Recently, each month they have been doing a "secret" comedy show. It makes for a great date night. The show is free and lasts a couple hours. You get dinner and a show all in one. The grilled cheese sammys are always a treat.

This place gets super packed on the weekend. Almost too crowded since it's such a small venue. I prefer to go on week nights, when I can actually sit down.

They always have really good DJ's, and if it isn't too crowded, you can sometimes make a small dance floor in front of the DJ booth. Otherwise, there is no dance floor here, if you're looking for one.

Once the bouncer told me I could not come in because I was wearing open toed thong sandals. He ended up letting me in, but i'm not sure if this is still an issue...

The drinks are around $12 each. There is no parking lot, only street parking. No cover charge to get in.

Awesome vibe and great drinks!  My boyfriend was very skeptical the first time I dragged him here because the entrance is very misleading.  But that is what makes it fun, and since then, he has been the one dragging me here!  Haven't gotten around to trying the grilled cheese but it looks yummy.  Cocktails aren't cheap but then again, most drinks in LA aren't.

Pretty cool little speakeasy on the westside. First time I went there was no bouncer (I guess we went a but early) and it was difficult trying to figure out how to get in. You actually have to walk through the barbershop and into the back door. Also there's no sign. Just the barber pole outside

Anyhow, the drinks here are great with my favorite being the smoke and dagger but be prepared...it's pretty spicy. The grilled cheese sandwiches are also good. You won't go wrong with any of them. All street parking but its usually not bad since there's not much else open around it.

Great atmosphere and tasty grilled cheese!! A bit on the pricey side but this place is so "LA" that it's a great place to bring visitors. Trust me, you will shock your out of town friends with this place's "coolness". Then by the transitive property they will think that YOU are cool...enjoy that, you're welcome haha.

The fact that you have to walk through a barber shop to get to the bar is awesome. Once you get through the barber job, you enter the bar area which is dimly lit making it a very intimate environment. I went on a Friday night, and the wait was not long at all which was a huge plus.

They play dancing music, and even though there is not really a designated dance floor there is a small area in which people can dance.

Blind Barber is a very fun place to hang out with friends. I will definitely be going back there :)

Really cool vibe, and unlike anything I've ever experienced. I arrived with my group early on Friday night, since we had never been here and wanted to make sure we could find the place ok. Once you enter through the unlocked, old barber shop you go through a hall way and enter a hip, jazzy speak-easy.

The ambiance was awesome. At 9:30 on a Saturday it was decently packed, but we were able to get a table anyways. Their menus looked pretty cool, with a ton of gourmet-grilled cheeses to order and other snacks and specialty drinks. Our crowd pretty much stuck with the basics though, no food, and some well drinks. Our waitress was friendly enough, but seemed concerned that someone at our table ordered through the bartender instead of her. We stayed for about an hour or so, we then gave up our table to another group who was eagerly awaiting (it had gotten pretty packed at this point).

My issue with this place is pretty straightforward: it's too damn expensive. $14 for a vodka redbull?! That is beyond even Vegas prices. All their beers were $7+ and a well vodka soda was $9. While it was an awesome place to hang out, I don't think I would go back unless I had already been drinking. It's just not worth it.

I cannot eat Jalapenos. They burn too much. Somehow I can drink them in the 'Bad Boy' - whiskey, strawberry, jalapeno = one good time!

Add a super yummy grilled cheese - rivals the Grilled Cheese Truck - some great music - and your night is perfect.

    See you there!

Go straight in the barbershop, to the door that holds the coats, open it, and ALAS you are at the blind barber.

Happy hours/weekdays are more chill. There will be places to sit. Dim lighting. Mixologists giving you attention when you want it. I've came on a Friday night and it's definitely more crowded- more of a stand up and talk to your friends while enjoying good drinks sort of place. It's not a place to meet new people, as people usually go with their group to chill with friends. Great for a chill night... not a night where you wanna go HAM.

If you're there to eat as well, get their grilled cheese. ANY and all- you cannot go wrong with the selection. One day, I was feeling adventurous and got their homemade Caesar salad. Not a good choice. Tasted like a normal Caesar salad, and gave me bad anchovy breath. Skip on this!

I'm not a big fan of popcorn and snacks, but when I'm not sure what to order I like to go with the suggestions of the people working there. My first time there, the mixologist suggest the truffle popcorn. Not a big fan of both truffle and popcorn, I reluctantly shared this with my friend. It was so addicting. We both could not get our hands out of that bag. It was light, yet enough flavor that made us want more. I recommend this!

For the drinks, don't be afraid to experiment. I always go with the drink of the week during Happy Hour because it's only $8, but if you don't see a drink on the menu that tickles your fancy, throw out a suggestion or a name and they'll make it for you. Skilled mixologists in the house!!

Super chill spot to drink and hang with friends. Add delicious cocktails and grilled cheese sandwiches to the mix and as Marshawn best put it, "uh oh, could be trouble!"

As far as speakeasies go, Blind Barber doesn't have (nose up, pinkies up) the ambiance or décor to compete with say, The Varnish or The Edison (DTLA REPRESENT!!!), but it more than makes up for that with good drinks and good eats.

I had one of the best cocktails I've EVER had here. Top 3 motherfather, for show. The name escapes me now, but I know it wasn't the Smoke & Dagger nor the Sante Fe. In fact, I don't even see it on the online menu, but it was dangerously tasty. It was made with tequila, some other stuff, it was spicy, and was garnished with a slice of pineapple. If you are a manager at this fine establishment and you are reading this, PLEASE KEEP THIS BAD BOY ON THE MENU!

Ordered the #4 (pepper jack, habanero, jalapeno, thai chilies, artisan table bread) and thought it was pretty good. My taste buds at this point were destroyed, so take this with a grain of salt. I liked the dip (whatever it was) and thought the lemony kale side salad was scrumptious. I gobbled that shit up.

Thanks Trevor and Angela D. for recommending this place... let's go again soon!

    THIS IS FOR THE BAR...

This place isn't bad. The bar is stocked with all type of goodness, and the grilled cheese isn't bad. I was there about two weeks ago, and the music was on point, but it was extremely loud, which isn't unusual at a bar, but it seemed to be out of place in this particular bar. I don't know...sometimes you feel something in your gut, and you can't place your finger on it...

So anyway...this place by no means SUCKS. I'd definitely pre-game here before heading somewhere else. Make sure you have on the proper attire. They're more or less sticklers for their dress code.

This is the only bar in the world with Macallan 14.5.

We ordered two Macallan 18s and the bartender gave us a concoction of 1 part Macallan 18 year and 4 parts Macallan 12 since they ran out of 18. They charged us for a 2 full 18's thinking we wouldn't notice them top our glasses off with the 12 year. WTF

Really cool place through a door in a real barber shop in an otherwise unassuming location.  The beer selection is relatively small but good enough.  The mixed drinks all looked pretty good.  The ambiance is busy.  My one complaint is that it gets very loud.  Despite the fact that the bar didn't seem that crowded (it was easy to maneuver from one side to the other), I still had to shout and lean in to talk to people.  I ended up ordering lots of water because my throat was so dry.

I could see myself hanging here a lot, it reminds me of San Francisco. The entrance is through the barbershop giving you the unique speakeasy feel. The mixologist is talented whipping up the tastiest cocktails.

What a cool spot... somebody showed me this spot and I was confused because when I first drove here it was like a Best Buy and nothing.  What was he talking about?  You apparently walk through a barbershop and head to the back.. that's awesome.   The bar is like six times the size of this barbershop.

This place mixes up fantastic drinks.. although they won't run you cheap.. and I ran into the bartender that made me drinks at Manhattan Beach Post just a few months ago (he used to live in NYC so he's legit).  Dark speakeasy bar.. also tried their grill cheese.  I am not a huge fan of it but it tasted pretty good.. the salad was just okay.

Definitely a spot that reminds you of Varnish downtown.  Good job Culver City.. and you're so much closer to me so I even like you more.

This is clearly the most ghetto bar on the west side. No wonder it is east of the 405. Wow. Miserable fail.

Had a whiskey and got the best haircut of the past 20 years, and I'm a grow-my-hair-out-for-six-months-or-two-years kinda guy, and I've taken the opportunity to try many barbers over that span of time. Great spot and easy place to be for a while. Fantastic craftsmanship with the drink and cut. Thanks, fellas!

REVIEW OF THE BAR (not barber shop):

Note, the bar is in the same entrance, albeit through the door "hidden" in the wall.

Craft cocktails - very well made cocktails. As busy as they were, the bartenders were very helpful and would give us samples of cocktails for us to try.

We visited the Blind Barber on a busy Saturday night but didn't have a problem getting drinks and got lucky finding a table for two.

Dress attire: stick to your hipster gear and you'll be fine.

Their food smelled (and looked) delicious; we'll have to try the food next time.

Street parking (usually not a problem in the area).

A nostalgic retro throwback to the faux-speakeasies of 2008. This bar combines cocktail culture with bro culture in the most unappealing of ways.

Maybe it's ok on like a Tuesday at 7:00? By 9:30 on a Thursday it was already gross. Maybe some cocktails are good; I only had one - which was not good - and then sought an exit.

Enter through the barber shop. It gave me a creepy Saw vibe at night with the red candles and old vibe.
Once you step inside the bar, it's pretty low key and chill.
Tried the menu drinks and was not disappointed.
Also had the grilled cheese sammich I forgot which one.
But it was worth it. Yummy.
I wouldnt get the hot one unless you really like spicy food.
    Bartenders, servers were nice.
    Parking on the street.

This would be 5-stars, but it took three days to get a response via e-mail to my reservation request.

Once they sort out the reservation system, it'll be perfect.

*strange request, but maybe add some sound dampening panels that hang from the ceiling? It seems like the type of bar that should be much quieter than it tends to get in there.

Now don't be scared to walk through the barber shop looking for the bar! Haha my friend kept asking, "Are you sure this is the right place?" and then even asked the guy in the barber shop, "Um do you sell drinks?" The guy didn't look phased and just pointed to the door with the coats.

Go through the door with the coats hanging and be surprised by the cool hidden bar area! It's a cool concept, and the atmosphere is really chill and hip. We sat at a little table instead of the bar, and a worker immediately came to us with menus. This place is a little pricy, but they have a pretty good happy hour. The Blind Barber has some neat cocktails, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, and other little snacks. They also have some specials, and my friends and I all got their cocktail special for the day which tasted amazing! Like an alcoholic lemonade... Put a little smile on all of our faces.

One of my friends also ordered the truffle popcorn which she said is a must try! I was surprised because I loved it and didn't find it was too buttery tasting like most other truffle items I've tasted. It's a perfect snack to munch on and share with a group as you're enjoying your cocktails. The bartenders are super attentive but at the same time, they don't pressure you to keep spending money or leave. It's different from your average bar and perfect for every occasion when you want alcohol and some good foodie action. Whether you're dressed up trying to have a classy night out or just dressed casually and simply want a drink!

I cannot help but love the Blind Barber. It's in my yuppy blood. Some hipster places are just hip, but this has great cocktails with bartenders who will dream up new things for you to try if you like. They also have great grilled cheese sandwiches, which hit the spot both during happy hour and late at night.

Sure, it's an exciting and cutesy concept: modern day speakeasy. But I must admit it is magical to join your friend who is getting his haircut and at 6 pm walk into the darkened back bar and eat and drink and sometimes dance.

    2 great Blind Barber memories:

       1) coming here in formal wear covered in corsages and boutonnieres after chaperoning a high school prom and brushing elbows with flanneled men with beards on the dancefloor.
       2) riding my bike up to the barbershop storefront, waving to my friends, and crashing into the storefront. Everyone laughed, and the bouncer man outside was very nice and said he'd watch over my bike I locked to a meter.

    Downsides?
    - pricey. But good cocktails are worth it for one great drink.
    - seriously dark
    - seriously loud. Don't expect to have a conversation after 7:30 pm.

I will admit that I am being a bit generous with four stars, but throughout the two hours or so of my visit, the place really grew on me. Besides, how often do you get to walk into a barbershop with actual customers, walk past the hairdressers, open a door which looks like an entryway to a walk-in closet and then somehow end up in a bar?

The bar area itself is actually quite large. The place is a tad loud from the emptiness on the walls and the loud music - sound really carries. Overall atmosphere of the place is actually nice, dimmed lights, large booths and pretty good crowd even for a Monday night. Speaking of the crowd, for some reason there seemed to have been way too many people on first dates - you can tell they're on their first date. You know you can.

If the barber upfront is blind, then the cook in the back definitely has a third eye. The menu is quite simple, but with a twist and is very satisfying. Grilled sandwiches for anyone with anything and everything imaginable. Well cooked and done right. I suggest coming in for happy hour and taking advantage of the cheap drinks so you can spend more on munchies. Speaking of drinks, the specialty old world cocktails and the wine/beer selection is quite descent. Just pick your favorite liquor and try a cocktail with it. Of course if you are not that adventurous, they do have a full bar and will create any variation of a Cosmo or Tequila Sunrise you can conjure up.

The place is definitely understaffed and under-managed, but they are trying hard and I'll give them that. Nice little hidden spot which is worth checking out.

    8PM, Thursday Night

The week called for a little somethin' somethin'. A message was passed and the location became known.  I didn't know what I would expect that night, but "extraordinary" lingered in the air. "Look for the barbershop pole," I was told.

I stepped into the clear, cool night. Accessible off of Washington Blvd, on the same complex as Best Buy, I found my noted beacon.

It was a small barbershop. 2-4 seats. I wasn't paying attention. I was too busy assessing the situation. This does not look like a bar to me.  My eyes darted around. Where is the in-route? I failed my first test already.

"Do you have an appointment?" asked the barber, as he swept hair off the floor. "Is there a correct secret answer?" I thought to myself. Being slick won't help you now, kid. "No, I don't,"  I said, as I continued to linger by the door, eyes finally coming to rest onto a shiny barber seat.

"What can I help you with?" he continued to ask. That sounds innocent enough, but his wiley ways pulled the answer from me as I sheepishly blurted out, "I'm looking for a bar?!"

He laughs. This wasn't the first time this has happened. "Over there," he says as he points to an unassuming door with an attached coat rack. It was here that I entered into a dark, seductive world full of amazingly mixed drinks (mule) and equally delicious grilled cheese sandwiches (#3).  Hidden and comforting. The company was eclectic; the conversation flowed. This was not a place for dancing (music was OK) or flaunting. It is a place to come to for the simple pleasures of drink (and the occasional grilled cheese sandwich).

This place I like ... A lot! So much so that I am almost ready to give it 5 stars. I love how bloody nice the bartenders are, their super attentive and non pretentious.
The cocktail menu kicks ass. The grilled cheese sandwich selection looks off the rector! Wow I need get me a sango next time.
The interior is awesome, old school black & white check floor, dim lighting, leather tufted seating against the walls.
Music is hit or miss but the vibe makes up for it.

Great idea for a dive bar. I was so excited try this place, drinks looked good, food looked appetizing and the vibe wrapped it all up. Then I showed up to a line running out the door. That didn't dissuade me and so my friends and I waited. We entered into a packed club like atmosphere which I am ok with but definitely doesn't fit the "dive bar scene".

My second visit was a much better experience because I didn't feel like a sardine. Had a couple of their cocktails one of which was extremely spicy but well worth it. I love the eerie entrance more than the interior of the bar. Highly recommend trying this place out on an off peak night. I think its a much better experience.

Getting drunk, at a barber shop..... Whhhaaaaat!?

Blind Barber is going for that throwback speakeasy vibe and I have to say, they have a good thing going. The place is unmarked, except for one guy just kind of hanging around the entry to a barber shop. That would be your door guy. He lets you in and you cruise through a dark and empty barber shop so you can head to... the closet? It looks like a closet but as soon as you pop that door open you find yourself in a hallway, leading to the bar hidden in the back.

    My drinks of the night:

Batman - Plymouth Gin / St Germaine / peychauds bitters / lemon/ mint
Smoke & Dagger - Jack Daniels / jalapeno infused cointreau / cucumber / ginger / lemon

The mixologists do a fine job knocking out quality drinks, even when the place is packed. Very tasty cocktails. Nice and dim back there too, as a speakeasy should be. The two nights I've been by they had a DJ kicking some party music which was perfect for the inebriated dance floor.

I can't promise that this will be my favorite bar for the next two decades, but sometimes it's nice to spice it up a bit. What Blind Barber does they do it well, and for now I'm amused by the fact I have to creep into a place to get my drink on. It's a nice contrast to the overly flamboyant bars seen around LA.

Give it a shot, it gives you a little glimpse into what folks back in the 1920s had to go through to get a buzz. Toast a glass to them for going through the dry times so that we don't have to.

Went here a few weeks ago with a friend. We stopped in for drinks and didn't try the food. Perhaps next time...

The concept is fun and when we arrive the barber shop area was already closed but you could still hear the music and people inside. The dj was playing songs off her laptop(? - not turntables?) but I didn't mind because I liked what she was playing (that day it was late 90's hip-hop) and if I hadn't seen the laptop and no turntables I still would have thought there were. She was good.

The bartenders were polite, quick, and attentive despite the place being busy so I have no real complaints about service either.

The only thing that struck me as odd was how the whole place felt more like a make shift venue or even a set instead of a real bar/speak easy. I'm not an interior decorator but it all felt like it was just thrown together with stuff they could find. Still, that doesn't stop one from having a good time. There were people attempting to dance but the space didn't really allow for it.

Overall, it was, "aw-ight." I was pleased with the music selection most of all. Might come back for a happy hour snack and drink.

It's that place you stop at before going to the next place.

When was the last time your cocktail felt like it came from a place of craft and care? If you're over boring redbull and vodkas and crave a cocktail that is made with love from a historical era of prohibition and cultivation, Blind Barber might be your place.

Know your mixologist: ask for Sean and expect to be treated as a neighborhood friend. Soon, you'll be re-enacting a scene from Cheers where everybody knows your name. If it's not super busy, be prepared for a mixology lesson as he works with your tastes to determine the perfect cocktail for your unique liking.

Ease your hangover and order some food. My favorite is the truffle popcorn, kale salad and tomato soup. You will not be disappointed.

Warning: amazing music and extremely cool people have been spotted here.

I almost don't want to review this place because I don't want people to come here :) I'm a little selfish like that! This place is hidden in the back of a working barbershop and there is no sign stating it's a bar out front. The bar itself is dimly lit and fairly small. The The happy hour is decent and the mix drinks are highly priced at around $14 a pop.

I guess the reason why I like this speakeasy lounge is because it's a speakeasy! I feel like batman going to his bat cave when I walk through the barbershop into the bar.

Came here just to try a different scene, and boy was it different. I was able to find street parking here, and the actual bar is behind the barber shop in the front so if you come early enough, look for the bouncer out front. We were escorted around back and it was a pretty swanky scene - improvised dance floor, long bar, and plenty of people. The special drinks were a bit on the expensive side, but my strawberry drink was delicious! My friend tried the blackjack which wasn't bad. The bathroom situation was a bit confusing - I didn't know which one was the ladies' room so I followed the girl in front of me. There is a unisex sink area outside both bathrooms so people were mingling here as well.

I'd want to rate this place higher, but on the night I went, the bartender had tried some flaming-bottle trick at the bar, which left some people with splashed alcohol on them, and I swear there was the aroma of burnt hair in the air afterwards. In terms of safety, probably not the best idea, but damn that was a show though! I'll probably come back on a different night to check out the speakeasies.

Hey, this place is awesome. We need more double-service places in LA. If there's one thing I like more than good service and good drinks, it's both together in an efficient manner.

I like to think of this as an excellent hair/beard trim subsidized with a cocktail. And it is no meager subsidy. The drinks are excellent, and there's a wonderful variety to choose from. I am somewhat sad that they don't have the hot buttered rum during winter in LA (they have it on the NY menu), but hey, the Cowboy, the Seriously Dangerous, and the Smoke and Dagger more than make up for it! The food looks great too, but I've not been hungry every time I've gone. I've noshed on the smoked almonds, and they were tasty. The bar in the back is swanky and I'd return just for the bar. It looks great for groups too because there are some very large booths.

I've had two barber services here - the straight razor shave and a beard/hair trim. The first was enjoyable, but I honestly prefer to shave myself with my double-safety Merkur razor and Feather blades (highly recommended if you have tough facial hair, though you want to do the oil beforehand and use the right cream too, which is more a matter of personal preference).

The trim and haircut was just what I needed though, and I plan to return for it. I'm not terribly good at choosing where to start and end a beard, so having some supervision helps, and the hair trim is done extremely well. The barbers here take their time and seem to take pride in their work.

FYI, I had Alex cut my hair, and he does great work. Nice guy, too.

This review is for the "bar" in the back.

This place was a MAJOR let down for me.

I had heard REALLY good things about this place. Everyone said how cool, trendy, and fun it was. I was extremely disappointed.

As we arrived, the bouncer said I couldn't wear my hoodie into the bar. "We have a dress code" he exclaimed. He also wouldn't let my friend wear his hat either. He said we could drop them off in the closet before entering the bar area. HA HA, yeah right.

After we got ID'd, some pink-haird guy comes running out, "THERE ARE TOO MANY DUDES IN HERE" -he callously says to the bouncer. Apparently, this clown works at Blind Barber and was in charge of crowd control. After seeing this guy, the dress code must have been "douchey."

This should have been an immediate red flag for me...but, I still wanted to check this place out. He also yelled at me for not dressing up. Who does that?

FINALLY....we get let in to the bar area. The place was a 1/4 full. This was a Friday night at 11:45. Wow, must be a super cool spot, pink hair guy.

Luckily, the bartenders were cool. The guy I had was quick, nice, and knowledgeable. We ordered a couple of shots and drinks and pretty much chilled the whole night. The crowd was very uptight and hipster.

Drinks weren't outrageous, but it was no 99 Cent Store.

The atmosphere is excellent and the idea is AWESOME - but this place lacks an inviting personality. Everyone was super smug, pretentious, and self-righteous.

I will definitely never go back to this place.

    PROS: Great atmosphere
    -Excellent concept
    -Good bartenders

    CONS: Almost everything
    -Awful staff
    -pretentious
    -Uninviting
    -Just disappointing

    See for yourself.

    Best,

    Sean

    Great idea.  Bad experience.

Advice: Get here early & order from the bar and you'll be ok.

Good for: Tasty drinks and mingling.
Bad for: Table service and dancing.

Don't waste your time on table service.

Honestly, our waitress was terrible.  Service was poor from beginning (10pm)  to end (1am).  She obviously doesn't have previous experience with  table service.  She seemed distressed from the get go, or maybe she just doesn't enjoy her job. There were only 5 in our party and 3 tables max in the building.  We could have done without her attitude.  Most of the night we didn't know where she was and we were constantly getting up to find her so we could ask her for another round of drinks.  Once we found her she had attitude and seemed displeased with having to get us drinks.  And by no means are we highly demanding super drinkers downing a round every 15 minutes.

Bartenders however, were super happy and seemed to really love what they do.  My only advice to them is please be aware of being consistent with drinks.

Our 1st round of drinks were incredibly tasty.  2nd round (same drinks) ...were terrible, tasted like pickle juice.  I am not sure if they made the drinks less strong and without the appropriate ingredients because they were too busy or because they expected us to be too drunk to notice.  But we noticed, and we sent our specialty drinks back.

Truth is, I wanted to have my birthday here. I am sad to say that after  my experience I have decided to take my party elsewhere.

There are too many whiskey bars & more speak easy's than you'd realize in L.A. to not be above the competition. So, though I wanted to love this place I can say that I prefer to take my business elsewhere.

I love how this place is a speakeasy! So cool! I would've never known about it!

Came here Friday night around 12:30AM and the place wasn't too crowded, which I liked. Though all the booths were full, we quickly found a seat in the back. The drinks are good - I especially liked the strawberry fields and that was the only drink I ordered...and 2 was more than enough for me as I was buzzin at the moment.

It wasn't too loud in there and I would definitely come back here again. The bartenders were really friendly too.

Disclaimer: I'm still drunk from the 2 drinks I had there tonight (yes, I'm a lightweight, and yes, they pour a strong drink). So if I come off as excessively enthusiastic, it's the booze talking.

Awesome place!!! Thanks to yelp, I found out about this place this morning and I HAD to try it!!

Came here on a Thursday night at 7:30 and awkwardly walked to the back door of the barber shop.  The barbers gave us a knowing smile. Walked through the door and found a super cool bar!

The bartenders (Mike and Greg) were very welcoming and made some great recommendations. I had the strawberry fields (which I could drink all night but at $12 a pop would not be cost effective) and the fiancé had the batman (which was the drink of the week - $8 during happy hour). Both drinks were excellent.

We also ordered a number 1 grilled cheese. Not as flavorful as I thought it would be but it was good! Came with chips and a very sour salad.

Then, we ordered a hustler (drink created by Mike). Spicy, strong, delicious.

We had a great time and felt super cool, but it was pricey for 3 drinks and a sandwich ($44). However, we will be back!

Had this been a regular bar, we probably would rate it as a 3 star place, but the speakeasy cool factor bumps it up another star!!!

Used to think this place was a real LA gem until recently. Great cocktails, cool atmosphere.

But I went this past weekend and was told by the new manager, I presume, that my husband (in dark jeans, clean sneakers, and a nice sweater) and I (in dark jeans, flats, a sweater and leather jacket) were not dressed for the dress code so we couldn't come in. After multiple back-and-forths, the manager clarified that the new "dress code" that he's brought from NY is no sneakers.

I don't know about everyone else, but part of why I love LA is how casual it all is. Now I wouldn't suggest that I should be able to roll in in sweatpants, but we were dressed the same way we've gone to some of the nicest restaurants in LA, so to be turned down from a bar that sits in between a Best Buy and Ralphs is just plain dumb. Any place that fancies itself that snobby in a city like LA is no longer my type of place, I can get good drinks elsewhere.

If there was ever a true speakeasy style bar in L.A., it would be the Blind Barber. Yeah, that's right - I said Barber. There certainly ain't no drinking involved in the front of the shop, as it's a working barbershop. You know, the type you can get a shave and a haircut for two bits from?

Though the two bits may not be enough for the haircut. But listen rummy, this is where you pinch the hooch. This is where some blind tiger has been jerking the suds on the side.

Here I am as last call is about to be run at 2am on Repeal day and I say that this is probably one of the best REAL speakeasy's around. It does have the whole feel that you would get with the secret password and the hidden door to a back room that isn't very big, but does pack a punch when it comes to the drinks.

If you come here too late, yeah, you'll be dealing with a large crowd and little elbow room, but that's the case in most any bar in L.A. How about you not get out the door after 10pm and enjoy the most of your night.

The prices are on the cheaper side, but then again, that's often the case when it comes to Culver City drinking - minus a few exceptions. So really, the only downside is the crowds and hey, isn't the saying that you don't want to eat in an empty restaurant? Apply that rule to bars and just get here earlier than you would or on the weeknights. You know, when the real alcoholics are out - none of this weekend warrior bullshit.

Well worth checking out as a true definition of what it was like during those prohibition days.

Whoa! If I had not seen people waiting outside I would not have found this place lol

Parked across the street. Went inside into the "barbershop" and was then escorted to another door that led to the bar in the back.

Low lighting, great crowd, stiff drinks, good music (lil mix of everything), will definitely come back again.
