I decided to brave the rush hour traffic and headed out for some Brianno's pizza.
First off, A large here will fill a few more mouths than the equivalent of a carbones or broadway large. Â Much bigger.
Pizza was well worth the drive.
Tasty, thin ...beautiful crust. Â Reminds me of Racine pizza.
Truly do wish they took check/credit cards. Â I hate paying 2.50 to take out cash on the spot.
Turn in on Slater Road. You'll go batty trying to find it on Cliff. This has all the staples for homemade Italian cooking. It also has so much good stuff at the counter you wish you could eat in. They carry a very interesting iced tea that looks almost yellow. I got a hoagie and the Italian dressing is very strong. I got some canned clam sauce that was actually pretty good, just buy an extra can of clams. You'll need them because the ones in the sauce are minced to the extreme. There's a large cheese selection as you walk in. I'm on the FB page, and the daily soup and entree features are always so tempting.
Review Source:Cannot do much better then Brianno's pizza. It's quality ingredients and every pizza I've eaten I would recommend. A large will feed 4-5 people. Â Most greasy pizzas I hate because I'm left with a terrible tummy ache, but not here. I also love the Caesar salad, the dressing is full of flavor. I also enjoy the sandwiches and hot entres although you will hit double digits in price for an average size meal. It's a small place but they also supply a large stock of shelf goods and fresh food (great Parmesan).
Review Source:Great thin crust sausage pizza, wonderful hot hoagies, fresh high quality deli cuts. Â Aside from hot food, they have a full Italian deli and specialty food store. Â Try the sausage and peppers hoagie - it will blow your mind.
Great prices, great food - this is a MUST see.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
-Credit cards are NOT accepted here. Â They do have an ATM on site if needed. Â
-While there are a couple of outdoor tables to dine, there is no seating in the deli. Â This is a take-out place.
-Don't miss the berry tiramisu! Â It is amazing!!!
My sandwich from here was absolutely delicious, as well as gigantic. The staff was very helpful, there's no seating so don't expect a place to sit and eat. The food was fresh, and well made. They had alot of choices and were pretty much a great choice. The one word of warning is that they only take cash or check, no cards. They have an ATM but it is apparently frequently out of order so you might have to walk to the SA at the end of the driveway.
Review Source:After all the reviews I had to check it out. Â Went in and saw the wide variety of sandwich options as well as pizza to either have baked there, half baked or take and bake. Â
I checked out the menu for future knowledge and ordered some italian meats to take home. Â I got some capicolo, mortadella and a few others. Â Seemed to be at the end of their roll and they turned green in my fridge in just a couple days. Â Was very disappointed in that. Â I even had them sealed in lock n lock containers which keep things fresher, longer. Â Not in the case of this meat. Â I think it was old and past its prime when sold to me. Â
I'm giving two stars right now b/c of the bad meat. Â I will go back to try their pizza, sandwiches and other things, but I will be leary about their cold cut meat and check the size of the roll before I order it.
Having lunch together with coworkers at work, we ordered from Brianno's. Â I ordered 1/2 meatball sandwich. It was big. The meatball was big and sliced. Almost feel like eat slice of hamburgers. Bread was tasty. Sauce just right. And accompanied by 1 banana pepper. It was fulfilling for $5.
Review Source:We had Brianno's for the first time last night. Â I was really looking forward to it because of the great reviews it got... and I was very pleased! Â We got mostacolli & meatballs, the daily special (forgot what it was.. but it was excellent!) and the Chicago Roast Beef with hot peppers (because of Andy B's post) It was fantastic! Â He's right.. the bread is awesome. Â I'm looking forward to making Brianno's a permanent go-to place for Italian food. Â The pizza is next! Â :)
Review Source:I have yet to find a better Italian Deli style sandwich. On this visit I had the Chicago Roast Beef  with hot giardiniera. This sandwich has a lot of kick and mouth watering flavor. If you're ordering a full be ready for a massive food coma! The freshly baked bread is just simply EPIC. The service is outstanding and friendly. I do not give out 5 stars often, in fact this is the first time I am doing so! You will not be disappointed.
Review Source:I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before now. Â Brianno's is one of my absolute favorites. Â I strongly recommend becoming a fan on facebook. Â They post the specials on their page every day (almost). Â Best special of all is the Garlic Tortellini with Pesto Cream Sauce...so good. Â
I've never gotten the pizza as I usually head over on my lunch break. Â They don't sell it by the slice and I'm usually on my own for lunch. Â I've heard it really is the best around though.
Delicious specials, great every day menu, amazing sandwiches (find someone to share with). Â The eggplant parmesan sandwich is awesome.
Don't worry too much about not accepting plastic, there's an ATM right in the shop. Â Remember, this is a deli, not a restaurant. Â Aside from a couple of tables outside when the weather's nice, this is pretty much take out only.
As far as take out deli Italiano(does that make sense) this is just about the best darn stuff made, the guys working are great the food terrific and the fact that your reading this while making a decision to grab food from there or not....stupid, your just wasting time! Â The likely hood of you showing up at a clients office with lunch from Briannos and them buying what your selling is almost a guarantee when you offer to come back again with more Briannos ....Now go make that sale!
Review Source:Went for the pizza, which was really good, but it was the subs that stood out. The bread makes them. Â Fresh baked, the sub rolls are not the lame stretched out Wonderbread nightmares that most chains and sub shops use. Â No. Â This is real bread. We got the chicago beef with the hot giardinara--it was amazing. Went to school in Chicago, my wife's good friend is from Chicago and make the beef sandwich homemade; this was better than anything I've had. Â The next sub was the Italiano, fresh sliced cold cuts a little oil and vinegar-perfect. Â Frankly, the bread took both sandwiches to the next level
Pizza's good, crispy flat bread style, and tasty. I've got an North East pizza bias, but I enjoyed Brianno's a lot. It's its own thing, good sauce and cheese, go for it. Open your minds New Yorkers, Chicagoans, and Californians: it's all good! Â
In the end great place, one caveat: Brianno's is a hole in the wall type place. Â Don't be looking for maitre d's. It's a small market and deli, and for the uninitiated good places like this look almost exactly the same way from Milwaukee to New Jersey to Waltham, Mass.
Brianno's is a wonderful market/deli along the lines of a smaller Broder's. The pizza has a thin crust and the large is enormous for only a $3 up charge. The Hot Dago and Meatball sandwich are on some really tasty bread. There is always something fresh and interesting available. They have pizza, lasagne and meatballs in their freezer case to take home for later as well.
Great customer service! Highly recommended.
Tried this pizza over at my brother's house. Â YUM!!! Â I love thin crust pizza, and this stuff was great! Â It was greasy, but that's okay (fat = flavor, right?). Â It tastes a lot like my all-time favorite thin crust, Quonset pizza in Waukegan, IL (holla! Â LOL). Â The italian sausage is really tasty and has a spicy little kick to it. Â I would love to find a thin crust like this in SF. Â Gaspare's is probably the closest so far, but not quite as good.
Review Source:The pizza is as good as it gets. Â The only bad thing is they don't deliver, but easy enough to drive there and pick up. Â Being new to Eagan, I've found very few good restaurants. Â I was beginning to doubt my move to the area until I stopped by and ordered a pizza at Brianno's. Â The crust is thin and crispy, and with or without cheese, the flavors are really good.
Review Source:I have never personally stepped foot in Brianno's. Â But, I ended up trying a couple of their desserts which my uncle picked up. Â The terimesu was some of the best I have ever had with moist lady fingers, creamy marscapone, rich dark chocolate shavings, and that subtle splash of rum that together make up a sweet plethora of tastes. Â The lingdinberry Pound cake was moist with fresh, sweet and tangy lingdinberries and a praline butter cream frosting to die for; which was thick, creamy, and sweet with fresh, crunchy pralines.! Â I will definitely have to make a pilgrimage to try some other things at this excellent Italian deli, if not have my aunt and uncle pick some things up. Â So, for excellent desserts and other Italian fare, Brianno's Deli-Italia cannot be beat. Â Keep up the good work guys.!
Review Source:I've been told that this place has the best pizza in town. That being the case, you'll have to take this review with a grain of salt as I have yet to try the pizza. I had one of their sandwiches instead. I got their deli special at the time and wasn't all that impressed. The bread was a bit too hard for my taste and I don't know if it was because of the bread but the thing was way too dry. The tastes were great, but having to drink a swig of water after every bite kind of made me forget how good it tasted.
I do owe them a visit to try the pizza so I'll update this review when I get around to doing so.
If thin crust pizza is your heart's desire, you need a Brianno's fix. Â There's none better. Â Ken, Chris, Brian himself will make it to your liking. Â You don't care for much cheese? Â Not a problem. Â Ol' Whatshisname doesn't want *any* cheese? Â No problem. Â In addition to the pizzas, there are sandwiches, and cold meats to be sliced for you so you can make your own darned capicolla sandwich. Â They bake the bread all day long and it's terrific. Â Somehow, the heel of the loaf never sees the inside of my home. . . .
If you want they'll bake it halfway and you can finish it up yourself at home. $17 will get a big one (18" diameter?) with a couple toppings. Â
There's a small selection of Italian groceries (no produce) as well as a freezer case full of goodies to take home and heat at your leisure.
During the summer on Thursday afternoons, Brianno's is a great place for lunch outside before or after you check out the fresh vegetables and flowers at the St. Paul Farmers Market satellite held in the parking lot of Mary, Mother of the Church Roman Catholic church. Â It's right next door.
Caveat: Â They do not take plastic. Â None. Â No credit cards, no debit cards, no plastic. Â Cash or check only. Â Note that Brianno's can be a little tricky to find. Â Look for the Royal Cliff banquet/party/event facility; Brianno's is the retail part of it. Â The entrance is off Slater Road.
