Went on a Sunday morning, they were quick, the food was fine, staff was polite. The food wasn't anything I'd go out of my way for, but it was pretty good AND it was fast. The coffee was good and they were well stocked on milk and cream. It was also easy to find a table, they have lots of them.
Review Source:I usually only write reviews when I've been overly impressed by someone or something...but...I hate this Corner Bakery. Â I hate it!
Why do you keep eating there then, idiot? Â Well, because I work nearby (at a hotel, cough, corner bakery I know you won't read this but I do NOT send our guests to you anymore) and only have 30 minutes total for lunch. Â Everything else takes too long, and as much as I love Chipotle (see my review on Chipotle amazing customer service)...they don't have much of a variety to keep me entertained all week long. Â But every single time I come back from lunch there I vent with my coworkers about how it's awful and we all swear to never go back. Â Then we do. Â But here's why I hate it.
1) Customer service is non-existent. Â Cashiers literally will see you waiting in line by yourself and keep chatting with each other. Â I have to ask to be helped. Â This happens almost every time! Â If you are not a cashier, then simply tell me someone will be right with me....that way I won't start raging in my head before I even order. Â When I am helped, they are straight up rude half the time or have no idea how to ring things up. Â I have worked in restaurants, DMVs, hotels -- I know how to be quick and to the point. Â I do not make special requests. Â I seriously order macaroni with bacon and tomatoes and somehow they can turn this into a negative experience. Â They ask me what size I want and then charge me for the wrong size. Â They ask me if I'll have anything else, (all while making no eye contact), and then a few seconds later ask me if I'll have anything else. Â I'll tell them no both times. Â Every time I order it seems like it's the first time my cashier has ever rung anyone up.
2) Â Plastic utensils. Â Half of the time they bring me plastic utensils. Â Seriously? Â Do not bring me plastic utensils when I know that's not protocol for dining in. Â Half of the time they bring napkins and half of the time they bring none. Â Half of the time my same exact meal comes in a bowl, and half the time it comes on a plate. Â The breadsticks are either burnt or they are barely cooked. Â Sometimes they are different shapes. Â Many times my food is not even hot. Â
3) Â The seating. Â They have a revolving door which is great. Â They have another door off Michigan which, when opened, blows all the napkins and everything off all the tables and freezes everyone out in the winter. Â Every bleeping time.
4) Â Overpriced. Â It's just overpriced.
5) Â The food IS OKAY. Â It's not bad food. Â So -- I can't complain there...and it's why I keep going. Â Ugh. Â
9 out of 10 people that work at this Corner Baker need to be eliminated. Â I know the job probably sucks. Â I, too, have had crappy jobs where I don't get paid enough to care about the customer. Â But you MUST PRETEND. Â I literally am giving two stars just because I assume I will have a horrible experience with AWFUL food someday, and I'll save it for that. Â This is just a horrible experience with OKAY food. Â Congratulations!?? Â
And Corner Baker Associates, if you hate your job that much, go apply at Chipotle. Â Seriously they are all super friendly, so it must be a good place to work.
A lot of mixed reviews. I was hear really early on Sunday morning and it was peaceful and quiet. I ordered the thin panini breakfast with smoked bacon and a side of steel cut oatmeal and a coffee. All of it was great. The thin panini was almost too tiny to hold, but it was good. Came with a side of salsa.
