Love a good old Chinese buffet, but this place is sad and depressing. Â Not too many choices and the food looks like it's been sitting around all day. Â Haven't tried the Mongolian grill, that may be your best bet for fresher pickings.
Overall, I just plan to steer clear of this place. Â I don't like saying this about any place, but I can't recommend this to anyone.
It is rare that I downgrade a place. Â But we definitely now have a "Meh, I've experienced better" situation here. Â
The issue here is that I've had decent meals here in the past. Â But this week after stopping there because I needed a quick bite on the way home at 8:30pm, I had a meal that not only just didn't even taste close to fresh, it affected me gastronomically as well. Â I wasn't poisoned by any means, but let's just say my insides let me have it later. Â
They have a battered tempura sushi option that I tried which I can honestly say that I had no idea what I ate. Â I can tell you that it was cold, clammy, and chewy. Â These are not good signs. Â I decided I would go for more Americanized options after that. Â I tried the barbecue chicken and it lacked flavor, but didn't lack grease. Â I had wonton soup, and the wontons tasted like they had been sitting out for hours. Â I even tried the pizza, and... well, actually the pizza wasn't terrible. Â It was good for Chinese buffet pizza, 98% cheese and maybe 2% sauce. I needed to have some ice cream just to say I ate something pretty good. Â
I didn't go for the hibachi, basically because the hibachi grill guy disappeared. Â And the waitstaff... well, let's just say that you wonder when a waitress walks past your table with a water pitcher, looks right at your empty water glass, fills up someone else's water, then puts the pitcher back and walks away. Â
I'll be fair and say that maybe I can chalk this up to visiting closer to 9pm. Â Perhaps you'll have a better experience if you visit at a different time.
This place is pretty good. Â The service is really fast, meaning the plates are cleared quickly. Â The price is reasonable. Â They have fresh mussels and steamed shrimp, which were good. Â The hot food is tepid. Â the wings are funky tasting. Â The hot and sour soup is nice. Â Overall, a nice place to get your feed on.
Review Source:A Hibachi Grill has been added to this Springfield staple. Â You know the deal. Â You pick a bowl full of veggies, meats, sauces, etc. and they grill it for you. Â The wife and I just stopped in for a quick dinner and welcomed this addition to the usual Chinese and sushi buffets that are always included. Â
A weekday dinner cost us $10.59 each. Â Not bad. Â As usual the staff was friendly and the food was decent. Â We keep coming back because they consistently hit the mark for a quick meal while running errands on Baltimore Pike.
I've been to this Chinese Food buffet, abbreviated CFB many times and each time i go here and simply enjoy the food.
The allure about a CFB is that you can walk in, and try many different things on the menu without having to order a lot of each. Â
I like to walk into a restaurant and try out different things, i enjoy trying some soup, some fish dish and some apps.
This place does it well and it does it at a nice cost. Â To the moron who went here as a Vegetarian i mean really? Â Have you no brains as to what they serve in these places and then to complain about it? Â
Anyways, side rant, go here and enjoy the place for what it is a chance to eat many different things and try it out at a good price. Â Do not expect to be wow'd by it just enjoy it.
Wow. Â I haven't had worse in a LONG time. Â Payed $10.50 or so for dinner buffet on a Thursday evening around 7pm, and I seriously considered asking for my money back. Â I'm vegetarian and although I didn't expect too many options given the mainstream look of the place, the veggie options were bad: fried rice? half cooked and tasted instant. Â Veggie lo mein? super greasy and tasteless. Â Egg foo yung? super greasy and tasteless. Â Sushi ( I occasionally indulge)? like canned tuna salad but worse, with wasabi that tastes like sawdust. Â Coconut dumplings? tasty, but I don't give Dynasty credit for that, as I'm certain most of this is shipped frozen. Â
My wife is a meat-eater, and felt like the meat could have been *anything* disguised in tons of oil and sugar and red food coloring. Â She said even the fake crab (which can be good & cheap) tasted super old and bland. Â
We kept going back to the buffet thinking we might like something up there, but 1200 calories later found us regretful. Â I felt sorry for giving no tip which I haven't done on purpose since a wee clueless lad. Â Maybe it's significant that very few Asian-looking people were eating there? Â This buffet might be worth it if it costed $3.00.
When we arrived the place was pretty crowded. Â Luckily we managed to get one of the last booths available. Â The sushi was great and they had a nice variety. Â I totally adore the coconut shrimp (a weakness of mine) and couldn't get enough of it. Â Usually most places who make coconut shrimp throw in that fake crabmeat in...but this place had all shrimp...they way I like it! Â The salt /pepper shrimp and the green beans in garlic sauce was very good too, but I would definitley avoid the squid as it was a bit overcooked and rubbery. Â Not the best buffet I've been to, but still pretty good...especially the coconut shrimp!
