First time there, very disappointed. Requested a table near the fireplace, was not told it was in the entrance.  Our cheese fondue appetizer had a long black hair in. When we told out server the dish with the hair was taken away, but not the appetizer. After some time we were asked if we were finished with it, which we were since we were not going to finish a dish with hair in it . We were trying to celebrate a special night ,so we didn't want to make a scene. We were offered a weak apology and nothing else.  The food was average and not what we expected. Very disappointed and wont be back.

My husband and I received a gift certificate for here.

Our meal was just excellent.  My husband had the calamari for an appetizer, osso buco as the entree, and the apple fritters for dessert.  I had the shrimp cocktail, the bow tie pasta with chicken and artichokes with vodka sauce and the apple-apricot tart with ice cream.  Our meal was fantastic.  The coffee was so good that we had several cups.  The waiter and all the staff that work the meal were outstanding.

The place was really busy last night with no table remaining empty long.  So glad I made a reservation.

The fireplace was cozy and, with the cold temps, made it extremely welcoming. The atmosphere was homey with lots of wood walls and several dining rooms.

Our dinner was great and we will certainly be back!

I wanted to like it because I heard so many raves.  The food was just okay. I sampled all the dishes at my table. I ordered from the prix fixe (chicken with linguine), one reason was because of the price and the other was for a dessert called the chocolate surprise. I dreamed about something so lush and it was chocolate mousse sandwiched in a shell, it was disappointing. My table also ordered the apple fritters, which were okay, on the greasy side.

The service was excellent, attentive, but not overly so, which always makes for a nice experience when dining with friends.

    It's expensive, be prepared.

Although a little expensive for a college student like myself, the food at Canterbury Brook Inn is very good and the restaurant itself is very cozy.  In the winter, there is a fire going in each room and in the summer you can sit outside with a great view of a nearby stream.  All of the entrees are $20 and up, but Tuesday-Thursday there is a special menu that includes soup or salad, and entree, dessert, and tea or coffee for only $17.95 which is definitely a great deal.  I ordered crab cakes which were very good, and my boyfriends saffron risotto was delicious!  However, I think that the best things on the menu are the fondue for two, which comes with bread and apples for dipping, and the moose tracks ice cream for dessert.  Make sure you ask for extra Belgian chocolate on the ice cream, it is one of the best chocolates I have EVER had!  The service was very attentive and the chef even came out to see how we liked our food.  The chef is very good about making any substitutions or changes to your meal if you request it.

Very good food, nice cozy atmosphere. Owners are Swiss I think.  Wood inside, fireplace, kind of dark, but nice.  Outside seating as well and a bar inside.  Food is consistently good. Check it out!!

I had dinner here once.  The Canterbury Brook Inn is a decent restaurant in charming Cornwall that holds its own among the other established restaurants in the area.

The Canterbury Brook Inn is in the style of an old-fashioned country inn, and the menu features a variety of Swiss and European dishes.  The restaurant has a nice fireplace, and the ambiance is generally cozy and comfortable.  It's the type of place in which you want to linger because of the warmth and geniality that's present in everything about you.

It's been awhile since I've visited so I don't remember the exact dish I ordered, but I don't recall being dissatisfied with my meal.  The food is hearty and filling, and while it won't knock you out of the ballpark, it'll certainly leave you feeling full and satisfied.

I'm kind of nervous that I'm the first reviewer, but here goes!

Okay, so this place, much like a lot of the restaurants in the Cornwall/Woodbury/Highland Mills area, is old. It's homey, with a lot of wood interior, and relaxed -- although I gather that this is one of the more nicer places to go out to dinner.

We had a party of seven and we were seated in the "patio" area -- basically a sun room with windows looking out into the town. I mean, it was kind of weird not being in the dining room area, but the view out the windows of the snow and the big Christmas tree in the town square was nice. The only problem was that it smelled musty and the heater was blowing straight onto our faces, but oh well.

The food here was so-so. Nothing I would really say was amazing. I paid about $21 for a seafood pasta. I appreciated that the cook was wiling to substitute the regular marinara sauce with something else. I asked for a creamy or a scampi sauce, but he made it with some sort of white wine thing -- nothing too exciting to the palate. It had scallops, shrimp, baked clams, crab and salmon. The baked clams was gritty -- wasn't cleaned well, I suppose. I also bit into a few of those hard crab inner shell things and that wasn't nice.

The salad was really good -- light and refreshing. The crab cake I shared with someone was really mushy. The texture was terrible.

Service was nice, prompt, and helpful.

I think if I went here again, I would definitely try something else. Everyone else enjoyed their meals but I was just a little put off buy the prices and what you get for the money. There's not a lot of nice restaurants to go to in this area, so I guess it has to do with availability.
