Very disappointing with the food and services. We had a party there on Sunday, May 5th for seven people. The service was not good, in addition, two people had got a food poisoning. I called to the restaurant, and was told that the manager will contact me.  ...Still waiting for this call.  Obviously, the manager does not think that he needs to express at least his apologies.  I would not go to this restaurant again under any circumstantial  and would not recommend it to anyone.

We have found our favorite fish restaurant and it's Bonefish in Skokie! Tonight was our first visit and they did not disappoint. We made our reservations online, as simple as could be. The hostess was warm and welcoming, I'm sorry I didn't get her name.
Our server was Gabrielle and she was a sweetheart. Since we were first timers, she made some menu suggestions that served us well. The service was impeccable.
Don't pass up the Bang Bang Shrimp. I had the Ahi Tuna and my wife opted for Talapia with Mango Salsa. Both were delicious. We shared the Strawberry Shortcake for desert, more than enough for two.
The only downside for the evening was that the bartender doesn't know how to make a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned. I think we wound up with Southern Comfort Manhattan's on-the-rocks... close, but no cigar. Still, I hesitate to deduct a full star because everything else was superb. so deduct just a 1/2 star for that.
We went there on a Saturday and were greeted by the snottiest most unwelcoming short blonde hostess! She is the only reason this does not get 5 stars!! We sat at the bar where two bartenders; Mike and Greg were so welcoming and helpful and made it so that we really enjoyed our time! The food was AMAZING and it came out within ten minutes and worth the price! The wait was 90 minutes so plan ahead and make reservations. We will definitely be returning and sitting at the bar!
Review Source:Waited much too long to review! Hooray for Skokie Bonefish.
Having gone again for oh... 20th time? I've got to give my four stars here.
Neat, cozy, low light interior - large bar area and dining with booths/tables. No fish smell, ever - so the fish really must be flown in daily?
Service is always great, friendly and thoughtful, even with such high turnover (why would that be? But back to subject).
The appetizers, we normally stick with BangBang Shrimp. It's a tremendous deal, so many on a bed of lettuce, the sauce adds just a little heat and sweetness. Â
Saucy shrimp are great too, so is the crab chowder.... Delectable, perfect winter soup.
Out of entrees, we NEVER had a bad one, or even ok one... Always good to excellent. Perch, Whitefish, Mahi, you name it.
Any preparation (ask for butter/sauce on the side, for healthier version).
Speaking of sides - very good mashed and au gratins.... Veggies are as well.
Many specials! We just had the $20 pp Mixed Grill Sampler, very good, loved all of it inclduing Salmon which I normally hate.
Another favorite is the Mac Brownie with ice-cream... huge, decadent. The rahspberry goop is a bit of overkill but it's oh so good still.
The cheaper well drinks can be weak - except the Parker Margarita, we love that.
I love Skokie Bonefish... the ambiance and some of food reminds me of Caribbean all-inclusives (the nicer ones, lol.... don't be spooked). Happy, relaxed feeling.
What I like the most about the place is the consistency.... You know exactly what you're getting.
And the price is more then fair. Solid choice in the NS burbs.
Service was good and the owner came over to welcome us which was a nice touch. The food was a little disappointing - I got the scallops which were pretty small and not cooked as well as I've had at other places; however, the prices are reasonable for a seafood place so I guess you get what you pay for. Overall it is a good place to meet up with friends and have a casual dinner if you are in the mood for seafood.
Review Source:I used to LOVE Bonefish, but unfortunately that's no longer the case! I believe the restaurant is under new management. The last time I was there, the server messed up my order twice and than billed me for something I didn't even buy. I also over heard one of the managers scolding one of their employees, which I thought was down right unprofessional to do in front of customers. I still love their bang bang shrimp specials on Wednesday, but overall BoneFish Grill, at least the location in Skokie, is not what it used to be...Make sure you ASK FOR BREAD- they only give you like 2 pieces which is only good if you're eating solo;-)
Review Source:Bonefish never disappoints, and is a life-saver when we've had to stay in Skokie.  The Bang  Bang shrimp are scrumptious -- moist, slightly crispy and Thai-like flavorful.  Ahi tuna, wonderful, perfectly prepared and served -- half portion is a decent sized dinner.
My husband had Lily's Chicken, which he loved - chicken served over spinach, with warmed goat cheese and an artichoke heart on top, served open on a bun.
Grilled salmon was just right. Salads are served with a balsamic dressing  (as good as I make ; - ) on mixed greens.
We always sit at the bar, which is friendly, not noisy. Â
Too bad Bonefish restaurants are always far from cities (at least in DC and Chicago). Â Somewhat pricey, as are the drinks -- excellent wine, btw -- but at least you're not getting ripped off.
I'm really torn about this review, whether it's a 2 or 3 star one.
For starters, I feel everything is really overpriced for what you get. Â While the corn chowder was delicious, $3.50 to add half a cup of soup to an entree seemed excessive to me. Â I had the fish and chips and I think they were $12 or so. Â They were not great at all. Â The ends were crispy delicious but the middles were soggy and mushy. Â Plus, I got three small pieces of fish with maybe two dozen french fries. Â Portions are really small. Â
My dude had the fish tacos and pronounced them "um ... ok...". Â Rave review. Â Some of the others at our table said that their food was not nearly as good as normal so maybe they were having an off day but... eh. Â
The service was super attentive and all but the food was not great. Â There's a billion better options out there.
So we went to bonefish Thursday night with a couple f friends to celebrate a birthday... Food was amazing... was bit disappointed by the service. Â
Food- We ordered the bang bang shrimp and thai coconut shrimp both really good! As my main meal i got fish and chips, also really good. So if you like seafood... I definitely recommend this place!
Experience- We waited about 30 minutes for our food.. then our waitress comes up to us and tells us she forgot to put our order in and so she just put it in.... So then we had to wait another 25 minutes.. basically we waited about an hour to get our food.. we were at the restaurant for 3 hours. RIDICULOUS. Luckily we ordered appetizers... so we weren't just sitting around waiting for our food. Needles to say... the birthday girl was pretty annoyed...because we were originally supposed to go to Bob Chin.. but we figured the wait there would've been pretty long.. and we were all starving. Bad idea... should've stuck to Bobchin.
Expectation: bustling dining room, solid fish, pleasant outing.
Experience: if the hostess' name was Aloof, that would've been fitting. No smile, no welcoming greeting, no nothing. Â She didn't particularly seem to know or care much about managing the bookings or the patrons waiting in line to check in or be buzzed.
Service and the warm ciabatta bread with pesto olive oil are the only reasons this review is not 1 star. Our waiter was pleasant, accommodating, and hard-working. We let him know we had movie tickets and were looking to be out the door by a certain time, and he gave the kitchen a heads up.
I ordered a special for dinner tonight, the imperial wolf fish stuffed with lump crab meat and shrimp. The fish was described similar to a chilean sea bass. It was salty and was not as good as expected. Bf felt like he could make the chicken marsala at home.
Had heard a lot about this place and looked forward to finally getting there. A friend and I grabbed dinner on Friday. It's a little dark for a non-romantic dinner, but would be a great date choice. Although we didn't have reservations, we were seated quickly. Good, fresh seafood and excellent, pleasant service! The corn chowder and lump crab soup was delicious. Although the waiter recommended the Kobe beef burger and the Sea Bass, my friend and I both opted for the shrimp and scallops which came with the chef's choice spaghetti squash and choice of side, all of which was delicious. Next time, it's the infamous bang-bang shrimp, which I've heard so much about, for me!
Review Source:We made reservations here on a whim, with very low expectations. Â We were very pleasantly surprised. Â The food was very good. Â Me and my daughters had the trout - very good. Â My wife really liked the shrimp and scallops and my son wiped out his salmon.
Service was very friendly (offered to split my daughter's meal for us - usually we need to do this ourselves).
Tried to make reservation for party of 10 at 5 PM on December 8, 2012. Â Manager requested we be out within 2 hours!!!!!!! Â Â Â Thanks anyway, Â will take our money and spend it at a restuarant that does not rush you out the door. Â Hello........ Maggianos, Rosebud, Weber grill................

Mediocre salads, sides and sauces. One of the worst Caesar salads I've ever had with bottled salty dressing, processed Parmesan, and a plateful of romaine ribs, not leaves. Disgusting.
Salsas are very goopy and sweet. Sides have little seasoning or flair. Mediocre creme brûlée was more like pudding with brown sugar crusted on top.
2 stars for grilled seafood done adequately. For similar price points, head 1/2 mile north to McCormick & Schmicks at Old Orchard mall.
yay! I finally tried the bang-bang shrimp and it was delicious!
Entree: Longfin Tilapia  stuffed with other seafood (shrimp, etc).  It was cooked perfectly with a creamy sauce that paired nicely with it.  I didn't care much for the "vegetables" on the side which were just carrots.  It was half raw/cooked.  I either like my carrots completely raw or completely cooked
sides:I recommend the potatoes au gratin!! delicious!
For the price? Very good quality food here. Had the tuna and part of someones mahi mahi. Both were delicious. I spent about 40 bucks here for the entree, appetizers and drinks. So price wasn't bad. If you are craving some quality seafood this is a great place. One of the better chain restaurants to go to.
Review Source:The food here was pretty good! Really nice atmosphere too! I had been hearing radio ads for the "Bang Bang Shrimp" (how can you forget that?) so I had been wanting to check it out! I have to say, overall I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the service! Nice to know there is another delicious option so close to home!
Review Source:I was surprised how good this place was. Â I normally try to avoid chains but this visit was a spur of the moment visit.
The shrimp appetizer was fantastic, one of the my favorite shrimp dishes ever. Â Our server was a nice guy and he was very responsive. Â We showed up at 9 pm and the location was mostly empty.
Ah-hem, Bang-Bang. If you go, you have to try. Try them by themselves or on tacos - just do it. Beyond Bang-Bang, these shrimp are cooked the same as the ones we get on the Volcano Shrimp Maki Roll at Butterfly Sushi in Chicago, the trick is in the spicy-cheese mayo.
I also have to highly recommend the Baja Tacos which will have me coming back again. We also so-much enjoyed the Crab Crusted Pompano which is pompano (a New Zealand fish) grilled then crusted with bread and dusted with crab and then baked. Sounds complicated, huh? Don't worry about it, they have it down to delectable science.
The only complaint, the ambiance. I felt like I was in a mini-mall (I was) in the suburbs (I was). C'mon Bonefish Grill, you have what it takes to make the Big City, just make the leap.

Bonefish Grill is my new place to go. Tried it for the first time today and fell absolutely in love. Â The Bang Bang Shrimp is too die for literally. Â Just enough kick to make it pop, but not to spicy. Â For the main course I had the lobster tails for $27. Â It was a great price in my opinion because you get two. Â They were so tender and delicious.
The server was excellent. Â He was so nice and catered to our every need. I would be back in a heartbeat.
I only went to Bonefish due to all the great reviews on yelp...which my visit can't really agree with. Â I really dont feel this place is as awesome as everyone describes, and its in a strip mall. Â When's the last time you had a SUPER restaurant be set up in a strip mall?
When I called to reserve a table, they asked for my first and LAST NAME. Â Do you want my SS# too? Â
This place reminds me of Olive Garden, in the sense that everything tastes pre-made and just reheated. Â We ordered the bang bang shrimp, and while the sauce was awesome, the shrimp tasted "fishy" and smelled a little. Â Either they were not fresh, or they were not washed. Â Not cool.
I ordered the grilled orange roughy with lobster, it tasted "meh" at best. Â I can make much better tasting fish at home, and I go out to taste something better...so was disappointed. Â Food arrived luke warm, but I didn't want to deal with sending it back and just it getting microwaved. Â The portions are small, and the place seems to be about $10/meal over priced for the quality you get.
I ordered some drinks too, they were pretty crappy. Â The bartender looked as if he thought he was a modern version of Elvis, and his ego couldn't allow him to re-think that possibly, just maybe, he sucked at what he did.
The waitress was attentive, she checked on us a couple times. Â But I'd still say skip this place. Â It's like an expensive decor on a McDonalds fish filet.
I always feel weird reviewing chain-restaurants. Â Like we all know what we're getting into at a Chilis, why review it, right?
So yes, Bonefish Grill is a chain, part of the Outback conglomeration, but there are only 3 in the whole state so that puts it with less locations than Portillos. Â It has kind of a nautical PF Chang's vibe -- low lighting, classy art adorning the space and -- what whimsy! -- metal fish adorn the revolving door! Â It is located between an Edwardo's Pizza and an Autozone which kind of dials down the atmosphere a bit.
The space inside, however, is really comfortable and the menu has enough on it to satisfy most tastes. Â My companion had doubts because he will not EVER eat fish, but there is a nice selection of non-piscine dishes for landlubbers. Â
The menu has a kind of  Red Lobster-y feel to it, complete with tiny menu with "Seasonal Favorites" and I was worried the quality would be on par.  Surprisingly, the dishes had more character to them than RL and the vibe was a little more Lakeview and a lot less Western Suburbs.  I had the Wolf-fish Rockefellar that was pretty tasty.  My companion had the Steak and crabcakes -- the steak was cooked pretty well and the crabcakes had a nice, zesty remoulade.  There was a rather extensive cocktail list as well with some seasonal outings that was a nice touch.
All in all, it came out to about 70 dollars for the both of us which isn't too bad. Â Most of the tables were either birthdays or middle aged families so it's definitely not the hippest place on the block (well, it is Skokie so maybe it is), but it's a perfectly fine place to go if you live on the far north side looking for a nice weeknight dinner.
This place is great!
Every bit of food I ordered or tried was great. We had a party of 7 including a baby. I ordered the beef dumplings as an appetizer and they were kinda awesome. I had the fish tacos for an entree and they were sooo good! Big chunks of delicious fish. I also got to taste the soup which was awesome and the house salad was surprisingly good! Hearts of Palm are the best.
The thing that stuck out most though was the fact that they were SO attentive to my 18 month old daughters needs. As soon as we ordered they brought her some soup. They also brought her a little tray with cherries, blueberries and orange slices on it. Also some croutons. Perfect finger foods for an antsy little girl. I didn't have to ask for anything.
I'll definitely be going back.
Pecan Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout. (Try saying that 5 times fast!) A bit greasier than I prefer my fish to be. Otherwise, everything we had was good, not great. We had bacon-wrapped scallops for an appetizer, we had five people in the party and there were only 4 scallops per order. It would've been nice if the server had let us know that in advance so we could've gotten two orders or something bigger.
I picked Bonefish because Yelpers told me it was the best option near the Skokie Center for Performing Arts. I think it probably is, but I'd rather hit Hugo's Frog Bar for seafood. Bonefish is just ok.
Everyone here is really nice, I loved the feel of the restaurant very relaxed and laid back.   Brandi was our waitress on she was the best, she asked if this was our first time there and she went over the menu with us.  She was so  friendly and attentive, she made sure we felt cozy, I felt as if I were at home.  The food was delicious, everything had a such a different, original and marvelous taste.  The manager made passed to make sure that everything was going fine.  The prices are great, the staff is very friendly.  As we left all the staff made sure to say thanks for coming. Â
I can't wait to go back!
We had a really good first experience at Bonefish. Looking through the menu, the appetizers were hard to choose from, so we ordered edamame (something healthy) and bang-bang shrimp (something unhealthy but DELICIOUS... isn't that always the case?). The bang bang shrimp is ridiculously good. Â The portion is large, so we ended up sharing the Baja Fish Tacos as the main course. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the mango salsa instantly became my obsession. I love the fact that they have the recipe on their website, because I will be making it! Â Our waitress was very. very nice.
Over all, great experience.
Mmmmmmm.....seafoooood.... But seriously, if you like seafood, I would definitely recommend this place. I met a friend here last night, and we just shared a few appetizers, and they were all outstanding! The ahi tuna was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The calamari was also very tender, breaded and tasty. We also had the muscles, and those were terrific!
The atmosphere was modern and clean. My friend said she waited at the bar for our table before I arrived and said the bar staff was super friendly.
Our waiter was also very friendly, and courteous. He did not rush us, even though we took a while to place our order, and we stayed until they closed.
Oh yeah, the prices are very reasonable. For three appetizers, and a total of six cocktails, our check was just under $70.
I will definitely return!
You will notice that when you walk in, the decor is pretty nice, complete with very romantic low lighting. Â There are people here wearing both nicer clothing and some in jeans. Â The wait staiff is attentive, friendly, and helpful in aiding you in your choice of wine or an entree. Â
The servings of mussels for an appetizer I had were generous, and they were good. Â I was a bit dissapointed in the serving portions on the entrees my party and I received though. Â There was a tiny scoop of potatoes that were not too savory, a helping of clumpy rice that was absolutely flavorless. Â The chimichurri on the salmon was a bit overpowering and didn't complement the dish well. Â
Since the price was a bit higher than a lot of chains, I'd expect a bit more on the helpings of the sides, and better quality food. Â Their creme brulee was alright, and that helping was big. Â This place is average, not good, not bad. Â I would have also expected to see more of a selection in their sea food, but was a bit dissapointed. Â
Overall, this place is alright. Â I think next time I have sea food, I'll spend a little more and go to Bob Chinn's to get my fix.
We came here for Sunday dinner with my boyfriend's mother and I was pleasantly surprised to find it much nicer than the storefront setup would initialy imply. The lighting was low and the earth toned aesthetic was extremely pleasing to the eye.
Our waiter was EXTREMELY passionate about the menu and explained everything in complete detail. There were a few times where his adjective use bordered on overkill, but we were well versed in our choices.
On my boyfriend's mother's insistence, we tried the Bang Bang Shrimp and I agree with Hannah Y's comment about how they feel like firecrackers going off in your mouth. The tiny crispy shrimp had a sweet and spicy sauce that made me question the preparation of all sweet and sour sauce I'd ever tasted previously. The portion was hefty enough for the three of us to each have our fair share.
For my entree, I selected one of the salmon specials - grilled salmon with Gorgonzola, bacon and a lemon wine sauce. It was a good piece of salmon, but the Gorgonzola chunks were a bit large and overpowered a few bites. Overall it was tasty, and I enjoyed the potatoes au gratin that were on the side.
Despite being stuffed, I was urged to sample a few desserts that were family favorites. We ordered crème brûlée and key lime pie for the table, and once again found the portions to be sufficient to have fed 5 people between the two dishes. The crème brûlée was the most smooth crème brûlée that I've ever tasted, but the key lime pie was average. Average key lime pie is still pretty good in my book.
While not the greatest bet in the Chicagoland area by far, Bonefish is definitely worth a try if you're out and about in the Skokie area.
Did you ever have one of those dinners with absolutely horrific service, but awesome, A+, star quality food?
Well, this was the exact opposite.
Our server was A+, star quality. She had a great attitude, was really friendly, made sure to check-in on us, refilled our water and knew the menu really well. Plus, the people who brought out the food were amusing. (Also, one of those people spilled my dad's water all over the table (and him!) and she seemed genuinely sorry.)
But the food...oh, the food. It was semi-tragic. Yes, the calamari was good. (But, it was fried. You can't really go wrong when something is fried.) And, so was the bread and the pesto dip. But...the seafood? Not so much. I ordered the pistachio parmesan crusted trout ($18) because the description made it seem like it would be really flavorful. It was topped with artichokes and had a lemon butter/basil sauce. Sounded good. In reality, it was the blandest item I have ever had in my life. I tried to add salt...and it didn't help. My mom even asked for soy sauce and vinegar (the default dipping sauce for FIlipinos)...and that was also useless. Midway through, I just gave up on the trout and went back to the bread.
Oh, and if you want to add soup or a salad, it's an extra like $2.50. Like, really? That's a little insane for the small portion they serve up.
They ended up comping our dessert due to the water spillage mishap. (However, my sister did have to ask the waitress if we'd be comped for anything. Then, the manager came over and asked about the meal, etc.) Other than that, the service here was great. We loved our waitress...honestly. She is the reason why they're getting 2 stars. But, the food is incredibly overpriced and bland. If I'm comparing this to the likes of another seafood chain, I'm going to be bold and say that Red Lobster is waaaaay better. (And, THAT's pretty sad.)
Our friends took us here, and I shouldn't be surprised that I liked it, where ever they recommend turns out to be a great experience.
The food was fairly priced. We were there a bit later in the evening (nothing too unusually late for a Saturday night dinner), and they were out of our friend's favorite dish, so I would imagine the place had to be pretty busy before we got there. I didn't think it was too crowded, but we were sitting in the bar area, and it was pretty loud for a "classy" place. The football game on  the televisions detracted a bit from the ambiance (and seriously, who goes to their local seafood restaurant when then want a beer and to see the game?)
I haven't tried any other seafood restaurants yet, and I would probably prefer something a little less "polished" but I will probably be back here soon.
I had a birthday dinner there last year and it was great! You'd never guess that Bonefish Grill is a chain. There's nothing generic about this place, starting from the bar down to the service and the food.
I highly recommend the crab cakes and the salmon. All the seafood is fresh and served hot. The service is quick, but the space is a little tightly packed.
I live in Skokie and the parking lot is always busy, so be sure to make reservations before you head out there.
Dinner here was damn good. Â On the other hand, my wife LOVED her dish and she doesn't prefer seafood. Â She raved about the rice (it had raisins and nuts) and her garlic dusted whitefish. Â
They ran out of the dish I originally wanted (Pistachio Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout), but my waitress let me put the crust on another fish. Â I chose Sea Bass instead. Â It was a bit of a mistake on my part since the Sea Bass overpowered the crust. Â Oh, but I didn't really notice since their Au Gratin was damn tasty. Â The angel hair marinara was decent, but I wish I chose the rice instead.
Service was excellent as well and the place was packed (it was Father's Day).
Overall, it is a good addition to the strip mall.
