I came here once to try it out soon after it opened.  I came here early on a Friday or Saturday night.  They had a band playing and there were 2 other tables sat.  I ordered the Jambalaya pasta.  It was awful.  The noodles were extremely soggy and it was super bland.

I went to 2nd Street recently and saw that the business was closing.

Though I rated this place 1 star, it had a really good talented chef so I hated to see it fail, but fail it has. With his horrid bumbling staff, he never had a chance.

It's now closed, gone, finished and out of business!

My fear is that the former staff of Bourbon may now be free to seek out other restaurants to ruin.

I have eaten here number of times, The happy hour fresh oysters at 50 ct each are outstanding, fried green tomatoes great, ask for the firer cracker sauce on the side with it. Great Gumbo, all of the Poor Boy sandwiches are good, my favorite is the blackened fish with the works.
Over all very good New Orleans food. If you love collard greens you got to have them here. (That is the Bitter green talked about in one of the other reviews) Also try the red beans !

What is also great about this place are the BANDS, Brass band on Friday, great southern rock on Sundays, Kilmo and the Alligator Ally Allstars, They have a different great guest star with them each time.  (starts at 4pm on Sun so you can have a great day and be good for Monday) Tuesday is independent writer, singer night, Wed they have a very good female singer, cannot remember her name, but she does a lot of her own stuff and has a great voice. Thur is Kilmo and another person, always good.

Service has gotten better but still needs work, they are friendly but when it is busy they can get in the weeds.

They have a good selection of Hot sauces if you ask for something other then the standard.

Overall some of the best New Orleans food around and a great atmosphere. If you tried before try again, if you have not tried give it a go.

It was very sad when Creolinas closed on 2nd street (what a WONDERFUL PLACE)---and I supported his efforts in Davie too...so needless to say when I heard this place was going to open, very excited...AND I talked it up to friends who have experienced his culinary skills.

The wait staff at Bourbon on 2nd is HORRIBLE! Unpolished, no idea about cajun food, no presentation skills, do not listen, they are SLOW and they smoke cigarettes in front of the resturant...gross...(go to the back so customers dont see u like all the rest of us used to do when we worked in restaurants).....

Walked in, 2 of us, no hostess or host....manager busy having a conversation with a server, he saw us, and looked at the server to help us...come on manager...u have NO ONE in restaurant..WHY dont YOU walk us over to the table and why dont YOU start rolling the presentation and impress us (show your staff the type of service you know your customers want to experience whatever, sorry to interrupt.....I went to the ladies room, and as I was walking back to my table the unpolished server stops me and says what do I want to drink? Can I sit down please and look at your drink menu or wine menu???

Ordered a glass of wine, took forever.  We had our order ready from the start to finish....wanted to give it to him all at one time...he said no, he would put appetizers in first and then come back for our order...(ok fine, I dont want you to forget--cause you have zero tables that you are waiting on and it might be too difficult)...ugh!

FOOD WAS GREAT! Had the conch fritters, and cajun popcorn to start! The sauces for the cajun popcorn are GREAT! Jambalaya, not so good--Ribeye with the Nantun (sp) sauce...most excellent!

Now here is the worst part---I ate 1/4 of the steak and asked for it to go along with the remaining apps (yummy leftovers).....They threw my steak away and only gave me the apps.  I used very explicit language when I opened up my to go container the next day!

PEOPLE- the FOOD is GREAT! The service is HORRIBLE! My suggestion is.....get the food TO GO and leave!

Im staying on the other side of 2nd street----PL8 has MUCH better service :)

A client suggested we meet here, otherwise this place is not on my RADAR at all. From a top-of-mind perspective this place is invisible. I am in the social media business and that is where I spend my time, and Tarpon Bend or ROK:BGR is where I would have chosen in the area...

My client let me know that the fare was supposed to have the same chef (Mark) from Creolina's... I ate there a time or two, left a good impression.

I had the Jambalaya ($13). My client raved about having the same thing (blackened-catch-of-the-day costing "market price") every time he visits. His shop is nearly in waking distance. Marnie (business partner) enjoyed the chicken with some swanky sauce on it that slips my mind (Vitua? Fatua?), I took the leftovers and it was not memorable.

My Jambalaya was interesting. It had some unexpected brown gravy poured over the sausage, chicken, onions, and rice. It got a #FAIL for presentation, but I enjoyed it immensely! The bread was thick, and course, and partially butter, but I liked that too.

The service was okay, no host or hostess at the door and I walked in to stares of customers with no staff visible. Awkward.

Overall, the food is the most important thing to this guy, and it was delicious. I will go back.

My first visit recently was a success.   Good food, pretty good casual atmosphere, there was a good live band the night I was there which I think they have most nights.  I only had the Etoufee, but it was excellent, I have lived in New Orleans and this is the best I've had outside of Louisiana.  To the one reviewer who trashed the steak, this is not a steakhouse.  Prices are very reasonable.  A good new alternative downtown and great option for cajun food.

Wonderful food, recommended by one of the employees at MODS.  Lunch special of buy one, get one lunch entrees.  Jambalaya, étouffée, red beans and rice combo was wonderful.  Great place for a good Cajun meal.  Lots of spice and flavor.

3.5 stars Both of us enjoyed our dinner there. Portions were quite large and the price was right.  The only criticism was an odd brown sauce on one dish which added nothing but...er...brown sauce. Considering this place is in the party district, not much was expected.  We weren't overwhelmed, but we were pleasantly surprised.  Even with this said, New Orleans itself isn't likely to take much notice.

Writing an update because I had a different experience at dinner with Bourbon.  I will say this, I still love the food and think Bourbon is great for lunch.  Mark's recipes for etouffee, gumbo and and jambalaya blow the slop at Shuck N Dive away any day.  Having said that, I was there for dinner a few nights ago and I will agree with what others have said that the servers and bar tenders need some schooling.  THey had like 4 waiters/waitresses working and about six tables filled.  We were visited three times, once for our drink order then for our food order and finally for the food delivery.  For the prices they charge at dinner (they have lower lunch prices for the same portion), I expect to have our server check on us a few times...especially when they are not that busy.  So in conclusion, until they get their act together I would only recommend Bourbon for lunch.  Especially when the lunch special is one of the following:

    Dolphin Mathers Bridge
    Dolphin Anglin's Pier
    Shrimp and Grits

    Deeeeelicious!

Meh, Just ate there tonight for the first time. Got the steak ($26!!) and it was very basic, kind of bland and had no seer on it. It was greasy and fatty, looked and tasted like my Dad made it at home in a non stick pan. Nothing "restaurant" about it.
I had to put lots of A1 on it for some flavor. The greens were very bitter and I couldn't get past 1 bite, the squash was good but small portion, potatoes pretty good. but small portion
Service was friendly but  slow, I didnt feel I got my money's worth. My friend said it was ok but he wouldn't go back either.

They were having some function inside the restaurant so we sat at a table outside. I went in to use the mens room and a worker there said "Hey You!" in a really loud voice to stop me. I said I was a customer just using the restroom.
He yelled at me like I was in there to steal something. It was so rude, I was mad.

One of the cooks was on the sidewalk smoking a cigarette...lovely.
Left disappointed. Would never go back.
