Biker Jim is the man.  I'm lucky to live a couple of blocks from the Pearl st. farmers market, so in the summer I love diving in to one of his well crafted brats with the works, sriracha, cream cheese, caramelized onions.....come on Summer get here!

So many combos!  All have been sooooo good.  Awesome staff that takes a lot of pride in serving the best cased meats and toppings in Denver.  Props to you guys, and good luck taking over the cased meats market in the US!

I totally love Biker Jim's - all locations!  You can get some killer dogs from a brick & mortar restaurant, a cart, or a food truck and all are amazing.  There are't tiny little wieners either, these are real hot dogs, fit to fill a man sized appetite and I'm a tiny lady!  Expand your horizons past more than just ketchup/mustard and check out some of the truly gormet toppings - you won't regret it!

I'd read about Biker Jim's before we came to Denver and was super excited to try it out.  Though BJ initially gained attention from the likes of Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain while slingin' his wares from a street cart, these aren't your typical street weiners.  I'm talking reindeer, rattlesnake, wild boar, elk, duck, buffalo.. of course, there's run-of-the-mill beef too, but ask for "the usual" and they're slather it with cream cheese and Coca Cola-caramelized onions.  Because that's how Biker Jim's do.

While they still have a cart, now there's also a truck and a restaurant, which is what we opted for on that chilly day.  I tried the cheddar jalapeno elk sausage (and was intrigued enough to go for the cream cheese/onion topping- not bad!  Definitely had a cooling effect on the heat of the sausage, and they were pretty minimal with the cream cheese).  I tried my husband's plain ol' beef and that was really good too!

I was sorely disappointed in the fried green tomatoes I ordered on the side (though initially excited that half orders were available for only $2!)  They were terribly greasy, with the crust falling off, and came atop an awkward pile of (now-greasy) lettuce.  Not so much.

I remember their selection from the soda fountain was awesome and included sarsparilla and black cherry soda..I want to say it was Boylan's though I'm not positive...

I would definitely go back-- next time I am town-- to try another type of adventurous sausage.  But I would definitely stick with the fries or maybe handcut potato chips as a side..

Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere.  I had the Pheasant w/ Desert topping and Duck w/ International topping.  Both were very tasty.  Duck and pheasant flavors were not drowned out by toppings.  They have several toppings pre-selected for you to choose from.  You can, of course, customize to your preference.  The fountain drinks are really good.  Nice selection of flavors.

Oh yeah, the background music was really cool.  60-70's classic rock.  Found myself singing to several songs in between chews.  Definitely work a repeat visit to try the other flavors.

Loved Biker Jim's.  This review is from my visit at his restaurant off Larimer.  You would never think a joint specializing in sausages would be so vegetarian friendly.  I ordered the vegan spicy dog with the desert topping that included onions, cilantro, and a sweet jam/chutney.  It was delicious, the bun they used was also awesome. It appears they have some awesome sides that I would like to try at my next visit but I went for the fries, which were just ok.  It was partially my own fault though because I ordered carry out and they were cold by the time I got home.

I also made note that Jim's has an awesome beer selection that would go great with any sausage.  Mostly Great Divide and Oscar Blues stuff which I appreciate Jim's for being "buy local" conscious. Jim's also appears to have a nice artesanal soda selection if booze is not your thing for the day.

The staff was very pleasant and you could tell really cared about the product.  My only complaint was that it took kind of long to get my food but I didn't mind cause Jim had some classic Pink Floyd playing softly in the back ground, and a place like this is worth the wait.

I was most impressed by the overall feel of the place.  You can tell Jim's cares about the product and supporting the local community.  Highly recommended!

In a three day visit to Denver I ate at Biker Jim's twice. It would have been more, if only I had known sooner. I wish more cities had such an interesting and inventive take on game meats.

This place is THE place for the food snob to get a hot dog in Denver. We totally enjoyed everything we had. Especially notable was the grilled cauliflower salad that seems slightly out of place in a hot dog joint and was a great compliment to the sausages. The deep fried Mac-n-Cheese was a hit with the kids.

Well I finally made it to THE 'House of Dogs' in Denver!
I have to say that I enjoyed my virgin experience and I will be back...most likely with friends in tow. I sampled the Duck & Cilantro dog along with the Rattlesnake & Pheasant. I'm not sure I would call these 'hot dogs'...more like a sausage in my mind,...but I'm not a dog connoisseur so I'm going with it!
The toppings are what make the experience top notch...you have several different ones to choose from and the staff is very knowledgable at what choices you should mix and not.
    Good stuff!

    Mouthgasm-party of one!!

I've been told that I'm not a true Denverite until I go to Biker Jim's and we finally stopped by here the other night. It was the ultimate hipster haven that I knew it would be. As much as I despise hipsters, I wanted to embrace the hipster spirit and ordered a PBR with my meal......and you know what? It's still nasty.

I got the southwest buffalo dog complete with caramelized onions and cream cheese because Biker Jim's thinks this is a good idea for a hot dog topping......and they are absolutely right! I added some banana peppers, jalapenos and brown mustard because I'm saucy like that and dove into it the best I could. Like gyros and big sushi rolls, hot dogs are really awkward to eat, especially when you're sitting with two boys. I kept taking a bite but the dog was too big and not matter how hard I bit in, I couldn't tear it with my teeth. Plus it kept slipping out of the bun and yeaaaaah, this description of the hot dog just got really awkward. In or out of the bun, it was bliss.

I have been to both the carts and the restaurant and without a doubt, this is my go-to hot dog place. The diversity of flavors and combinations is amazing. I've tried the hot link, the wild boar, the pheasant and snake, the linguisa, and the raindeer dogs. All amazing.

For my organization, I even hired Biker Jim's to cater the event and I was surprised to have seen the man himself show up and hand dogs over to my guests. Best Place to get your hot dogs!

Amazing place! One of a kind!

This place has some interesting dogs: Elk, Pheasant, Wild Boar, Rattle Snake!!

I loved them all. The sides are also amazing! My favorites are deep fried mac and cheese and the fried green tomatoes!

They have great beer, natural sodas, TVs, they have it all!

A great place for a quick bite.  It was at the top of the Denver yelp food list, so I definitely had to stop here.  The line next to the cart told me I was at the right place.

I went with the wild boar.  I was surprised at how sweet it was.  It was made sweeter by the onions sautéed in Coca Cola that came with my sausage.  I have never seen that one before.  I need to remember to use that sometime.

Service was friendly and quick.  The guy definitely had his hands full!

    Recommend!

Based on a small bite of one of the "DOGS" offered at Biker Jim's Gourmet Dog Food Truck @ one of the events held by JLSF on Saturday June 30th 2012.  I like the flavor of the "DOG".  Note to self, next time please recall what kind of "dog" I ate, or at least write in down some where or key it in my personal organizer.  Met Biker Jim himself.  One of my friends was so stoked and asked me to take his photograph with Biker Jim.

The service from Biker Jim's Gourmet Dog Food Truck was efficient and prompt coz perhaps we were one of the early patrons at the event.  Biker Jim is indeed a "riot", very approachable guy to have conversation with and I hope to bring Hubs to Biker Jim's actual restaurant.  Perhaps my review might differ to 5 stars and perhaps I could sample or order more of what Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs can offer.

People were a little reluctant to try an "exotic meat hot dog restaurant" so I had to go myself. There's only street parking available, and not much at that. The restaurant is on the smaller side but the food is made pretty quick.

I was told the elk and jalapeno cheddar dog was the most popular, so I tried that, topped with cream cheese and caramelized onions. I was pleasantly surprised at how well all the flavors went together. I wouldn't have expected any hot dog to taste this good.

I also tried the rattlesnake and pheasant dog, with the "desert" topping (cactus, scallions, cilantro, onions). One of the cooks told me that the desert topping was specifically created for the rattlesnake dog, and while it tasted different, it wasn't bad.

One hot dog here is pretty decent sized, especially if you get a topping. I got a second one after only because I wanted to see what it tasted like. There were still other hot dogs I wanted to try, but maybe another time. I like how each dog is a very unique combination and can be paired with toppings that are also unique. Plus the fact that the meat is uncommon makes Biker Jim's a fun place to try.

I haven't had one thing here that I didn't love.

The first time we ate here, we had a bartender who had us leaving buzzed and happy!

I've had the duck and vegan hot dogs but the thing I love the most is the FRIED MAC AND CHEESE!

Seriously, whether you eat meat or not, this place has something for everyone!

The food is outstanding, truly. Sometimes the service seems a little ticked off that you are bothering them. Not mean, just not inviting. The food is great. The originality and the execution are spot on. You can spend $12-$14 on a dog, side, and a beer, which is asking plenty, but the flavor delivers. My wife and I frequently share our food, because the quantity won't let you down either.

Sometimes there is a good happy hour going on, but I have yet to figure out pattern of what days have what specials.

Being edventerous always works here, but even a standard all beef dog is top quality.

Best hot dog I've ever had.  Now true I don't eat a lot of hot dogs, but perhaps it's because they don't normally taste this great.  The menu looked great and I would have like to try several, but I settled on the Southwest Buffalo dog, topped with cream cheese and caramelized onions.  I love how the hot dog is cut into a spiral, so it can be scored all the better with those lovely grill marks.  So yummy!

This place is great for a quick lunch.  The food is cooked and on your table in about 15 minutes.
They always have a great daily special.  And to my surprise, they have one of the best burgers in LoDo.

Not a lot I can say that hasn't been said before but this was my first time with a Biker Jim dog and I was so excited!! Not working downtown has put a kink in my food truck experience.
BUT...(happily) he was at the South Pearl farmers market on Sunday!!! I don't know if he's always there but it looks like food trucks do frequent this location. Hip hip hooray! I will become a regular.
Anyhoos- we'd just had brunch so weren't too hungry but felt compelled to try it. Hubs and I split the elk cheddar jalapeno and told Jim to do it up as he recommended so it came with cream cheese and grilled onions. Yum! Definitely recommend. He knows his dogs and is an awesome dude. Apparently he just shot a pilot for something too. I think we'll be seeing more of our local man in the future!!

What I had?  Louisiana Red Hot and Elk Jalapeno Cheddar (both with carmelized onions and caulk gun cream cheese)  :-)

Food review:  So back in 2007-08, I frequented Biker Jim's cart quite a bit back when Jim was still manning the grill.  Loved trying all sorts of sausages he had to offer on his menu especially the unique ones he would bring on Wednesdays.  Ultimately, though, I found myself liking the Louisiana Red Hot the most.  I then stopped working downtown so it wasn't convenient to get to but every so often I'd still make a trip to try it out... but alas.. Jim was no longer there and much more of a problem was that.. the Louisiana Red Hot was no longer spicy and hardly had any flavor.  This continued for next few years.  Booo!

I was about to give up but alas, this past visit, the red hot had returned to it's former glory.  :-)  For the most part... and this made me happy.  Tried out the elk as well and found myself liking this sausage a little more than I used to (just had a little better flavor and texture).

Anyway, I am glad these two spicy sausages are back to being tasty again and I will certainly be back too! :-)

    Service?  No complaints

    This place does two things.

It kicks ass and takes names.

It is arguably the best dog in America, and I don't put that lightly.

I'd seen this truck parked on shady Saturday nights serving even shadier drunken yuppies downtown. It always smelled amazing but when you're drunk / high / hungry / 2am, anything is edible so I passed. I finally tried them at a JLSF event after meeting Jim himself - such a friendly, talkative guy! When I told him about the downtown Saturday nights he kind of smirked and alluded to juicy stories and tips. Honest man.

Try the Elk Jalapeno, my favorite and everyone else's, followed by the Linguisa. Trust the recommendation for cream cheese and caramelized onions. If there is space, fried Mac&Cheese for dessert. And whether you try the restaurant, truck or street cart, running into Jim will just top the experience.

I LOVE Biker Jim's sausages.  While I gave the restaurant 4 stars, I give the food truck (and the food in general) 5 enthusiastic stars.  My dad is a hunter, so I grew up eating elk and pheasant more frequently than beef and chicken.  My father doesn't hunt as much anymore, so I am always looking for a place to fill my wild game cravings.

I recently ate at the Biker Jim's food truck at the Denver County Fair.  Typically, I go for the elk brat, but this time, I ordered a rattlesnake and pheasant sausage with cream cheese and caramelized onion.

The combination of rattlesnake and pheasant is simply brilliant.  The rich pheasant compliments the delicate rattlesnake beautifully; singing in an angelic smoky, sweet voice.  The cream cheese and caramelized were the perfect toppings to this dog.

I've eaten a lot of pheasant and a little rattlesnake, but this is the best way that I've eaten either of these meats (sorry, Mom-your cooking is still the best, though).

For those of you who typically order the elk, give the rattlesnake and pheasant a try.  You won't regret it...

After reading the reviews, it was hard not to get excited about this place. I walked over from the convention center for a weekday lunch with a friend. Not surprisingly, there was a bit of a wait, but in perfect weather with friendly staff, this was fine.

We both went for the Elk Jalapeno Cheddar Dog as recommended by so many reviews. I asked for onions and cream cheese as suggested, added some sauerkraut and a pickle and off I went to enjoy what was probably the heartiest dog I've ever had. It was a nice lunch option.

The following was a bit weird and while I appreciate that the staff was trying to be helpful, we were offered a copy of someone else's credit card receipt when we asked for a receipt after having paid cash. This seemed bizarre. So fyi, if you pay with cash, you won't get a receipt. And if you pay with a credit card, someone else may end up with your receipt.

My friend and I happened upon this place by accident and it was unreal. The girl at the counter taking orders was so darn friendly and helpfulm when she found out that we had never been there before she said "oh boy! Virgins!" just what you want to hear from a tattooed girl behind the counter... I kid, she was awesome as I said.

We got the deep fried Mac and cheese, holy moly on a stick, amazing! Definitely get it. I had the jalapeño elk. I'm not one for spicy but it was damn good. The cream cheese topping made me nervous, but just another great suggestion from the server. If you stick to 1 topping and drink the price isn't bad considering you're getting a gourmet dog.

So many choices also make this place great. I can't wait to go back and try the duck and rattle snake!

5-star worthy? Possibly but I only had 2 visits and want to try a few more.

Whoa! Definitely a must try on the streets of Denver. Across the street from the Federal building, it's a great cart to enjoy some hot dogs (or maybe just 1). Good, hearty size hot dog. Creme cheese & caramelized onions are a good additional touch.

Walking up, I told the girl "I'm a tourist. I'm in town today. you got 1 shot to impress me. what do you recommend?"

Making sure I had no allergies but enjoyed jalapeno, she told me I had to have the ELK, and boy I enjoyed every single bite of it. Make sure to have a drink cuz the spice might be bothersome plus the outside is hot coming fresh off the grill.

Had to stop by here on the way to the airport the next day and had one of their Wednesday specials.

May get busy during lunch time as it is easy to take the 16th street trolley and many business people trek down this way plus tourists and transients gather at the tables too.

Funny thing: Notice that the creme cheese is sprayed on using a caulk gun!?!

Biker Jim's is a foodie's delight. Though Biker Jim's was at the top of the list in terms of Yelp review ratings, I had not tried it until today. I will most definitely return.

I asked the gentleman maning the grill what he recommended for a first timer. "Elk-Jalapeño-Cheddar" was his instant reply. "It's a gateway brat that leads to the heavier stuff." I was a little worried about the spiciness factor, but took his recommendation. A nice lady took my credit card. I got "The Usual" which includes a dog (all dogs are $5.00), chips $1.00 and soda/water $1.00.

After I paid I got a little confused. There were people milling about and the grillman was shouting out orders. Do I jump in when I hear my order? No. Apparently there is a second "pick up line" you queue up in. Orders come off the grill in order (of course they do).  That wasn't clear to the "first timer". The regulars put me in line. I listened and watched the regulars work toppings and condiments. I asked the grillman for "everything". For Elk-Jalapeño-Cheddar that means cream cheese and caramelized onions. OK, no other toppings required for that one!

It was delicious. Just the right amount of pepper spice and the caramelized onions gave it a sweet finish. Next time I'm going for "the heavier stuff". Maybe the wild boar. Sounds like a trip.

Wild boar, you say? In a bun?  To which I say, OINK.

    Translation:  I devoured my dog.

I had heard of this place ever since joining Yelp, and I see it all the time in the top 10 lists, so when I wanted to come up with an experiential gift for my dad this Father's Day - whose name also happens to be Jim - this was my go-to solution.  I had enough faith in the Yelp institution to know we'd enjoy the food at minimum.

First of all, if you've never been here, go by the website for the address.  Apparently there's a cart that stations at 1000 Larimer St. (by Tivoli), and that's what Google shows for the location of Biker Jim's.  While it's somewhat accurate, it wasn't conducive to me finding the restaurant on our first try last night.  No worries, we just hopped back in the car and headed 11 blocks east.

The interior reminds me of a Chipotle a bit - corrugated steel, industrial ambience, indie music.  They have both indoor and patio seating (less of the latter).

I opted for the Wild Boar dog (I couldn't resist) and when topped with carmelized onions and cream cheese... Oh.Meh.Gah.  I also got a side of their baked beans and enjoyed a lemonade, and then their quasi-natural diet soda (both were good too).

Kids both got the Mac & Cheese dog, which my husband ate most of - they weren't in the mood for hot dogs, apparently, but devoured the fries.

My stepmom and dad both enjoyed their meals, and based on the spiciness of her hot dog and the presence of sriracha sauce as a condiment, all other three adults gave a vehement thumbs up!

We went at about 5:30 on a non-game-day Sunday, and that got us in before the dinner rush started.  We'll definitely go back!

This place is the shiznit with a capital shiz.

When you think about places to get great dogs, I doubt Denver comes to mind. But you won't find any place in New York or Chicago that compares with Biker Jim's. I like a Sabrett's as much as the next guy. But if I want Alaskan Reindeer with cream cheese and carmelized onions, that shit ain't on the menu.

Some places think just because they offer something weird, they automatically win the cool award. Biker Jim's takes that ball and runs it into the end zone, out the back of the end zone, into the parking lot, through the woods, past grandma's house, up Pike's Peak, and back down again.

Not only does Biker Jim's have the most unusual sausage dogs you ever ate, they are also the best. Cream cheese from a caulking gun. Grilled onions. Perfectly grilled meat. Excellent buns. You won't find better. Anywhere.

I really love the food at Biker Jim's.  A couple weeks ago I had the Azteca at the Justice League food truck event.  It was a wild boar sausage with smoked poblano corn salsa and a chile lime mayo.  It was very good.  I also think the new food truck looks very cool.

But, last Saturday I was at the old Biker Jim's cart on the 16th street mall.  I went with my standard Alaska Reindeer Sausage.  It was juicy, flavorful, and disappeared down my gullet all too quickly.  My friend's son was with us, and Biker Jim had a treat for him.  He had an all beef hot dog stuffed with macaroni and cheese.  It was the perfect "kid hot dog" (actually two dogs on one bun).  I snuck a couple bites when a certain someone went to get a bag of chips, and it was a very tasty dog.

It is hard to go wrong with Biker Jim's, and the reputation of his food is well deserved.

Biker Jim's is an easy go-to for me when it comes to a lunch out from the office.  The cart is just a few blocks away from my office and on a nice day, who wouldn't want a yummy sausage and some sun!

I love the Elk Cheddar Jalapeno and the Southwestern Buffalo.  I've also tried the Wild Boar, the Lousiana Red Hot and one other that I can't remember.  But the Elk and the Buffalo are usually what I choose.  I always add the onions and the cream cheese when the man behind the grill asks.  Then, I add some jalapenos from the condiment bar for even more kick.

The only thing I will say is sometimes the gal running the money show is a bit surly.  Understandably. People have a hard time staying organized in any kind of semblance of a line, which is key as the dogs come off the grill, but I feel like my sausage would taste *that* much better when served with a smile.  The grill guys are always great, quick and friendly, though.

I think I just had high standards coming in because of all the 5 star reviews.

Biker Jim's is an awesome, rustic joint with good service (the poor cashier had to explain 5 different beers to my friend before she picked one).  But the dogs weren't all they were cracked up to be!

We came with a group of 8 and ordered everything!  All different dogs, fries, fried green tomatoes, fried mac n cheese, and cauliflower and nothing really stood out.

I'm not sure what all the hype was about, but maybe we came on an off night?  Sorry Biker Jim...
