this place has the best bartenders around!!! no comparison. they are true profesionals.!! all the food they serve is excellent.the place is very clean
and the people who go there are very friendly.you have to try the crunchy wings.great place to meet up with friends... any night of the week.!! love this place and will continue to go there for years to come.
Yes....Davey's is A-OK with the potential to be really awesome. The food is good, the bartender was super friendly, the decor makes you feel like you might be at Cheers, Â but there is one huge problem with this bar.... the beer selection sucks! They didn't even have an Amstel Light (the night we were there at least). Good beer is a make-or-break deal for a bar, so I don't understand why Davey's wouldn't start pairing their fare with some good craft beers. It was good enough to do so!
We would go back if we were to find out they started to carry a wider selection of beer, but until then, probably not.
Davey's is an amazing place. After being abandoned in this part of the NJ transit line. I was going to need a car or figure out a foreign bus system to return home. I called a car, but the wait was going to be close to 50 min. Davey's was across the street, it was either the pub or Dunkin Donuts and there was no way I was going to settle for that.
I could have ordered a dark and stormy, but that was what the week already delivered. I ordered a Guiness, it was a dark beer kind of night. I watched some baseball and browsed my phone as patrons slowly trekked into the place to party and eat.
I chatted with a another driveby patron about the latest news and sports when one of the chefs stepped out of the kitchen with a free sample of their steak on a piece of toasted bread. It was delicious.
If I am ever back in this neck of the woods of New Jerz with my own transportation, I would definitely come back.
Great place for drinks - extremely crowded with a good mix of folks for people watching.
We ordered small nachos for $16.99. (They had a large for $19.99)
I was mortified with what came out.  A small cereal bowl with tostados, a blop of hormel chili, drizzled with liquid cheese(cheese whiz????) and dotted with jalapeño slices.
Seriously? Â It was a joke. Â Not worth more than $4.99 tops. Â
Why the 4 stars then?
The bartenders were fabulous - welcoming and friendly as was the bar crowd.
Typical pub atmosphere. Food was average. Not a huge selection of beers. Â Price was affordable for most items but entrees seemed a bit expensive for a pub. Service was fine considering how busy they were. Â Although, two different waitresses forgot to bring us a beer we kept trying to order. Â This would not be my first choice for pub fare.
Review Source:I'm shocked that I haven't reviewed Davey's. Â Seriously. Â Anyway, Davey's is one of my favorite places in the area to come for wings and curly fries and a pint of Magners. Â I mean I've had other things here, but they totally nail the wings and fries thing. Â My experience may be a little biased because my friend worked here for years, so when I come with her (which I always do) we end up getting special treatment from the bartenders--who I've always found to be nice and amusing (never heard any of them greet customers with gay slurs like the previous reviewer stated).
Review Source:Um, I have only come here a few times in a stupor. Â However, the greeting upon entering is "FAGGOT!" Â From the context I figured out through the night that that means hello and welcome to my bar. Â The bartenders are super cool and drinks are reasonable despite the odd greeting. Â I did not get food and probably won't come back. Â But, I have never heard a bartender yell "FAGGOT" to every patron that walks through the door. Â I mean does he mean bundle of sticks or??? is it just a jersey thing?
Review Source:Came here after the Perar River, NY St. Patrick's Day parade,  Had the buffalo chicken sandwich with the waffle fries  -  always a lay-up.  Place was packed, as expected.  Service was decent based on the number of people there.  They also had a guy playing the guitar and singing Irish tunes - he was pretty good, but the speaker was right by my head, which was a bit loud and annoying.
Review Source:Good food, friendly service, and nice pub atmosphere. Â This place has been a family favorite for years. Â Try the Ribs and waffle fries - both are the best I've ever had.
There's a sports bar when you walk in, and two dining rooms - so whether your watching the game with a few pals or taking the family out for a nice meal, Davey's has something for everyone. Â And Cathy's famous Irish Whiskey Cake is the perfect way to finish off your meal!
This place is sort of unique in the Pascack Valley for being busy until closing every night of the week. Â In an area not known for its nightlife, this is pretty impressive.
The crowd is older than, say, the teeny-bopper bars of Pearl River, but it's always a pretty lively crowd. Â A lot of folks know each other here, and if you show up alone, people are pretty welcoming, particularly if there's a game or something on.
The food is above-average bar food -- nothing too unusual on the menu, but they make sure they know how to make it all well. Â There are a lot of places where that isn't a given. Â And the kitchen is open late -- I've eaten here a few times deep into the night and there's no drop-off in quality or selection.
The staff that make all this happen are great -- bartenders who remember you the second time you're in, and who are fun and friendly and gentlemen all at once. Â A classy operation starts with classy people, and these guys seem to take that to heart.
Local townie bar with a decent beer selection and mediocre food. I had a chicken parmesan sandwich with waffle fries. The mozzarella on the sandwich tasted like glue and the prosciutto was unremarkable. The food is questionable, but the beer selection is decent. Local Defiant brews were on tap, which is always a welcome sight.
Review Source:A great place to enjoy some great pub grub and beers.
Their food has always been good and its a "good time" place to come to.
Good service and always helpful and a great jukebox!
Nice atmosphere.
If you are not a regular at the bar you may feel slighted and not get a "good luck" is the way it seems- but a nice bar and the tenders treat you ok- but much better if they know you.
Tough tough parking.
Good draft selections here -- in addition to Harp, Guinness, etc. they normally have a Defiant Brewery choice available too. Â Bartenders are friendly and on top of things.
Food is better than your typical bar fare. Â You won't regret a medium-rare burger oozing juiciness....try blue cheese or even better, bacon and cheddar. Â Pork quesadillas are good, taco chicken salad thing (comes in a big crunchy bowl that you eat....you know what i'm talking about) is tasty and gigantic.
They recently expanded the parking lot -- much more convenient to come now. Â The place is always packed after work on a weekday.
This is one of my favorite bars/pubs to go to for food & drinks. Â The clientele is mostly regulars but newbies can fit right in too. Â I prefer to sit just above the bar in the seating area. Â
They have the BEST BEST BEST Spinach Articoke Dip. Â Sometimes I come here just if I'm craving that. Â It is very cheesy and comes in a small boston baked beans crock covered in a layer of baked cheese on top. It is served with very salty tortilla chips which go great with the dip (although the old chips were better!!)
As an entree, I usually order the Carribean Chicken Salad (and I used to order the Herbal Vinegarette - it was delicious, but they took it off the menu. Bring the Herbal dressing back!!!) Â The Carribean Chicken has rosemary, and something else which gives it a hot kick. Â Not something I would usually order but it is always seasoned to perfection, warm, soft, fresh and delicious. Â The chicken is served in strips on top of a bed of greens. Â My boyfriend ALWAYS gets the burger with cheddar cheese, bacon and sauteed onions and loves it.
The fries are delicious, I will give you that. Â But they don't offer the variety they used to. Â Sometime in the last two years or so, a drastic change was originally made cutting the variety of fries down to two or three kinds. Â When we questioned our waitress, she said the change was made because people starting thinking this was a "French Fry House" Â (ahem Scott S) and the higher ups didn't want to get the impression of being known for their fries. Â I think with massive protest from the clientele, they did bring back a few extra varieties and we're glad they did. Â Our fav fries: beer battered and waffle.
I see a lot of families here for lunch/dinner or after youth rec games. Â If there is a yankee/giants/jets game on, the bar in particular is loud and noisy which spills over to the upper seating level but its a fun atmosphere. Â It's also good for lunch, and has a quieter dining room off to the side.
The wait staff shares the room, so you don't usually have one waitress in particular, but they're all extremely helpful, friendly and polite. Â Always had a great experience with a great staff there.
ATTENTION ALL FRENCH FRIES LOVERS!!
Came here for lunch and had a chicken Parmesan sandwich. Â The sandwich was OK but nothing special. Â What I will remember about this place is the amazing variety of french fries you can order with your meal - steak fries, regular fries, sweet potato fries, seasoned fries, and on and on. Â If you are a fan of french fries, this is the place for you. Â The owner must be the Bubba Gump of french fries! Â
The atmosphere is very casual, with both a bar area and a dining section. I'm not sure what it is like at night, but my friend tells me that they sometimes get a good bar crowd. Â
Overall, 3 stars
