For any of you who grew up in the midwest, this is your standard Wisconsin log cabin bar shoved into the middle of Venice Blvd.  And that is a complement.  The bar is hard to miss since the sign is light up by large white light bulbs, like an old theater advertisement on Broadway.  Once inside, it's cozy.  There is a nice happy hour ($5 cocktails) and a bustling crowd.  If you're lucky there will be some live music with a bluegrass band.  This is a great place if you want to escape the "LA scene" for a little drink and a hideout.  The one downside - scrambling for street parking near the bar can be a pain.

Awesome happy hour (from 5 - 9pm) with $5 cocktails. Best part, is you can bring outside food into the bar. If you ask them, they will give you their binder full of take out menu's. You can also order AMAZING empenada's from Venice Bakery (next door) for only $3. The Spinach one is my favorite.

On Tuesday, they have trivia night, which is a blast. It starts at 9, so typically we get there by 830 to get a good seat, and order multiple drinks at the happy hour price. It's a fun cheap night.

Hot DAMN, I love this bar. Sure, I could do without the taxidermy, but that notwithstanding, Bigfoot West is a truly great location to imbibe. It's hip without being pretentious, with a focus on quality spirits and concoctions, and a great, albeit small, draft beer list. Why wouldn't I like it? There's something for everyone at this bar. You want a cheap happy hour cocktail? Check. Craft beer on tap? Check. Delicious whiskey cocktails with a slightly higher price point? Check. Beer and shot deals with cheaper American canned brews? Check. And all within a nice, dimly lit bar with a faux-hunting lodge feel that manages to avoid kitsch or condescension.

You know how sometimes you go somewhere in LA, and it just feels sooooo painfully "LA" that you want to vomit all over yourself? Well, that won't happen here. Yeah, sure, you may find some people dressed up for a night on the town, but you'll also see folks in casual attire, and it really don't matter either way. There's hardly a dress code at Bigfoot West.

I'll be honest and say that I've only been to this location a handful of times, but I've never left disappointed--well, except a couple weeks ago, when I felt disappointed that I WAS leaving to go on to far less satisfying venues. Each time I have visited, I have been more than satisfied with my drink choices and the overall ambiance.

I tend to be a beer drinker at bars because cocktails are ridiculously expensive, but I've had the Bourberry here and it's truly a must-try. Bourbon, muddled strawberries, mint...so good. It's also $12 or $13, which is pretty standard for LA cocktail prices (but still EXPENSIVE!). I also, on one visit, got a shot of Jameson with a pickle juice back for $5 or $6, and I thank you to stop judging right now, because that ish was DELICIOUS. During happy hour, they also have $5 classic cocktails, and you really can't go wrong with a well-made Old Fashioned, can you?

If you're looking for beer, they have a limited draft selection, some good bottle choices, and a rotating cask option, which I think is pretty fancy. There's a patio for smokers. There are multiple food options well within walking distance if you need to fill the ol' belly after imbibing. Hell, there are even other bars you can trot over to if the mood strikes. When combined with decent prices, friendly bartenders, a great vibe, and good friends, what's not to like?

Unless you're here with people who suck...in which case I suggest ditching them and inviting some less shitty people to hang out with. Seriously.

Idk what it is but my friends love this place. I think its whatever.

Parking can be hard to find so just valet it ($5).  On a good note you can make reservations for FREE and have an assigned space!!! That is rare in LA!!!

Been here a few times and it is a great bar to get a good strong cocktail.

The bar is dimly lit and looks like a log cabin with lots of interesting and neat decorations. Lots of wood, antlers and taxidermy animals...all in good taste.

There is seating along the wall as well as a bar in the center and an outdoor patio. The drinks here are always strong, unique and tasty. My go to here is the moscow mule (which is delicious). Last night I had a new very delicious vodka cocktail but do not remember the name of it and it is not showing up on their online menu.

This is a great spot to come for a drink. In the past we have gone for pho after at the Vietnamese restaurant next door.

This has become one of my go- to bars, great for...
    - Happy Hour from 5 to 9 nightly with $5 drinks
    - Great for groups - I've been to several birthday parties here, just contact them a week or so in advance to reserve the area
    - Amazing whiskey and bourbon selection
    - Live Bluegrass from the Get Down Boys most Sunday nights
    - Nice selection of classic cocktails
    - Action Trivia on Tuesdays (actually very hard!)

They lose a star for not having any food, except for some random empanads you can order from the bakery next door (only available when the stars align).  They also have pretty slow service most of the time - please be patient with your bartender.

    $5 happy hour. wow.

The ambience is dark and dingy.

The drinks are stiff and cheap.

    The bartenders are nice.

They also sell empenadas from Venice Bakery. A little tiny for what you pay, but tastes good.

Walk/taxi/uber your way here. You won't be able to drive after a few drinks

I will admit that my first impression of Bigfoot was terrible, but only because the boyfriend and I spent no less than thirty minutes trying to find street parking.  It was one of the most frustrating parking situations I have ever been in.  We ended up having to do the $7 valet, which we were trying to avoid.

The bar itself is fun, but so dark that you hardly notice the surroundings enough to admire them.  It was also super crowded in the front; we were towards the back where it was inexplicably less crowded and then scored seats in the back lounge area for our entire group.  That may be my favorite part of the whole bar-- we didn't get yelled at for grabbing seats even after stealing a seat or two from a "reserved" area (the people never showed anyway) and we had a grand old time, all squished together, just happy to have found such lucky seating.

It took a looooong long time for the bartender to get around to me, but it was a Saturday evening so no complaints.  We did luckily have some stools open up at the back of the bar there for us to sit and spin on while we waited to have our orders taken.  Again, I have no idea why the back of the bar was so abandoned, especially when the front was so crowded.  You would expect a little diffusion of people to happen so that everyone had a little personal space.

The toasted marshmallow drink was tasty, and a bit expensive, as expected, for the novelty of having a marshmallow lit on fire in your drink.  Didn't bother getting another drink, cause I was on a budget that night.

A great novelty place; but maybe shouldn't be your first choice for a busy Fri or Sat night.

Log cabin ambience in low lighting makes you feel like you just spent the day chopping wood and you deserve a drink. So you look at the drink menu and see plenty of interesting choices, including some beers that sound like only your hipster friends know about them.  You ask the bartender in classy-yet-easy-going attire for a recommendation and he tells you how much he loves one particular drink that judging by his description is a party in your mouth and throat. You smile and begin opening your mouth, about to tell him to go ahead and make you that drink, when he then starts talking about a second drink that sounds like the experience of a three-day orgy.  Now you're mad that he gave you more than one choice and cursed you with indecision. Thinking about this for what seems like an eternity but in reality is less than three seconds, you say "I'll have the second one you mentioned." Then you stand at the bar and scan the room as the bartender goes to prepare your eleven-course libation. You're thinking "Yeah I ordered that drink. I ordered that drink like a pimp. And when he's done making it I'm gonna walk around with that fancy drink in my hand like I own the place. Who wants to socialize with this royalty-quality bar patron known as Moi?" Then you notice everyone else has a nice looking drink or a quality beer, and you go back to feeling like a guy who just got done chopping wood.

If you want this to happen to you go to Bigfoot West.

I got drunk here so I'll return and get drunk here again. It's a classy place. The bartenders are cool too. When you leave don't forget the bacon wrapped hot dogs grilling on the lady's grill outside to the left in front of the video game store, I mean if you're into that sort of thing.

I had a really great time here on a Saturday night for my birthday! We had a fairly large group (10+ people). We didn't make a reservation but we got there quite early to enjoy the happy hour (HH 5-9PM) and we were able to find seats.

I am not a whiskey person but the pickleback was awesome and so were their vodka-based drinks!

Overall, the place was chill, with great atmosphere, and the service was good. I would totally come back again!

We had a lot of fun at Bigfoot West. We had a large group, and made reservations. We had a section along the wall near the bar. I had the gimlet that was listed on their Happy Hour menu. It was really sweet and good. We ordered empanadas and had them delivered in. The only problem we had was that so many  ordered empanadas that some of the orders got mixed up.  Other than that it was a really fun time.

i like the decor and the entire atmosphere there.
im surprised to find this nice little bar in culver city!
although i find the menu a little too short and limited lol.
i was hoping to find more extensive drinks on there and was willing to try them all! haha
but $5 cocktails until 9pm wasnt bad at all.
i still like the place and def will go back for more!

One of the best happy hours in town. $5 cocktails until 9pm.

Good place to drink and talk.

Downside is it can get crowded, and sometimes the smoke from the patio blows inside.

Overall a good place to grab a couple drinks after work.

One of my favorite bars in LA so far. Happy hour daily until 9pm is pretty remarkable, especially considering the quality of the cocktails. Very cool vibe, good music, I like to come during the week - it's not dead or obnoxiously busy either. They also serve Hitachino Nest Ale, so they are already a winner in my book just for that.

    Not shabby...

Not far off from a shack...

In the woods... Decorated in antlers...

    Don't bring animal activists here.

It can get crowded, especially when a great bluegrass band is playing, but there is a great room just off the main bar.

The main bar is small, so be careful if you're too drunk to maneuver. Or if you are maneuvering a friend who is.

You come here for the old fashions, the rest is moot.

Pretty cool little watering hole in the Venice area. It's has that rustic, log cabin vibe with the decor to match. It's cozy and comfortable and the perfect home for hipsters so be prepared for plenty of plaid, dark framed glasses, and obscure music references, haha.

The bartenders are friendly and pour some pretty stiff and creative drinks. I'm a Jameson on the rocks type of fella so I can't speak to the fluffy drinks that they offer but from what I read -- they seem pretty legit.

I've only been here a handful of times but I've always enjoyed myself and highly recommend that you give it a try. Oh, and during Happy Hours you can order empanadas from the bakery next door; chicken, beef and cheese and spinach. Trust me, they're damn good after a drink or two.

Really cute bar. Great for all kinds of social outings. I hear that they usually have a band play. Too bad for me, not the night I showed up.

Parking on the street is not hard to find.

    Drinks are average priced.

There are other cool spots that are walking distance.

I will most certainly be back.

Such a cool spot! I've come here twice and both times it was so much fun. Drink prices were reasonable, bartenders and patrons were nice, and the tables at the back were great to sit around and talk with friends. I'm glad I found this!

Found myself yearning to go back to Bigfoot West the other night: I missed the folky-cabin feel, available and spacious group seating, ... and of course, the tasty drinks!

Came on a Friday night with a big group. My buddy had already snagged a table so we were off to a fantastic start! The rest of the place was crowded but not too loud. Reading other Yelp reviews I realized why we were able to properly socialize here: no TVs! Wow, what a huge difference that made!!

Drank a BOURBERRY because I was looking for something w/ ginger beer -- it was close to worth the price ($12.00/cocktail), came in a hipster-y mason jar, and the fresh fruit was a refreshing touch. Got to try other friends' drinks too: Old Fashioned was very popular.

I've never had a bad time here. Been here for chilled nights where I want to sit back and relax and have a drink. Been here for crazy nights too, where my skinny brother becomes this tough guy who thinks he can outdrink anybody. Nice try, bro. Point is, you just can't go wrong here!

The pours are great, albeit a steep price for some of their specialty cocktails, the bartenders are amazing and social.

The decor inside is unrivaled for the area. They definitely got that cabin feel down.

For drinks, I'd say try the Girl Scout Cookie and have a Pickleback. You won't be disappointed!

Also, I love that you'll never know who you'll meet here, it's just such an eclectic mix. I've met people who have come 30 miles away. That's gotta be a good sign!

The fact that my brother lives just around the corner from Bigfoot, it makes choosing a place to go out so easy.

Last but not least, THERE'S NO TV. Thank god. That's probably why I've had some of the most interesting conversations here, no frills, no fancies, no fucks given!

P.S. Don't say this place is in Palms, not Culver City!!! For some reason my brother, once a Palms resident, and now a CC one across the street hates this!!!

My favorite go to local bar for drinking, carousing, and talking with others. No TVs which is great if you have no desire to watch anything. A steady stream of regulars that are easy to talk to. A good stream of regular bartenders who are easy to talk to. Great drinks like the Old Fashioned & Thirsty Crow and unique drink specials.

Who doesn't like wooded log interior and dead (I'm sure faux) animal heads?

Tuesday night Trivia. Sunday night bluegrass band.

Always a solid place to go to in Culver City/Palms area.  They have one of the best Happy Hour menus when it comes to Whiskey, which is how I roll!  Gets crowed though and unless you make a reservation, the tables are hard to snag.  Good music though and good booze, so if thats what you want while looking at dead animals on the wall, you found your place!!

    BAM.

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the drinks are so expensive---that being said, they make incredibly tasty cocktails, that are totally worth splurging on, at least every once in a while.

The atmosphere is great; good, friendly crowd--my friends and I usually end up making new friends (at least for the night) when we're here. One of my fav spots in LA!

Though Bigfoot West offers a a unique and fun decor, occasional live band and happy hour, the space smelled stale, the band spent more time setting up then playing, and the drinks were just 'ok'.

The drink prices were decent and the bar had a patio from which you could safely observe the crazy homeless folks wandering back and forth threatening to fight one-another over...turf?

Overall, doubtful that I will be back unless I'm in the area and really out of options...but might try the sister bar in Los Feliz (I've heard it offers a bit more in terms of location and ambiance)

The drinks were reasonably prices and the special on Old Fashions was right up my alley...(im a whiskey man)

The service however...leave something to be desired. I went late on the 30th of December to meet up some friends. So of course first thing i want to do is order a round, little did i know it would be a long while before i would get one.

Took about 10 minutes to flag down a bartender, but i finally got the attention of the female bartender working that night and placed my order. The female Bartender took my order then proceeded to make drinks for other patrons who ordered after me. I then spent 10 minutes watching her proceed to take drink orders and make drinks. I was finally able to flag down the other male bartender to ask why she had ignored my drink order, only to be told she was in the process of making my drinks. (only mind you after he asked her) The female bartender finished my drinks, then walked over to the male bartender(who was one the opposite side from where i was, to hand him my drinks so he could walk them over to me. (WHO DOES THIS?!? why not just give me the drinks herself?)

In addition, the area where i was sitting there was broken glass from about 2 drinks which had been there for a while before we sat down. A busser had come by twice and cleaned up the glasses on our table but ignored the sticky floor and the shards of glass on the ground. This was my second time at this venue, the first time i really enjoyed myself (it was a Thursday night and not as busy). This time around, im going to have to say i will not be returning unless a friend drags me there.

If not for the drinks and special, this would have easily become a 1 star.

When first entering this place, I felt average. Aside from the moose and deer heads on the walls, Bogfoot West is your typical bar: small, loud, bumpy with drunk people. Prices are reasonable, but I wouldn't pay a penny more given its mediocrity.

Overall, its attributes result in 3 stars. The -1 star is for the disgusting bathroom.

What a unique, fun spot! I ended up coming here twice last week. Once you step inside, you'll feel like you entered someone's warm, comfortable cabin in the woods... with a party and strong drinks, of course. You can't help but be happy in the woodsey atmosphere.

Drinks are strong, expensive, and delicious. Get the Toasted Marshmallow for something different, or even if you just like seeing a bartender light things on fire. The Manhattan was strong and one of the best I've tried. We also tried a Tattoo Tea (mellow and smooth, for those who don't like strong-tasting drinks) and a Maple Bacon Old Fashioned, which was unlike any other drink I've ever tried. The fantastic drinks are reason to come here alone.

Live music some nights. And the Saturday night DJ was amazing.... we were Shazaam-ing every few minutes. Very cool, unique mix.

They don't serve food, and parking is easy to find on the street.

I wish I could say I had nothing but a perfect experience here, but last weekend, I accidentally left my phone on my table at closing time. The manager and staff were beyond nice and helpful... letting me in to the back door right after the bar had closed, helping me look, taking down my contact information, and calling my phone. They didn't have to do that and really seemed to care. Finally, the bouncer noticed and told me that just after we'd left, he saw a lady in polka dot pants from the back booth walk over, swipe my phone quickly, and leave. Lady in polka dot pants, shame on you for stealing a phone from a poor, unemployed girl who can't afford a new one, 3 days before Christmas. Santa is not coming to your house because you are a terrible person. I don't like you and I'm sure your mother doesn't like you either.

Anyway, great, fun bar, just keep your belongings close!

It's like I stepped into a cabin in the woods... and all the bartenders are wearing decade pieces. I loved it.

On a weeknight, the drinks are about 10-14 dollars.... so I guess that's expected? But I've definitely gotten cheaper drinks other places. BUT, the atmosphere is what you pay for here.

I sat at one of the little round tables with a friend and we drank our drinks by candle light and enjoyed the music (played some awesome music too; some indie and alternative rock). haha. very nice.

I've been here twice, once on a empty Monday and another on a busy Saturday night.

On Monday: bartenders were nice and attentive (of course, there's no one in sight) and they have stiff drinks and a few I can only find in specialty bars. They took their time crafting mt poison.

On Saturday night, this place turned into a cluster-f#$k.

Just... hipster central. For every girl here there was easily 5-6 guys. Not good odds. It took me 10 minutes to get a beer and the bar was full of people who didn't wanna move since they had prime territory.

This place suffers from being extremely small and over-crowded. You just end up standing around after awhile. Just like any other bar like this, the booths are always taken and are taken for the remainder of the night.

They have an outdoor patio out front, so if people watching is your thing while you smoke, then have at it. Sadly, this isn't a very foot-traffic-heavy area so you'll do more car-watching than anything.

The decor feels nice though, it feels like you just stepped foot into the northwest, or at least somewhere where a real bigfoot would hang out?

To celebrate 79 years of Prohibition the 1933 Group celebrated the legalization of alcohol by doing a 50 cent promo on 3 cocktails; Bigfoot West was one of the bars of that belong to this group.
I arrived around 6ish and was able to score a seat at the bar area. Ordered the moonshine drink and also a Underground. Both were pretty good, actually, darn good for a buck! One thing I must mention though is when I gave the bartender a $20 bill she gave me back $14. I told her of the shortage and she tried to argue with me. Anyway, I'm sure she was overwhelmed by the crowd although I don't think it's acceptable to argue back about her carelessness.
Most likely won't be back as parking is bad, I had to park 2 blocks away.  I also didn't like the fact that I could smell cigarette smoke sitting at the bar.

I hear a guy trying to pick up a girl there using a line of I am a writer LOL Funny thing is our table was full of writer too so guess this is a spot for writer to be themselves and hang out LOL

Got a chance to check out Bigfoot West on a recent visit to L.A. for the holidays.

I am not sure if they are related to the Bigfoot Lodge in S.F., but same concept though.

Loggers motif with stuffed animal heads on the wall.  It is significantly bigger than the Bigfoot location in San Francisco. It's a lot roomier too, and they've got outdoor seating on the wide sidewalk that runs along Venice Blvd.

It was a pleasant surprise to come to this location as it's located on the part of Venice blvd that hits Prospect Ave, the street that I pretty much grew up on.

    SIGH !  : D

You can't ever hate this place (or any Bigfoot Lodge for that matter). Seriously! Don't like drinking? It's got this cool log cabin ambiance. Don't like log cabins? Take a few shots and pretend you're in an Anthropology store during a blackout. Scared of Bigfoot? Come on! He's just misunderstood, plus, he only works on Mondays and Wednesdays, so just avoid those days and you should be fine! Think it's too hipster for you? What does that even mean? That the people who come here are all wearing wayfarers and scarves and knee high plaid socks? Well, it's pretty dark in there so as long as you leave your night vision goggles at home you won't even notice. Plus they're still people you hater! haha..

I've spent many a night here turning my hard earned cash into liquid "good times!"

The bartenders are chill, the people that come here are pretty cool (generally), and overall, it's a nice place to hang with friends after a long day or week or even month.

If you're on the fence about checking this place out, don't be. Just go, grab a drink, worst case scenario, you hate it, bitch about it on yelp, and move onto the next bar. Best case scenario, you have the time of your life!!

My favorite Culver City bar.  Hands down.

Fantastic whiskey selection.  You can get hammered in a variety of ways here.  Feel like a Tennessee drunk?  Easy.  Irish buzz?  No problem.  Kentucky destruction?  Down the hatch, man.

But my favorite discovery here is the pickleback.  A whiskey shot chased by a shot of homemade pickle brine.  Sounds gross but I bet so did French kissing when they first invented that.

I prefer Sundays and Monday, if only to beat the crowds, but I'm anti-social that way.
