Joe's Crab Shack

Locals love this place because they motivated us to travel downtown for dinner. There must have been a school day off because the place was swarming and packed with youth and children. Periodically the manager played current pop songs and the entire restaurant of kids would get up on the chairs and dance. While entertaining, it was very, very noisy. I had the cajole seafood platter which was appropriately spicy and hot. I might come again but this next time I will call ahead.

We have eaten here multiple times. It is hard to get good seafood in the Louisville area. We always have fun at Joe's especially when we eat out on the deck and watch the boats(and sometimes hot air balloons) go by.  There is always plenty left over to bring home in a "doggie" bag to enjoy later. We usually go for lunch now that we have kids so, it is not as crowded or rowdy as it might be for dinner.
So far have never been disappointed.

We happened to be in downtown Louisville & decided to eat at Joes Crab Shack. We've been here many times & have never been disappointed; nor have we been overwhelmed   Food is good but not great.  A tad over-priced but I guess you pay for the river front location.  They weren't busy at all - a Thursday afternoon around 2pm. Our server was much too friendly & told us much more than we needed to know about her life.  If I had a choice of a seafood restaurant in Louisville that is on the river I would choose Joes over Kingfish any day of the week - even if Kingfish were giving away free food.
