This past weekend my friend, Penny Lane (the names have been changed to protect the innocent) called me up and said "What are you up to? Want to go on an adventure?" The answer to this question is always yes and we were off to the Muppet.
You must know that whenever I say "the Muppet" I can't resist saying it like Animal from The Muppet Show, so I'm going to try and type it that way for effect.
I had heard about THE MUUUPPPET several time before and had never been. I'm not going to lie, I was a little scared. As soon as I walked in the fears where pushed aside. THE MUPPET-MUPPET-MUPPET was actually a cool little dive. The beers were ice ice cold. Yums! The bathrooms were not horrible (and we all know the measure of a good dive bar is the bathroom) and there was a group of strolling musicians who we had come to see. Â Fun times!
I really liked THE MUPPET!!! I'm sure I will be back on my next Penny Lane adventure.
What a ridiculous name for a ridiculously AWESOME bar! Cafe Muppet, you put other dive bars to shame.
The place is packed on a Friday night, but not to the point of insanity. Everyone was friendly and the place smelled of a combination of the outdoor smoking patio, the fresh spring air, strong cologne, stiff drinks and smoked meats. Ahhh, the culmination of all things great.
A real tear jerking, heart wrenching, toe tapping, sing your lungs out Balkan band was playing. But they weren't playing TO us. No, they were playing WITH us. They made their way around the entire bar, taking quick musical breaks to dance with us. During their short break they sat down and just relaxed with us. This is how all concerts should be.
