they were empty which made me nervous. The waiter treated us like a super fine dining establishment and was totally on the ball. Â Props to the waiter for sure.
The food was really fresh and tasty, too. Â hopefully they will stay open long enough to think about expand their menu a bit
I've never written a review for a restaurant before but felt compelled to do so after my experience today. Â I was so excited when I saw that a Vietnamese restaurant opened so close to where I live. Â I absolutely love pho, banh mi, and banh xeo. Â So, today, I went to Cuisine de Saigon for lunch. Â When I walked in, I immediately noticed that the room was really dark and it smelled kind of funny, maybe backed up sewage? Â That didn't stop me from getting my pho fix because, hey, I'm Asian and I've been to my fair share of questionable but delicious eating places. Â The only server on duty greeted me as soon as I walked in and asked if I wanted to sit at one of the tables close to the front windows. Â Unfortunately, all of those tables were dirty from previous customers. Â As I looked around, I noticed that almost all of the other empty tables were full of dirty dishes. Â She gestured to one of the few clean tables in the room and that's where I sat. Â I was disappointed to see that they didn't have a lunch menu. It was either $12 for an entree or $7ish for a small serving of soup. Â I chose the beef pho. Â When the server brought it to my table, it didn't come with the usual plate of basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno pieces, and lime wedges nor bottles of hoisin sauce and sriracha. Â I had to ask her for it. Â Oh, and a glass of water as well. Â And, even after that, I still only got one tiny sprig of basil and no jalapeno. Â The pho was the worst I've ever had. Â Flavorless broth and only three pieces of meat: 2 halves of a chewy meatball and one piece of even chewier flank (at least I think it was flank). Â I had to add a ton of hoisin and sriracha just to make the soup palatable. Â While I was having my pho, I saw the server give the neighboring table free desserts. Â Funny how I never received one. Â Maybe, because I told her that I didn't like my meal.
Do yourself a favor and go to Green Basil or Joy Yee instead.
