We attended the Food Truck Ruckus on June 18 to finally get a chance to try some of the new food trucks that are popping up around the city. Of the 5 options that were available, we decided to try Morels because of the combination of a short/quickly moving line, and they weren't sold out of anything on the menu yet.
Neither the hubs or I are vegan, but we were intrigued by the offerings of the truck. We ordered the banh-mi hot dog, and the Korean bratwurst to split and share (with the no-chicken salad sliders as the other option we didn't pick).
The banh-mi hotdog was small, the bun soft, and it was topped with a slaw of carrot, radish, and not-overpowering cilanto, with a spicy mayo squiggle. I admit it was my first banh-mi-style sandwich, and I was happy to have it. The flavors blended well, but I could've done with a little more punch. The Korean brat was giant compared to the hot dog, I couldn't even fit my whole mouth around it. It was a meatless brat topped with kimchi and a sweet/spicy sauce. This had a lot more flavor than the banh-mi and was my hubs' fave of the two.
We enjoyed our meatless sausages while sitting on a haystack and sipping on a Radler (so excited to see the beer and lemonade combo outside of Germany!).
I've heard rumors of a killer buffalo chicken wrap from the truck. One thing - I'd be interested in seeing more bean or legume-based dishes instead of the mock-meat. That being said, if I see the truck around town, I'd definitely be interested checking them out again!
