I'm sorry to say that the only description that fits my breakfast at Dozens is: mediocre. First, things that were good:
There was no wait on a Saturday morning.
My server was polite and efficient.
The food came very quickly.
My french toast had lots of strawberries on it.
Things that were meh:
The french toast had a faint orange flavor that I thought rendered it slightly bitter, and it wasn't otherwise at all flavorful.
The 'fresh' orange juice was not recently an orange.
The coffee lacked flavor.
The bottom line is that there are way better breakfasts in town. I put this about on par with the chain breakfast places. I won't be returning, especially for the price. ($17 for juice, coffee, toast, bacon)
I love going here for brunch with friends, because the food is good and the atmosphere is nice and not too loud. However, the service here could use some improvement.
On several occasions, when I walked in alone or with my party, we would wait for the host to finish up with a customer paying the bill. I would expect to be helped after this customer was done, but neither the host, nor any other staff helped us. Leaving customers just continued to line up to leave and the host didn't even acknowledge us or said that he would be right with us. That is just rude. I thought, do you even want my business? This sort of thing has happened more than once at this Dozens location.
Other times, the waiters didn't look that happy. Things like that turn the mood upside-down.
However, the food is great and the mimosas are wonderful! Just maybe try another location if you'd like a side of friendly customer service with your DTC.
I have been going to breakfast here for about 1 years. Â I think the same guy has been at the cash register the whole time:) Â Great food (you must try the scones.) Â Great service and overall my favorite breakfast spot downtown. Â Add the DAM right next door and you have a perfect Saturday.
Review Source:One of my besties and I were looking to get our breakfasty grub and mimosa on this fine Sunday morning. Our first stop was Madison Street, which had a 45 minute wait. Nope! Then we drove by Jelly, which had a huge crowd of people out front... Nope!
I remembered driving by Dozens all the time on my way to school, and we decided to call them up to see if they had a wait, and also to see if they served booze. There was no wait, and they serve booze! WIN!
I was a little worried about parking, being familiar with the Golden Triangle area, but to my glee they had their very own parking lot for Dozens customers.
The decor is very very very old school. The restaurant is in an old building and I don't think they've changed anything about it since they opened. This adds to its charm a little bit, but I would not have minded a nicer table (rickety two top with a picnic cloth over it) and chairs.
The food was pretty no frills, but they know what they're doing.
My friend got the DTC which included scrambled eggs, potatoes (GREAT potatoes), fruit (aka a small slice of pineapple... meh), an english muffin with butter and apple butter (my FAVORITE), and a side of ham. I got the Blue Bonnet Sonnet (omelette filled with cheddar cheese, green chilis, and diced tomatoes) with ham. Mine also came with potatoes, fruit, and an english muffin. The food was fantastic and satisfying. We also both got mimosas, which as Kelly T. also mentioned were SUPER strong, and only $3.50. Me likey!
Service was good. My coffee was always full and the food came out REALLY fast, which I was very happy about. I will definitely be back here again for Sunday brunch!
Meh. I have been coming to Dozens since it was in Aurora and owned by Scott D. It was much, much better then. The place is cute but everyone minus a server or two is flat out grouchy. Maybe they all get up too early but man, I do not need a side of snark with my eggs. I can say, I will probably never go back.
Review Source:Amazing little joint that I have driving by many times always saying, "I should go there". Â Off street parking although limited is a great offering to its customers that dread the ferociousness of the parking enforcers, in their little jeeps, but I digress. Â Dozens menu is full of options with witty descriptions. Â The food is tasty and fresh and offers real crap omelette that is unbelievable with its Swiss cheese.
Review Source:I can't believe it took me so long to come have breakfast here. I'm so glad that I finally did. I love the location, having a parking lot makes it amazing. The staff was so friendly, from the hostess to our server it was seamless service. While waiting for my friend I enjoyed some coffee and am not sure how I missed out on the french press option, I'll have to go back to try it! Food was delicious and super fresh, I know eggs aren't hard to make but there was something about the way they made their eggs that was awesome. I had a scramble and they were super fluffy and light. I swapped out my potatoes for a half an avocado and it was the best breakfast ever. Will definitely add this to the brunch/breakfast rotation!
Review Source:Dozens.... good location, good food, good prices, good service
You will find this quaint restaurant located in a house on the corner of 13th and Cherokee, just around the corner from the Art Museum. What more could you ask for?
The interior is fun and colorful! Â The staff is helpful and friendly, always available.
The coffee is very good too.
Food - it's good, what else can I say. The only thing I wish they would do is get better bacon. Â Their belgium waffle is Excellent! Â We always split a waffle. Â They are one of the better waffles around.
Homemade muffins are always available, with a very nice selection. Â
They are open daily from 6:30 am - 2:00pm. Â
Yes, we are "regulars," because it's good.
Blah thats it. Not worth it except the bran muffin. I read good reviews but i'm not sure what they ordered..... we ordered the NotAnOmlette which contained potatoes, green peppers, onions, mushrooms with a side of side of red chili. The food was bland, I had to use hot sauce and salt to make it taste good. The red chili sat there drowning in its pool of oil. My Fiance ordered the Litary club and that was ok but who would mess up a turkey, bacon, avacoda, lettuce  and tomato sandwhich.... The pasta the sandwhich was gross, maybe from walmart deli.... It was some oil pasta thing.  We got seated right away but didn't get noticed by our server until 10 minutes later.
I ordered a mimosa and my fiance ordered a coffee. After getting our drinks I hear the manager ask our server who is about mid 40's if she saw my i.d. Really!? Why would you ask her right behind me where I can hear you? I'm 27 and I know I look good for my age but I think a 40 something year old server would know, if trained right, to look at everyones i.d. I'm not upset that he had asked but at least don't do it where I can hear. It madfe me feel like I was a liar or I was trying to drink underage. If he's so worried maybe it should be a 21+ breakfast spot. Check i.d at the door or something. Anywho I'M NEVER GOING BACK and from recent posts I guess the manager may contact me and make me feel special to know he has time to write me :)
In the end choose you choose your death but I wouldn't go here...just sayin. For $30 buck hit up snooze or someplace worth your money
Like Jennifer A., I was contacted by the owner of Dozens, John e. Here is what the owner had to say to me ""I'd be very interested in what you think is good breakfast? Â You like eggos or crap out of a can. Â You are a narccicist and love to see your self in print. Â Can you cook and will anyone eat?"
I'd like to answer this email by pretending that he is being sincere instead of a callous browbeater
John,
Thank you for contacting me via private message!
I am happy to answer your questions.
"I'd be very interested in what you think is good breakfast? You like eggos or crap out of a can."
Let's touch on the question first and then we'll cover the proceeding comment. I think good breakfast from a restaurant is like any other good meal, you want to go back. Some examples of this would be:
* Duo's - I love their French Toast and their potatoes,
* Gaia - They have wonderful crepes,
* Country Road Cafe - They have great everything,
* Route 6 Cafe - This is diner food done right,
* Rioja - They have the best house breakfast breads,
* Waffle Brothers - Their waffles are scrumptious.
As a general question, I prefer Blueberry Pancakes, Sage & Goat Cheese Omelets, Spicy Garlic Fingerling Potatoes, Homemade Cinnamon Rolls, and French Pressed Coffee.
With regards to Eggos or crap out of a can, the answer is no. Though, a good chef/cook can take just about any item and make it better regardless of whether it was canned or not.
"You are a narccicist and love to see your self in print."
I am narcissistic enough to know how to spell narcissist. Thank you for bringing my grammar and spelling abilities to the forefront of this conversation. That is very thoughtful of you.
The medium is not print but I digress. I do put my opinion out there in spite of owners like you.
"Can you cook and will anyone eat?"
Ah, I love this question. You bet I can cook. I can make everything I listed above plus any pastry, cookie, cake, soufflé, sauces, pastas from scratch, artisan breads, and a plethora of other items.  I have been able to transform the palates of several people, contrary to what you have been able to do for me. So, yes people will eat my cooking. Oops, there I am being narcissistic again.
The real point is John, that everyone has a right to their opinion. My opinion is that Dozen's is not worth my time with the variety and quality of other breakfast establishments throughout Denver. This opinion is further ingrained by an owner who doesn't listen to customer input and instead puts down his customers.
Evey.
I am sorely tempted to tell you to not give this place any of your money, due to the personal attack I received FROM THE OWNER following a review I gave when I came away less than satisfied during a recent visit - his personal note to me is in quotes below. Â However, unlike him, I realize that Yelp is a place for honest, personal opinions and I still invite you to go along, try it for yourself and make up your own minds. Â If you don't like it, however, please be warned that being honest with your feedback may well lead to a personal written attack, suggesting sexual acts you should do to your nearest and dearest. Â
"You know nothing about food. Â Stop telling folks about your time in SF, you learned nothing. Â Syrup will be lucky to survive this year. Â Stop wasting everyones time reviewing restaurants. Â Suryp, likely, had plenty of time to kiss your useless ass as you were the only ones there. Â People like you make Yelp useless. Â All you do is hate. Â get a knew hobbie or may be, put out know and then. Â At least your boyfriend will be pleased."
First off, I'm a sucker for themes, so any menu that has a naming theme kind of already wins points in my book. Plus, I love Denver (duh.), so the fact that the dishes on Dozens' menu are named after famous places in Denver pretty much sold me from the start.
That and the fact that everyone working in this place is so dang happy all the time!
Our server was a bubbly gal who brought us our menus and happily brought us some coffee and a couple of mimosas that were SO strong, we actually asked for a little more OJ (yeah, that's pretty strong).
If you are a gluten free eater, but are still on the whole meat and dairy train, this is a great place to go for brunch. Most of the dishes are egg based, and there is a lot of meat, but, for the most part, it's pretty easy to eat a gluten-free meal here.
Our server was so sweet that, when my friend and I requested no toast with our orders, she came back with two cookies saying, "I wasn't sure if the no toast request was just that you didn't want toast or an actual gluten intolerance, so I brought you some cookies." That was a really sweet touch, I thought and since my friend just didn't feel like toast, she totally ate those cookies.
The one thing that is somewhat odd about this place is the decor. Not that this place is dumpy or anything, it's very clean, but the interior resembles something like a Le Peep and I don't think the art or furniture has been updated in decades. It just doesn't jive with playful staff and great menu.
All in all, I can't wait to go back here again! Especially since my bill came out to only $15 for brunch, coffee and a mimosa!
I can't believe I've never reviewed this place, we've been coming here forever and I love it. Â The funny thing is, I always come here when I'm craving breakfast, but end up ordering a lunch item instead.
I love the smallish place, the staff is great and the food is always good.
It's very consistent too!
Lisa H, our "adopted" Denver parents, and I met up at Dozens for brunch before the USA Pro Cycling Challenge this past weekend.
I had heard of Dozens, but didn't know much about it. Â So it was great to go into a new breakfast joint without any expectations.
I must've driven past this places more times than I can count, but never really noticed it. Â Dozens is located in an old renovated house on 13th and Cherokee; big windows, beautiful wood floors, and vaulted ceilings.
Our sever was top notch: you could tell she enjoyed her job. Â She checked in with us as we perused the menu without being pushy. Â We probably took longer than necessary to decide (the menu is quite small, which is always welcomed), but everything looked so tempting.
I ended up choosing the Loveland: Â a ham and cheese scrambled egg creation loaded with green peppers and onions; a side of chunky hash browns; a tasty English muffin with apple butter; and a slice a cantaloupe. Â Wow this was a great breakfast option! Â I was really pleased with how delicious everything was, especially that apple butter. Â Yum-o! Â I must've been hungry or craving some serious protein because my plate was clean shortly after it was set on the table.
Great service, excellent staff, beautiful building, and most importantly, tasty food!
Friendly and attentive staff, cute French country-esqe ambiance, tasty pastries (love the cinnamon rolls), fresh food and the outdoor patio is nice.
Not the top of the heap for Denver brunch, but no where near the bottom either.Good food for a reasonable price. Â Location is a great starting point for a lazy day at the library or the DAM. That being said, parking can be tough so bring your change for nearby meters where a quarter will take you farther than it does a few blocks closer to 16th Street.
I always find myself wishing that A) they had an actual waiting area/entryway as entrances and exits are always awkward and that B) the restrooms were larger and cleaner. These factors don't impact the food, sure, but they do impact the overall experience.
1. I liked being seated on the patio and as a plus, the servers don't forget about you out there!
2. I got the Belgian Waffles with fruit and devoured it. It was fantastic! I guess I probably should have tried some eggs there, since that's like, their thing--- but, happy to pass along that non-super eggy dishes are delicious as well!
3. The maitre d' was very pleasant and when he saw that I was from out of state from my driver's license, he filled me in on all of the 4th of July celebrations going on around the city. Â Very friendly staff as a whole.
I will be going back! A cute little space with no wait- can't beat that!
Dozens has won me over time and time again. Â It has a cozy home style feel and makes me feel like I'm just chowing down on grandma's (okay, not MY grandma per se, but the proverbial grandma's) cooking. Â Yes, it's not terribly healthy...I think "hearty" is the right world... although they do offer a few lighter options. Â I LOVE getting the French Press here...mmm and make sure to try whatever the muffin of the day is.
As the name implies it is very much focused on the eggy side of breakfast. Â So if eggs make your stomach turn just walk away now. Â But if not, you will have a multitude of egg-cellent (yes, I just punned) choices to try!
After searching for countess restaurants for lunch in downtown Denver, my friends and I were ecstatic to hear that Dozens which was nearby was open for brunch and desperate because we were running out of legit restaurants in the area. Apparently a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays! (why?)
Drinks:
French press, honey flavor - Im not a coffee drinker but had to try this and suggest coffee lovers to get the honey flavor. It was rich and tasty.
Hot chocolate is to die for, it's delicious especially after walking around in the cold for restaurants all morning! We were seated quickly within 3 minutes but I must note that waiter service was very slow. We found the names on the entree items to be quite entertaining and humorous as we waited to order.
All entrees were served with a oatmeal raisin cookie which was fairly decent:
French toast formidable with strawberries & bananas - Not very impressed with the quality and taste of this entree. I didn't even taste the richness of the cream cheese or preservatives. As a matter of fact, I didnt taste anything except the syrup and bread :(
Eggs arnold - my friend ordered the bay shrimp on the side which was probably a good idea. It just doesnt seem right to have bay shrimp tossed in the hollandaise sauce and eggs. But the dish itself was delicious! It came in a fluffy shell and potatoes.
How the west was won - can you say a heart attack waiting to happen or food coma syndrome? Well personally I thought the biscuits were a bit dry but my friends enjoyed savoring this dish. It had sausage, gravy and biscuits.
Telluride - This was my favorite even though it wasn't my own. It had mushrooms, eggs, chopped chicken breast  in hollandaise sauce served with a potatoes,  english muffin and apple butter. The apple butter tasted like regular jam, I wasn't too big of a fan. The dish itself was 2 thumbs up though!
This place had a really good breakfast dish called the steamboat. It was eggs and bacon in a chafing dish.
I also really liked their hot chocolate, it looked more like a Ice Cream sundae.
The potatoes were ok but nothing spectacular.
They had a french toast stuffed with cream cheese that looked really good but I just wasn't in the mood.
I love this location, next to the art museum. Though the one on Havana is my favorite, because they offer Provence herb mix table side for the potato hash. Anyways!
Great eggs, never leaves me feeling ill and wondering why I did that. And it's consistently good, and busy.
For sure check it out!
The best coffee, good staff & fresh eggs. Â If there's a line, you might have to wait outside, which can be a real bummer in a blizzard.
Like all the good breakfast places, timing is key. Â I usually wander in after ten, so not much of a line and no problem to park. Â It is a small lot though, and parking can be a pain.
Some Novo, a smoothie and a scramble (the Steamboat is very good and a crowd favorite) & I'm good until dinner. Â I get the house coffee and skip the press-pot experience. Â The french toast is also very good, though I don't recommend the coma-inducing 'stuffed' french toast. Â Got it once by mistake. Â Woke up hours later, surrounded by gray foxes in some bizarre pointy building down the street. Â Watch out for that stuff...
When the crowd peaks, service can get harried, but in general the waitstaff are friendly, fast and upbeat. Â The coffee is the best. Â It was good even before they started serving Novo (Novo = best coffee ever, no contest).
The focus is on fresh, and even the unhealthy (mmm, Golden Triangle... drool) stuff comes with fresh fruit. Â Apple butter shows up no matter what you order.
Dozens' is a true piece of Denver life. Â The menu is carefully designed to identify snotty, humorless newcomers so that we can tag them and ship them back to wherever they came from.
If enough peeps start to come here when they don't want to wait at snooze then eventually theres going to be a long wait here too :O)
So far this hasn't happened yet tho when we arrived there was a bunch of people standing outside which might deter some but it was only a 15 minute wait for a party of two.
I got the Convention Center omelet which had chopped chicken breast, fresh broccoli and cheddar cheese along with a side of spuds and I upgraded the english muffin to a fresh baked blueberry muffin which was awesome. I hear they are known for their killer muffins?
Girlfriend got Blue Bonnet Sonnet which had green chiles, tomatoes and cheddar cheese with salsa on the side.
Service was a little slow at first but when she realized we were sucking down the coffee she came around a bit more often :o) Defo worth a try if you would like a new place for breakfast in Denver!
I've been here twice and it's my new favorite place for a relaxing, casual breakfast. Â They know how to cook eggs PERFECTLY and I especially recommend the Steamboat: scrambled eggs, sour cream, green onions, and bacon, with plenty of potatoes on the side. Â Both times I went were on a weekend; it was bustling but we were able to be seated immediately (probably because there were only two of us.)
Really recommend it, although I do wish they served chai! Â But the fresh-squeezed orange juice was a great substitute :-)
I just moved here from Boston and the only way I feel settled in a new place is to find a breakfast place...I can now say that I feel settled in Denver.
A breakfast restaurant can't just serve good food, it has to have the right morning ambiance, and Dozens does. It was obvious to me that it was well loved when on my first visit, the owner knew about every other person who came through the door. It's also in an old house-like setting and ranged in clientel from men in business suits to families.
My only critique is the menu's variety. While I am gluten-intolerant so I love the plethora of omelet options, my fiance is always looking for a good stack of pancakes and there aren't a lot of options for the basic breakfast. The menu does, on the other hand, offer your own french press coffee...which, is genius.
I'm stoked to have found Dozens and will likely be a regular for a while.
I descended on this place late this morning with a really bad hangover but with great company. Â I was pleased to find that they have a really comfortable covered patio that was very easy to have a conversation on. Â
I liked the fact that what I ordered automatically came with a cookie, an English Muffin, pineapple, and Apple butter. Â The Apple butter came off as a bit of a surprise because for whatever ridiculous reason I thought it was barbecue sauce and was taken aback when I put it on my eggs. Â Why would I think for a second that a ham & egg breakfast might come with barbecue sauce? Â See the first sentence about the hangover. Â
The thing that I didn't like is the eggs just come automatically scrambled and I'm over easy when it comes to the eggs. Â All things considered I was really happy with this place and it contributed to a great day.
Great food. Very accommodating.
Called a couple days ahead to reserve a table for 8 on a Sunday morning. I was told that they did not take reservations for Sunday mornings and that those were the busiest days, but I could call ahead the morning of to give them a heads up that we were coming and they would start seating accordingly so that they would have a table for us shortly after our arrival. Very cool! Not too many small restaurants willing to do that.
We ended up just showing up instead and were seated surprisingly quickly for there being a huge event at the Library (a block away). Unfortunately, my group grew a bit more than I expected, so as chairs were added, our table was a bit uncomfortable and we felt like we were in everyone's way, but that was our fault, not theirs. They were quite accommodating.
They have great menu options and all of them sound so good it is difficult to decide. They also have low-carb side options, instead of the regular hash browns and bread! Yay! I got my grubbin green chile omelet with cottage cheese & tomatoes on the side, delicious!
Parking is a little dicey. If you are lucky, you can find a spot in Dozens lot. Metered parking is free on Sundays, but you may have to hike a bit. Just give yourself a little extra time to park.
Also, the place is very small, so be prepared to wait, but the wait is well worth it. If you want to sit on the patio, be prepared to wait quite a long time, as it is quite popular and quite small.
This place was good - but we went on off hours - after the lunch rush during a weekday so I don't have a weekend frame of reference. We also went on a reccomendation from a friend on what to order as well...
Had the golden triangle - pretty good
Pasta salad - good, not too greasy or mayo-y
Small smoothie - lot of money for a little tiny drink - could have used a bigger one
Cinnamon roll - good but nothing spectacular
Overall - i'm gonna guess this place is SWAMPED during the week so only hit it up if you're looking to eat not during a rush hour.
No complaints here! Me, my sis and bro visited today for brunch - no waiting at noon on a Sunday, there was even parking. Is that vheird? I am *not* an omelette fan (which Cindy & Wil had, and seemed to like okay) and wasn't ready for real lunch food so stuck with the basics, 2 eggs over easy, english muffin, and their breakfast potatoes, which I thought were tasty, not bland. Wil had a minor complaint about the french press coffee being super heavy on the grounds which were floating around his cup and it was too strong for my sis (who isn't a regular coffee drinker.) Â Overall I'd say this is a good, solid breakfast place and I'll be back to try again.
Right now they are offering $1 off on every take-out entree, if you're so inclined.
They don't have a waiting lobby, which sucks since everyone inside seems to take 6,000 years to eat. Borderline competing with God in terms of what took longer: finding a place to sit down or creating the Universe as we know it.
While waiting, you get smashed in-between this "delightful" crowd of parents who still decided to have 42 children and another on the way. I did some socio-genetic observation and note-taking while huddling in the corner next to the fake flowers.
My waitress had to have had more than fifteen tables. One of those "better order everything right as you sit down because she won't be back for a while" ordeals. I can crack eggs better for the sort of prices this place charges for breakfast and brunch. Naming shit after ski resorts and mountains in Colorado doesn't justify ripping off your customers with sub-par brunch food.
I think the manager stands at the cash register and tries to look official. Apparently there's some underground criminal network in Denver that links Dozens to the Pints Pub across the street, because he spends a lot of time on a wireless 90s phone adjusting his waiting lists. And money.
You can't mix and match things. It's like communism all-wrapped-up-into one-all-up-in-your-face on a Saturday morning.
Message under the soda bottle cap says: "Not a winner, try again."
Dozens was a pleasant suprise for my last day in Denver. The extra special bonus was catching the marathon and seeing the runners reach the finish line.
Everything here is fresh and simply delicious. Their omelletes are named after different towns in Colorado. Best of all, they have a large selection of vegetarian dishes. They offer scramblers, oatmeal, muffins, biscuits and gravy, french toast, stuffed french toast, fruit, coffee, juice, and tea. All your basic breakfast staples but everything is just so good and FRESH.
I had the Veggy Benny. It's basically eggs benedict with tomatoes, avocado, and mushrooms served over a flaky buttery crust. I also had a short order of the french toast which did not disappoint me.
I didn't have that "I ate too much" feeling after breakfast. Everything was perfect.
This place rocks! Â Yes, we're breakfast people. Â We go out for breakfast every weekend, and yes, here if it's my turn to chose. Â I like that it's so close to the Denver Art Museum, because that's going to be our next stop, count on it.
I've eaten here many times and I love the cozy atmosphere, and the cool staff. Â There are, at times a line of patrons waiting to get in but it will be worth the wait. Â The menu is so special and unique. Â Each item is named after a Denver landmark. Â A restaurant that loves Denver as much as I do, go on. Â I love that!
The food is very good and they can make special substitutions for picky eaters like me. Â YEA, Â I'm healthy, and I don't care who has to slave over a juicy cantaloupe for me to keep being that way! Â They seem happy to do it.
I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but I kind of have a crush on breakfast. I mean, sure it's mostly on the bacon part, but I've also had my eye on Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy and the occasional omelet. And so I've now kind of developed a giant crush on Dozens.
They are clearly an egg-heavy menu (get it - Dozens?), but they offer plenty of other options if you are of those anti-egg people. Plus they have delicious French press coffee, which is enough for 2 to share or 1 to overindulge in.
The atmosphere is adorable as has been mentioned. It's just a little, old house that's been revamped into a comfy, homey restaurant. The only thing I found strange were the server's shirts were a little short, like belly showing shirts, but everyone wore shirts underneath those shirts.
When I moved to Denver, I of course had many things I had to get done. Job, apartment, you know the drill. Very quickly, I needed to find a local place with a nice solid 'merican type breakfast. Check.
At Dozens I'm generally seated at the same table with the same server; I like to think this is on purpose. She knows that whoever I'm with, we will be having a french press of Novo coffee. She might even assume that we'll also be having fresh squeezed greyhounds (there's something about breakfast where I enjoy having many glasses in front of me). She helps me decide between the two items I'm eyeballing so I don't have to make that choice while I'm as hungover as I usually am. Man, if I sent out Christmas cards, she'd get one.
My food is always good cuz I'm there for three things: meat, starch, and fruit. I have the luxury of not liking eggs and therefore not caring how they're cooked. Oatmeal, french toast, bacon, biscuits and gravy... and fruit.
The decor gives me the distinct feeling that if one was to try and serve dinner there, the plates of food would all burst into flame. It's breakfast time. Lots of yellow, lots of plants, probably not the most comfortable chairs in the world. You know, a breakfast place, one in an old house.
Makes me wish I got up for breakfast more often.
All five stars can be attributed to their sausage biscuits and gravy.
Before i left Nashville, i was sure to get my father's recipe for biscuits, for fear that west of the Mississippi there'd be no biscuits.
I was was only half wrong: there are heaps of biscuits to be had at Denver diners and restaurants, but none, really, that can stack up to the homemade buttermilk staple of the South. Most of the ones I've tried are merely products of frozen food service providers. But not Dozens'.
Oh, these are the real deal. The secret is, really, no secret at all: They halve the biscuits and toast them before a patty of sausage is place on each half and then smothered in gravy that has sausage (yes, MORE) cooked into it.
And as mentioned in another review, the french press coffee is where it's at. though, a bit pricier than the drip it's like said difference b/w frozen biscuits and scratch biscuits.
Once, for lunch, i had their egg salad. It was tasty, too, if not really sloppy cause the heaping portion of it placed on the oh-so-delicate bread of a croissant.
Because several of my  family members in Denver like this place and its dissimilar sister restaurant across the street...the British Pub...I have eaten at Dozens many times over the years.
I appreciate that there are some reserved free parking spaces available...awesome!!
The wait is never long, but because I've mostly been for midmorning breakfast on weekends, there has been a wait because that is a popular time at Dozens.
My son loves their cinnamon rolls...nice and fresh from the oven. Â
My relatives enjoy all of their food, lunch and breakfast.
My observations have been that this is an oddly inconsistent restaurant  in regard to service,  quality of ingredients, & preparation of food.  The same breakfast order, for example, varies widely from one month to the next.  Some servers are pleasant and efficient,  while others are neither. Â
The building is pleasant enough. Â
All in all, I would not choose to eat here, and only go every now and then when one relative or another chooses it. Â If I just stick with an order of coffee and water, I'm fine.
