If you like big places don't come here it's a smaller more intimate kind of place but dusk is a Cool place, definitely a hipster club, I came in they had a fund raiser going on, they had a raffle, and puppet cock fights and dancing girls with rabbit ears shape dancing... Drinks aren't to expensive like 7 bucks but I don't really know how much drinks cost at bars because I don't really ever drink at bars, fun music, well mixed, rock, rap, techno, etc...if you like small and different come to dusk
Review Source:Spent my first night at Dusk yesterday, what a great place! Â The bartenders are so nice and really quick, the bar itself is beautiful and comfortable. Â The velvety couches and chairs give it a cozy, coffeehouse feeling, while maintaining the dark, sexy atmosphere you'd expect, and want, from a place like this. Â All in all, a great experience at a fantastic place, glad I finally got there and can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Went here last night w a small group...sipped on some delicious martini's and enjoyed the DJ's reggae mix. Around 10pm the music switched up to old school 90's hip hop / dance and we all lost it...in a good way! Danced our asses off and had a blast! Beautiful bar and love the low lighting, incense burning. Mix of people their...not crowded even with a good amount dancing. We really enjoyed ourselves!
Review Source:Dusk is a hybrid dance/metal club on Harris Ave popular with the 20-something hipster set, among others. I haven't seen that combination since I used to hang out at Fibber McGee's in Dublin in the early 90s (yes, I'm old. GFY).
The space inside is dark and beautiful. It's a larger space, but the bar takes up huge area making it feel crowded with only 40 people or so. I think this is what you want for a club. Unlike going to have a quiet drink with friends at The Avery, you don't want to go out to dance or see live music and feel like you're in an empty room.
The bartenders open a can of 'Gansett here just as well as anywhere, but for those into fancy-lad cocktails, I hear they're pretty good.
Whenever I've been to dusk there was an event going on. Sometimes it was a DJ, sometimes it was live music, sometimes it was a party. I'm not sure if there are times when nothing is going on, and not sure if its the best place if you're looking to be able to talk with your friends. But if you're into dancing and/or rocking out, it seems like it's the new place to go.
Dusk is our favorite place in providence. Â Rick the owner is a sweetheart and has the right idea always trying to change it up and cater to all different crowds and tastes. Â The best part is every night you go it will be different crowd, music, bartenders, just changing it up all the time but always great. You honestly never know what you'll get and we like that. It should be bumping every night, but even if its not (or esp if its not) you have such an awesome time. always have work parties here and here only. Â Plenty of parking and a more mature crowd is why we stopped trying to hang at places like 121. Bartenders always willing to mix up something different for you and theyre damn good at it. Â Totally beautiful decor. Â chill crowd overall so dont let close proximity to monet or van goh or whatever the hell that place is called scare you. safe location. Â great for semi private parties. Â If you like metal you must check out weds nights!! Â awesome different bands/talented Djs all the time and pretty much no cover(only for bands) Â and def never a dresscode...awesome in the summer with windows open...or snowstorm w no one else there! NYE? only checking out one place. Â Cant go wrong at Dusk, its the shit.
Hi Ricky! Â you ran out of cucumber vodka Kid! xoxo
Angie and Joe
This bar is off the beaten path and unexpected when you step inside. One of those places where I am grateful there is no longer smoking in bars. Gorgeous and simple decor.
When Neda tends bar, be sure to ask what's she's making that night. She does an outstanding job. The way she describes her drinks and use of passionate hand gestures tells me it's gonna be good.
Been to shows there and it gets packed quickly, so if you want a seat get there early. Â Little seating.
I'm not completely aware of their weekly programs/bookings. I do know that Wednesdays, Tom West tends bar and hosts the "Providence Artist Campaign" which sometimes includes unique swag giveaways.
I am a fan!
This is one of the best clubs i've been to. It's a really nice and clean place, staff is very friendly.
I specifically go there for a night Called Requiem. It is a goth/industrial night that happens on the first thursday every month. Though I would definately go there for other nights as well.
Best club I've been to in a long time all things considered in terms of Providence. I use to go to Club hell, which was a falling apart venue. Dusk is a newly renovated space and I really like the all wood/gothic/dark style of the bar. It could use a bigger space for dancing but that's my only complaint. I go here mostly for this event http://www.wix.com/requi… (first Thursday night once a month goth/industrial night.) But I enjoy the fact that the drinks are cheap, sound system sounds good, bathrooms are clean and they have a little quite/VP room in the corner. Over all it's an adorable place.
Review Source:Ricky is the type of local business owner I look for. Passionate, building his dream, wanting to have a quality establishment, and support local artists. Cool staff, great drinks. Just check the schedule, because there are often live bands here, so it's good to know if it will be the right crowd for you on a given night.
Review Source:This place is exactly what Providence was missing...just when you think you have made a wrong turn, or that there is no possible way a "cool" lounge exists down this road, you have made it to Dusk. The large bar, lounge seating, and church like alter, aka. DJ booth, create an environment that is both comfortable and cosmopolitan. Being there makes me feel like I was invited to some private VIP party that only a select few know about...it really is a unique, hidden jewel! By the way, the drinks are SUPER tasty as well!
Review Source:Really great spot to see live music. Heard about it on http://www.sullyscafe.com (where I read about all of the local music in Providence and Southern New England). Met some really nice people, saw some good tunes and drank some reasonably priced booze. Can't complain about that.
Review Source:Dusk. It's a medium sized place, that advertises mostly by word of mouth, in a remote (possible sketchy) desolate at night part of Providence (at least during the week). Despite all this it's name has a bit of mysteriousness that is so appropriate.
This bar is dark, intimate, has exposed brick, is simple, clean, and classy. I feel like if it were in a movie, it'd be converted into a bordello, lol. There is a beautiful sexiness about it, that I haven't quite put my finger on yet. Maybe a part of it is the nuances like the little side room which is perfect with dim lighting and leather couches.
The bartenders here are attentive and yes, very attractive. I can really appreciate how they add to the atmosphere.
Dusk exudes a great hybrid of vintage, classic, gothic, romantic, contemporary, along with a delicately hip feel that brings me back again and again.
-Note: also Metal Nights have started up every wednesday (DJ) with Live Bands every third wednesday of the month.
Check out Dusk... you will love it too!
When night falls this is where you want to be. Â Hidden behind dark corners, old buildings and fringy strip clubs you will find this class, sexy little lounge. Â A grand, "u- shaped" bar protrudes and is perfect for perching. Â Leather couches flank an elevated section just below the raised DJ booth, and there's a mini room also with couches, exposed brick and a flat screen. Â Acoustics and lighting are well appointed and I have a little crush on the staff:
*Mae - quite possibly one of the most delightful bartenders to ever be in the presence of
*Rachel - a hot tamale
*The owner - one of those making dreams a reality kind of guys: gym teacher by day - lounge owner by night.
I dare say Dusk is one of the best kept secrets in Providence. Â And if you beg to differ, please set me straight - we just moved here nine moths ago.
Stopped by to check this space out for a pre-Pronk party. Â Obviously it was a great time... 3 marching bands battling it out inside and outside on Harris ave. Â The room is pretty cool, great acoustics and a good private room off to the side. Â I'd check this out for cocktails or to see a great band.
Review Source:This bar must be one of the best kept secrets in Providence. The sleek, loungy space is perfect for an after diner drink and to hear some live music.
Dusk is tucked away in an old warehouse space on Harris Ave, just a stones throw from the busy and chaotic scene of Atwells. Dusk feels like a place just for locals, an intimate space for those who want a night on the town without all the fuss.
The drinks are delicious. Try the Eben (a fruity vodka drink) or the Dusk Manhattan (honey whiskey and St Germain... yummmmm). The service is excellent behind the old, wide marble bar that takes up a lot of the room, so there's plenty of seating for guests.
It's obvious a lot of thought and love went into this place; every detail is attended to and it shows. The lighting from the chic chandeliers is dim, and the bare brick walls contrast beautifully with the sleekness of the dark furnishings. This place is super cool, and I can't wait to go back.
When I was told to meet someone at a new bar on Harris Avenue, I instantly thought of sequin jeans, Ed Hardy shirts (which I actually like) and blowouts.
I was pleasantly surprised that Dusk on a Saturday is full of the professional 30+ crowd that I enjoy.
Atmosphere is clean and dimly lit, the DJ was excellent and there was plenty of space to sit, talk or dance.
I heard the music was good. I heard it atmosphere was loungy, but I was still a little skeptical as I parked next to what looked like abandoned warehouses. Â But once I walked inside, my view completely shifted. Comfy leather couch along a curtained wall, cool chandeliers, a large bar, and brick walls create a relaxing but sophisticated vibe.
The DJ doesn't go on till about 10:30 and really that's when all the people come, but even before that, I really liked the music. Â
Good selection of hard alcohol and beer on tap.
I was surprised that the place cleared out around 1am. Usually people stick around till closing time, so the time frame of a crowd is small. Â The music is easy to dance to and lots of people dance, which is really fun.
This place was way fun but I wish they had some sort of way of letting people know what was going on, ie a website or a facebook page or something. Â Anyhow, the interior is beautiful, lots of exposed brick, sheer concrete and a bar that is lit from beneath in a pleasant manner. Also, the neighborhood is hyper-well lit, so you can feel pretty safe showing up. Â Drink prices were very reasonable, especially considering it is a dance type venue. Definitely worth checking out.
Review Source:Checked this spot out the other night after a friend was told it was a cool, new spot.
I have to say I really enjoyed the ambiance. Though I tihnk the establishment has yet to fully have a particular type of "crowd" (as it was very eclectic) I think that, that is actually alluring and fun. The place seemed to be more or a late-night scene, with a lot of off-shift foodservice staff.
They had a nicely stocked bar. Bartenders were friendly and quick, though didn't all have great knowledge (really not a big deal). Â The prices were fair.
Overall a nice experience and I'm looking forward to coming back again. Â Oh, and lots of room for dancing!
Ever since Red Room advertisements started popping up on the sides of RIPTA busses, I knew my nightmare had become reality: Rick sold his pride and joy to new owners, and the Red Room will never be the same. That certainly was true, and I feel like I haven't really enjoyed a good dance party since.
Lucky for me, and for the large amount of people who loved the old Red Room but won't step foot in the new one, Dusk is the latest effort by the gentleman who so craftily engineered our former favorite evening jaunt. The best thing about Rick is that he is patient - he believes that word of mouth, and not hokey over-the-top advertising, is the thing that will organically draw the perfect crowd to his bar. He was right with the Red Room, and I trust his instincts with Dusk.
Although in a kinda sketchy area of Providence, I always feel completely safe driving up to Dusk on Harris - I know the bouncers are eagle-eyed, sober, and keeping watch. Once inside, one quickly finds that it proudly joins the ranks of dark bars in Providence, and smells of fresh paint and sawdust as they completely gutted the space to the owner's specifications. The layout is simple, with a large bar commanding one side and a slightly raised platform holding couches (which doubles as a stage for live acts) and ample room for dancing on the other. The focal point of the room: a giant, hellfire and brimstone DJ booth that clearly states that Dusk is a place where music veneration occurs -- so get ready to bow down, bitches! The décor complements the sentiment of the DJ booth, with its Interview-With-a-Vampire-meets-Betty-Page-in-a-Âball-gag vibe. There is a small VIP room cordoned off by door chains, and the bathrooms are squeaky clean, albeit a bit too bright.
The drinks are strong and affordable, the bartenders are familiar faces from around Providence bars, and the music is good and loud. Check in every weekend....Rick has built it, and the dance party will come.
Dusk is one of the newest and most well kept secrets, until now, in Providence. Â
When you drive up to Dusk go slow because there is no sign and the inside is not very well light. Â FYI: Dusk is located between Club Fantasies and Monet on the same side of the road.
When you first enter Dusk you step into the middle of the building, with a large rectangular bar to your left and 4 or 5 plush leather couches with coffee tables to your right. Â This place features a huge liqour selection, nice selection of tap beers, high top tables, and large sliding windows. Â There is also a large projection screen that always has on some classics flicks and a few high top tables outside on the sidewalk. Â The whole inside from the ceiling to the floor has a sleek old world meets modern feel.
The crowd is always sexy and sophisticated, with everyone well dressed in the hottest fashions. Â The bartenders are quick, very friendly, and know their drinks. Â
This place usually does not get very crowded because the owners are trying to keep it under the radar for a while. Â Once people in Providence find out about this awesome establishment I'm sure it will fill up fast, so I would head over there soon.
