Yes! Yes! Eff Yes!

Everything* about the Cherry Cricket is right.

*Except for the mess that is parking in Cherry Creek and the wait for a table. But, alas, all good things come with a wait.

So Cherry Cricket was a must go to spot on my Denver food adventure. Came here on a Friday evening, and the place was pretty packed. Found a seat at the bar and ordered a pint of the Dale's pale ale which was one of the daily specials. For my cricket burger I got a over hard egg, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, and smoked cheddar cheese. Burger came out medium rare and nice and juicy. Also order a half basket of onion rings. SInce i by myself, i like the fact that you can order a half basket which is a good size serving for one. Service was excellent even at the bar. Overall the place has a nice friendly and lively atmosphere. Family friendly location but as many people have said, the place gets busy. A reputation that is well deserved.

Good times, great burgers! A must visit.

What? I just realized I haven't given this place a review.

I got the burger to go because the line to wait for a seat was 2 hours. I made my own burger with avocado, medium rare meat, chedder cheese and egg. The plus, the patty was nice and thick, but the flavor is a little dull. The meat is also a little dry even though I had it made medium rare. The egg, cook to it's really dead; not what I wanted ~ I want it runny!

Inside is a little dirty and smelly. The line to pick up your order is also really weird. I had to walk around the bar back and forth several time to get the bar tender's attention to ring me up for my burger.

Tip: Nothing beats the In-N-Out burger in California for quality and price.

I can sum up this place so here goes. Yes it's a nice place to have a beer and burger in the middle of cherry creek hell. However, better quality meat and less attention to the toppings that go on the meat would do this place better. A good burger needs nothing, yet the burgers here do, so no it's not the best burger in Denver, not by a long shot.

This place is busy, busy, busy. So if you don't like crowds and lots of noise better stay away. I feel like it is a bit overpriced but it is a good burger, so if you can get past a $10 burger that doesn't come with fries I think you'll be alright. That being said the burger is very good, you pay for each topping that you want but they have a lot of selections. I had guacamole, fresh jalapeno, and cheddar cheese it was super yummy. I shared some fries and onion rings with my friend they will bring you half a basket of each. The Onion Rings are toooooooo die for the onion doesn't break off like so many places and they are super crunchy. I will be back and I like coming here at off times like 3pm for a late lunch or Tuesday nights that way I can enjoy it a bit more. In my opinion what makes a good burger is the bun to patty ration they have to be the same size and they are here, the buns are fantastic which is probably why it has been on the Food Network and the Travel Channel, check it out if you come to Denver.

This place reminded me of Bartley's Burger Cottage in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. Overall, good quality beef used in their burgers. Nothing really stood out in my mind b/c I got a plain burger, but this place is really known for stacking their burgers with things like pineapples and peanut butter. The sweet potato fries tasted very fresh. Their regular fries appeared double fried and had a seasoning on them. The onion rings are thick cut. I liked how you could get both fries and rings together in an order called "frings" as opposed to having to order them separately which would be way too much food for one person. While they don't serve cherry Coke, they were able to make one with grenadine and regular Coke.

I don't get down this way very often, but find myself seeing if I have time for the Cricket when I do. The burger combinations are amazing. Hell, peanut butter on anything is amazing; on a burger it's genius! If it weren't so damn pricey, I'd be bringing home the green chili by the gallons.

I like to sit outside when weather permits, the inside has a bit of "bar funk" smell to it.

It's such a relief to have a casual burger place in Cherry Creek North. Although I do love pretty much all the other restaurants in this area, the Cherry Cricket is just so nice and relaxed. Expect a wait here pretty much any night of the week, but nothing that isn't tolerable, or worth a great burger.
The restaurant is much bigger than one expects when you enter it. Make sure you have your ID out upon entering, they will give you a stamp for alcohol. I may have committed a crime, but I actually didn't get a burger here. I felt more like a sandwich that night so I went the the hot pastrami sandwich. Delish, and had leftovers for lunch the next day. The mustard on their sandwiches is amazing, I think the server said something about beer mustard, no wonder it's so tasty. Our server was great, he wasn't pushy and could totally tell, and respect, that I was on a first date. It went well, thanks for asking, no doubt in part to the scrumptious sweet potato fries, sandwiches, and couple three beers.

One of my top places to eat in Denver.

The Cricket is basically a bar that sells excellent burgers.
The burgers are juicy and the toppings are unique.
I always get: cheese, bacon, peanut butter, sunnyside-up egg.

They have a great selection of beers and the staff is always friendly.

I was in Denver and wanted a burger. So I googled "Best burger in Denver, CO."

The internet told me to hit up Cherry Cricket, so I did. My faith in anonymous foodies remains strong, because Cherry Cricket was a great choice.

It's pretty much a build-your-own-burger joint. You choose the size of patty you want and then you select your toppings from a list- almost all of which incur an extra charge, so be ready to spend $8-15 for your burger, depending how crazy you go with your toppings.

The burger itself was great. Cooked as ordered and juicy. My chosen toppings were pastrami, bacon, a fried egg, and provolone. Delicious.

Service was great. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. I would definitely go back if I was to visit Denver again.

I do not necessarily understand the hype built around this place. Maybe it is because I was born and raised in the Midwest and have been able to experience excellent burgers.

Cherry Cricket does have some positives. Beer selection is expansive, and service is decent. I also like the creativity with the toppings. But nearly all of the toppings is an extra charge. So your five dollar burger could end up to be quite expensive depending on how creative you get. However, I get a burger for the meat and not the toppings. With that being said, the burger did not impress.

I would come back to sit on the patio in the summer and enjoy their beer menu, but I will enjoy my own grilled hamburger from home much more.

Dive bar with great burgers. We really enjoyed the local crowd and burgers were great. We will come back next time in Denver.

I was excited to try to place since it was rated extremely highly. I knew I wanted a burger since that is what they are known for! On the wall they list their famous green chili burger which is what I ended up getting. I would say it is a decent burger, not sure if it was one that I would go seek out over and over though. I'm taking off one star from my experience since the burger was supposed to come with cheese and it arrived without a slice. I told our waiter and he brought me and my friend two slices of cold cheese to add to our burger. I would maybe preferred that the burgers were taken back so that the cheese could have been melted on.

Overall fun atmosphere, good selection of beers, expect a wait on Friday nights!

On the day that I was set to leave mile high country, we ventured towards downtown Denver (or just outside of it) and found this sports bar. It wasn't even a game day, but heck if you could tell by the crowd inside. We had to wait a good 15-20 minutes to be seated but nothing alarming today

There were burgers, burgers, sandwiches, and more burgers on the menu. I know we ordered at least one quesadilla (for my sister), but I can't recall what the others got - I got the Alice Chicken Sandwich which is just glorified chicken sandwich with mushroom, bacon, honey dijon and cheddar cheese. Just what I like. It was messy and with fries and a glass root beer (aren't those always the best) it was a well given meal before a 3 hour flight home

There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said. Lots of beer. Great burgers with awesome toppings. Small space. Long waits that are worth the wait. Bad parking. You need to go there if you like burgers or bad parking.

I have never in my entire life had a hamburger from a restaurant (or fast food joint) but I have heard so much about how great these ones were that I just had to do it.

The decor was bar-sy and a bit dark but it was just fine. We were seated rather quickly, I can tell that they get long lines often so I was glad that we didn't get stuck in one.

I ordered my burger well-done and it was still pretty pink in the middle, less than medium in my opinion. The food was good, the burgers tasted homemade and fresh, not like packaged frozen ones that I always expect. Everything was yummy!

Never understood the infatuation with the Cherry Cricket. The place seems to have an immense following of people, and I just do not get why. The place is always cold in the winter, always burning hot in the summer, and the food is good, but not this grand display of deliciousness everyone seems to rave about. Yes, they have unique menu items, and some of the stuff they offer for your burger is pretty cool, but that's it. So I can put an egg on my burger huh? Alright. Peanut butter? Yeah, lots of places do that. Lots of places also do it all without the blatant hipster attitude that has permeated this place for a few years now. The burger just ain't that good, the service just ain't that good, and the vibe I get from the overly-hipsterly-zealously-better-than-you staff keeps me from coming back.

Great beer selection, and the best burgers you will find anywhere in the Denver area. A little out of the way and not the cleanest place but it only adds to the dive bar environment. One of my favorite places to go when I'm in Cherry Creek.

I have been here twice. The first time was more enjoyable than the second, but nothing stands out in my mind as exceptional. The burgers are tasty, and the beer selection abundant. The second time I went I had such horrible service i don't ever want to go back. We were seated in the most inconvenient place, where it was a fiasco any time waitstaff or patrons needed to get beyond our table. Our waiter just didn't seem to have a clue. He was slow, didn't check on us, and messed up everyone's ticket at the table. My ticket had extra charges on it that took at least 10 minutes to be corrected, after being handed off to several different people.

I love, love, love the Cherry Cricket. I'm gluten free and they'll give me a burger without the bun with nary an eye roll! We had a server, I think his name was Carl? He was friendly and amazing.
The service is always good and it's a great lunch spot when it's not so busy.

Well, I can officially say I've tried a burger with peanut butter and an egg on top.

I can also officially say that I actually liked it!

I love peanut butter, I love eggs, and I love burgers. What could go wrong? I would totally recommend it if you're interested in trying something unique.

The only issue was that the second I picked up the burger, the egg burst and turned it into a huge sloppy mess forcing me to eat the rest of it with a knife and fork, but whatever, it still tasted good.

I also had their sweet tea lemonade vodka thing and fries. Very tasty.

Everything was a-ok, but I don't think it was the best food I ever tasted. I was hoping for a lot more flavor when I ordered such a strange burger combo.

Ok after seeing this on man vs food a few years ago I decided to give this place a try while I was in town. It's got a college atmosphere inside the whole having a server throw darts to choose your toppings was a load of bs beside I do understand that it would be quite the hassle during their shift to toss darts to pick food for someone lacking creativity on a burger. They have a nice selection of custom made burgers and plenty of toppings to creat your own. The only room for improvement would be to add a choice of different meat to choose from. I will be coming back next time I'm in town.

After reading a bunch of Yelp reviews, I tried to taper my expectations. Would it really be THAT good?

Yes, yes it would be.

The wait wasn't that bad, maybe 15 minutes but nothing objectionable. They card you when you come in. Not sure if they did this just because it was a weekend or if they do it all the time, but I think it's a good practice -- cuts down on time for ordering.

I got the Little Cricket burger with white cheddar and green chile. Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had. The bun was toasted and buttery. The meat was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The green chili added just that right amount of zip.

I took one star off because I ordere two beers of the list only to be told they didn't have them. A simple menu update is in order. Also, you have to order fries separately, and, while they are good, they don't live up to the quality of the burger.

Don't understand the appeal. This place is like any other causal sporty pub except that its in Cherry Creek and its packed. Had the green chilli fries and well, it wasn't unappealing since there is really no way to screw up greasy diner food.

Just go downtown!

The wait to get in is ridiculous.

The food is OK. The service sucks. I'm far from "cool", so I'm not certain if this is one of those places where the waitstaff is supposed to act bored taking your order and throw food at you.

I'd like to give them another try, but I'm just not interested in waiting eons for a sub-par burger that I could get at countless other places. Maybe I'm just getting too damned old.

Turned the corner and was surprised to see how packed the place was at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We found a cozy little spot at the bar and ordered our self created burgers. I wouldn't say it's the best burger I've had, but a solid one. It's very similar to The Counter, where you can have as customized a burger as you want.

But.. MY RAVE. The thing that got me HOOKED, was the Green Chile. Oh. My. God. I could have gone back every day to eat a bowl of their Green Chili. It's not like American chili with beans, it's Mexican Chile, like Chile Verde, but in soup form. I have never tasted anything like that. And on a cold day...MAN. I just could NOT get enough.

It's divey. It's greasy. It's beery. It's dark and almost dank. It's an institution.

All of these things = my favorite things. Their burgers are famous, and aren't the best but are exactly what they need to be.

The beer is cold, appropriately priced. The service isn't anything to write home about (on either side of that coin).

Chances are if you're hitting up the Cherry Cricket you're doing so because you want a burger. Well you're in luck. They're fast, tasty, and will fill up your soon-to-be-overweight frame. The CC is simple, and good. And that's really all there is to it.

My co-worker touted this as the "greatest burger in Denver, and possibly the world" and had been on TV several times so I had pretty high expectations. I'll preface this review by saying that I like divey local places, so I was happy to see a vintage sign and a "well worn" interior.

Likes: you pick your toppings from an extensive list, drinks are served in ginormus glasses and everyone was friendly. They were heavy handed with my avocado topping which was awesome.

So/so: my actual burger. I picked avocado, cheese and bacon for toppings - it was good but nothing significantly better than I've had elsewhere. Service is a little chaotic (but nice!) because it's always packed.

Dislike: despite being a little divey, it's not really cheap because EVERYTHING is an add on. I mean everything! So, that $6 burger is all of a sudden $10-11 after adding a few toppings. If you want (very average) fries plan on an extra $3-4 for a basket on top of the burger price.

The Cherry Cricket is definitely a solid place for a burger without question, but I'm not sure it lives up to the considerable hype.

My first time ever in Cherry Creek and my first time at Cherry Cricket. Didn't know what to expect, except that the reviews were good. We went on a football Sunday so it was kinda busy. It turned out we had a buzzer that didn't work so we had to wait a little longer than we should have.
All that being said our burgers were worth the wait. I wasn't sure with the buzzer issue and kinda slow service if it would hold up to expectations. Once again I was wrong. All our food came out correct and everyone at the table was in shock at really how good the burgers were. I'm still in shock how much I liked my burger. From the bun to the seasoning and the bacon it really was mouth watering.
My only really complaint is that it isn't close to where I live. If you go and it is busy it is worth the wait.

Cherry Cricket, I wish I'd found you sooner!

The bf and I stopped in yesterday and had the best burgers we've had here... we got the 1/2 pound Cricket Burgers; his with egg, bacon & american cheese and mine with smoked cheddar, sauteed mushrooms & bleu cheese crumbles. They were so big & cooked perfectly, just delicious! and very filling, but I almost finished mine despite it's huge size, in the future I'll probably get a little cricket burger though.

Also got a basket of fries, they were seasoned fries (yum!) and had a side of ranch.

So so good... I can't wait to go back!

Love going here for drinks and sports watching.

Food is good bar food. I mostly get the burger with mushrooms and guacamole. It is not a dish of theirs, I just like that. I love their guacamole, also get a side to eat with fries. They have a good selection of beers and they usually have a couple of seasonals, which I love!

Service is always fine. Not fab but not bad, get what we need and if they are busy we might have to flag someone down for stuff. They are always friendly and have good suggestions for beers when we have some undecided friends.

The location is good. Street parking but have never parked further than 1 block away. Plenty of seating inside and out. I love their patio, I have never felt forgotten when out there. The small bar in the back is my fave when inside, not usually crowded and the last 2 times, the bartender has been super funny. They have TVs in every room, as many places, 1st come 1st choice.

Not a fancy place but good food and plenty of TVs to watch the game.

How do I love thee, Cherry Cricket, let me count the ways....

1. Your attendants always request to see my ID, and at 32, even if they ask everybody, and even if it is a pain to wrangle it out of my wallet, the ego boost is always great.

2. Strongbow is one of the many beers on your menu.

3. You serve the best burger in Denver. It's juicy, it's seasoned, it's always cooked to please and it comes in a 1/3 lb size ("Little Cricket"), which is perfect for me (though it also comes in larger sizes for those who prefer).

4. Frings. Even typing the word is enough to induce salivation. The combo of seasoned fries and perfectly fried onion rings gets me every time.

5. Your atmosphere is cozy and homey, and is miles away from the typical Cherry Creek experience (which I also happen to enjoy; I simply appreciate that you are different).

My heart pitter patters when I think of you!

Built to order... they have pretty much anything you can think of to top your burger with. At first, it can be daunting, but after a couple of visits, I've learned to appreciate it.

My first try at it, I had a burger with hot jack, grilled mushrooms and onions. I added some salt to my burger to give it some flavor. All in all, it was pretty good, but nothing special. My second trip, I had a burger with jalapeno and cream cheese, and that seemed to be an even better combo. Any suggestions for a third attempt to get this place beyond 3 stars for the food?

What upped this place to a possible 3.5 in my book was the decent selection of local brews. The staff was pretty helpful about suggesting local beers in lieu of some of my favorites. But the service varied each time I went. Sometimes the staff was friendly, other times not. But I couldn't deny every server's ability to hold 10 trays of food all up their arms. Pretty impressive.

So how cool is the Cherry Cricket? It's so cool that it didn't even compete in the recent DenverBurgerBattle: http://www.denverburgerb….

Regardless of this aloof fail, it's still got one of the better burgers in town, and certainly, one of the better draft beer menus to go along with them. Also love their f'rings basket.

And quite the place to be on a Saturday night, hob-nobbin' with the chi-chi in Cherry Creek, flashing waiting buzzer supplied (so you can window shop the local storefronts), and not miss your names being called, and an old next-door-neighbor liquor shop that's been there for the last 50 gazillion years. Ummmmm. ummmm. Good.
