Raising my views as the last couple of brunches here were attend to by much more friendly and attentive waitresses. I usually order the churn fun and noodle dishes. But, I've experienced enough of their other offerings to say that Dim Dim's food remains tasty and is an excellent value for what you paid.

Keep up the good work and food!

Really, really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I didn't.

Four people on a Sunday at about 9am.  Lots of seats available and the atmosphere was cafe-like and modern.

About the food/service:  The Ha Gao (steamed shrimp dumplings) came out partially frozen.  The brother who unfortunately found this out, spat it onto his plate and showed the server the still-gray/translucent shrimp.  She grabbed the steam basket and brought it to the back.  We all laughed at it for a second and wondered if she'd bring out a fresh one with 4 pcs or just bring back 3 because you'd think the raw one that he spat out wouldn't have counted.  Her mom insisted that they'd bring out a whole new order because what kind of restaurant would just bring back 3?  Turns out that restaurant is Dim Dim.  I know it's one Ha Gao, but still, it's the principle.

Anyway, the "fried baby cuttlefish" was totally the curry cuttlefish that they just deep-fried.  Not a huge deal, but I think they should rename it "fried curry cuttlefish" to indicate that it's curry-flavored.

The turnip cake was really burnt-tasting and also kind of wetter than I've had at other restaurants.

The rice crepes/chow fun rolls were ok as was the spinach shrimp dumpling, but everything else was just kind of greasy and didn't seem freshly made -- like it came off a dim sum cart even though this place doesn't use them.

Since I don't speak Chinese I didn't catch the best part of our experience, though. Apparently, gf's mom asked for to-go boxes to wrap up leftovers and was yelled at by the server like she was appalled someone would even ask such a question.  I guess they don't want to take your leftovers home?

I wish Furama would open earlier on weekends or that Shui Wah would reopen.

The dim sum here isn't the best, but it definitely isn't the worse. However, it is cheaper than most dim sum places in Chinatown. I like coming here once in a while because of the convenient parking. I would much rather come here than the place upstairs, Furama, for dim sum. Depending on when you go, this place can be packed or half filled. As for service, it is a hit or miss.

My favorite thing to get here is the shrimp crepe. This place isn't stingy with their soy sauce as well because I never have to ask for extra. Other things that I normally get here are the shrimp dumpling, pork bean curd wrap, chicken sticky rice wrap, bbq pork turnover, chive dumpling, and beef brisket over rice crepe. The siu mai here are pretty bad, but I am a very picky siu mai eater, and I only have like a select handful of siu mai from dim sum places. I also didn't like the deep fried taro puff, which is one of my favorite things to get in dim sum.

This place also have a breakfast special which is $4 and it comes with a drink. The wonton noodle soup isn't bad. The thing I didn't like from here was the beef chow fun. It was very bland and didn't have any flavor to it.

I frequent this place a lot and I must say in the beginning, I came mainly for the price. It's local and cheap and service is average. You have to draw their attention. They seem more attentive if you speak their dialect.
However, the food is really good, home made style Chinese food along with dim sum late into the day with a wide variety to choose from.
My favorites are the steamed rice with garlic ribs, wonton noodle soup, pea pod leaves in garlic sauce, har gow (shrimp dumplings) and my absolute favorite of salt and pepper Japanese style tofu. They have a bakery section, but I like their sticky rice the best from that area. They serve bubble tea, but Joy Yee's serves the best bubble tea around.

When I'm in the mood for some hot milk tea, I usually find myself at St. Alp's, but when I don't feel like spending $5 a pop, Dim Dim offers a good alternative for about $1-2 when I'm in the area.

Surprisingly, they have a decent selection of baked goods. My friend and I tried their Asian version of a fish filet sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was pretty good. I would definitely get it again. I also purchased a few a la carte dim sum items, which were decent.

In addition to selling drinks and baked goods, this place also is a restaurant which offers Chinese dishes and dim sum. There's also a parking lot, but spaces are limited.

I ate dinner here and ordered pastries and dim sum for carry out.  The food was okay, comparable to other casual cantonese restaurants in Chinatown.  The service was okay as well, they were not rude or anything.  The all-day dim sum was definitely a plus, eating chicken feet with rice was quite satisfying.
My friend said their wonton noodle is the best in Chinatown.  I will give that a try next time.
Overall, the place is not a bad choice if you want to grab a quick bite at a clean / new restaurant.

Four stars for the dim sum!

This place is pretty awesome because you won't find dim sum this cheap in Chinatown Square or Chinatown on Wentworth.
Must haves: chicken feet, shrimp rolls, salt and pepper baby octopus, siu mai, and their pork with preserved egg congee.

The prices are reasonable, but the reason why I didn't give them five stars is that the service isn't that attentive. Asking for the bill and getting the waiters' attention is definitely a struggle.

Other than that, Dim Dim serves dimsum all day (I believe...) and I am definitely coming back again!

3.5 really but you get me.

I like coming here because they do some tasty fresh dim sum.

I especially like their ribs in black bean sauce and I really like that they aren't as oily as some other places.

They also have some good dumplings and they have a nice array of pastries to choose from!

If you want good beef balls (my faaaaavvve) and a good milk tea, head next door to Golden Horse Carriage and skip the ones here!

An ok dim sum place with a casual, unassuming setting.  It's a loud dining space and populated by locals, many of which appear to be headed to or from the nearby boarding hub for transportation to the NWI casinos.  They also have a bakery with ok quality goods.  Prices are reasonable and commensurate with the quality.  The small parking lot is free if you can grab a spot.

This place is awesome if you order with special requests. Fried noodle dishes are known to be oily since it takes quite a bit of oil to loosen them up. Just make sure you tell them to go easy on the oil so you won't have to deal with the mouthful of grease.

The service can be pretty subpar due to being busy throughout the day. I say the best time to come is around 11am (that's when most of the vans already pulled out for work in Chinatown, at least most...).

Their breakfast deals are not bad as it have a congee (rice porridge, if you please), a noodle dish, and a hot drink (cold drinks is an additional $0.75). Not a bad place.

I usually eat the congee and take the noodles for lunch.

This review is based only on  the pastries and the law mei gai (rice stuffed with meat wrapped in a lotus leaf)  I took out yesterday.

My cousin told me about how they have the flaky kinda cha siew pastry here that was better than Golden Horse Carriage (it's not better, I prefer the one at Golden Horse Carriage. The crust is flakier and better there...). Good but not my favorite.

I have to say that the coconut bolo (pineapple) bao was delicious. Fresh, the coconut  was generous and moist but not too sweet, the topping not too sweet but crumbly... and the law mei gai was super fresh and we ate it for dinner later. The innards of the rice "tamale" was pretty well seasoned and it had a salted duck egg in it, score!

I'd come back, maybe not necessarily for the dim sum but for the pastries!!

I ordered take out from Dim Dim today, I got some wonton noodle soup and beef funn roll, and it was good. It was cheap and I liked it. Now, I will be going back there to try their other food items, and then review it again to see how service and the other food taste.

Did you know that most places in Chinatown don't serve dim sum between 4pm-8pm? It's true, I was there last night trying to find a place but was unsuccessful. Most of them will serve dim sum early to mid day or late night. That's how I came across Dim Dim since they serve dim sum all day. Yeah yeah.

The area is just south of old Chinatown and a little dingy but the interior of the restaurant is well decorated with dark wood trim. With no wait and cheap prices throughout the menu, this was a good find indeed. They offer a wide variety of dim sum made to order and dishes that average only $5 a plate.

Although the quality wasn't outstanding, Dim Dim definitely satisfied my dim sum urge. We received awesome service and the food was hot and cooked well. Yes, there are other places that are better for dim sum but if you have a craving between 4pm-8pm, Dim Dim is worth checking out.

probably the worst dim sum restaurant i ever went to.. came here with a friend and my cousin before the auto show.. it's a small place and was pretty crowded and loud inside..

we marked down all the items we wanted on the dim sum sheet and then the waiter took it.. after a few mins, he walk back to us and asked us to double check and see if he missed anything.. we were too lazy to check because we just want to eat then go..

the food quality is bad.. the shui mai was chunky and taste weird.. the beef and shrimp crepe was very sticky and flavorless... the beef balls was really soft... sticky rice didn't have enough ingredients and is loaded with rice.. tribes was chewy...shrimp dumplings tasted really fake.. hard to explain but it didn't taste right ha ha... and the beef pan fry noodles plate was so tasteless that we only ate 1/3 of it ... even dipping it in hot sauce didn't cut it...

i sure will not be coming back here again.. it is really that bad.. sorry!

So I'm really surprised at how bad the yelp reviews are...I actually really like this place.  Yeah, the service isn't awesome, but that's pretty typical for a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown.  Anyway, the best thing about this place is that the food is ultra cheap.  It's not gourmet, but it's serviceable and decent and about as good as half of the restaurants in Chinatown.  Good for a cheap lunch.

I ordered 2 Shui Mai at around 2pm. It took over 15 minutes to make but was very fresh and tasted good. I've had better for less $ so I don't think I'll be back.  Actually I also visited a few other places today. The one I was most impressed with was Dim sum house a few blocks north at 2610 S Wentworth. There they sell their dimsum uncooked at a good price. It's easy to steam or microwave (covered) or even put them in your ramen noodles like wontons. VERY TASTY

Place gets packed and tables are pretty close together. We tried a variety of dim sum and 2 noodle dishes.

    Beef flat noodle was decent.
Soy sauce pan fried noodles was bland and soggy. Not enough soy sauce.

BBQ Pork Crepe had a lot of soy sauce. It was a good thing.
Har Gow was not bad. Lots of shrimp.
    Shui Mai was ok.
Baby octopus in curry was a winner. Tender and flavorful.
Chicken Feet was ok, but I've had better.

We had a few other items and they were ok. I had a iced hk milk tea and seems they use condensed milk, but it was ok.

We asked the waitress for hoisen sauce like 2 times, but she never brought it. That's why the soy sauce came in handy from the crepes.

Stay away, and take this from a chinese person who eats lots of chinese food.

We ordered a chie sum and beef chow mein, and it was gross--corn starchy sauced to high heaven. Japanese fried tofu the same. Stuff fried tofu--same. Sauce sauce sauce sauce sauce--and it wasn't even good sauce. It was the shiny too-much-corn-starch sauce. Blech.

    Salty sauce overload.

This place is a terrible sit-in for dim sum! For starters, the service was really bad and the food here was awful. I'm not sure how they are cooking the Siu Mai or any pork dishes back there, but they need to fire the chef back there; it tasted stale and flavorless. The only decent food they had were the fried dishes, such as: taro roll and pan fried dumpling.

Lots of food you can order, but everything is just so greasy! MSG galore!

    I won't be coming back.

I've been to this restaurant for quite a few times but each time the service gets worse and worse. All the lady workers never remember what I ordered accurately, I had to remind them about 2-3 times. Yet they still fail to give me what I ordered. They also enjoy taking their time and talking about social life while disregarding appropriate work behavior. I remember that one lady that always stands in the front counter as the cashier, and she would always look like she doesn't want to work. She doesn't greet much people and she never smiles. She also argued with me on a mistake that she had done, later then did she only apologize. They also demand for tips while emphasizing the poor economy, yet what they do not realize is that poor service does not deserve a fancy tip. The walls are very reflective, so when there is a crowd is gets louder than a club; very disturbing. The washroom is rather dim, its new and wide but the door is pretty heavy too. The parking is free which is nice. The food is only okay though. I have found tiny pieces of  hair in the food before and plates/bowls that aren't thoroughly cleansed. I've ordered many dishes and some are fairly prices. The Korean-style beef over rice is a rip off for only 5 pieces of beef and some soy sauce on rice. The wonton noodle soup is pretty decent. The dim sums are kinda pricey but affordable. Some of the fried noodles dishes have too much oil. There was also this time that I order the Satay Beef not only would continuously change in flavor and texture, but they had even completely given me a different dish, Curry Beef, claiming that it is Satay sauce. The drinks aren't very good, I've tried the ice lemon tea and Hong Kong style milk tea and they've add too much ice leaving half the drink to taste like plain water. Their pastry section is pretty good with average pricing. Their menu is really colorful but only limited of choices.

I say only came here if you are willing to deal with waitress's attitude in exchange for free parking and decent pricing of food.

I was rather hyped that we are getting more options in the Bridgeport area, but the results didn't quite compliment that.

We ordered the following for carry-out:
    1) Taro roll
    2) Shrimp dumping
    3) Chiu Chow style dumpling
    4) Siu Mai
    5) Pan-fried crepe with XO sauce
    6) Turnip cake with XO sauce
    7) Spiced salt baby cuttlefish
    8) Steamed bbq pork bun
    9) Pork beancurd wrap

The siu mai's pork wasn't well-minced so one bite into it sent the piece into crumbles. The pan-fried crepe and turnip cake weren't well-cooked and it was so flavorless that I wondered if any XO sauce were even added. The steamed barbecue pork bun was so tiny that they reminded me of the packaged, instant steam buns from the supermarket.

The only decent items from our order were the taro rolls and baby cuttlefish. The cuttlefish was tender and had a salted, curry flavor and the taro rolls were minced taro contained within a crispy wrap.
