I love district wine! As a long beach local I really appreciate having such a cool, fun and sophisticated place in the heart of downtown. The owners are REALLY nice, and super attentive to their customers. The wine selection is fantastic, as it should be, featuring a bunch of great california wines. But what really impressed me was the food. Ok It's expensive, the atmosphere just FEELS expensive so of course the food is. But at least it lives up to the price, the artichoke flatbread and prosciutto bob bons are amazing! For a posh night on the town this place is a great choice.

I literally stumbled on top of this place since I was on the phone and aimlessly walking around. I look up and what does it say? Happy Hour! So of course I walk in not knowing where I was going and absolutely fell in love with this place. Wines by the glass and by the bottle. See something you like in a bottle, it's likely they will open in for you anyway. This is a husband and wife that own and run the place and this is an absolute gem in Long Beach.

Bar seating. Table seating. Outdoor seating. Great atmosphere. Great wine. Great food.

Holy Crap! What a gem of a place in downtown Long Beach! This place is a hybrid between fancy, classy, and cool, but far from pretentious; a location I'll definitely take close friends, family and dates to enjoy.  Not only is the atmosphere inviting, the service is impeccable, drink selection (wine and beer) is plentiful, and food is delectable.

Their awesome Happy Hour is Mon-Saturday from opening to 7pm.  The prosciutto bon bons ($5) have bursts of flavor, combining salt, sweet, and savory to perfection. You'll likely order two or three of these. All of their flat bread pizzas. ($7/each) are delicious and seems to be brick oven baked (my favorite is Italian Meat).  And I discovered my new favorite beer here! The Staropramen Lager ($4) which is light, crisp and hoppy! Perfect to drink alongside those items I mentioned above.  Best part is that everything is tasty AND affordable.  ONLY negative is that their portion sizes for apps and entrees are small.

Nevertheless, I'll definitely be coming back and will likely throw an event here in the future!  My favorite place in Downtown Long Beach, hands down!

    Extra Notes
-Parking can be horrible--you can park at the meter parking after a certain time for free, but getting one of those spots at night can be difficult.
    -Gorgeous decor with brick walls
-Their music ranges from jazzy/soft ambient music
-A great place to catch up with friends since it isn't too loud
    -A small seating area outside
    -Amazing, friendly service
    -Clean restrooms
    -Takes credit card

Great service from the nice waitresses there. Their knowledgable about their wines and had fantastic little tapas to munch on. Great place to go before or after dinner.

I've been to District Wine a couple times -- once on a date with my love and another time just meeting up with some friends.  The very first time I came here with my boyfriend, it was a busy Saturday night.  We were greeted right away by the owner who was super friendly and personable.  He started us off with a couple delicious wine glasses after getting a feel of what we wanted and we started our night right at the door, sipping on our wines and window shopping the various items the restaurant had in the front.  After we were seated, the owner helped us select a few more wines which we paired off with a cheese fruit/nuts medley plate.  This was a perfect night of relaxation and intimate conversation after the long week we both had.

I had such a great experience this night that I decided to come back and meet with friends, as District Wine was a happy middle between Los Angeles and North Orange County!  Needless to say, the second time, though we didn't get VIP-owner service, our group was seated promptly at a large table and the service was stellar.  I don't remember much of that night, except that we had a good time... :-)

This is definitely one of my go-to wine bars now!

Pros: cozy and trendy vibe, great wine selection, above-par customer service

Great wine selection, friendly service! They could use a few additional items on the food side. I know it's a wine bar and food is not the focus. But still... my friend ordered the flatbread which looked like a frozen pizza and she said it tasted like one as well. However, I did enjoy my order of herbed meatballs and the pork belly is pretty good as well.

I don't know how this review is going to be remotely helpful for anyone who's a fan of detail, but District Wine is a simple pleasure, and therefore inspires a simple review:

    Love the location.
    Love the atmosphere.
    Friendly staff.
    Excellent selection.
Low volume and therefore unusually conducive to conversation.

District Wine is by far my favorite wine bar in Long Beach.

Awesome, awesome place! This place has a large variety of wine selection for you wine lovers alike. You can come here 50x's and still wind up with a different wine. I personally prefer whites and the dessert wines. Food is pricy for it's portion size but it is expected considering it is a wine bar/lounge. I absolutely love the decor of this place and just the entire atmosphere! It is fancy but not snobby!!! The crowd here is diverse as can be, which I love. We had a friendly cute waitress and didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. Great place to hang out with friends or a date.

I'll definitely make an effort to stop by more often when I'm in the area again.

A new (to me) local favorite of mine. After just having moved to the LBC, one of my friends who has been living in the area for a while... and self proclaimed wino I might add... invited me out for drinks over the weekend.

The place has a dark and classy sort of vibe (it is a wine bar after all). With plenty of high seating and pretty trendy trip-hop/ambient music playing in the background to boot. We had the unfortunate luck to come across a bachelorette party that night who happened to be pretty rowdy and I think shattered a few glasses. The group stood out like a sore thumb.

Regardless of some of the clientele that night, a great evening was had by all. I HIGHLY suggest their wine flight. They'll even do a white version if you are nice enough (wine flights usually come for just the reds).

Seems like it would be a good place for a date or low-key night out with a small group of friends to play catch up.

This was a "miss" for me.  We went in a small group on a Monday night.  It was pretty dead (as expected for Monday), so we were able to sit in an area that looked much like a living room (with couches rather than chairs).  The waitress seemed a bit unprofessional, not exactly rude, but just not that helpful/ friendly.  The BIG problem I had with the place though was the food.  They only have small plates, which was fine, but I did not enjoy any of the items we ordered.  We ordered two different flatbreads, and both were forgetable.  Also, I don't know about Happy Hour, but the normal price for the amount of food you get is not a good deal at all.  The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the ambience is decent.  Parking was easy (meter on the street), but I don't think I'll be back here.

District Wine is my new favorite wine bar in the OC/LA area!  Wine, food, ambiance & service were all impeccable!

I tried District Wine for the first time a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. My party was 45 minutes late(!!!) for our reservation. I thought for sure our table would be gone. I felt horrible, but the hostess and servers were very understanding and still had our table reserved for us (in a very nice location at that).

We tried a little bit of everything & everything was delicious.  I'll be wining & dining there again very soon!

My mother came to visit and I wanted to talk her somewhere we could talk and relax.
PERFECT choice, way to go me :)
We caught the last call for happy hour and ordered the prosciutto bon-bons, pea tapenade, and the artichoke flatbread. The bon-bons were out of this world delicious, sweet, soft, and so so yummy. Could have done without the little bread on the bottom. The tapenade was very very good. The flatbread was decent, but not good enough to necessarily get again.
I tried the Shiraz and the Malbec, both delicious. Got a sample of the Nero D'Avola, will absolutely get a glass next time I go.

It was nice and dark, great place to take a date you'd like to impress or just talk in a calm, romantic setting. Our server (she had a nose ring) was so sweet and attentive.

Definitely taking my boyfriend here ASAP.

We came here last Tuesday because we heard great things about District Wine and my friend was visiting from Germany. Well, we were NOT disappointed.  The owner greeted us as soon as we walked into the door, the ambiance and menu was wonderful and my friend mentioned that she loved Pinot Noirs and the owner gave her other tastes.  I would highly recommend coming here again and I'm looking forward for their Sunday Brunch next.

Next time I'm in Long Beach, CA, I'll be going back.  The owners are great, and they've got some good wine to taste.  It's a very convenient walk from the hotels near the convention center, and they're playing vinyl...  You gotta like it.

My boyfriend and I were giving his cousin and her date a ride to prom in Long Beach. We made a date night out of it while we were waiting to pick them up, and as a yelper and general food/wine lover, I did some research before we came down from LA. I made a reservation a few days before and was really looking forward to visiting District Wine after all the great reviews it has gotten. Sadly, we were pretty let down. Here's the break down:

Wine: The wine was great, good interesting selection so no complaints about that.

    Food: So, we ordered the...
-fresh arugula salad: normal salad, nothing spectacular and there were literally two tiny dollops of goat cheese--cheated!
-premium cheeses + charcuterie: tiny amount of each cheese, way too many nuts, and pretty much everything on the plate tasted like it was straight out of a package.
-proscuitto bon-bons: was the most disappointed about these because dates wrapped in bacon/proscuitto or what have you really is always amazing. The dates were hard, again robbed of much cheese and were otherwise unimpressive.
-herbed meatballs: tasted like Ikea meatballs--don't those have horse meat in them?

Service: Our waitress had her head in the clouds. We had to wait a long time to be greeted, then for our order to be taken. She didn't even look us in the eye, didn't check up on us once after we got our food and was not very knowledgeable about any of the wine. I'm not sure if she was new, but  she at least could have put some effort into getting someone else that had more knowledge to come over and explain while she took mental notes. The place wasn't too crowded and we were there for about 2.5 hours just sipping and picking at the cold food. Meanwhile our waitress must have gotten lost or went on break because another server came over to take another drink order from us and she was great--recommended some good glasses while giving us a few tasters--the type of service you would expect from a wine bar.

Overall, our experience was sub-par, the food was the main disappointment as you would expect a wine bar to serve great food. The ambiance was nice, and the wine was good, but I've definitely had better and don't see any reason to go back here.

My husband and I love coming here on Friday/Saturday nights, enjoying a bottle of red wine, snacking on the bar nuts, and listening to live music. The service there is great and always have great recommendations on wine.

There's only one negative thing I can think of when evaluating District Wine, and it's not so much the wine bar but more of the location - terrible parking. Good luck finding street parking on weekend nights!

Not just great wine, great people. Somehow, whenever we come in - even if it's been a while - our waitress remembers us and what we like to drink, impressive!

They have a really good selection, and their flatbreads are soooo good. If you haven't had the gorgonzola and pineapple flatbread, you haven't lived.

Also, just as an extra bonus, the owners are often there when you go, and they are so welcoming and grateful for your business.

Bottom line - I like this place and I would highly recommend it but I only gave it 3 stars because I'm a wine addict (wait...that didn't sound right) a happy hour junkie and I belong to several wine clubs.  Yes...I'm a wine snob.

First off I love the ambiance.  It's nice to know that the owners work and serve here.  You can tell they love it too because they talk to all of their customers and are never ever unaccommodating nor do they, or their employees and even the people who are regulars for that matter, possess a discriminative manner.  I've brought my kids there, I've recommended large parties and my girlfriends and I still go there from time to time.

Their happy hour is decently priced but their food is not very impressionable for a wine bar.  The selection offers a lot of the same stuff other wine bars and high end restaurants offer but they're just "ok" and not something that I crave.  The cheese platter was "ok", the bon bons...not to toot my horn but I've made better ones at home, but again they're "ok" and I think I've only had one type of wine that made me want to buy the bottle but then when I found it in BevMo, I bought it there for a cheaper price.

Their wine, which is why my review is only 3 stars is "OK".  They like to stock up on decently priced wine that is not typically found in your local grocery store but again, I've found some of the wines at Bev Mo and when I see the prices I think "oh...that makes sense."

There are so many wine bars out there with a growing number in Long Beach that have failed and prevailed and to be fair here, District Wine is prevailing.  Then again, there are a few more wine bars opening up that are worth a shot and comparison.  Unfortunately I haven't made it over there yet because I have been very satisfied with the wine and happy hour menu at Parker's Lighthouse.

District Wine - I haven't broken up with you and don't plan to, but I do hope the wine is better when I come there again. :)

My fiance were looking for a classy drink before dinner and found this place on Yelp. Originally I was thinking of another wine bar on 4th, but once we got here we knew we were in the right place. Happy hour runs until 7pm Monday-Saturday and includes  $5 wine by the glass and a small bites menu with reasonably priced food. She had the Chardonnay, I had the Allabash White. We also ordered the Prosciutto Bon Bons (sweet dates stuffed with cheese) and the pineapple gorgonzola flatbread.

Great ambience, friendly staff, and good food all add up to the need for another visit. Highly recommend.

I know this isn't a dinner place but it was 9:30 pm and I had limited food options- this was closest to my hotel. Ordered Caesar salad, pork belly & prosciutto flatbread to go. While food was ready quickly, they forgot to throw some utensils in there for me. Eating salad with no fork was um, interesting. Salad didn't seem to have any dressing- like they ran out since it was the end of the night & thought I wouldn't notice lack of flavor.  In addition I took a bite of salad & bit into something resembling the texture of avocado. Well, it wasn't avocado! It was severely wilted, mushy rotten salad- so gross! Lost my appetite, as you can imagine. Didn't care for the pork belly but the flatbread was delicious! I should've eaten more of that before biting into rotten salad. Oh well.

It's not bad, but it is not blow me away either.  Maybe if you live in downtown LB were there are no other restaurants I guess.  Don't get me wrong, it cute little place.  Friendly owners, good wine selection and decent appetizers.

Don't be fooled, it is not a sit down restaurant.  Its a wine bar that serves up small appetizer plates.  Only hardcore alcoholics would consider it a dinner place.  Because basically they don't eat much so they can drink more.

Came to District Wine on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday party. Based on what I saw here, I had really high hopes... but in the end I have to rate it a solid "A-OK" 3 stars.

The ambiance at District Wine is great - you can tell that the owners really put a lot of thought into how they set up the restaurant and the decor. The wine selection was great, though we opted to start with a bottle that the birthday girl had been gifted for a reasonable corkage fee.

The menu is definitely small plates... I am kind of surprised to see this get best of Yelp for dinner. I would really rate this as more of an apps place, as opposed to a place to get a full meal. Our group of four shared:

    - Arugula Salad (A-): loved the pickled onions!
    - Roasted Bar Nuts (B+): nice and savory, but $5 seems steep for the portion
    - Pea Tapenade (C): meh... sweet flavor, but overpowered by the pepper. We opted for gluten-free rice crisps instead of baguette. Don't think I'd order again.
    - Charcuterie & Cheese plate (B+): Good selection, but the meat to cheese ratio was a little off (needed more meat, imo)
    - Prosciutto Bon Bons: (A+): definitely lived up to the yelp hype!
    - Pinot Braised Pork Belly (D): Definitely not my thing. The pork was very fatty, which distracted from the flavor. The tampenade garnish was wonderful, but to me went better with other things we'd ordered.
    - Sundried Tomato & Artichoke flatbread (B+): I only ate the toppings (no gluten here), but they were pretty delish!

I did appreciate that they will sub out the rice crackers for any dish that comes with baguette. The Pork Belly was definitely a "let's try it and see" type of selection - it was really talked up by our waitress, but we were not fans. The owner did come over to discuss our feelings about the dish after hearing we weren't enthused - he gave my friend his card to discuss later. The dish was not removed from the tab (but I wouldn't have expected that, since it was our decision to try it).

In all, did I like District Wine? Yes. The food was good, and the service very friendly and attentive. Was I blown away? Not really. Definitely a good place to sit and try wines with friends and nibble on a few small plates... or grab a laid back happy hour... but in my opinion it's not a place to really "dine out" or expect a big meal. I will most likely be back, and look forward to trying some of the other menu items.

I've been agonizing over writing this review for weeks now... big thanks to my IRL-yelp-friend Andrea K. for convincing me to sit down and write it!

Parking was a bit difficult, but then again it was a Saturday night.

Once we entered the place had a great ambiance. It was low lit and the atmosphere was very intimate and lovely.

My friend and I each got a flat bread and decided to try out the wine tasting menu. Everything was delicious and the waiter even described each wine to us!

The waiters were extremely nice and helpful.

Overall we had a great time and I would love to go back! :)

    Prosciutto Bon bond
    Ceasar salad
    Meatballs

Loved this place! I never expected a place like this in long beach...shows how much I know...

Even though it was kind of loud due to the multiple parties going on, the host was sooo nice to sit my bf and I in a quiet table in the corner.

The prosciutto Bon Bons had to be my favorite! Perfectly sized prosciutto wrapped around what I think may be chutney and goat cheese on a crostini. I loved the salty, sweet, rich flavor coupled with the crunchiness of the crostini.

The Caesar salad was nice and light, not drenched in dressing. It came with two slices of crostini that I thought was awkward but I liked that they use that weedy salad rather than just ice berg or romaine.

We also ordered the meatballs and the sun dried tomato flatbread which wasn't really flatbread but both were good....meatballs very well seasoned...however non can overshadow the prosciutto.

Service was great, wine selection great...I just may need to host my upcoming birthday here!

Cute little place in downtown Long Beach; great happy hour prices ($5 glasses of wine from 4 - 7 pm). This place gets packed on a Friday night, especially during the rush to make HH. My friend and I ended up waiting 30+ minutes for a table when we came at 6:30, but our server still let us order off of the HH menu, which was nice.

Excellent selection of wine at your typical prices; the food menu was nothing spectacular, in my opinion (and I was half-hoping for a hummus plate, really).

A lot of people go in and out, so if you're seated near the door, you're going to have a bad time (re: freezing weather outside), but overall a nice joint to relax over a glass of wine or two.

The reason I moved to Long Beach: District Wine.

I recently moved to So Cal from the east coast and wanted a nice city with some good places to eat and drink.  The first day I came out for a visit I stayed in the Best Western just a block away and found my way into District Wine.  They have an amazing happy hour with some great food and drinks.  I also recently went there for Valentines day to do a pairing of wine and sweets.  Everything was very romantic and tasty.  The service is also excellent.

I can sum up this place in a few words: Amazing service, great wine and affordable prices.

The ambiance is really nice and it's a great place to chill and relax: especially on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered: Pork Belly (delicious and tender), Pesto and Mushroom flatbread (AWESOME and Very TASTY!), the artichoke flatbread (a bit sour but was also delicious), roasted nuts with chocolate (GOES GREAT especially with wine!) and meatballs (delicious and tender).

Great place to take a date! Also located close to the beautiful beach in downtown long beach. Parking is easy to find as long as you come early!

Great little wine bar in a trendy part of Long Beach.
If the Long Beach Cheese Week happens again, this is definitely one of the places you want to visit in your tour of the participating restaurants.  In addition to the nightly cheese and wine pairings they offer, they have a dee-licious menu.  The owners appear to be there every night and are a very nice couple.  The mood in this place is mellow and they will play any record you bring in.  That's right... vinyl.  I will definitely be hitting this place up again.

I've been searching for the perfect wine bar, and this is it. I'm not sure how crowded it gets during its peak hours on the weekend, but I loved that it wasn't too crowded when I went on a Wednesday night. This does nothing to help me quell my obsession with downtown Long Beach either.

The ambience was quiet and chill - lots of different places to sit. My friend and I sat by the window, and I felt like I was in a film noir movie. I got the Louis Latour Pinot Noir, and it was deliciously light, just the way I like it. The chocolate cake was one of the best I've had, too.

Overall, realllly happy with District Wine.

Super cool place!  I came here with Bethany S and her husband for a Monday happy hour.  They had made a reservation for 5:45, but it wasn't really all that crowded, apart from a Mary Kay party that hogged the women's restroom for most of the evening and provided some inadvertently hilarious people watching.  The ambiance is really great here -- dark and hipstery with a few different rooms for standing, sitting, or lounging.

Bethany had a sweet fruit beer which I had a sip of, while her husband had one of those beers with the little goat hangtag.  We also had the prosciutto bon bons, the pineapple flatbread, the Italian meat flatbread, and the pork belly.  The four prosciutto bon bons came with flat water crackers, and skewered by toothpicks, which made for some tricky eating logistics.  They were good, though served warm, which was a little odd at first bite.  The flatbreads are really little personal pan pizzas, and the Italian meat was definitely pizza-esque.  The pineapple and gorgonzola was really good, with the strong cheese not being too overwhelming.

This is a great place for a date, and the happy hour is definitely worth checking out.  We were able to linger and chat for a while, and didn't feel rushed to leave.

Had the pleasure of visiting this place saturday evening. First advise i can give you on this place is to make you evening more enjoyable, make reservations. If its just two people no problem but its four or more try and make reservations.

The food they serve here is soooooo fn good. The wines are priced up but they are a business and have to make a profit but its nothing over the top. Great, great wine selection. While we were here there was a party of about 20 having a birthday celebration. Having a party so large the place had no feeling of being over crowded.  I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners "Mark", very, very nice an professional business owner.

This is the kind of place if your alone you can enjoy.  Stop in on a beautiful day, order a bottle of wine, grab a nice chair in the corner or outside and sit and enjoy your day with a little vino. I so wish this place was closer to my home i know for a fact i would be a regular here. This is also the kind of place if you have to go a little out of your way, by all means do so.  you'll be pleased. Looking forward to my next visit.
