Upon walking into City Cafe with some co-workers the first thing that I noticed was a sticker on the door that said, "Keep Louisville Weird." Â I hoped that meant that I would encounter the kind of high quality food and service that movement usually prides themselves on. Â I ordered the sandwich of the month which was a chicken sandwich. Â It normally comes with bacon. Â Since they seemed fairly vegetarian friendly I asked if they had turkey bacon or a bacon substitute and they did not so I got it without the bacon as I'm not a pork eater (I'm not deducting stars for that, just mentioning it as a FYI). Â When I got the sandwich it was just okay. Â It was advertised as having an aioli but what it came with was more like a spicy salad dressing than an aioli. Â The sandwich didn't have any lettuce, tomato, etc. Â It was just chicken, aioli, cheese, and bread (normally bacon as well). Â It really seemed like it lacked substance. Â
The real problem came when I decided to go back up to the counter and order a chai latte before we departed to go back to the office. Â I clearly said "chai latte" to the woman at the register. Â She charged me for a chai. Â Then I noticed that the woman who was making the drinks was pulling coffee ingredients. Â So, when she handed me my drink I said, "this is a Chai right?" and she said "yes". Â I smelled it and it smelled like coffee. Â I took a taste and it was coffee. Â I told her that it was not Chai and was in fact coffee. Â She just said "Oh" and then went about remaking me a Chai. Â However, when she finally did hand me a Chai it was only half full of tea and was half foam. Â Overall this was just a really disappointing experience and not one that I would be particularly eager to repeat. Â I definatly wouldn't order another Chai from them again.
