I haven't been to the DQ in a looong while, mainly because I never really find myself in that area anymore, but the times I went I was satisfied. Â Believe it or not, I never go there for the cold treats lol, maybe got a blizzard once but I always go for the fried fare. Â I love onion rings, and theirs were acceptable, I love fried chicken anything, so I did dig the strips though I preferred a fresh batch of McD's selects before they got discontinued. Â I love a good burger as well, and the burger was alright, I didn't feel pissed about having ordered it. Â Go here you won't be disappointed but you wont be wowed either, they seem to make your stuff to order since I wait every time I go there, not a bad place for a quick cheap meal.
Review Source:I was excited to have run into a Dairy Queen on my way back home. Â The location looked pretty new, and it was nice having plenty of seating options. Â The staff was friendly, and I appreciated the food being brought out to my table. Â I ordered the 3 for $4 deal, but a few minutes after receiving my order, I realized how small the items were. Â I went up to the counter to add one more item so I could get the 4 for $5, but unfortunately, I couldn't get the item for an additional dollar because my original order was already rung up. Â I asked how much another item would be separately, and it came out to $3! Â Had I known the portion sizes would be that small, I would have just ordered the 4 for $5. Â I don't think this is a staffing problem, but it's something that the corporate office and marketing should work on. Â It's not like I was trying to scam them. Â I already ordered the combo. Â I doubt I'll stop by this particular location again unless I'm right next door and super hungry.
Review Source:I've always lived in a town that has multiple Dairy Queens but never a DQ with food. I wanted a quick bite before I attended a show down the road, so I finally got my chance! I love that they have a $5 hamburger combo that will get you a mini frosty, a drink, a burger and some fries. It was perfect for a "I don't want my stomach growling during a three hour play" lunch.
The burgers are super tasty! Reminded me a bit of a Culvers burger. I'm not that into fries, but their fries were pretty good too, although nothing special. Make sure to snag a table first then order. There's very little seating options and when we were there, people were just sitting there on their tablets/laptops and hogging the free spots.
The banana cream pie blizzard is my ultimate fave, although most of their blizzards are amaaaazing.
This dairy queen is absolutely fabulous! The staff are pleasant and extremely helpful and funny. The food is always good and well-priced. The staff even walk around and clear your table for you and bring you anything you need, even a drink refill!
This dairy queen goes far above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend it!
I was at the store today buying a birthday cake for my boyfriend. If I could give this DQ even more stars I would. I was greeted by an extremely kind and helpful employee who helped me pick out a cake and explained all the different kinds. He then reached into the ice cold freezer and brought the cake to the register and put it in a bag. As they were ringing up the order the manager happened to be walking by and asked if I needed any help. I was completely amazed with how wonderful this store is. I just had lunch, but if I didn't I probably would have changed my plans and ate there instead. I will be coming back frequently.
Review Source:I have been here a few times and the burgers are decent and everyone is very friendly and the place is always clean. These are pluses. It's a tastier burger than McDonald's similar price the serious plus being you can have a soft serve ice cream sundae!
What is cool to me is you order, sit down and they bring it out to you. Fresh and hot... well... cold if you chose ice cream! I usually do a burger, but the soft serve is really good, and not really expensive.
They bused ny table like a real restaurant and offered to refill my pop. I am just impressed!
This is clean and new. I like a clean ice cream shop (something about a place that isn't sticky and messy is appealing). It is a DQ Grill and Chill, so you can order your ice cream treats or something off the grill. While in Chicago, we stopped here twice. It was in walking distance from the hotel and a good reason to get out of the hotel.
They make blizzards, banana splits and sundaes really well. You can't go wrong here. They are very efficient and you don't have to wait long to get your sugary reward. The first night, 80s hair and modern day metal was piped through the speakers, but it may have just been something to mask the sound of the road construction and L above. This is open even with the road construction on Wabash.
They have indoor and outdoor seating. Come for the ice cream and good people watching, too.
I continue to heart this Dairy Queen! Â
Perfect service with a smile in addition to their full menu, amazingly clean interior, and small case of ice cream cakes and boxes of frozen treats. Â Super fast, little wait times, friendly and sweet staff and they even bring your food to your table. Â Now you can make it a Dilly Bar day!

Not bad at all, For a franchise. The chocolate malt is great, The shrimp basket, onion rings & chicken sampler are delicious too. Yet, A few times the one order can be a bit screwy.
But an updated note; PLEASE fix the Men's restroom door handle!!!!.
I ALSO love the Lemonade Coolatas, REAL refreshing.......
For a limited time, $5 gets you a small fry, a loaded cheeseburger and a mini Blizzard of your choice. While there is NO difference between Burger King's burgers or fries and DQ's, it's still really tasty and cheap. The mini Blizzards are the perfect size and if that's not enough food, you can add a few things on for just a few bucks (a burger and fries for $2, etc). It's clean, the staff is nice and well, I mean, it's DQ ice cream c'mon!
Review Source:I had a craving for Cafecito, but I was surprised to see the place closed on an early Saturday evening (was the staff attending Lollapalooza??). My bailout was DQ next door. Fortunately I came in a few minutes before a Lolla crowd came in to order food. I ordered a combo with a grilled bacon burger, plus onion rings and drink. The burger and bacon were appropriately greasy, and the rings were crunchy. Silly me, I did not order any dessert but I was full from my combo meal.
Review Source:I know. 5 stars to a DQ? There's only one way to explain this. As Dairy Queen's go, this place should be considered the Taj Mahal. It's clean, well staffed, and they REALLY care about the quality of what they're giving you...trust me, the guy there spent 5 minutes explaining why a Banana Split blizzard with extra stuff is their notoriously 'white whale' that just won't ever pass the 'up side down' thickness test... It was great to experience such enthusiasm, and it really made me realize: I've never been to a GOOD DQ until now. And trust me, I lived near the one in Homewood which, if passing on a summer day, you would think they were giving stuff away for free. My point: This place is A++ for a DQ.
Review Source:I bought my wife an ice cream cake for her bithday. I actually bought a gift card and gave her the option of creating her own cake from the many delicious blizzard flavors, or just picking a run of the mill one from the cooler. To my surprise, she just chose the a plain cake from  the cooler. I must say this thing was darn good. Simply vanilla ice cream top layer, a chocolate ice cream center, a layer of fudge and some kind of cookie crumble in the middle and a little icing on the side. It was scrumptious. The 8" cake was a lil pricey ($23.99 + tax) but with just the two of us, it was plenty. I highly recommend the cake and blizzars.
Review Source:I usually stay away from fast food but the Blizzards are so addicting! Â The mint Oreo and cookie jar Blizzards are my favorite.
I don't go here for anything else but the Blizzards. Â I no longer purchase ice cream at the Baskin Robbins right down the block - DQ is better.
The service is also very friendly and patient - sometimes I can't decide which Blizzard I want.
They always have a coupon or deal on Blizzards - awesome for a college budget.
I remember going here last year when this place first opened and you'd have thought you were dining at a 5 star restaurant. They had greeters at the door and employees going around asking everyone how there food was every few minutes. The guy even offered to get me a refill while I was sitting there. Now this is what I call a fine fast food dining experience.
Went there again today for the first time since last year. MY HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED! This is just your regular fast food dump now. No one greeted me at the door. No one asked me how my food was because there was no where to sit. This place was packed. Some tables were occupied with people who weren't even eating/drinking anything. Annoying? Lil bit.
Anyway, on to the food. I got the chicken tender basket. Dayum, them chicken things are small! And the bread tasted like that fake plastic bread I used to play house with as a kid. The fountain soda though... that thing hit THE spot. DQ gets an extra star for having extra flavorful fountain drinks (and I've tried a lot).
I love DQ.
So much that I've been here, oh, three times in the past week. It's on my way home from work and open until 11. And some of you may be thinking "Wow, that's a lot of ice cream!" Well then, I say to you, "I didn't get my Luscious Booty by eating carrots!"
The staff here, all of them, are super nice and friendly and notice you practically the second you walk in the door. They are quick with getting your order taken and in your hands so you can shove it in your mouth as fast as possible. Except I'm a lady, with class, so I take dainty little licks.
It's always packed with people whenever I come in and it is nice and clean. Yes, it's pretty new, so it's still in the "fresh n clean because we are new' phase, but I'm hoping that it will stick around.
Boo... I got a small cone tonight and it was literally laughable how small it was. I asked for a new cone that is a little bigger. The guy put the cone on a scale and said it was the right size.
I have had a thing for soft serve ice cream this summer and I have had A LOT of cones from Dairy Queen, so I feel confident I know the size of a small cone.
The only reason I give them two stars is for the soft serve which is still really good.
I'm so disappointed that this is the Dairy Queen closest to my home. Lincoln Park DQ here I come!
It was my first time. It was awesome.
I should have ordered the blizzard. But I refused to give into the hype. I'll wait 24 hours and then go get it tomorrow. I'm easily tempted.
I had the 4 chicken strip meal with fries. The chicken strips were surprisingly delicious! Very crisp on the outside, very juicy on the inside. I was blown away! The fries I did not really care for.
Parking is easy on wabash and they have outdoor patio seating.
Showing Texan friends their first view of the Big City, I was thrilled to take them on a culinary tour of Chicago. I was equally thrilled to stumble upon a slice of Texas.
(Note: while DQ originated in IL, we mark the legitimacy of small Texas towns by the presence of a bona fide Dairy Queen. Those that haven't yet arrived may have a Dairy Maid, etc. It's something to strive toward.)
The Tagalong blizzard was everything I wanted it to be. $4 felt pricey for a small... but then the small felt huge for a small... so It evened out. We didn't order food, as I tend more toward the "treats" than the "eats," but I hear they now have more than just grilled cheese for those of us who avoid the cow and chicken.
Service was blah, despite our cheer/elation toward the cashier upon finding this place. But the sweets came out well and they brought them to our table, which I hadn't expected.
Also, I'm a woman who needs a glass of water with her thick + frozen dairy treats, so the 4-ounce water cups necessitated multiple trips to the fountain. Plus the water on the soda fountain came out of the Hi-C tap, which = hot-pink water and a funny taste in your mouth.
But I really can't complain; this place takes me back. I joined their e-club for a Blizzard BOGO and I'll definitely be back.
I went here with my wife and we weren't too impressed. Â I'm not expecting gourmet, but I am comparing it to other fast food burgers. Â I got the flamethrower grillburger and wasn't excited by whatever that spicy sauce was. Â I rather just have a normal bacon cheeseburger. Â My wife got some mushroom burger and she didn't care for it much. Â The only thing I think I'll go here for is dessert. Â My ice cream was good...I guess thats what they should be good at. Â Go here for desert, try the warm food if you need something more and can't wait to go somewhere else.
Review Source:Well...this was necessary.
I blame the poor design of the interior for a lack of considering people waiting for orders to go because they get mixed in with the path of the waitstaff and since you can't wait at the counter the waitstaff has to hand your item to you less than a foot. Â Reeediculous.
Actually, Dairy Queen is pretty mediocre to begin with so it serves you right for going here.
Thank you, ice cream gods! Â For years I hoped that a DQ would drop from heaven into a location close to home...and what do you know? Â The day has arrived! Â This brand new, cozy spot on the first floor of that hostel building has turned all my oreo blizzard fantasies into a reality. Â
My only question is...why no DQ sign outside? Â Had it not been for the red light at the corner and chance glance in that direction...I would have never known this place was there.
Oh the DQ - what a treat that I didn't even realize I missed! This location JUST opened in the south loop and is a nice fast food option for the area. This is a great place to go for a quick, cool treat - with the summer coming up, this will be just the ticket.
Stars....
1 for that chicken strips basket - I do believe they dip that bread into a vat of butter before they toast it. And they should probably call this the fried carbs basket. mmm mmm
1 for surprisingly great service for a fast food joint. I mean, they just opened so they may be eager, but table service, really?? Thanks!
1 for convenient location and cleanliness.
-1 for charging extra for dipping sauces. I mean, one is included with the basket 'o' carbs, but I need at least two dipping options for my strips. BBQ AND honey mustard!!
-1 for not carrying my childhood favorite the starkist!! Anyone remember these?? They were like a popsicle - on a stick, star shaped, and delicious. My slightly lactose intolerant tummy likes a sweat, cool, non-dairy treat every now and again but the ice cream is just not an option. Â
When it heats up this summer, stop by for a sweet treat to beat the heat!
