I'm done with this store for good. Â No self-checkout before 8am anymore! Â
Clearly they don't want any business from morning commuters who are in a hurry. Â For over a year I have been stopping here multiple times per week to pick up my auto-breakfast. Â I would utilize the self-checkout terminal and usually be in and out in 120 seconds. Â But back in December I started having problems where I would find the self-checkouts closed, not occasionally but every single time. Â Once they didn't have any bagels yet at 7:30, and another time there was an enormous line to check out at the one open cashier.
This week I got the scoop from Irene, the super-sweet regular morning cashier: Â they don't open the self-checkouts before 8am anymore. Â
Say what? Â Irene is a really nice lady, so I don't want to direct my ire at her. Â Thus I extend my middle fingers to the heartless, faceless entity that is Dominick's #2889. Â You are dead to me, 2889. Â I'd rather go hungry in the morning than spend my precious time standing in your checkout lines. Â Give Irene a raise though.
This Dominick's is relatively new and very close to my house. Though I mostly tend to visit the Jewel in Northcenter, I do really enjoy the Signature Cafe soups that you get at Dominick's. Sodium bombs, I know... but when you are restricted to a diet of soft foods, I welcome the flavor.
Aside from that, this Dominick's is a-okay. I'll come here when I need things such as Funfetti cake mix, but will stick to Trader Joe's and HarvesTime for most of my shopping.
I kind of felt bad leaving my 1 star review up after the remodel. Yay for how clean and bright it is, plus the roof parking has never been full when we've gone. Also a huge fan of the For You deals they have that you can add to your cart. Produce still can be questionable - I never thought getting a good red onion would be so difficult in the city of Chicago. Thanks for the upgrade, now there's only one sketch supermarket to avoid instead of two.
