Please, hire just ONE qualified person, please.
You must be able to afford it- it would make your business grow as well, I promise.
Hire someone who can understand my order a little better, and make sure that what I order is what I get.
These workers there are nice, at least two of them are pretty cool from interaction.
But- it's very chaotic and it looks like it need better leadership and training.
Come on- all you need is ONE good person who can hold the ropes.
I've tried really hard to like Cafe Society and take my business there. The coffee is decent and fast to get but that's about where it ends. Most of the food is overpriced and OK. I think what started as a cafe with a limited menu has grown and tried to do too much and the overall experience has suffered. Not to mention the employees are fast to close up shop when the owner is not onsite.
I went in the past Saturday evening at 6:40 to get a pizza to take out and was told the restaurant was closed, at 6:40 the evening of a Bears game? I pushed and was told that they closed at 7 so I asked if I could order to go since the place wasn't closing for 20 mins, ordered my pizza, paid and ran home to get ready for a picnic. My husband walked over to pickup the pizza (at 6:55) and had to stand at the door and have the person giving him the pizza squeeze in between the stuff in the front of the restaurant to give him the pizza and he commented on how rude they were to him. The pizza was OK but not something we'll order again.
The previous visit was for dessert on a nice summer night, we showed up at 7pm and was told that the place was closed and the door was closed basically in our faces. The hours listed on Yelp are wrong or change based on the staff.
Most weekend days the place has a decent crowd having lunch on the patio so I'm hoping my experiences were a fluke as I'd like to see neighborhood businesses do well. I'm going to give them another try this fall when the owner is present and see if there's a difference.
Went here with a friend while we were waiting for the Glessner House tour to begin, we had about an hour to kill so we decided to stop and get a bite to eat. The patio seating was very inviting, and the weather was ideal so we went in to order. There were about 4 other customers waiting inside the tiny indoor area, 3 of which were irate because their food had taken so long to be prepared. One of them had gotten the wrong order, and had waited an extended period of time for the correct order. Two of the other angry patrons had left in a rage. I suppose had we been on a strict schedule or starving it may have been more of a nuisance, but since we were just exploring the city for the day it wasn't so bothersome. We ordered, and took a seat outside, and did wait about 30 minutes for a club sandwich and a burger. The food was fresh though, and not expensive. I was more impressed with the cute outdoor ambience than anything else. Inside the "cafe" was cramped, messy, and uncomfortable.
