The Porter House

If you looking for a classic old fashion steak place. This is the place to be. Restaurant on the border of New Jersey and New York. A very nice cigar lounge and bar with nice leather chairs. Smoking is also allowed in the bar. Very good bartenders and servers. Food is really good. Don't worry about the smoke, the main dining room is non-smoking. Excellent selection of menu items.

I'm giving this a five because I like cigars and steak.

This place should be more than 3 stars.  

I admit only a certain clientele should be coming here.  It is really smoky and feels like a dungeon at times, but great if you want a night out with your boys.  

Solid steak.  Great burger.  Good whiskey menu.  Awesome cigar bar.  

The steak sauce is AMAZING.  

If you have a wife, or girlfriend, or kids... you probably shouldn't bring them here for family dinner.  But as a spot to hang out with your friends, it's five stars.  Servers are really nice and attentive as well.

If I could give half stars, it would have been a 3.5, but I didn't want to take the .5 away, so I added it.  The food is just "OK" for the prices -  nothing to rave about.  I think they are able to charge a higher price due to the fact that they are pretty much the only restaurant in the area that allows smoking.  I had the Mizo Glazed Cod - a nice piece of fish, but the sauce the noodles were a little salty.  Hubby had the NY Strip which was a little tough, but it was "OK".  My husband is a cigar smoker, so we were fine with the fact that people were smoking (mostly cigarettes, but we sat outside, since it was a nice night - went inside to use the bathroom, walked by the 'smoking section' inside and it wasn't horrendous - it IS a cigar bar, after all).  Our servers were excellent (we had a male server, who let us know that his shift was ending and that Kate would take over - both were exceptional - very personable, attentive, and friendly).  We stayed for about 2 hours, eating dinner, had a couple of beers, then hubby bought a cigar (which usually takes 20-30 minutes to smoke), while I had a scotch (not a big scotch drinker, but it seemed like the right thing to do!)  ~Good scotch/whiskey choices~  We never seemed rushed and felt like valued guests (the manager was present and stopped at each table to see how everything was)....nice touch.  We'll be back....
