosphere and the quality of food the prices were great. I would encourage you to ask questions about the dishes if you have any questions. I ordered one thing and got something that I didn't necessarily expect (not in a bad way, just the waiter had to re-tell me what I ordered, I couldn't identify it just from looking).

You have to ask about coffee and they only have whole milk for espresso beverages.

Overall really enjoyed the whole experience, but don't know that with out the ambiance, the food would have gotten 4 stars.

My hubbie and I went here for my birthday dinner. Initially I thought that the menu was limiting and certainly had more vegetarian options, but was glad to see fish and meat selections. I had the scallops which reminded me of diver scallops you get in Florida, succulent and sweet with the winter squash purée. I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty candied kale.  My hubbie said the bison steak was tender and cooked to his request. My potato cakes were a bit overdone. The soup was a spicy tomato fennel which was delicious.

We enjoyed the option of half bottle wines, especially for a couple or single person is just the right amount. I especially enjoyed the free port, because of birthday celebration, with the creme brûlée. This is truly a romantic location. It was quiet and wonderful to talk to your partner with some soft music in the background. Service was excellent, and they seated us earlier than our reservation, but we also were there on a Sunday night. Who could not enjoy the cozy seats surrounded by aspen trees!? Okay the bathrooms were qwerky, especially the wash basins. Initially I thought should I even bother trying to figure it out, but once I pulled the rod, and the water didn't stop I realized you had to pull the rod back up. Thankfully no one was looking on.  It's a small, intimate place so I would recommend a reservation. We will be back!

Nothing to say here that hasn't already been said by tons of Yelpers. Great brunch spot, incredible decor, and friendly and knowledegable wait staff. I love their sinks outside of the bathroom area and want one in my house!

I think the best characterization of B + W was after we took my family here for a brunch. My family was thoroughly impressed with their meals and my Dad, a normally frugal individual, responded, "The price was less than I thought it was going to be for food of this quality." So there's that.

As a kid, you know how it was really cool to sneak into your fort or tree house and eat your meals there?  This is how you will feel (but the upscale version) when you dine at Beatrice and Woodsley.  It's nice to dine with a little bit of whimsy around you.

A group of 6 friends and I had heard great things about Beatrice and Woodsley and wanted to give it a try.  Our waiter was friendly and efficient and we were seated quickly with our reservation (which is a must if you're going on a weekend).  Each of us ordered a glass of wine to start.  They have a nicely balanced wine selection and I was pleased with the syrah I got.  Several friends started out with appetizers - escargot and the artisan cheese board - both tasty.

I was wishing for a chicken option on the menu, since I'm not one who usually ventures into the other offerings they had such as bison and duck.  Other entrees looked appealing, but I wasn't willing to pay over $30 for the small/medium portion sizes I saw coming out of the kitchen.  Ultimately, I ordered the creme fraiche risotto  The rice was creamy and had a sweetness too it that paired well with the goat cheese and vegetables in the dish.  My only complaint was that it seemed my dish must have been waiting on the rest of the meat based dishes my friends ordered, because my risotto was cold by my third or fourth bite.

During the meal, many of us ventured back to the interesting bathrooms.  While I appreciated the commitment to the tree house theme, the entrances to the bathrooms were only barely visible due to the strange door handles and the sinks were so confusing I and several other guests who were nearby couldn't figure out how to turn the stream of water a la Swiss Family Robinson off.  I'm sure this is a common occurrence (I saw it happen to several other patrons over the course of the night) and I was frustrated that the staff didn't pay more attention to helping this situation or have signs to help guests out.

We were all too full for dessert.  Usually, this isn't a deterrent from me actually ordering dessert, but nothing on their short dessert menu actually appealed, so we ventured down the street to Sweet Action Ice Cream.

I enjoyed my meal at Beatrice and Woodsley, but I wouldn't necessarily want to return.  While the whimsical atmosphere is fun, the portion size of most of the entrees isn't worth the money you pay for them and the service isn't high enough caliber for a higher end restaurant.

The look of this place is really unique. I love the decor and the ambiance. I would honestly go again just to play with the bathroom sinks. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was good but the price may be a bit much for what you get. If you go I would highly recommend the crawfish beignets , they were easily the best thing I had and I would go back to have them again.

I remember this place being a lot better. That said, the service is always good and you absolutely can't forget the unique and beautiful decor. The food just wasn't up to par, especially about getting so excited to spend one of my two dinners in town here (I used to live in Denver, was in town for the weekend). Although, I will say the escargot was superb, and the crashfish beignets, as always. I do like the little touches they have though, like the soap and sinks in the bathrooms and tags they leave for you with your wine order.

what can I say, we love this place.  The service is always great (dinner and happy hour for sure, never tried brunch) and the food is always fun and completely yummy.  We took my hubby's dad for his birthday dinner this past weekend and as always we were impressed.  The scallops melted in your mouth, the bison steak was tender, and the lamb shank huge and falling off the bone.  This place is intimate, the perfect place for a date or that special occasion. I can't wait to go back.

This place is all right, y'all.

I went with my girlfriend and her pal. We were at the bar, and we ordered the cheese platter and crawfish beignets. As a former girl of New Orleans, gotta say those bummed me out a bit. Greasy, kinda eh. But clearly I'm the only one who feels that way, because other reviewers love them. Maybe they've never been? Oh well.

The drinks are stiff! Mmm. And the bathroom is probably the reason I gave this place a review at all. It's a total blasty blast. The sinks outside are fun, too. It's just good times all around. I was not surprised at all to learn that the owners are also associated with Double Daughters, because the bars give the same ambiance.

The one thing I didn't like was being treated a little lesser-than by the way we were dressed. My girlfriend and her pal had just gone to a Rockies game, so they were in hoodies and jeans. I was in an older long-sleeve T and jeans, as I had just come from a full day of class. We received icky looks from waitstaff, and that's just unacceptable.

I'd come here again. And I'd dress nicely so I could receive decent service.

I am a big fan of places that look, feel and taste out of the ordinary. This place hits a home run on every mark.

Honestly, this restaurant is hard to find. The sign is small and hidden so you can walk by this place and not realize it. Once you get inside though....totally different story. You will have no doubt in your mind you are in the right place. Everything is decorated like you are in a forest. But don't worry, you won't be sitting on tree stumps for 2 hours during your meal. This is a romantic, nice venue with great service and comfort.

They have a good wine selection and the food is superb. Get the craw fish begneit for sure! This restaurant delivers exactly what you would expect from a high end establishment and it delivers in style. Yes, the bill reflects the great experience but it is money well spent.

Grab your special someone and make your date one that stands out from the ordinary.

I had been wanting to try B & W for some time now, so when my fella planned a nice little Tuesday night date, I was stoked when he chose this.  Upon entering, I felt as if we had entered a different world...a magical, whimsical forest, if you will.  We LOVED the ambiance.  Fancy, yet not pretentious.  Although we probably didn't need to do so on a Tuesday night, we made reservations.  Judging by the size of the dining area (and the popularity of the restaurant), a reservation would definitely be needed for a weekend dinner.

Our server was incredibly friendly and very informative, answering all of our newbie questions.  I started with the Violet Beauregard cocktail...muddled blueberries, vodka, simple syrup and St. Germaine.  It wasn't too sweet and was the perfect summer-end drink.  My date ordered the Ginger on the Side...Hennessey, Canton Ginger, lemon juice, simple syrup and ginger tincture.  Delicious...had he turned his head, I would have drank it all.  Since I am disgustingly indecisive when it comes to good food, I decided to order 2 individual plates...the Summer Tomato Salad and the Scallop on Holiday.  The salad consisted of Heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, live watercress, housemade bread and a light vinaigrette.  There was also some type of coarse salt sprinkled on the plate...and the salt, my friends, is what made me LOVE this salad (besides the other ingredients being fresh and downright tasty).  It took me back to my childhood in Kansas, picking tomatoes and watermelons from my Grandma's garden and my Grandpa serving me a fresh slice of watermellon sprinkled with salt.  Yes, salt...try it if you haven't.  My scallop was perfectly cooked, but a tiny bit bland...it's surroundings easily made up for the flavor, though.  The sweet black rice was firm and flavorful while the coconut ginger broth was smooth and creamy.  The house kim chee packed some serious spice, but momma like.

I encountered a bit of buyers remorse once my dates plate was set in front of him...the Catfish plate smelled like pure heaven, I tell ya.  It was slathered in a spicy BBQ sauce and was served with baked beans, watermelon and hush puppies.  Thankfully, he was gracious enough to let me take a bite...and it tasted as delicious as it smelled.

I will, without a doubt, be back to try another delicious item from their ever-changing menu.  And next time, I will have to step into the perplexing bathroom that other diners have mentioned...I'm intrigued!

Disappointing host/staff... 8:30 reservation.  Arrived a few minutes late, no table.  Staff suggested that one of us wait at the bar (at the one seat open) one wait on bench... Overall not impressed w/ overall experience.  Meal was okay, not great, "slow roasted" pork shoulder was dry.  There are plenty of other dining options in Denver... Might be wise to look elsewhere.

I had dinner there last night and I'd like to point out that I was part of a large group (10 of us) which impacted my experience

The Good:  We were seated down in the wine cellar, which was really cool!  The waitstaff was very helpful and knowledgeable about both the food and the wine options.  The service was quick and we always had someone walking by and refilling water classes and asking if we needed anything.  The bathrooms were also very cool.  The cocktails were great- especially the jalapeño and cucumber one.

The Ok:  I had the scallop to start and it was just ok...nothing remarkable...the scallop was perfectly cooked, but it seemed a bit bland.  For the entree, I had the the pork shoulder which was good, but small considering how expensive it was.  By boyfriend had the risotto and was not impressed at all.  He said it tasted like rice in a bechamel sauce with frozen veggies thrown in.

All in all it was a very expensive meal for the two of us and I don't think that we will be going back.

I'm tempted to give 1 star because of our entree was so unacceptable, that we couldn't eat it.  But I'll add in another star for service, atmosphere, and an amazing mussel appetizer.  Jack, the bartender is amazing - I would go back to get drinks from him, but definitely not for dinner.

Regarding the food, we ordered the Slow Cooked Pork Shoulder for dinner.  It was hands down unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber.  Unless you like eating a slab of pork fat.  We sent the first one back because there was only two bites of meat on a 28 dollar dish.  They apologized and were very gracious.  The chef brought out the next one and was really kind.  Unfortunately, it was the same - a huge slab of pork fat, this time with 3 bites of meat on it.  I'm not talking about the slow cooked fatty meat that you should get in a pork shoulder.  This looked like a tray of white jello that didn't resemble meat in the slightest.  Pure lard.

For 28 bucks?  Seriously guys, you should be very, very embarrassed.

Like I said, the service was great, but spending over 70 bucks and still needing to go eat dinner because they were unable to provide more than a few bites for that amount?  No thanks.  Not going back and would advise you to go elsewhere if you're having dinner.  For drinks and apps, the place would be great.

Be still my fancy restaurant loving heart.

Heather R. was spot on when likening this place to dining at Anthropologie. It's visually incredibly, the staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and polite, and the food is interesting and flavorful. I went for the special - sweet potato and chile pancake with agave butter...with a side of pulled pork...topped with a poached egg (!!!!) Mark S. went with hush puppies served with a crawfish fondue. We were both more than pleased with our choices and felt the portion size was fair for the price, especially given the unique ingredients. We've already made reservations to take family visiting in December, though we'll certainly be back before then!

Cool decor. Staff was well trained and friendly.  There were many tables that would not leave so others with reservations could be seated. Several parties (like us) ended-up being seated 20+ mins late. Campers like that are really clueless and/or just don't care. The maitre de was great and bought our first 2 drinks for our patience (yes, I was actually patient).  It's a tough spot for the restaurant, I know, so I really don't hold it against them...it's the ever-so-special guests who apparently don't understand etiquette.

    Food:
Crawfish beignets were good, if a little doughy. Sauce was outstanding.
I strongly recommend ordering various small plates as they were all excellent. However, both entrees were pricey for what they were and really just "average" at best. Cornish Hen was semi-dry and plopped on a waaaay too heaping pile of green lentils (boring and ugly) and the fun sounding Fried Duck Burger was tasty enough but funky texture and very crumbly laid atop some too-dry cornbread that fell apart as well. Housemade chips were delicious (of course).

Our particular server was pleasant but really inattentive and we had to chase him down more than once to get the check.  What is with the guys who think it's OK to just hang-out and chat with the hostess without even a GLANCE around at their tables. Sigh.

Overall "good" buy it will be a place to go with a few friends and have a drink and apps. Not dinner per se...nope.

Amazing - a favorite so far in my three months of living in Denver. Just be sure you've planned time in your Sunday for a nap afterward.

Whimsical and inventive atmosphere. We went for brunch and started with perfectly-seasoned Bloody Marys and Monkey Brains (a pecan cinnamon roll that's just ridiculous). Then dove into the Ugly Yogurt Crepes (stuffed with Dungeness crab and goat cheese with a brûléed onion hollandaise - unexpected and rich) and the Barkin' Dogs (crawfish pimento cheese fondue and hushpuppies, with a spinach omelet). I could've ordered every item on the menu and been pleased as punch. They even have some gluten-free items, too. Really kind and attentive staff. This was surely the first of many brunches to come here.

Known not only for their dinner but their brunch as well!

We made the trip out here for brunch on Saturday and glad we did. The restaurant itself has a nice serene decor and there aren't a lot of folks dining for brunch - so it feels quiet and cozy.

My experience was very different from start to finish ....

Initially looking at the menu, I was surprised to see such exotic sounding dishes and wondering at the same time how it will taste... When the food comes out , the flavors blend in wonderfully ... When I excuse myself to the restroom, the bathroom leaves me oddly astounded.

The brunch prices are decently priced especially when you see what you get and the quality of the food. I got the crepe with crab and it was delicious - melt in your mouth savory goodness (a very filling dish). E got the roast beef sandwich which was open faced. The sandwich was delicious with nice juicy cuts of roast beef to the freshness of the yellow and green tomato slices . It was just very difficult to eat or share.

Great place and would definitely come back to try the other brunch options if I'm in the area.

My 4 year old daughter and I enjoyed one of the best dinner experiences last night at B&W. I wouldn't recommend this place for those with children who don't sit still well, like to yell alot, or aren't into new food adventues. My daughter has an exceptionally adventurous palate so it was a perfect fit for us.

When we arrived we were told there was no children's menu...not a worry for us. I asked the waitress if she could make a cocktail for my daughter and they made a very nice refreshing lavender limeade. I ordered the the Cucupena which was absolutely divine!!! The staff there was extremely nice. LOVED THEM.

We noshed on the cheese boardto start, and everything was so good. My daughter even licked the spoon containing the ever so yummy jam. The pickles that were served with it were also to die for! We then ordered the Black mussels which came with toasted foccacia bread and a broth that my daughter slurped up using her newly cleaned jam sppon :) I had the stroganoff, which had amazing clean flavors and was cooked to perfection, my only complaint for this dish would be that it needed a texture. The "noodle" cake was the consistency of baked tofu (and too similar to the mushrooms),  I was kind of wishing that it was more like a crispy noodle nest (just my opinion) still very good nonetheless!

I definitely recommend using the restroom while you're there, as that proved to be a fun experience all on it's own. The ambiance in this restaurant is quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Definitely recommend for a small plates night with friends or a date!!!

B&W is like eating in the great outdoors, except you are inside. The restaurant is decorated with dozens of floor to ceiling aspen trees (all salvaged from developer clearings in the area) with lots of cozy semicircle booths. It's a beautiful place in an unlikely locale on south Broadway. But the food makes it even better.

The menu changes regularly and, when we ate there, there were three or four shareable small plates. We chose the crayfish beignets and they were over-the-top good. Ooey-gooey center with rich crayfish sauce and chunks of those crustacean beasts. Little battered balls of goodness. We almost chose the escargot fondue; hopefully that will reappear on the menu in October during NACAC.

The menu also featured about ten side dishes; we ordered the squashamole. It is what it's name implies. Delicious squash with a tasty mole sauce. Some other lovely ingredients made it rich and too good not to finish.

We shared the Colorado whole striped bass. A huge fish arrived and every bite delighted. Fresh, cooked to perfection and so, so good. It was laid on a bed of garlic-tainted spelt and grilled greens (not scrubbed enough imo) with little bites of sausage and a handful of cooked baby tomatoes. I may never forget that fish. And I am grateful it gave its life for such a satisfying dining experience.

Wine options span half glasses to full bottles--so smart. Tam had a glass of a delish Pinot Gris, but I couldn't get past the cocktails. I ordered a cucupéna: a citrus-infused vodka with muddled jalapeño and cucumber, touched by triple sec and lemonade. In fact, I had two. And might have had more if Tam hadn't given me "the look."

The dessert menu could have been written just for me, though I doubt it really was. All my favorites in one place. Thought I'd died. But we settled on the malted milk custard. Okay. Are there words for this? "Supreme" might approach the word to describe these dollops of rich chocolatey custard flanked by two more dollops of fresh dense whipped cream and dotted with raspberries and pieces of hazelnut and chocolate crisps. The French press decaf was a value-added. That, and the complimentary port. If its complimentary, it must be good, right?

Service was good, kind, unhurried and caring. We felt our server really wanted us to have a good experience. And we did. In fact it was a great experience. This one is on the list for October.

    ***BRIDAL SHOWER TEA PARTY***

Joy is a culmination of the senses (sound, sight, smell, taste & touch), brought about by an entire packaged experience.  Months of procuring the right decorations, hand-made invites, unique games and the right venue and food culminated in a heart-warming and memorable event.  And yes, the joy on my bestie's face, was worth all the planning.  For reals!  :)

The bridal shower decoration theme was victorian vintage, and a tea party at Beatrice & Woodsley fit absolutely perfectly with this.  Don't underestimate the aesthetic appeal of the room your party is in, because the quaint fabulousness of the Cellar Dining room was a big contributor to the overall success of the party.  The entire restaurant has such aesthetic appeal, that the only decorations really needed--if any--are table decorations like we had.  The Cellar already had a type of vintage air to it: shabby chic dining chairs, green topiary-esque shrubbery framing a brick wall and a large painting that reminded me of Marc Chagall's whimsical style of work.  One wall held a glass enclosed shelf of wine.  White-washed fence panels where placed in difference areas.  I could probably keeping going on and on; bottom line, A+ on aesthetic appeal.

The room comfortably fit sixteen guests at one long table, and we had use of another small table for a scrapbook/sign-in station, another for gifts, and another small table for picture frames and decorations that didn't fit on the dining table.  We loved this room, because we had room to play games!  And every wall was a great backdrop for photos!

The restaurant actually also has a large semi-private alcove area on the main dining floor that would have been a nice spot for the party as well, but we chose the completely private option.

The finger sandwiches, cookies, scones, etc. were served on small silver platters.  I didn't get to eat too much, because I was playing host, but from what I tasted it was good!  They even brought out adorable individual mini creme brulee dishes and strawberries.  From what the guests told me, the food was fab.  A handful of guests asked me how I had found the venue, and of course I replied by the fab yelp reviews!  I'll be back in the area soon for the wedding, and we're definitely going to try and come back for their brunch!

The wait staff was fab!  We had a lot of table decorations, and they were able to set up around them.  We were having such a great time that our party went over our allotted time (luckily there was no party reserved after ours), and they were gracious enough to let us stay longer.

The only real hiccup was it was super hot, and the restaurant was trying its best to get air to circulate into the room, but the intense heat in the area has been unprecedented.  This was my first time at the restaurant so, I'm not sure what the temp is normally like in the Cellar, but it was definitely cooler on the main floor.  We still had a blast though.  I think also everyone else was more used to the heat, because I'm from the Bay Area CA where it's hot but with a breeze usually, so I was melting everywhere I went in CO.  LOL.  :)

This was the full experience for my beloved bestie: all our senses wowed!  It's not just the day of the wedding you're going to remember, but the days and events leading up to that special day.  And, I'm so glad our party at Beatrice & Woodsley is going to hold a special place in my bestie's heart forever.

Our book club decided to dine at Beatrice & Woodsley to discuss our latest read.  It was the perfect setting to focus on a novel in which the woods are sort of a secondary character.

I began my evening at the bar with a refreshing and delicious Violet Beauregard (muddled blueberries, vodka, simple syrup and St. Germaine).  Once the rest of the group arrived, we sat in one of the comfy rounded booths.  Since none of the entrees grabbed me, I opted for the stroganoff small plate (seared flank steak over a potato cake finished with bacon-mushroom vinaigrette).  The steak was cooked perfectly and the dish had a wonderful flavor throughout.  I would definitely order it again.  Another of my fellow diners ordered it also and seemed to love it just as much.

Beatrice & Woodsley is a restaurant you should experience at least once, if not for a full meal then maybe just drinks at the bar.  The service is impeccable and the whimsical and charming atmosphere makes you feel miles away from the bustle of Broadway.  For the price, I rate it as a special occasion restaurant but the fresh and creative food and drinks served in such an enchanting atmosphere make the experience special indeed.

Came here for yet another fantastic brunch on Sunday. I have never had a bad meal here!
We had a round of bloody mary's (terrific) at the bar and then settled into our "booth" for brunch.

All the plates were delish. I had the Barkin' Dogs- those hush puppies and crawfish fondue are to die for. I could have done without the spinach omelette. Maybe just over easy eggs instead?? But it didn't matter because I was just noshing on those fried pieces of goodness.
Hubby had the lamb sandwich and that was amaze-balls. Those bbq chips? Lay's has nothing on the chef from B&W. So fresh and fantastic.
My MIL had the fancy french toast. Definitely stick to your ribs but tasty all the same. It was fun to be able to sample everyone's.

We also ordered a side of the rosemary jalapeno grits and spicy potatoes. I wasn't head over heels for either of these sides. The grits had a corn consistency and I prefer more of the creamy variety. That was a disappointment because I typically love grits. I'm not a big potato fan so that could be why I thought those were only so-so. My husband ordered them and he basically licked the plate so he was clearly a fan.

Lastly, I love the bathroom experience here since it always takes me about 5 minutes to figure out how to wash my hands. I especially enjoyed this yesterday since it was my MIL's first visit and we sent her out on her own with no instructions. It's always fun to watch that initial bewildered look. I am not sure if I could handle this place at night! But I'd sure like to try.
Thanks for another lovely brunch, B&W!

PERFECT BRUNCH! The Dr and I have been meaning to get into B & W for months. It was 10am Saturday, we were nearby and starving. The plan was that if the wait was too long we would settle for The Hornet. We walked right in. The bar was completely available with full service. The dinning room less than half full. We sat immediately. They immediately brought us 4 small freshly-made complimentary doughnuts with whipped citrus cream. The Dr had the fantastic Barking Dogs plate with savory hushpuppies and a crawfish fondue (I couldn't really taste the pimentos).  I had the John Fever for a 'benedict-like' plate with incredible roasted cauliflower.

A truly memorable elegant brunch at the same price as many of the pubs. Planning on getting a reservation for a group to share this perfect brunch.

So we were having girls weekend and decided to look for a place that took reservations as I've sort of decided that I don't like waiting outside snooze for an hour before eating.  They have the menus online and this place looked really good and cute inside (neither of us have high-heel type jobs so its fun to wear them out every once and again).

The food was delicious.  We had the spinach omelette with hush puppies and some sort of pimento cheese-crawfish dip.  Mmmmm! I spend a lot of time in South Carolina and NEVER see hush puppies here and so was really excited that they were so good. ($11)

We also got the sheared lamb and egg sandwich on brioche which was so so good too.  ($13?)

Add my french pressed cup of coffee with raw sugar and cream--warning though, this isn't the type of joint where they come around refilling.  Which is alright only because the one cup was so good.

The whole meal was a little over 30 dollars for us, which really isn't that much more than a little less fancy place.  And we didn't have to wait.  And we got to sit with aspen trunks around us.  Definitely recommend for brunch.

So what if I fell down on the floor screaming and crying when the server asked us to leave because we had overstayed our welcome at brunch and there were people waiting?  I really like this place.  An acquaintance had told me it was "weird", and boy is it!  In a great way.  I can not describe the decor.  You have to see it.  Although, I can say that I have never seen shelves held up by chainsaws before.

We went here for brunch, and if you want to sit at a traditional table, this is more of a loungy seating arrangement, low table with a bench seat.  The bar is also quite long.  One other thing to mention.  This place has no outdoor signage.  You really need to know the exact address.

I was quite proud of myself for passing up the Monkey Brains (I guess their take on monkey bread) in favor of something more pedestrian....the Sandwich Cienfuegos, sort of a Cuban style breakfast sandwich.  SO good!  I did not have alcohol because I had a long day ahead but the coffee was good, and my brunch companions enjoyed their bloody marys and blood orange mimosa.

The service was also spectacular, and we were so comfortable in this super cool space that we did stay a little too long, and didn't even notice people cooling their heels in line.  I felt bad for the guy who had to ask us to leave.  As a warning to you...go here, check out the secret compartment bathrooms, eat a great meal, hang out a little, but leave when you're supposed to.  Give everyone else a chance to experience it.  I can't wait to go back for dinner.

A few of us Book Club members ventured to Beatrice & Woodsley the other evening to discuss, sip a good drink, and taste some delicious eats.

In order to find B&W, you must keep your eyes peeled:  there isn't any large sign advertising its location, only a menu is displayed in the door window.  So be sure to look for the window front with an ethereal woodsy scene within.

Upon entering, I was immediately thankful I researched the attire section:  dressy is a must!  I'm sure you could get away with a more casual outfit here, but this is definitely a classy, upscale place.  So do dress the part!  And come on, who doesn't like putting on a lovely outfit once and a while?  B&W is straight out of a fairy tale:  creamy beige sets the tone while birch trees frame the room.  It's really incredible and lovely.

Our small group started at the bar but were quickly seated near the front of the dinning room.  Our server was spot on and made sure to check on us frequently without being intrusive.  We all ordered fabulous mix drinks, mine being some divine creation of blueberries, vodka, and St. Germaine.  If you've read any of my reviews, you know I'm a sucker for a St. Germaine cocktail, and hot damn, B&W knocked this one out of the park!  If it hadn't been a $10 drink, I certainly would've ordered a second.

Next up, the food!  B&W has a very small menu, which hopefully means that do them all very well.  I decided on the beef stroganoff, as did another member of the table.  The other member of the group opted for a chicken-duck burger, if I recall correctly, which looked incredibly amazing.  As for my dish, while on the small side, the beef stroganoff was very tasty and seared to perfection.  I can only imagine how the rest of the menu sizes up!

Beatrice & Woodsley was a lovely experience from start to finish!  Although it's a bit pricey for a regular night out, it certainly is worth a special occasion visit.

Man, where to start. This place is gorgeous. Seems a little pretentious, but who cares. The food is good. Seriously, though a little cozy, the decor is top notch. And cozy, could be intimate, right? Enough babble, have only been there once with some friends, but hopefully the woman and I will dine here again this week. The crawfish beignets might have been a little lacking in the actual crawfish, but that damned duck burger was amazingly good. Drool worthy in my humble opinion. And I love how they tag your wine, because after a while, you will forget what the hell you are drinking...

Highly recommended! Can't wait to go back!

Went to Beatrice & Woodsley for our wedding anniversary. It was fantastic! Everything we got from the drinks to the entrees was fabulous. Great service, cool decor. Loved the bathrooms (not that bathrooms should matter too much). Very pleased. We had the crawfish beignets, daily restorative, pork belly and the squash a'mole!
It was slightly expensive, so I would only go on special occasions, but we were very pleased when we left.

OMG. I loved the ambiance/decor of Beatrice & Woodsley! It was so amazing in there~

The food was delicious as well, but we were there for an event with a pre-fixe menu, so I don't know about how the norm would be. I assume the quality and taste of the food is still spot on.

We had so much fun at the bathroom. I love the way they've decorated everything about this restaurant, and the sink is probably the coolest thing I've seen. A bunch of metal things just drop from the ceiling into the sink and you pull on this, and watch as water trickles down. UH MAZ ING.

Can't wait to go back and try out some more food~

I love the decor. Probably my favourite decor in Denver with a space that invites you to linger transporting you out of S Broadway.

Dinner menu is fun and perfect for sharing. I've dined here a few times and always shared a few dishes all tasty and interesting

Has brunch last weekend there for the first time. It has a nice drinks selection, a more sophisticated brunch than your typical eggs Benedict and pancakes in other places yet at reasonable prices and without a wait.

I fell in love with Beatrice & Woodsley the first time I was in there a few years back, and the infatuation only grows each time I visit!  Pretty much everything about the place appeals to me.  Starting with the fact that they don't have a big sign out front with their name on it.  I can see how it might be agravating the first time going there, especially if you're like me and like to find the place I'm going and then start circling to find a parking spot as close as possible.  It makes you feel like you're in on the secret or something, and that's just the beginning.

Once inside the decor and ambiance have to be experienced to be completely appreciated.  Lots of hardwood and soft light, all helping to make you feel welcome and happy.  Like everything about B&W, it's way different than anywhere I'd ever been in a VERY GOOD way.

A friend had her birthday dinner there last Saturday and everyone had a really great time!  We were seated in the basement/wine cellar, which is quite a bit different that the main area upstairs and it worked wonderfully for our table of 10.  We still could go upstairs to enjoy it on our way to use that bathroom.  Not that there wasn't one downstairs, everyone just wanted to check out the main bathrooms - which you have to do if you go there as they are pretty darn cool.

The drinks at B&W are all prepared with top shelf liquor and they have some tougher to find options as well.  The wine and beer lists offer something for everyone as well.  This time out I tried a cocktail called Worm's Wild Ride, which was kind of a twist on an Old Fashioned and was quite tasty.

I always get some of their beignets, the last few times they've been made with crawfish.  They are wicked good!  This time my girlfriend and I also split small plates of Crispy Veal Sweetbreads (served on wild rice griddle cakes, yummy!) and the Squash a Mole (squash and beets with chevre and an awesome mole sauce, double yummy!).  Lastly, we split the Pork Belly entree and both totally loved it.

The portions aren't giant and the prices aren't cheap, but sometimes it feels REALLY good to eat food that is part art form and part sustenance.  I know that I've never left hungry, or without a big smile on my face!
