This place has the potential to be so much more, but in reality the only reason you would go here is to sit on the rooftop bar/patio. Â Very cool open area with a bar, multiple firepits, fans/heaters, and a ton of TV's. Â They were very busy while we were there, but the service was pretty good. Â Where they let you down is the food and prices are a bit high. Â The sandwich I had was completely forgettable and average at best. Â Do yourself a favor, eat before you go, pick a beautiful day and sit up top and enjoy.
Review Source:Coach's is quickly becoming one of my new favorite spots! The service is friendly (my boyfriend has a theory that they only hire pretty waitresses as a strategy, for whatever that's worth LOL), and the food is never short of fantastic.
But, 2 of the big things I LOVE here are the awesome drink specials and the incredibly nice rooftop deck/bar, making this place a new favorite hang-out amongst not only my social circle (mid to late 20's), but even my parents, too! (late early 40's to late 60's, and it seems to cater to all age groups and types inbetween, too!)
This place is great if you're looking for a nice meal or even just a place to grab some drinks with the crew. No matter what the circumstances are, if you're going to Coach's, you'll probably have a great time!
I've been here a few times and never had a bad experience. Good food (except the wings - not for me) and very good service. The layout is split into two main areas and two smaller side areas. So you can get different atmospheres in the same place. Nice waitresses and bartenders. There was even some beefcake bartenders for those so inclined.
Table shuffle board if you're into that. I think that's what it's called anyway.
The service has always been very good to excellent. Last time I was there, we walked in and were looking around and immediately a passing waitress asked "Can I help you find a place to sit?" and went out of her way. She sat us and two different servers asked us if we needed anything. Our main server was great. The food and drinks were good and priced at about the standard.
I really don't like their wings. They're small and breaded and got soggy. And there was way too much Tobasco. It's a small thing, but I love wings so I'm dinging them there. Otherwise, a great bar and grill.
This place should change it's name to Romper Room. Â You would think that since it has "bar" in it's name that it would deter people from bringing their kids, but that's far from the truth. Â There are kids everywhere, and parents who don't supervise them. Â I have had kids crawling under my table while drinking with friends and trying to watch a game on tv.
The rooftop deck is great when it's kid free. Â It can be a relaxing place to watch a game. Â Coach's does need to upgrade to LCD tv's though. Â The glare is horrible on the deck from the sun. The food is decent and service is ok. Â They have decent happy hour specials.
I would like to go back to Coach's, but I prefer places where there aren't children yelling and running all around. Â It's been like this on more than one occasion.
My wife & I have been wanting to eat at this new location for some time- especially the outdoor roof patio! On a whim last night we decided to try it just for some drinks. The hostess was friendly & seated us right away. Our experience went downhill from there. Our server was a young college-age woman; fairly friendly but only checked on us 2-3 times. We ended up ordering two appetizers: fried mushrooms and fried mozarella sticks. The cheese sticks were great but the mushrooms were burnt and tasted horrible. We only ate one each yet the waitress didn't notice or say anything about the nearly full plate at the end of our meal. Obviously we should've said something but didn't. My wife had their house Chardonnay and the White Sangria- both were really good. I had a Woodchuck Hard Cider and a bottle of Stella. Overall it was mediocre experience however we will definitely give this place a second chance especially considering the other very positive reviews!
Review Source:The food was decent, about what you would expect for a bar and grill. Â Nothing particularly special. The service was pretty poor the night we were there. We sat at our table for 10 minutes and no one offered to take our orders. We eventually asked the bartender, who helped. We were served by three different people during our visit. I'm not sure how you end up short-staffed on a Saturday night. Â The only thing that really stood out for me was the second-level outdoor patio ... fire pits, heating lamps, patio furniture, etc. Â It created a very nice atmosphere on a chilly spring evening.
I would probably go back for drinks on the patio but the food and service alone probably would not bring me back. Â 2.5 stars.
Horrible Service! Â Waited 25 minutes for this waitress to come over finally had to go to the bar myself to get served...The staff acts like they are doing you a favor by serving you... Very rude and obnoxious not to mention average at best bar food for such a beautiful looking establishment. Â The place looks like a palace for a sports bar but since the food is sooo marginal and the staff is a joke I will never go back and would steer friends in another direction.
Review Source:My husband and I have been long-time patrons of the Coach's in Missouri on 103rd. We have been wanting to try this new Coach's which is close to our house, but the last time we went it was a basketball Saturday night and the wait was 90 minutes for a table. We got in last Friday night with a 20 minute wait at the bar and it was worth the short wait.
First of all, the hostess was delightful. Sometimes these sports bars have mute or useless hostesses, but she was very personable when I asked the wait-time, suggested that I check out upstairs to see if we could sit at the bar (it was full also) but I ended up hovering (no, not stalking) behind two people leaving the bar downstairs and snagged their seats. Then, when my husband came in from parking the car, she asked him if he was looking for Beth (name I gave, but she actually put 2 and 2 together?) and told him I was at the bar. That gets an extra star right there.
I was thinking about trying the Boulevard IPA as I am trying to branch out in 2012 and try new things. The bartender heard me discussing this with hubby and she offered me a taste. Good thing, cause I didn't like it. I got my usual unfiltered wheat. Husband ordered a  bourbon and coke. Only negative of the night - he got a jack daniels and coke. Evidently, that happens to him occasionally at various bars. He could have said something, but didn't. No big deal.
Before I continue, I want to talk about the upstairs. It is a small bar (seats about 10-12) and has garage doors that will come up in the summer for the patio which is basically the entire top floor. It is completely non-smoking!!! Woo-hoo!!! Sorry, smokers, but I am tired of having my outdoor patio experience marred with your cigarette smoke. There is a sign that says the entire Coach's facility is non-smoking. If you want to smoke, go outside the front door. Another extra star for that.
We were seated at our table and we had a great waitress. The prices for food at this Coach's are about a dollar or so more than at the Missouri location. That's what we get for living in JoCo. I had the chicken pecan salad which was huge, very fresh and yummy. I'm not a big Honey-Dijon dressing fan (but yes, I did try it) but it was warm, so if you liked it, that would make the salad even better. My husband got the fried chicken livers and a side salad. Side salad was good sized (mounded in bowl) and the livers were crisp. "Just like the Missouri Coach's", he said.
Also, don't forget that this is a KC Originals restaurant. Get those points and support our local restaurants!!
My husband went back with our son this week for Taco Tuesday and they sat at a booth, which has its own private tv. They really liked that also.
So, if you want a good sports bar experience with good food, I highly recommend this place. Also, I noticed they have the 2-4-1 drink special all day on Wednesdays that they have weekdays from 3-7 at the Missouri restaurant. Great deal! See you on the patio this summer!
I'm giving 3 stars for my recent visit. Â Overall atmosphere is great, but I was just disappointed in what there served me. Â Do not order the chicken finger as you will be disappointed like others before me. Â Being new to this restaurant, and haven eating similar food on there menu, I figure I try something different and order the chicken finger with fries. Â First of all, the portion was ridiculously small. Â To compliment that, Â they also gave me kids size portion of French fries!
Review Source:Coach's has moved. Â They were on Metcalf between 151st and 143rd. Â Now they are next to the baseball fields and soccer complex on 135th behind the Ritz Charles. Â This is a bit of an odd location as it is not exactly on any street at all. Â It is tucked in the middle of several major streets.
I like Coach's it is a nice sports bar. Â The new location is going to have a patio deck when the weather gets a bit nicer. Â I had a simple lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup. Â I have to say this was perfect comfort food. Â I was not feeling 100% and this hit the spot. Â I give it four stars.
Our server and bartender were good, but not great. Â We had to do a bit of prompting to get drinks and whatnot. Â But, it was not a horrible experience by any stretch of the imagination. Â I give the service three and a half stars.
I have to say the large beer does not appear so large. Â It is served in a plastic cup versus a glass, which the smaller beer is served in. Â I prefer beer in a glass, but cups are fine. Â There just seems to be a need to have more size distinction. Â I'm sure it is a spacial illusion between the two cups, but they just seem about the same when you eyeball them. Â The beer selection is not so great on tap. Â This I am surprised by. Â I would have expected a much larger array of taps to choose from at the bar. Â I give the beer selection three stars. Â It is a-ok.
The new venue is nice, the food is good, the TV viewing is very good. Â There are table games, including a very nice shuffle board. Â
I give Coach's four stars.
The service is always good. I have only had the burgers and chicken and they are good, but not in the great category....but hey...it's a bar and you are probably there for the Sports on TV (which there are plenty of) and a few beers with some elbow room. The pool tables and games provide an alternative when you team is getting embarrased. Good atmoshphere and a good choice.
