Why do I like this place?
    (I've only been here twice)
Why was I drawn to this place?
    (Close to the Buelle)
Was it for the good food?
(The burger was so tasty and cooked to perfection)
Was it because it has a cool, cozy atmosphere?
(It is really cool...even a touch romantic)
Was it for the wine and beer selection?
(I had a very nice Tempranillo)
Hmm...I think I answered my own questions.

Was having a nice time until a manager yelled at a trainee on how to pour a drink correctly and said you need to be better prepared for the "Asian faggots" who come in after plays

Fair brunch, standard fare, attention to detail could be better

Had an amazing dinner last night. The service was great as well. The Sugar Mama Martini rocked so let go to the food!! It started with the supplì al telefono, 2 perfect fried balls of yumminess. I HATE olives and the tapenade was wonderful with the short rib cheese balls.

After that was the Beef carpaccio on a bed of polenta. I did wish there was a little less polenta but it was wonderfully flavored. This also came with a duck confit cracker thingy and it was steller! I've never had any form of duck confit and this was decident.

A bowl of mussles off the 52.80 menu (not the regular one) stole the night. They were cooked in coconut milk, thai chilies, and so much love, that the seared chiabata slices jumped into the sauce on their own and in my mounth. If we weren't in the restaurant I would have slurped up every bit of the coconut sauce. Did I mention that the mussels were perfectly cooked.

The Ramen, the egg, the salty pork and the green in this soup were so full of flavor.

Lastly, the cheese cake and cherries with the lemon sourbet, again awesome!! I was born and raised in Ny and have had my fair share of Ny cheese cake. This one blew them all out of the Atlantic. It was heaven! Chef Richie Byers rocked it again and again and again! By far some of the best food I have ever eaten and we can't wait to go back to Denver to get more awesome eats!!

I've been here a couple of times for happy hour, and did not eat, so cannot comment on the menu.  Service was OK (served our first drinks quickly but not particularly attentive afterwards).  Each time I've been here, the staff were just standing around having loud conversations with each other which seemed a little weird given the ambiance they are trying to pull off.  I would have like to have seen a bigger draft selection, but can't complain about their prices for happy hour so I'll settle for what they've got.  Suitable enough as a place to meet up with friends before continuing on elsewhere.

The martinis were good, but my orange chicken was just OK. The local Chinese delivery place has better orange chicken at half the price. Overall, I thought everything was over-priced.

Service has certainly gone up a notch.
We went in the fall again for an event. The back room was secluded from the rest of the restaurant and our server was excellent. He did a great job circulating and bringing in drinks to the guests. The desserts we ordered were excellent as well. Little cheesecakes with Italian old-fashioned real maraschino cherries, creme brulee, and cakes were all excellent. The drinks were a good pour too, strong, and well mixed. I think The Corner Office has really stepped it up a notch.

    Verdict: getting better with time!

This review is for Happy Hour only.

I went with my roommate (female) at ~5pm on a Monday night. HH goes until 6pm.

    THE VIBE
The Corner Office seems to be the sort of place young professionals hang out after their young professional work hours with their other young professional friends. It's definitely got this metropolitan look with some fun quirky accents to keep the place young. It's not your grandpa's martini bar.

    THE DRINKS
The martinis are great. So is the rum punch. They also have great craft beer on tap and what seems to be a decent wine list, though I have thus far stuck with the hard liquor.

    THE FOOD
The happy hour menu is very tapas-like with many small offerings from which to choose. I filled up on the pork belly slider, fries, and ceviche. The cuisine ranges from spanish to asian to coastal mexican to american pub burgers. There's definitely a taste for everyone. Most plates are $3-6, but you'll probably want at least two.

    THE SERVICE

We sat in the lounge area and felt very well taken care of. There's also a bar and some high tops. I think it's pretty well staffed between 3-6pm, but I'm guessing it can get packed if there's something going on at the convention center or opera house.

    RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ladykiller Martini ($5 on HH) - sweet and tart
Sweet Potato Fries ($3 on HH) - come with mustard sauce that's also good on the...
Pork Belly Slider ($3 on HH) - nice piece of pork belly with a brioche bun. Needs a bit more flavor, but the mustard delivers there.

Check out the ladies room, ladies. There's a disco ball and a post it wall. After a few martinis, I could be persuaded to hold a dance party there.

Discovered The Corner Office's late night Happy Hour and have turned from a frien-emy (see prior review) to a big HH fan. Was out late with my honey last night catchin' up on seeing the Oscar noms and we didn't have time for dinner between shows. We tried a couple of places downtown, but their kitchens were already closed. Then my little angel muffin suggested we try TCO, and dbl bingo! Even on Sunday night their kitchen was open late, and the food and the drinks were rockingly cheap and good. With a generous tip, we were outta there all alcohol-ed and carb-ed up for $30. Talk about a great find . . . Yahoooo!

I returned to the Office for a Saturday dinner service and must say the regular menu was much better than my previous happy hour outing. I highly recommend the fish tacos and the cuban sandwich is very good. The pork rilletes is a delightful find in Denver, but needs a richer pork flavor.

Jerome, the manager, really went out of his way to improve my return experience and it was greatly appreciated.

My experience here started off on a sour note: I called ahead to see if there was room at the bar, and was told we'd be able to get a seat. We were there in less than five minutes, only to find that there was most definitely not room anywhere and since everyone had drinks and food I'm almost positive there hadn't been room a few minutes before when I called. I told the hostess that we wouldn't be long (since we were going to see a show and had to be out in an hour) and asked if we could have a seat at one of the many empty tables. She said no: they were for reservations. I've been a hostess and I get that you're supposed to "save" the tables for later reservations, but if someone tells you that they will absolutely be out in an hour, then really what's the harm when there are so many empty tables? And just for the record, all of those tables were empty when we got there and they were still empty when we left, so I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have messed up any reservations. But I digress. The drinks and drink specials were awesome, but the food itself was just alright. The menu is VERY eclectic. I'm all about variety, but something about having shrimp and grits, tikka masala, mussels, street tacos, and ramen all on your menu is just a little odd...how can you possibly manage to do such a variety of food well? The food was mediocre at best. Go for drinks, take advantage of the specials, but don't expect to be wowed by the food or to get a seat .

Great location across the street from DCPA! They have the perfect happy hour special, $5 burgers. The burgers are very tasty. Drinks are great as well. Love the retro decor.

This review is based only on my experience at the bar and the food/drinks served there.

We were there for drinks while watching a football game.  I was hungry and ordered the following:
    - Chips & Salsa: Delicious, but the salsa is a bit on the spicier side.
    - House Made Quinoa + Garbanzo Veggie Burger: 5 stars for this burger....its super delicious.  I have never had such a delectable quinoa burger.  I would eat here just for this burger.

The bartender was very friendly and provided great service.  Loved this place.

30-something clientelle for the most part, well-dressed and in a hurry. Barmen are hard-working and skilled. Bar menu is pretty good. They make a decent martini here.

I ate dinner here one night and had a reasonably good hamburger and a huge pile of fries. I also ate breakfast here and though the service was good, the breakfast was quite ordinary for the price, and the coffee not very good. I like the Hotel Curtis but I think I'll skip this place next time, just because it's so hip it hurts.

Solid 4 stars while sitting at the bar.  Only here for drinks and to watch the game so can't tell you about the rest.  Started with a Guinness that was "off".  Mentioned it to the bartender and he pulled a couple to test, agreed that something was not right and pulled the pint from my tab no questions asked.  Staying at the Curtis, so this is easier than walking in the cold to find a bar and now I know it was a good choice.

Tried the spring rolls to give me something to go along with the beer I know I'll be consuming tonight.

Vote - 5 stars on the spring rolls!

Not sure what others that rated this as a 2-3 star establishment are bitching about but likely the  problems are they were in a hurry (read as didn't plan their time correctly before a show) and expecting hand over fist service when the place is likely packed (because of said show/event across the street).  I had a great time and outstanding service while sitting at the bar.

Pretentious feeling?  Check!  Pricey for what it is?  Perhaps.  Perfectly located for a quick pre-DCPA nosh and drink?  HELLO!  I like the Corner Office because of all of those reasons.  As the Beautiful Ms. D has recently been telling me, it seems that all of our meals out have lately been to places that are, how to put it diplomatically... dives.  Every now and  again, it is nice to feel part of the upper-echelons, and the Corner Office provides.  With great happy hour specials, a friendly staff, tasty foods and good drinks, what is not to love about coming here, especially prior to a show?

I've yet to eat here (other than the cotton candy) but the martini's are fun and damned potent. My only complaint is that they're a bit pricey. Otherwise, I've had great service and found the environment (especially Friday nights) to be fun and entertaining.

This restaurant is in a prime location right across the street from the DCPA. That is the only reason I can think of for its continued existence. I've been here maybe five times and the service has been ghastly each time, and all of the surprises have been unpleasant ones. (Before you call me a masochist, four of those times I have been dragged there by curious friends.)

There are a dozen better restaurants with a block or two of this place. Let's all vote with our dollars and see if the free market can come up with a better use of this prime location.

If I remember correctly this was inside of a Hyatt hotel or some other hotel. I was in town for the Emergency Medicine conference and needed some good ole waffles. $8 for Belgian waffles? I think IHOP makes better waffles but it was quick so I couldn't complain.

I arranged for a group of 10 to have drinks and appis at this venue prior to an early evening event at DCPA. When I called to confirm the rezo, I was told we would be in the dining room, as there was a large group of 100 booked for the bar area for happy hour and no room for us in front. I asked if we would still be able to use the happy hour menu and was told we could not.

When I spoke to a manager politely about this, she was very curt and told me that under no circumstances do they make an exception and that we would not be able to have happy hour unless we were in the bar--which was unavailable. I asked her is she was going to turn away the business of 10 people over a few discounted martinis--and she replied that they would not make this exception--even if it was because they had booked the space.

I'm an event planner in Denver. Rarely have I seen such disregard for an organized group--especially when the reservation was made far in advance. The manager was rude and extremely passive aggressive. My party doesn't need happy hour prices--it's the principal at this point. I won't be going back to The Corner Office. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone after my experience.

Plus, I've been there before; the food's not that great and it's overpriced. The ONLY thing it has going for it is it's location to DCPA.

Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Corridor 44 is a much better way to prep for a big night out at the DCPA with friends.

I was not impressed with the corner office. For one, their decor was tacky and bizarre.
Most importantly, the service was terrible. My boyfriend and I decided to go here because we had a ticket to a play and was told that we would receive a free drink with proof of a ticket. The bartender refused to take our ticket voucher. We decided to pay for our drinks and I sat down at a table by the bar. The waitress asked me what my order was and I informed her that we had ordered at the bar. She asked us to move to the bar because she wanted to make tips. I was a little surprised that service could actually be that bad

When we arrived I had high hopes for The Corner Office. Upon sitting down our waiter asked if we were seeing a show at the DCPA (and we were), so it seemed like he understood we were on a schedule.

I started with the bottomless mimosas with cranberry instead of OJ - they were great. I really wish I could have taken advantage of the deal a little more, but our waiter just wasn't on top of it. For an entree I ordered the crab cake benedict. When it arrived it LOOKED gorgeous, but it wasn't even lukewarm and the hollandaise had so much lemon my mouth puckered a bit. Strangely, the red potatoes that came with the dish were scalding hot. I should have sent it back but...gah...I just hate doing that.

Our waiter never came to see how the food was and was slow-going with all the drinks...and when we needed it, the check.

There were several things on the menu I'd like to try and the Corner Office has a great location and atmosphere. I'll definitely go back in the hopes of  throwing some more stars their way. I just hope the next time I check it out the service is better.

The decor is lovely and reminiscent of a posh NYC lounge, but it was too expensive for me to ever go again. We came for happy hour, couldn't find a table designated for said happy hour, and were forced to be seated with the full menu.

Our waiter was sweet and helpful, but the food wasn't anything to write home about, and my bloody mary would rank in my -bottom- three ever. That's a recipe for me to not return, sorry!

To eat before the show, or after?  Well let's see, coming down right after work, with a friend that has an infant at home, needed a break, but is tired all the time -- I think before. We chose the Corner Office because of it's proximity to the DCPA, but I have to admit that I was a little worried about dining at a nice sit-down place ... it had taken us longer than expected to make the trek from NoCo and we needed to pick-up our tickets during a specific window before the show.  My worry was completely unfounded -- these folks cater to the theater crowd really well.

Among other things, they offer a 3-course prix fixe theater menu that changes monthly, styled after the Denver Restaurant Week's 5280 program ($52.80 for two, or $26.50 for one).  I didn't partake since I was worried about time, but as it was our meals came out so swiftly I think the theater menu would have worked -- definitely something I would like to try in the future.

Our server was great ... he put up with my picky questions about the ramen (I appreciate modern takes on Asian classics, but for ramen at its core the noodles had better have the right toothsome quality and the broth had better be good enough to want to pick up the bowl and drink it), then steered me toward the shrimp & grits.  Now, I'm no expert in Southern comfort food, but I loved this dish.  The grits were more refined than I've encountered elsewhere, more like a soft polenta.  The tomato-based sauce was replete with diced vegetables that reminded me of mirepoix except that it hadn't been cooked down to a mushy oblivion.  Topping it all off, in addition to perfectly-cooked shrimp/prawns, were a handful of mussels and a luscious piece of pork belly.  Yum.

I think this place is destined to become my go-to spot for theater dining.

I went in for Disco Brunch. The whole staff did a good job dressing for it so that was fun!

I ordered Chicken and waffles and the Bottomless Mimosas. The Chicken and waffles were ehhhhh, bottomless Mimosas were refreshing. Our server Noah did an excellent job making sure to get ours refilled as soon as they ran out. If you go in make sure you have Noah as your server!

I've been here on three different occassions.  Once for lunch.  Once for happy hour.  Then once for a party my company threw.

Lunch was great as was happy hour.  They have great happy hour specials on both food and drinks.

For the company function they really did a great job.  There was a hiccup to begin....they didn't have the whole space set up that I reserved but after pulling out my trusty contract they realized their mistake and got on fixing it.  Everybody was very pleased with the event and I would definitely come here again for an event if budget wasn't an issues.

Really this is a 2.5 star kind of place. I don't need a snooty employee to site Colorado law AT me regarding distance one can stand from the door while smoking. A simple, "the patio is nonsmoking," would suffice. Less than impressed.

The late night happy hour (9pm-close) after a show at the DCPA can't be beat! Yummy little snacks and inexpensive drinks hit the spot after a few hours of theatrical entertainment. The place isn't overcrowded which is always a good thing. I really dig the dark, intimate lighting as well.

The standard happy hour (3-6pm) is not as much fun. First, peeps who work till 5pm have little time to get any kind of HH special. Plus, the place is so crowded at this time you're lucky to even find a spot to stand. This makes getting to the bar to order before 6pm an ordeal I would much rather pass on.

There are a few nice selections of beer. Any place that has a classic PBR in a can isn't all bad in my book.

Can't say I've had any of the main course meals here but at least most of the male employees are cute. Calls em like I sees em.

Really didn't appreciate the pipsqueak server guy saying with such great confidence that "oh, there's no seasonal on tap" when we asked... because when passing the bar to the restroom I noticed there was a New Belgium seasonal, and I confirmed it was up and running.  If you're ignorant, just admit it.  Don't lie.

Veggie burger and sweet potato fries were fairly good.  Beer selection is slightly below average for Denver area.  Prices reasonable for what we ordered.  Great corner location.

In my line of work, I always miss happy hour.  I'm never off before 7:00pm so I'm forced to look longingly at all of those people having fun and enjoying half price cocktails.  Well not anymore.  Imagine my surprise when I walked into the Corner Office and the hostess announced that they were having happy hour...at 9:00pm on a Saturday!  Music to my ears, as I'd just left work.

Not only do they have happy hour, it's a pretty good one too.  This place offers a selection of their regular menu items at half price.  My burger was $5 and the best I can remember having for some time.  I love that they offer more options than your usual bar snacks.  My friends and I were able to eat a full dinner just off of the happy hour menu.  They have a pretty good variety of drinks as well.

My only complaint is that I ordered a Bombay Sapphire straight up and they put vermouth in it.  It seems so simple just to pour the alcohol in a glass but everyone seems to want to add vermouth.  They're not the only ones who do it.  It's crazy, but not a deal breaker.  I will be back in a heartbeat after work.

Thanks Corner Office for tending to my happy hour needs!

I'm a sucker for dim lighting & a trendy atmosphere.
I'm a sucker for close seating arrangements making you feel the need to sit closer to your date.
I'm a sucker for all different kinds of drinks, local beer & liquors.
I'm a sucker for cheap drinks [on happy hour].

I was in town for a conference at the Colorado Convention Center and stopped in since this was just down the street. Dinner was great! I got a fixed price menu option that offered an app, entree and dessert for $26. Not bad at all, considering most of the entrees alone are around $20.

I had a salad with goat cheese and candied walnuts to start. It was delicious and beautifully presented - the lettuce was sort of stacked to make a cup that held the nuts and cheese. Cute!

For my entree, I chose the beef bourguignon, which was very tasty and nicely done. It was a pretty good-sized serving so I couldn't finish it all.

For dessert I had the only option on the fixed price menu, a sponge cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry jam. It was just ok. It was cold and a little dry - it tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge. But still tasty.

Inside, the restaurant is nicely decorated and has a modern, funky atmosphere. The menu has some fun options like cotton candy and lobster mac & cheese. Service was impeccable. I appreciated that the waiter brought me new cutlery twice when the dirty cutlery was bussed. Too often you're left hanging or they put your dirty silverware back on the table to keep. So, it was a small touch, but appreciated.

Overall, I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

How fun does disco brunch sound?  And bottomless mimosas?  It's always 5:00 somewhere, hellloooo!

I was uber excited to try TCO, but maybe the experience would've been better had we just hopped in for late night drinks.  My chicken and waffles were pretty lackluster.  Dry is the first descriptor that comes to mind.  I had to ask the waitress to bring some syrup to drizzle over my dish.  Most of the chicken was dark meat, so I wished there were more of the white variety.

Overall, it was the weakest meal of the trip, so if you give this joint a try (I inadvertently typed dry at first.  See?  Dry is on the mind!), including alchy might liven things up!

A truly fabulous happy hour that I would love to attend again.  Drinks are at great prices at $5, and the food around $5 as well.  The sweet potato fries are super delicious and I wish I had ordered two servings instead of one, but my palate wanted to savor the flavors of other dishes.  The Corner Office burger that was ordered came with a thick patty cooked to specification, however mine was a little flavorless but another party member's burger was flavorful.

Our server that night from 9pm-12am was on her A game because my soda glass was refilled promptly without ever having to ask for refills and the frequency of attentiveness was spot on just right.  The Corner office is a really nice place to take out of town folks.  The restaurant is something I'll have to try at another time.

Happy Hour in the lounge area, and the outside patio for people watching on 14th st. 3-6pm 9-close. Lots of appetizers $3-5 each. I recommend $6 Maker's Dozen if you like Manhattan or Old fashioned.

Located in the Curtis Hotel and great place to drink before the show.

The Corner Office is prime location for any night you're headed to the DCPA.  In fact, it's usually where I end up eating before I head over to a DCPA event.

This last time I had the shrimp and grits.  The shrimp were huge and tasty while the grits creamy and delicious.  I also had a great divide beer, which is always awesome when they carry local stuff.  All the food I've had here has always been good, but a little over priced.  I have to remind myself I'm paying a premium for the location.

Overall the food is above average and you can't beat the location if you're headed to the DCPA.

I went here on the recommendation of a friend.  The chef is a mutual friend.
This place has a unique atmosphere, very art-deco look, and not too loud at all.
The parking sucks, but that's downtown Denver's issue.
I had the lobster mac & cheese, and it was spectacular.  My friend had the steak frites, which also looked very good.
The chef came out and introduced himself (because he's a friend of a friend - don't expect this), and later he brought out an assortment of the best desserts I have ever had.
I'm not sure what's on the menu, but I strongly suggest the cannoli, dulce de leche cheesecake, and the creme brulee plate, which has 3-4 different goodies on it.
I want to come back here and try some appetizers, different entree, etc.  I think they have a lot to offer.

Came here with some lovely Yeeps for pre-theater happy hour and I really enjoyed it.

I had the Ladykiller for my drink and a Pork Belly Slider and a Cheeseburger Slider minus the super sauce and pickle and added ketchup and mustard. I also shared an order of Sweet Potato Fries with the group.

The Ladykiller was wonderful: Skyy Citrus, Lemoncello, Blood Orange and Prosecco, what's not to love? The sliders and sweet potato fries were tasty and just enough of a nosh before the show.  I also tried a bite of the Mediterranean Hummus which another person in our party ordered. It was definitely not like any other I've tried: chunky and a bit sweet, but it was good.

Additionally our server was wonderful. She went out of her way to create a space in the bar area for a larger group so we could enjoy happy hour and was very attentive and friendly. The server helping her was a bit confused with getting the food to the right people, but he was still very nice and did get things right in the end.

I will definitely come back here when I have a show at the DPCA and maybe even when I don't.

I just keep wanting to like the Corner office. But they keep beating me with my optimism.

I'll give them the group I was with swelled in size a bit, but still. it wasn't standing room only, and they're across from the Theatre, so should expect crowds.

I almost had to tackle the waitress to get her to take my drink order. It's never a good start when you have to attack someone to give them money.

It of course took a while but that's fine.

Well then we found a seat with a friend and sat down. Apparently in a different server's area. Ok fine that can post challenges i get it. But when we explained that we had moved, he simply walked away and never came back. Good thing I wasn't hungry... wait I was. I was very hungry. I was kill an animal on the street and eat it hungry.

To top it off, it's entirely possible my beer was never paid for. I tried. I asked for a bill. More than once. Frankly though I'm not gonna fight to give you my money. The group we were part of was in chaos bill-wise so someone probably paid for it without knowing or who knows.

At any rate, we've crossed the "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice..." threshold so...

I'm a little torn between three stars v. four based on my first visit here last night.  We came here for a little happy hour event prior to a play.  There wasn't enough room for everybody to sit together, so my two friends and I grabbed a patio table that was open.  The dining room has a nice feel to it, some small tables and a lounge with cushioned chairs and coffee tables, a small but nice looking patio, and conveniently located across from the Denver Performing Arts Center.  We were given water immediately and then sat for a while before someone came by to take our drink order.  Over the course of the next fifteen to twenty minutes, 3 more times people came by to ask if we needed drinks, and we said that we were waiting for them.  This hint didn't get dropped, and we had a long wait to get a cocktail.  We did mange to squeeze in a couple of Happy Hour items one minute before 6 pm.

By this time someone who seemed like the manager began checking on us and making sure we were getting what we needed.  We sampled the fish tacos, the sonoran hot dog, and the pork slider.  These were excellent, especially the slider.  This isn't offered on the regular menu, but upon request, the kitchen did make one more for us after the HH menu was closed, which we very much appreciated.  We ordered one more round, and then needed to head to our play.  Unfortunately, we then had to wait another ten to fifteen minutes to get the check, and asked two different people.

Their happy hour menu is really good!  The food is tasty and affordable and there's quite a variety of choices, which is very refreshing.  The drinks offered looked great, and we went with the Makers Dozen which I highly recommend.

So, the bottom line is that the menu looked awesome and what we tried lived up to this.  The happy hour prices and choices are great.  The beginning and the end of our experience was lacking, it was obvious that they were woefully understaffed for the evening.  Stuff happens, and it's forgivable enough, I'm certainly willing to try it again sometime.  I decided on four stars.
